Ep. 92 | Are you the Purr-fect Inventory Manager? How & Why Inventory Matters

On this jam-packed episode of Inventory Nation our Host Nicole Clausen is reminding us why we do what we do and how to answer that all-important question: Am I doing a good job? You’ll learn why it’s important to establish a baseline and how to put in place objective measures to assess the health and functionality of our inventory management systems. We don’t want to wear rose-colored glasses, for sure, but inventory managers also tend to be super-hard on themselves, which doesn’t help anyone! The goal is to acknowledge our impacts, celebrate the victories and put in place processes (like reorder tags or practice system software) that keep our practices running smoothly and profitably. Efficient inventory management pays real financial, practical and even emotional dividends for vets, technicians, support staff and – most of all – our patients! And if you’ve ever felt like you don’t quite know where you fit into your practice or the job seems thankless and overwhelming, we’ve got yo

Ep. 91 | What to Do When Your DVMs Want ALL the Options

Here’s a scenario you may have experienced (and stressed over): Your DVMs seem to want ALL the options on the shelves and right NOW! On this episode of Inventory Nation our host, Nicole Clausen, shares a systematic framework to help you navigate what’s already in stock, massage the flow of products and create ordering procedures to accommodate (but not over-provide for) the demands of your practice. For many care providers, an understandable (but unnecessary and unhelpful) scarcity mindset can overwhelm good planning. That’s where our job as analytical, well-informed inventory managers comes into play. We are able to explain the implications of carrying unpaid goods over long periods of time, the risks of expirations and tying up money that could better be used elsewhere. You’ll learn about steps to take and processes to put in place that will provide guardrails (and boundaries!) when you’re feeling pressured to make decisions that aren’t documented, data-backed or fully informed by

Ep. 90 | Going from Selling 2 in a Month to 17 in a Day -- What to Do Next!

We’ve all experienced it – those unpredictable surges in demand that come out of nowhere and throw us totally off our game. On this episode of Inventory Nation, Host Nicole Clausen walks us through this unsettling scenario. More importantly, she’s giving us a methodical approach to figuring out why these spikes happen and how (with a little planning) we can stay ahead of the curve. Given how hard we work to keep our systems running smoothly and everything readily available for our teams – whenever and in whatever quantity they need – it can be very frustrating when a totally unforeseen, seemingly random run occurs. Suddenly a certain medication or critical supply has been completely depleted. The cupboard is bare. Talk about a stressful situation – one we all want to avoid! You’ll learn on this episode about three key questions to ask when navigating those big spikes and how to get buy-in from your team to help keep things on track. Ep. 26 | How to Make Inventory Counts Suck Less

Cycle counting is an incredibly beneficial task and a key aspect of your inventory management strategy for your veterinary practice. First off, what is cycle counting? Typically when any inventory counting is mentioned, deep-seated dread and panic immediately come to the surface. If the very mention of counting makes you think of spending long hours (maybe even days!) at the end of the year counting pills, maybe even needles, until your brain is fried, you are not alone. Cycle counting is the opposite of this. With cycle counting, you count small amounts of inventory throughout the year. For example, with cycle counting, you can set up a schedule to count 2-4 products every day rather than counting your inventory for days at a time. You can also download your FREE roadmap to inventory success here: https://vetlogic.co/inventory-pathway/FOLLOW OR CONTACT US: Website | <a href='https://www.linkedin.com/i

In this episode, we are going to be focusing on something a little different than inventory. Instead, we’re going to be talking about another important aspect of veterinary medicine; mental health. Not only that, but the rates of burnout and compassion fatigue are incredibly high in our industry. We go above and beyond on a regular basis to care for others; whether it’s our patients, our clients, or our team. I think it’s important to care for ourselves just as much as we care for others.FOLLOW OR CONTACT US: Website | LinkedIn | Facebook | Instagram

Ep. 03 | Managing Backorders in your Veterinary Practice

In this episode, we are going to be talking all about how to manage backorders in your practice. It seems like backorders have become increasingly more frequent and lengthy in the last couple of years. I remember back when I first started managing inventory, which seems like many moons ago now, if a product was on backorder, it was either short-lived or it was fairly easy to find an alternative. Now, not so much. Between the class II opioids, eye medications, antibiotics, and other critical backorders, we are stuck between a rock and a hard place.FOLLOW OR CONTACT US: Website | LinkedIn | Facebook | Instagram

Ep. 01 | Continuously Improving your Inventory with Caitlin Shaw, LVT

Caitlin shares her advice with other inventory managers: "Try to take advantage of all available resources, ask questions, network, ask people on Facebook groups, the Veterinary Inventory Strategy Network, and Vetcove discussion boards. Question the methods that are in place when you take over, ask yourself, "is there a better way to do this?". It doesn't have to all be changed overnight, it's a process, it will take time to make the system your own. But, it's all about looking at each process, and saying "is this the best way I can be doing this?" and if not, what are some other ways and other resources to reach out to and see about other options that might be a better fit. Always be flexible and be willing to learn, grow, and change!"FOLLOW OR CONTACT US: Website | LinkedIn | <a href='http://www.
