The bad boys of Christmas past - Krampus
We thought that discussing the half goat half demon holiday horror would stuff the spook in your stocking but instead, Krampus crammed us full of laughter. Our elders have an awful lot to say about the younger generations, but after learning about the stories and fear tactics they created to pass the time and coerce children into being good- we're doubling down on our tiktok dances and memes. I'm not saying we'll never run through the streets in furry costumes, threatening children with bundles of sticks, but we certainly won't be jumping there as quickly as generations past.RESOURCES-https://www.history.com/news/krampus-christmas-legend-originhttps://www.britannica.com/topic/Krampushttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krampushttps://www.altpress.com/krampus-facts-myths-krampusnacht-trivia/GAZA/WEST BANK RESOURCES-https://medium.com/@scholarscoalition/for-immediate-release-u-s-4c2aecd11535https://irusa.org/middle-east/palestine/<p

TW: car accidents, lossThe world has felt really heavy lately and that weight was felt locally this past week. A total of 6 people were lost and 18 were injured in an accident that rocked our community. We try our best to find a balance between leaving space for grief, while also offering a distraction and this episode is no different. After addressing our local news, we utilize our favorite coping mechanism, humor to help bring light into a very dark time. In b*tchness and in wealth, or whatever they said - Checking In
We've been in the damn trenches over here. Between the light leaving the sky at 4 pm, sicko kids and no sleep, life has us over here sharing a floating door like Titanic intended. The day before we took off to fly across the country with our husbands, we decided to just sit down and have a quick catch up with all of our besties...and then we had an impromptu gnat killing spree....and then the episode abruptly ends because a random chunk of audio went missing. Forgive us for being absolute trash bags this week. We love you so much.

Flip floppin all over the ocean - The Bermuda Triangle
0:00 - 9:20 intro 9:21 - 30:00 addressing Gaza/Israel 30:00 Bermuda TriangleThere are things that as children, we all thought would be incredible threats to our safety- quicksand, amnesia, secret British twins and of course, the Bermuda Triangle. Today we're going to tell you about one that has proven to be a problem for roughly 1,000 people, including naval ships and airplanes. Whether you believe in it or not, there are numerous mysterious accounts of people, planes and ships going missing all in the triangular ocean between Bermuda, Miami and Puerto Rico. Didn't realize it was that close to Florida? Us either. Suddenly that state makes more sense. Before getting into todays topic, we hope you'll take a second to listen to some words about what is happening in Gaza. We will have resources linked below. This year, Heather and her husband, have merged the two worlds together with their daughter, Channing, in a family centric podcast titled, The Brooker Family Popcast. Be wise with your tools - Weaponized Therapy Speak
Every now and then we take a minute to slow down and pause to think "as wonderfully vast as the internet is, are we using the things we've been taught from it correctly?" We have made HUGE strides in the world of mental health and in order to protect the integrity of that progress, we also need to shed light on the moments that the tools that were created and distributed with the intent to heal, can also and are also being used to hurt. On this week's episode, we're sharing the slippery slope of weaponized therapy speak. 90% of the gifts were chicken nuggets, no sauce - Cici's Wedding
It's the episode we've all been waiting for.....IT'S THE CICI & FATHER CORY WEDDINGSODE. Sit back and relax as we recap every delicious moment of the day. It wouldn't be Ciara's wedding if there wasn't a haunting before the nuptials, so in true spooky bitch fashion, we have many a ghost encounter to retell. In addition to a wedding day play by play, you'll also hear stories of nature being nature with a quick chipmunk death and Father Cory's recent sleep weirdness. We spent days on an island celebrating the impending nuptials of everyone's favorite couple, CiCi & Father Cory. The island may have been in the middle of the piss waters of Lake Erie, but our time was nothing short of magical. Before recounting the trip by answering Patreon submitted questions, we take a slight detour into wikipedia. After many a golf cart tour made us aware of the rich history scattered about this cracker crumb of land, we decided to look into the history of Putin Bay. We are here to report that after watching the Barbie movie, we confidently can say that we still have no idea what would illicit such a fiery (pun deeply intended) response from BenKen. If you've seen the movie, you know what an absolute magical cinematic masterpiece it is. If you haven't watched it and you've been told that lighting toys on fire is an appropriate response to a woke, feminist agenda pushing trash film, we're here to tell you that no, that's not the correct response. Call it what you may- even woke and feminist if you're that attached to labels- but we'd suggest instead of arson, some self reflection would be a cheaper and safer option that will yield better results. If we still haven't convinced you, Ryan Gosling sings a song and beaches people off, let that alone be the reason you let this masterpiece grace y

