About
The intersection of womanhood, race, and ethnicity can be a challenging place to navigate alone – speaking from my own personal experience of navigating Corporate America and coaching people all over the world. I decided it was time to advocate for women and create a podcast that provides encouragement, accountability, and a strategic approach to navigating the nuances of the working woman. In this podcast, I’ll teach you how to think of your career holistically, looking at it from all angles as you take charge in discovering a meaningful and purpose-driven career. I’ll also be interviewing other dynamic women who’ve experienced and overcome similar challenges in their career with grace, confidence and of course strategy.

Performance Reviews

Creating clear and defined expectations is part of the dynamic of any workplace, and at many companies this manifests itself as a performance review. While being able to effectively communicate strengths and weaknesses is key to any working relationship, the performance review can often have built in biases, especially for Black and Brown people and women. In today's episode of Career Chasers, Latesha Byrd talks about why the performance review is a good time to level set expectations, dealing with biases, the power of having a brag sheet or self review, and five steps you can do to knock your performance review out of the park. Also, you can win a free coaching session with Latesha, and get featured in the Season 1 finale on next week's episode. All you have to do is listen to the first part of today's episode to find out how!

Dealing with Microagressions in the Workplace

Stop me if you've heard this before: After writing a fire blog post or delivering a bomb presentation, your coworker comes up to you in the breakroom and says, "Wow, you were so articulate!" Or, "I didn't know you could write so well!"   Despite the prefix, microaggressions aren't so small. In fact, they are a pretty big deal, and having to navigate a workplace where people see phrases like this as compliments can have a major effect on your mental health and wellbeing. In today's episode, Latesha shares some of her experiences with microaggressions in the workplace, and some things to keep in mind when dealing with microagressors to reclaim your power.    Resources:   The “Problem” Woman of Colour in the Workplace When Black Women Go From Office Pet to Office Threat
