K-DEER: Kristine Deer

Kristine Deer grew up as the youngest of three girls in the suburbs of New Jersey in a home with artistic and creative parents, and an “art room” in lieu of a dining room. Her love for fashion and hot yoga started her on the journey to create apparel that was both functional and expressive, initially for herself, and ultimately transforming into a business, K-DEER, known for their iconic bright and colorful striped leggings. Little did Kristine know the community that would grow around K-DEER and the impact that they would have collectively. This story is a bit different than many of the others on our show, and it’s a really special one for which we are enormously grateful to Kristine for sharing with us. Vermont Salumi & AR Market: Pete Colman

Pete Colman is the owner of Vermont Salumi and AR Market, both located in Barre, Vermont. Pete was born in Italy and moved to VT early in life. He spent summers in Umbria, Italy, and the rest of his growing up years on Cate Farm, an organic plant and produce farm in Plainfield, Vermont. Pete has a healthy appetite for food, of course, but also for business and hands-on learning. In many ways, Pete was a trailblazer in the meat product industry in the Northeast, but after years of hard work, has established himself and Vermont Salumi’s products with a “front line army” of fans. I love how Pete talks about how owning a business is likely to be different than you expect (even when you think you know exactly what you want to do), but by embracing the challenges, and ensuring you have fun along the way, you will be successful. Coworking House & Crew Personal Assistants: Kristin Hardwick

Kristin Hardwick is a New Hampshire native, and what I would call a "multipreneur." Different than a serial entrepreneur, as she has not just had multiple, successive entrepreneurial ventures, but multiple ventures at the same time – triplets, as we speak - a photography business, a coworking space, and a new personal assistant company. During our conversation, I really appreciate Kristin being candid about she felt historically around not holding a college degree and how she managed those feelings for herself (and don’t let those comments fool you one bit, she is an incredible rockstar!), but one of the most fascinating parts of her story is around how much of her businesses have come from needs she discovered that would really better her own life – and through discovering her own needs, she also saw gaps and opportunities in the world for others. Really great stuff!
