About
Truth Seekers: Bible Stories for Kids is a podcast for children (and adults) of all ages that journeys through the stories of the Bible. My name is Sherilyn Grant, and I am the host of the podcast. We start our way at the very beginning and walk our way through the Old and New Testament. The mission of the podcast is to help children see the individual stories of the Bible as part of one large story that reveals God's redemptive plan to rescue and restore us back to Himself. I pray that through the telling and reading of God's Word, you and your family will understand more clearly God's plan for salvation, His deep love for us, and how we can apply His truth to our lives. You can follow Truth Seekers on Facebook and Instagram at @truth.seekers.podcast.for.kids

Summer Series: Influencers for Jesus (Blessed are the Pure in Heart)

When we make Jesus our Lord and Savior, He washes us clean and places His robes of righteousness and purity upon us. As we walk in Him, we walk in purity. We cannot have a pure heart without Him. Having a pure heart also means keeping our hearts soft and free of bitterness when hard times come. Guarding our thoughts will help to guard our hearts. As we keep our hearts pure, this will be a way that others will see Jesus in us.

Summer Series: Influencers for Jesus (Blessed are the Merciful)

When we genuinely experience the mercy of God, we are able to extend that same mercy. Those who are merciful reflect the heart of God to a world lost in darkness. Revenge, hardness of heart and bitterness will lead to death and depression, but mercy leads to more mercy. It's one of the most beautiful gifts that reflects the heart of God.

Summer Series: Influencers for Jesus (Blessed are Those who Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness)

Elijah was man with a fire and a hunger for the things of God. He could not stand by and watch evil and idolatry become the way of the people of God. To hunger and thirst after righteousness is to hunger and thirst after Jesus and it is the foundation of our walk with Him.

Summer Series: Influencers for Jesus (Blessed are the Meek)

Many people today would define meekness as "weakness." But nothing could be further from the truth. To be meek is to be like Jesus. To be meek is to be humble, to refrain from pride. As followers of Jesus, we are called to be meek in the midst of a self-absorbed world. Truth Seekers is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. Summer Series: Influencers for Jesus (Blessed are Those Who Mourn)

Jesus spoke about those who mourn. He said that those who mourn will be comforted. We serve a God who cares about what concerns us. Those who have been redeemed and saved from sin, are grieved when they see sin and wickedness in the world. Followers of Jesus mourn over the effects of sin on this world. But we don't stay in a place of sadness. We trust that Jesus has conquered sin and death, and one day, we will see the fullness of His victory. As we follow Jesus, may our hearts be soft and grieve over what grieves the heart of God.Truth Seekers is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. Summer Series: Influencers for Jesus (Blessed are the Poor in Spirit)

The first Beatitude that Jesus gave us in His Sermon on the Mount is about those who are poor in spirit. To be poor in spirit means to understand that in ourselves, we have nothing. Without Jesus, we are poor in spirit. We can do nothing without Him. An influencer for Jesus is one that relies completely on Jesus. In this episode we look at the life of Esther as a woman who was poor in spirit and knew she could not save her people in her own strength. She relied completely on Yahweh, the One, True and Living God.Truth Seekers is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. #215: The Parable of the Rich Fool (Seek God's Kingdom)

Luke 12:13-34.Jesus called the man who became rich in this life but not rich towards God a fool. There is nothing wrong with saving and building wealth, but if that is all we seek for our salvation and security, then we are considered fools. To be rich towards God is to seek Him first in all things, His righteousness, and all the things we need will be added unto us. God has promised He would provide as we put our trust in Him. It's time to do a heart check to see where our desires lie. Do you desire Jesus above all else?Truth Seekers is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. #214: Mary and Martha (Sitting at the Feet of Jesus)

Mary and Martha were sisters, but were very different people. Mary recognized that Jesus would only be with them for a brief time, and so she chose to place all of her attention upon Jesus by sitting at His feet. Jesus gently rebuked Martha that she had let the worries and anxieties of life become distractions. May we never be so distracted that we fail to see that Jesus is right in our midst, wanting to spend time with us. That is the better choice.Truth Seekers is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. #213: The Syrophoenician Woman's Faith (Let go of doubt and put your faith in Jesus.)

