Growing Up With Autism (OFFICIAL)

When the opportunity for me to produce mental health content for Vox Teen Communications came, I knew right away that I wanted to talk about my experience growing up with high functioning autism. Autism is a developmental disorder that's characterized by difficulties in forming and maintaining social relationships, impairment of the ability to communicate, and repetitive behavior patterns with restricted interests and activities.” Although this is the dictionary definition for autism, autism is not a one-size-fits-all disorder. Every single person who is diagnosed or undiagnosed with autism has a different experience and a different struggle communicating with the people around them. In this podcast. I am simply sharing the experience that I have had and currently still have. I hope to inspire people to open up more about their mental health struggles, and to accept them as a part of who they are. Thank you for listening! - Christina Norris/VOX ATL