What are you so eager about, you little idiot? - Law of Attraction

Consider this our attempt to understand and debunk the idea of being able to energetically change the world around you just by believing you can. While there is some foundational evidence on a quantum physics level, we can't quite guarantee the link between the physics and whatever pseudo witchy stuff we did under the moon was. You know when tv shows randomly have a musical episode and everyone hates it and it’s a miserable time and you spend the entire hour wishing they’d stop bursting into song? That’s this episode. We set out to bring you ghost stories of northeast Ohio, as seen in the book found in grocery store end-cap, but big Willy (not the authors preferred name) basically crushed all of our dreams and debunked some really disturbing legends of the NEO. In short, this episode’s POV- your friend bought a random book at the grocery store and you pulled it out after happy hour to be silly geese. Book- Ghosts and Legends of Northern Ohio By William G. The Oversteegen Sisters - Tangents & True Crime
For women's history month, we decided to bring you an insanely bad ass story about three women who joined the resistance against the fascist regime during WWII and together took down countless high ranking Nazi Officers. We often ask ourselves if we would be the people to step up and do what needs to be done, but hearing the way these women matched the brutality of some of the most horrific men in history has us wondering if we have what it takes go against our humanity in the name of justice. Truly an inspiration and reminder to us all to go down swinging. Remember that one scandals episode where we were talking entirely too much about butt stuff to share the heartwarming story that Ciara had saved? Well, since then, we've been able to compile an entire episodes worth of heartwarming stories to share. As the episode goes on, it does get progressively more difficult to tell whether or not we're saying heart worm or heart warm. For one story, we actually needed to include both. We've got big updates in the beginning on some of our favs including- Shanna's Nana, Scammy Tammy & Throbby Bobby. Also Ciara shares some BIG NEWS!

Sundown Towns - TANGENTS & TRUE CRIME
We have debated venturing back into the world of true crime, but wanted to make sure what we were covering was meaningful, informative and frankly a crime for us not to know. This week we're talking about Sundown towns. If you've never heard of these, you're not alone. Sundown towns are a part of the white-washed, buried, dark history that America actively tries to pretend didn't happen, and in some places may still be happening. It is imperative to know our history, lest we be doomed to repeat it. Along with learning about Sundown Towns, we discuss the murder of Carol Jenkins and why it took 30 years for her killer to be caught. We just out here having a silly goofy time reading history facts. Ciara told me not to draw attention to the amount of times she says *apparently* in the episode but I think that we all deserve to indulge in a special treat of our choosing every time she says it. We'd also like to formally apologize for the GIGANTIC gap in the video. The camera died and didn't save the file and it makes us more sad than you know. We hope the audio alone is worth sticking around for. There's also a sneaky little video of Daddy Shane somewhere in that gap as an incentive to stick around. Welcome to the Dimsdale Dilf Dome - Sharing your Scandals
We needed to give ourselves a break after a week long panic attack induced by the Grey Rocking Episode, so we're sharing your scandals...or well, we tried. In true us fashion we got big distracted a few times and rambled about things that many of you will dissociate during. Enjoy your mind vacations this episode, you've earned it. I will caution you that when you check back in, we were in a HIGHLY silly, goofy mood and I can't be sure what you'll be tuning back in to. At one point Ciara was speaking gibberish and Jeri was *their displeasure* squealing. Sky daddy, speed.

They're gonna burn the ferris wheel down - Grey Rocking
In 2023, we're becoming as dull and uninteresting as possible. We gave you a good two weeks into the new year before throwing something emotionally heavy at you. This time, instead of unlearning or diving deep into our psyche, we're teaching you (or perhaps enlightening you) about a technique that will get that pesky emotional ab*ser off your back- more specifically one who falls under the umbrella of narcissism. Remember- we are not professionals and don't in fact no dick about shit. We are reading from a couple articles and giving personal anecdotes and translations. Please feel free to continue a dialogue in the comments! Happy grey rocking!

