I remember sobbing on the sidewalk with two screaming babies on my chest because I couldn't figure out how to close my stroller (a UPS man eventually carried my stroller in for me) and then, a few months later, I could get the stroller and babies out no problem! I like thinking back on that moment and reminding myself that everything in twin parenting is like that -- I'll eventually figure it out. 2) I tell myself that my twins are learning to be more patient and gracious little people by constantly having to wait their turn! I hate the feeling of being divided as a mother, but I'm hopeful that they are learning useful life skills very, very early. 3) It's super helpful to have one child with an "L" name, because forevermore Lily's items will always be stored on the LEFT. The same would be true for an R name. Or even better, choose two names that start with L and R. I didn't think of that until it was too late :)

Alex has a background in teaching and coaching and brings what she used in those fields to her career in real estate, working with growing families just like hers. She loves reading, personal growth, fitness, spending time with her family, and traveling. Find Alex on Facebook, Instagram, and her website.Alex's Top 3 Tips for Parents of Twins1. Try your absolute best to get your twins on the same schedule early on…for your own sanity! Thankfully by the time our twins arrived, we had gone through infant schedules with our first two children. We knew roughly what we wanted and what we didn’t from the get-go, so if you’re not in this position, it may take a little trial and error, but it is SO worth it. If you can feed your twins at the same time, change them, play with them, bathe them and bed them both at roughly the same time, you may actually get some time for yourself, or at least time to reset and recharge for it all to start over again! Babies love routine and you will love it too. 2. Use some forethought and plan ahead. Whether you’re staying home or being brave and going on an outing with your twins, it’s extremely helpful to think ahead and plan for what your babies will want. When my twins were sleeping, I would be washing dishes, meal-prepping, doing laundry, and making bottles. If I wanted to go out, I packed the car with the stroller, a carrier, several diapers and changes of clothes, burp cloths, on-the-go snacks, and toys before I had to do it all with babies in my arms! Planning ahead is essential to keeping the chaos at bay. 3. Take Elsa’s lead and “Let it Go!” After all is said and done, you simply can’t control it all. Take time to acknowledge and appreciate all that you have done to prepare for battle, and when things don’t go according to plan, let it ride. Everything will be okay! We all experience messy, hard times, but what is important is how we react to them, which directly impacts how we feel. Take a deep breath when something goes awry, know that it will pass, and just let it go.CONTACT USDownload the Twiniversity App: For twin pregnancy tracking and twins baby tracking! Especially if they don't have twins. You are killing it! 2) Live in the moment. They are only this little today. So let the house be messy and the laundry pile up while you play. 3) Pick your battles, especially with twins! Tackling Toddler Behaviors | Twin Mom Liz Van Hyning

Liz uses her years of experience to guide her through the twists and turns of parenthood, specifically toddler behaviors. Today, Liz hopes to share a few tools to promote positive, healthy behaviors in the household.Liz's 3 Pieces of Advice for Twin ParentsRoutines – Establishing a predictable routine is easier said than done, so don’t be discouraged if the routine isn’t settling in right away. Routines are established through weeks and months of repetition. When established, life becomes a little bit easier and a lot less complicated. A predictable routine will come in handy when twins go from babies to toddlers. Doing the same thing every day may be boring to us, but for our children, it lowers their cortisol levels and keeps them from feeling anxious about what’s coming next. Routines establish clear expectations. Allowing parents to become a partner in the routine, rather than a dictator. Thus alleviating the power struggle of day-to-day tasks many of us face with toddlers. Plan individual quality time – From the moment twins are born, they are grouped together. Mostly out of convenience and survival. As they transition from baby to toddler, personality and interests explode. With so much going on during the day, one of you and two of them, you may find it challenging to devote undivided attention with each twin. Carving out a single moment to spend quality time with your children, individually, allows you to deepen your connection, strengthen your relationship and take an uninterrupted interest in something that is important to them. Busy? Try to connect with your children at bedtime. Take 5-10 minutes to read a story of their choosing or to talk about their day. It’s not the big things in life that make the most impact. It’s the little special moments when you connect with your child’s heart is what makes all the difference. Trust yourself – God has blessed you with these children for a reason and you are fully equipped to handle any big changes or decisions that come your way throughout their little lives. Parents have a built-in compass just like we have our conscience to offer us an innate sense of right and wrong. It’s time that we start trusting that a little bit more. Start listening to what feels good to our parenting hearts, and stop thinking so much about the “right” way or the popular way or the way that would ruffle the least feathers. Let go of some of that doubt and worry. You’re smart. You’re strong. You’re capable. You got this! Twiniversity Complete Baby Safety CourseTwiniversity ClassesTwiniversity Twin Parent Mentor ProgramTwiniversity Memberships: Includes Zoom Twin ClubCONTACT USVISIT Twiniversity.com for tons of free twin tips!FOLLOW us on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and Twitter.SUBSCRIBE to our email newsletter!Subscribe for FREE to our other podcast, the Twins Tale Podcast, giving you an inside look at feeding schedules, sleep struggles, and all the highs and lows of raising twins from birth to college age.Take a class! Her favorite answer to the question "are they twins?" is "holy s**t where did this second baby come from!?" Single Mom By Choice: The Road to Having Twins Without a Partner, with Twin Mom Jenn Bauer

Nat chats with Jenn Bauer, a single woman who decided to move forward with her life and fulfill her dream of having children, albeit without a partner. Jenn got pregnant with twins, who are now 7 months old and thriving. Jenn Bauer is a clinical social worker, working in the field of mental health for the past 13 years. After many years of putting her career on the forefront, she decided to make her family a priority. Well into her 30s, she still had not met “Mr. Right” and so decided that If she wanted a family of her own, she’d have to let go of her ‘Plan A’ and take matters into her own hands. At the age of 35, she underwent her first IUI and was surprised with a pregnancy with twins! Her boy/girl twins (Dominick and Lydia) are now 7 months old and thriving. When Jenn decided to take this path she knew raising a child on her own would be challenging - emotionally, physically, financially. But adding a second baby into the mix meant that she had to adjust her plan. This is not an easy feat for an admitted Type A who loves control. Not having a partner to share this responsibility with has definitely been hard, at times. However, she has learned how to use her existing circle, as well as create new circles, to help meet the needs of both herself and her little ones.
