72. What are the differences between investing in and out of super?

Tash and Ana recently received a thought-provoking question from a listener named Angela:“I’m new to the world of investing and looking to get started. What are the differences between putting more money into superannuation, compared to ETFs? I’m a sole trader, so I can decide how much I invest in super.”Firstly – thanks for sharing your question, Angela! Secondly – this is a pertinent topic, since we’ve received versions of this questions from multiple listeners. That’s why, in this episode, we set out to compare the potential pros and cons of super and ETFs. As a bonus, we also discuss the tax changes in this new financial year, and how they may impact you.Enjoy!@tashinvests@anakresina@getrichslowclub@pearlerhqGet Rich Slow ClubPearlerYouTubeDisclaimerAny advice is general and does not consider your financial situation needs, or objectives, so consider whether it’s appropriate for you. 71. What buying a $100 moisturiser taught me about money feat. Emma from the Broke Generation

Emma from The Broke Generation has shared some deep wisdom on this podcast. However, while practical strategies and structured insights are useful guides, there are moments in which we learn all we need from a single experience. In this session, Tash details how the purchase of a $100 moisturiser altered her relationship with money. At a glance, it seems like a strange catalyst for change. However, for Tash, the moisturiser symbolised a fork in the road – a choice about the life she wanted to live. Whether or not you use moisturiser yourself, you’ll be able to relate; we all have our own “$100 moisturiser”, and how we respond to it can influence how we manage our finances.Tune in for the anecdotes, and leave with a fresh perspective on your own money habits!@tashinvests@anakresina@getrichslowclub@pearlerhqGet Rich Slow ClubPearlerYouTubeDisclaimerAny advice is general and does not consider your financial situation needs, or objectives, so consider whether it’s appropriate for you. 70. Card Points 101: How to make the most of rewards

As a general rule, the Get Rich Slow Club approaches credit card points with a wary eye. Anything that compels us into spending more money clashes with our philosophy, and points can fall into that category. With that said, there are obviously times when we need (or simply want) to spend money. At moments like these, points can be a nifty hack in our quest to get rich slow. That’s why, in this episode, Tash and Ana dive into the weird world of bonus points. Beyond providing an overview on how they work, they also compare the pros and cons of different points systems; explore how to earn them easily; and discuss how to spend them for maximum effect.@tashinvests@anakresina@getrichslowclub@pearlerhqGet Rich Slow ClubPearlerYouTubeDisclaimerAny advice is general and does not consider your financial situation needs, or objectives, so consider whether it’s appropriate for you. 69. Is investing in VDHG long-term a good idea?

VDHG is a very popular investment within the Australian long-term investing community. It was no surprise, then, when a listener recently asked us:“Is investing in VDHG long-term a good option?”At the Get Rich Slow Club, we don’t like to deal in “good investments” or “bad investments”. After all, the right investment for you might be the wrong choice for someone else. That’s because VDHG’s (or any asset’s) suitability for you can depend on a range of factors, from your risk tolerance, to the amount you want to invest. In this session, we discuss these different factors in-depth. By doing so, we hope to help you feel empowered about choosing your investments – whether it’s VDHG or anything else.@tashinvests@anakresina@getrichslowclub@pearlerhqGet Rich Slow ClubPearlerYouTubeDisclaimerAny advice is general and does not consider your financial situation needs, or objectives, so consider whether it’s appropriate for you. 61. "I only invest in two ETFs. Am I diversified enough?"

Recently, a Get Rich Slow Club listener asked Tash and Ana an interesting question (which we’ve paraphrased below):“I invest in two ETFs which track the S&P 500 and the ASX 200. Should I be diversifying even more, or should I stick to what feels good (and easy), which is automatically investing in the ETFs I currently have?”Tash and Ana love questions like this, because they get to the crux of getting rich slow. That’s why they’ve committed this episode to approaching it from every angle. 55. How to pursue impact and sustainable investing through venture capital feat. Zarmeen Pavri

In the investing space, there are two concepts which have gained a lot of traction lately. One is “venture capital” – or, to put it oversimply, investment in startups. 54. HECS-HELP debt: should you pay it off early?

Are you an Australian citizen who has started a local uni degree in the last 35 years? If so, you’ll know about HECS-HELP debt. In the early stages of your career, HECS-HELP debt can be pretty easy to forget about. For starters, you don’t need to start making payments until your income reaches a certain threshold. And even then, it’s deducted from your salary, meaning it simply feels like another form of tax. It stands to reason, then, that many people would decide to let time and pre-tax income whittle it away. But here’s the kicker: the more you earn, the more you’re required to pay towards the principle. And here’s the second kicker: the debt is indexed to inflation. In other words, when inflation increases, so does what remains of your HECS-HELP debt. Armed with this knowledge, is it worth making additional payments to clear your HECS-HELP debt?In this session, Natasha Etschmann (Tash Invests) and Ana Kresina (Head of Product & Community at Pearler) explore this very topic. In doing so, they discuss how HECS-HELP debt works, and then dissect the arguments for and against paying it off early. By the show’s wrap, you’ll have a clearer idea of how to make the right decision for your goals.@tashinvests@anakresina@getrichslowclub@pearlerhqGet Rich Slow ClubPearlerYouTubeDisclaimerAny advice is general and does not consider your financial situation needs, or objectives, so consider whether it’s appropriate for you. Recently, the Get Rich Slow Club received an interesting question from a listener:Is it better for a person in their late 20s to funnel their savings and earnings into ETFs, or to work towards a home deposit via a high-interest savings account? While there’s no universally “correct” answer, there are a range of factors that can influence the decision. 30. Do I need a financial adviser? feat. Deline Jacovides, founder of Mazi Wealth

If you’ve seen, heard, or read any financial content, you’ve probably stumbled across this phrase: “speak to a financial adviser.” Usually, it comes from content creators who don’t want to mislead their audience, or appear to provide recommendations. The reasons behind it are understandable – generalised content doesn’t account for specific circumstances, and shouldn’t be construed as advice. But, real talk: do most people need a financial adviser? Or do content creators simply mention them to cover themselves? To answer this question, Natasha Etschmann (Tash Invests) and Ana Kresina (Head of Product & Community at Pearler) sit down with Deline Jacovides, the founder of financial advisory group Mazi Wealth. In this episode, Deline, Tash, and Ana discuss when to seek a financial adviser, and how to find one. In fact, FIRE has inspired a community of long-term investors, savers, and budgeters across Australia. And best of all, FIRE doesn’t discriminate; all it asks of you is patience and consistency. In this Get Rich Slow Club episode, Natasha Etschmann (Tash Invests) and Ana Kresina (Head of Product & Community at Pearler) discuss this long-term strategy in all its glacial glory. They also help you calculate your own FIRE number, so you can work towards the right early retirement for you.