Quit turtling in this pool right now - Icks
It's a tale as old as time, human meets human and decides that some of their behavior is grotesquely unbecoming. Some are subtle and others are absolute screaming "no's"- we're talking about icks. You can count on me to be reliably unreliable - 2022 Reflection
It's that time again for our longest running tradition on the podcast, our annual new year's reflection. We've spent a lot of time in the past looking back and realizing that we both manifested and predicted a lot of future events, but in listening to last years episode, I realized that we did a lot less foreshadowing and a lot more pep talking to our future selves. We're so proud of where we've come and are so grateful that you've been along for the ride. 2023 is going to be a hell of a year! (In a good way. Please don't take this literally universe. Jingle Jingle, Mommy's Drunk - HO-rror Stories
We got way too silly again this episode sharing more of your Ho-rror stories! The graphic nature of this episode is not just highlighted by your incredibly written sexcapades, but also by Jeri explaining how she's relearning how to use the bathroom both in and out of her compression garment. You were disrespectful to that toilet seat - Most Likely To
Jeri got her procedure and decided that she could power through an easy breezy episode, as long as it was done from the comfort of her bed. Ciara has never met a bed she didn't like so recording a cozy sleepover ep was a no brainer. After a quick 30 minute retelling of Jeri's recent medical experience, we spend the rest of the time regretting choosing Most Likely To as our game. The submissions were significantly funnier than we thought they'd be and Jeri's incision wasn't ready.

St. Francy McDrancy - Our Family History

Because we are both terrified of sending our DNA to undisclosed businesses, it seemed as if we'd always wonder how in the actual f word did our gene pool create the two of us in the same family. Turns out, someone in our family already did the work and put information about our dad's maternal side into a sweet little (big) binder. Ciara is on vacay and our Patrons voted we take a breakski. We decided to give you all a peak behind the curtain and see what Ladies After Dark is all about. Technically we're always after dark, but for the exclusives, we're just a smidge looser. We are so grateful to everyone who has encouraged us to take care of ourselves and add more logs to the burnout fire. Here is a throwback to a mental health check in that could have easily been recorded last week, minus the Ciara still being pregnant part. We’ve been having a really tough time lately. Barbara told us a regression was coming but she didn’t say it would hit so hard. We wanted to take a minute to just pause and sit with our feelings for a bit and answer some of your mental health related questions. Play along with us if you or take a minute to check in with yourself today. We love you and we’re glad you’re here!

We got too excited about our summer drinks and unintentionally went to hammy town - apologies in advance for the slop. Stay tuned for a special apology as well from Ciara for her thoughts about JC. Maybe I'll do your mom, that's hot - Ranking Millennial Nostalgia
When someone suggested we do a tier ranking episode, we decided to rank the only thing we would consider ourselves experts in - millennial nostalgia. You sent in your music, games, toys and tv shows for us to score on the scale from “eat my shorts,” to “all that and a bag of chips.” If you’re a mother Cusper on the gen x or zillennial side, you’ll still probably be able to relate to more than half.! We all felt some type of way about the fever dream that was the 90’s and 00’s - listen and see if you agree with our rankings! And if you don’t…talk to the hand.

Saw you bangin on the laundry, wasn't me - Spooky Stories
Since our 2 Girls, 1 Ghost sleepover extravaganza was more tangents that creepy kids, we decided to combine some of our ghost story and creepy kid submissions to produce a Spooky Stories episode! We simulated what it would be like going to a scary movie or haunted house with us in both this and the exclusive episode coming out on Friday. What would that look like? Inappropriately timed jokes and uncontrollable laughter. Apologies if you wanted this to actually be spooky.

I’m contractually obligated to go into labor - Mother’s Day Special w/ Erika from the Judgies
It is time for our annual Mother's Day Special! This year we brought on a special guest to help us share your stories - Erika from The Judgies! Erika and her husband/co-host Christian are expecting their first child and we thought it would be so kind of us to gently traumatize her before she writes a birth story of her own. We experienced some technical difficulties with this episode, but as one of you so kindly pointed out, we're parents and it represents the normalcy of being a f*ck up. Bless you!

You know that feeling at end of a long shift or a long drive where everything starts to blur together and anything can be funny? That's the kind of episode we needed this week. We took a dive into the interwebs to find stories and scripts written by "bots." We're pretty sure that in our absolute trash journalistic style that we came across the human author of these bot scripts, Keaton Patti. CW/TW - SA, Emotional & Physical Ab*se, Homoph*bia, Transph*bia This is one of the hardest episodes we've ever recorded, while also feeling like one of the most important episodes we've been able to record. We feel so lucky to be able to process growth with all of you and in this Faith 2.0 episode, we do just that. It has been 2 years since we recorded the first Faith episode and because of so many of you and the social climate of the world as of late, we have come back around to this topic to express our more current thoughts and feelings. You'll find for one of us they're severely different. In this episode, we share stories sent in from our Patrons and reveal our own journeys along the way. We value your experiences and your emotions and thank you for trusting us with your stories.