Mark 7:24-37The Syrophoenician mother had a desperate faith. Her faith would not let go of Jesus. She had heard of and possibly seen His great miracles. She could not and would not believe that a power that great and that loving would be limited to one people group. The faith of the Syrophoenician woman caught the attention of Jesus. She wasn't the only woman in the New Testament to amaze Jesus with such faith. Clearly, Jesus values our faith. Don't give up. Without faith, it's impossible to please God. #208: Jesus Teaches Nicodemus (For God so Loved the World)

John 3. One of the most powerful conversations in the New Testament is when Jesus told Nicodemus he must be "born again" to enter the kingdom of God. What does it mean to be born again? Jesus explained that those who are born again are born of the Spirit. When we put our faith in Jesus, we receive new life, eternal life. This life in the Spirit gives us authority as children of God to live for Him and glorify His name until He returns!Truth Seekers is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. #207: John the Baptist: Living Boldy for Jesus

Matthew 14:1-12. John the Baptist was not afraid to call out sin and speak the truth, even when it meant being thrown in prison. He lived his life faithfully as a servant of the Lord, even to the very end. Life may not look how we plan or think it should, but as we put our faith and hope in Jesus, He is working all things for good. We cannot see it with our physical eyes, but the kingdom of God is for all who believe in Jesus, and the kingdom of God is one of righteousness, peace and joy. It is unshakeable and eternal. John's life did not end in fame and accolades, but Jesus said that John was the greatest of all men. John's commitment to righteousness and truth made him a voice speaking truth and light into the darkness.

#206: The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard (The Kingdom of God is Full of Grace)

Matthew 20:1-16. Jesus gave many parables that teach us what the kingdom of God is like. In this parable, we see how God is so gracious to extend His invitation of eternal life to those who put their faith in Jesus even up until the last hour of their life. God gives generously to all who would accept His Son as their Lord and Savior. Receive His invitation while it's still called Today. Even when we think we've messed up, or it's too late for us, God is extending His invitation to receive His gift of eternal life through His Son, Jesus.Truth Seekers is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. Holy Week Series: The Lord's Supper

The Lord's Supper is the last Passover meal that Jesus had with His disciples before He died on the cross. Jesus did something different at this Passover meal that had never been done. He asked the disciples to eat from the bread and drink from the cup as an act of remembering what He was about to do. When we take communion, we are remembering, just as His disciples did, the work of the cross and the power of what it means for us that Jesus gave His life. #204: The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant: Forgiving Others

Matthew 18:21-35.Jesus told a parable that illustrates what it means to forgive. We sometimes think that we have a right to hold onto unforgiveness when we are wronged, but when we become Christians, we become a part of the Kingdom of God, and forgiveness is the currency of the Kingdom of God. God commands that we forgive others because we have been so graciously forgiven. Who are we to make others repay for their sins against us when we have been released of the debt that we could never repay? This parable speaks of a serious truth for those who choose not to forgive. Unforgiveness blocks our relationship with God our Father, and we cannot move forward as followers of Jesus if we hold unforgiveness in our hearts. The Holy Spirit is able to help us to do this, not in our own strength, but by His power in us, can we forgive others when we are hurt and wronged.Truth Seekers is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. #203: The Rich Young Ruler (Letting go of the worries of this life to follow Jesus)

Mark 10:13-31. Jesus calls us to surrender our whole lives to follow Him. Are there things you might be putting your faith in other than Jesus? Are there people you are placing as more important than Jesus? If Jesus asked you to choose Him first, would you be able to? The rich young man in the story was not able to give away all he had to follow Jesus. He loved his money too much. Anything that becomes more important than Jesus is an idol, a false god. God commands that we worship Him and Him alone. Are there possible idols in your heart that could be keeping you from fully surrendering to Jesus today? Let Him have everything, and in return He promises eternal life, hope, joy, peace and so much more. What Jesus has to offer is better than anything this world can offer.Truth Seekers is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. #202: Praying the Bible (John 15:1-11: I Am the Vine)

Vineyards were grown everywhere in Israel during the time of Jesus. When He said, "I am the vine," His followers would have understand what a vine is and does. As the vine, Jesus gives us life. He produces the fruits of His Holy Spirit living in us. Without Him, we cannot bear fruit. He produces the fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. As we remain in Him as the vine, He causes us to grow and look more like Him.