What's up, everyone! We are so excited to share this bonus episode with you from US Bank. Being able to use our podcast to shine a line on inequities and injustices is one of our top priorities. The episode we're sharing with you is about people who are doing the work to make sure people in power are held accountable when it comes to creating a more equitable and diverse workplace. With a paper and a pencil and her mind - Hidden Figures
It's Black History Month and we wanted to highlight an incredible story of three women who were the backbone of NASA in the 60's. We cannot wait to tell you all about Katherine Johnson, Mary Jackson & Dorthy Vaughan. These people went above and beyond to break barriers for black women in STEM & the workplace in general during the civil rights movement. It is important to keep telling these stories so that generations to come don't have to wait 30 years before hearing about them. Representation matters and it's an honor to tell their story! Thank you, Daddy Creator - The Simulation
If you know us, you know we love pondering the idea of existence to a point of dissociation. During this weeks episode we challenge anyone to stay present the entire time as we discuss the idea of the simulation. What is the simulation? Well according to some, there's a 50/50 chance we're living in a super computer, running through someone's "I wonder what would happen if...." scenario and at any point in time, the plug could be pulled or we could reach the end of the simulation and everything ceases to exist. Why aren't millennials having kids? - Relational Poverty
Jeri read a book- yes, Jeri- and she learned a new term that we want to share with you: Relational Poverty. We know that the world is every changing and society has seemingly been moving faster than humans can cope with. They say when you have children you get to experience all the joys of life again through fresh eyes, but what happens when what you see looks nothing like what you thought or what you were told? We're noticing how much we're grieving the loss of connection this holiday season and wanted to validate anyone out there who may be feeling it too. You're not alone and there's a reason that loneliness feels like a disease, in a way it is. Thanks for being a part of our community and helping us create a place for people to connect. 100 EPISODES!! If we’re honest- we never ever thought we’d get here and we certainly did think we’d have so many of you hanging out with us. We are more grateful to you than we can even begin to say and hope you enjoy this virtual sleepover where we continuously squeal, sniff, cry and laugh while sharing your messages. We did our best to integrate the audio but some sections may still be a little hard to hear in the car or in a house of screaming children….heads up from a friend. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for all of the love & support. CHEERS TO ENDLESS MORE!

Ope! Extra Snowflake - Fallacies
Society planted these weird seeds in our minds without us even realizing it called Fallacies. These ideas make us feel trapped in impossible either/or scenarios or completely fictitious dilemmas. We find ourselves afraid or ashamed to give up on things or move on from people or activities that no longer bring us joy because we've spent so long in that season, like time is a thing that can be wasted. We thought fallacies were going to be a fun thing to discuss and an interesting challenge used to retrain our brains - turns out we just got rage-y about politicians and the social climate of the world for an hour straight. Sorry, we know it's only Tuesday. It's gonna be a long week.

Let's all manifest the freedom of Britney Spears - Free Britney Movement
This is a story about a girl name....BRITNEY B*TCH. The time has come for us to talk about hashtag Free Britney. It is important to note that we are mediocre at best when it comes to researching, remembering timelines and staying on track so if you came here to educate yourself on what is happening with Britney & her conservatorship, we're barely prepared to have opinions so we're definitely not qualified to translate legalities so please take anything we say with the biggest bucket of salt that you can find. We're doing our best to highlight where we think things went wrong and just how terrible the early 2000's were for pop stars & the pursuit to understand the importance of mental health. Alright, now all eyes on us in the center of your screen just like a circus.

CIARA’S HAVING A......It’s the Mother’s Day special and we’dWe’d like to thank us for us. We’d like to gift ourselves the break and relaxation we need by getting in the bath. Yep. I will cry directly into a cheeseburger - Cognitive Dissonance
In a constant effort to completely rewrite the pathways of our brains, we introduce to you a conversation about cognitive dissonance. If you've ever enjoyed listening to R. Kelly's Ignition and felt guilty because of who he is as a person, you've experienced cognitive dissonance. If you have seen a documentary about the toxic materials in fast food or the mistreatment of animals, but still went to Wendy's later that week, you've experienced cognitive dissonance. Cognitive Dissonance is the beam of mental gymnastics and we are here to help call ours out and help shed light on how to challenge these moments of discomfort in our brains. Don't worry- we still don't even get into this until 30 minutes in so there's plenty of tangents to warm you up!

Girl, get your spoons - Imposter Syndrome 2.0
Toxic Positivity has a sister and her name is Imposter Syndrome. In 2019 we discussed what Imposter Syndrome is and how it effects our lives. Within the last 2 months, more people have shared and messaged us about this topic than anything else. To be honest- we forgot a lot of what we said. After re-listening to the episode, we decided that it was time for an update. In today's episode, we discuss how we feel about the versions of ourselves who recorded Imposter 1.0 and if we still identify with them. It shouldn't come as a surprise that times have changed and 2020, the year of forced reflection, has taught us more lessons than we realized.

It's time for the second installment of our series where we channel our inner "Dear Abby's" and give you the unqualified, yet completely solicited advice that you've been waiting for. Covering topics like transitioning to college, long distance relationships and battling the ever persistent imposter syndrome. If there's one thing we love to do, it's tell other people what to do, but we must remind you that we are not professionals. We are just two ladies with the internet, so take any and all advice with a huge spoonful of salt. Also don't eat salt. I did that once and I was finding it in my pores for weeks like the salted rim of a margarita. Cheers!

It’s helpful to just remind people that the sun came up again and the world is....the world and that happiness is state of mind- right? Not really. Today we’re talking all about Toxic Positivity and how the “good vibes only” movement has left little room for any other vibes at all. Artist, Criminal - Sharing Your Judgements
You guys sent in your judgements and we reacted to them! We talked last episode about how the first thought we have about something or someone isn't our fault. What we consume in the media coupled with the societal normals that are drilled into our heads since the moment we open our tiny, gooey eyes shape the way we view the world around us. Our second thought? THAT IS our responsibility. It is important to attack these thoughts. It is important to challenge our assumptions. It is important not to let stereotypes dictate our perception of others. By acknowledging that we have implicit bias, preconceived notions and judgments we can start to chip away at the source and re-train our brains to see the world through more compassionate, understanding and empathetic eyes. All these big words and we still somehow ended up talking about butts.

Tangents & True Crime - The Tulsa Race Massacre
On this episode of Tangents & True Crime, we are telling the story of the Tulsa Race Massacre. Never heard of it? We don’t blame you. One state official from Oklahoma calls the horrific event the state’s “dirty little secret.” Across the country, we are seeing people fight for “history” and the figures that are attached to the specific history that we’re taught, without realizing that so much of history has been kept quiet or omitted completely from curriculum. It is imperative that we learn these stories and that we re-tell history accurately to develop a full understanding of the impact that it has on today’s world. Please don’t lose passion, motivation or momentum. *Trigger warning. Abusive relationships and assault are discussed in this week’s episode.Restrictions have begun to lift and we felt it was time to start recording in person again. Over the past couple months, Ciara has been dropping some new vocabulary and Jeri has been pretending to know what it is, specifically the term “gaslighting.” Most recently, we have seen it used in reference to the BIPOC, and we felt if there are people who can’t relate in that way, that we would discuss various situations that people experience gaslighting to help develop all of our understanding. From parenting to relationships and anything in between, we’re giving you examples of gaslighting and tips on how to heal from it.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/ladies-and-tangents/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brand

“You want equality for all. You want to stand up and put your hand on your chest and say this is the United States of America...we’re not united at all. This isn’t equal at all.” On this weeks episode, we talk to Nick Pryor, a black man from Pittsburgh, PA who settled down with his family in rural Ohio. Nick shares his perspective on what it means to be a black man in America and his hope for growth, accountability and change. We shared conversations about white-washed history, attachment to racially charged monuments and symbols and the importance of YOUR vote to move forward toward a more tolerant, inclusive and equal nation for ALL.

You can't bring change if you're not uncomfortable - White Fragility w/ Paige Eff
“That’s where the term ‘White Fragility’ comes from. It’s a person that wants to acknowledge that racism exists, but they don’t want to endure the stress or the discomfort of talking about it...they want to walk away from it...It’s the inability to endure the same stress about racial injustice that I have been feeling my whole life.” For this episode we sat down with Paige Eff, a mother, wife, future nurse and biracial black woman who reached out to share her story of growing up in a predominantly white town. We wanted to ask her some questions about her experience with racial injustice as a black woman and through our open discussion, she educated us about white fragility. She challenged us to ask ourselves tough questions surrounding our preconceived notions and assumptions about the black community. We hope you’ll listen with an open mind and challenge yourself to answer those same questions.

Paddy Daddy sent the snakes out of Ireland - History of St. Patrick's Day
To try to create a humorous description to go with this episode feels in some ways wrong. We are aware of the heartbreaking stories and the gravity of the situation at hand.
