"This is not a perfect world, we
see things everyday..
That make us take a second look,
or make us turn away..
The heart of man has turned to stone,
and compassion is not found..
We've taken love and friendship
and beat them to the ground..
Let's end this reign of violence, and
halt these evil designs..
We are all in this as one human race,
to that we must resign..
So, please reach out so all of us cease
the malice and the pain..
And maybe one day soon, we'll hear
sweet music in the rain.."

Over years of mixing ambient music, I have come to fall in love not only with certain artists, but labels who publish troves of ambient gold. This mix begins a series of albums named after some of my favorite labels.
To start us off is Imaginary North, a Toronto-based label created by Daniel Field, who also produces exquisite ambient works as Kilometre Club. Established in 2022, Imaginary North focuses on bringing together like-minded musicians across the world to create compilations, collaborations, and individual pieces of music. T

Human Is Alive
This mix is dedicated to one of my favorite ambient producers, Human Is Alive (Pavel Lipatov). He is amongst the most featured artists in this podcast for a good reason: anything he touches turns into blissful ambient gold. He's constantly releasing beautiful atmospheric music, featuring layered textures of drone sounds and a fair bit of natural elements. His music never fails to evoke all-around positive emotions, including sense of calm, melancholy, and nostalgia (the latter is a prominent theme with his Reflections Of The Past subproject). On top of that, he's a genuinely nice guy

And still the one thing that I wish for

There are moments I remember

For those few and precious moments

"Every day I get closer to our meeting
I feel like I’ve been walking this path for a thousand years
and yet I’m still not there
So close, and yet so far still
But I keep walking
There’s only one direction
I keep walking
because behind every sun’s setting is a rising
behind every storm is a refuge
behind every fall is a rise
and behind every tear is a cleansing of the eyes
I keep walking
I have nothing but your promise

This mix is dedicated to Mike Graff, a Minneapolis-based composer, producer, and sound designer creating exquisite ambient-cinematic music as Dear Gravity. His work has graced almost all editorial ambient playlists you will come across, and has been featured worldwide in a variety of films and projects.
Mike's motivation for creating this beautiful music is one that I deeply resonate with when creating Calm Pill mixes. “Our world isn’t slowing down,” Graff says, “And when I try to keep up with it all, I begin to disconnect from my soul—from the ability to feel, notice and live. This mix celebrates a life milestone. Now that I'm 40, I look back in appreciation of every period of my life that has shaped who I am. What seemed like hardship was a necessary lesson in retrospect, and a step in a grand plan to get me here. Here is a place where I feel content, with a clearer Purpose. Creating these mixes is part of it. It's my way of helping my fellow humans everywhere, and my way of leaving the world a better place than I found it.
I move forward in life with a deep sense of gratitude for the many bounties I have been blessed with, past and present. I pray that I continue on the steadfast Path that gives life its u

Gratefulness and humility are two qualities that elevate humankind. Combined, they cushion our falls in life. Because in a way, they help us "fall upwards", such that our hardships become catalyst for ever greater appreciation of blessings we once had, and ones we continue to have. When we let go of entitlement, we develop a sense of awe towards everything we get to experience, no matter the magnitude or level of familiarity.
Lee Brown (IG @fallingup79) writes some beautiful heartfelt reflections. He shared with me the following passage that he wrote while listening to a Calm Pill mix:

All That Blooms Must Fall
"One autumn day I was in the park. Absorbed in the contemplations of a very small, beautiful leaf 🍁. Shaped like a heart, it was barely hanging on the branch, nearly ready to fall down. I asked the leaf if it was frightened because it was autumn and the other leaves were falling.
The leaf told me, “No. During the whole spring and summer I was completely alive. I worked hard to help nourish the tree, and now much of me is in the tree. I am not limited by this form. I am also the whole tree, and when I go back to the soil, I will continue to nourish the tree. So I don’t worry at all. As I leave this branch and float to the ground, I will

"imagine, the time when we all learn the art of living
rather than just continuous breathing
there'll be no more lies
there'll be no more cries
we'll all have our sun shining through
and we'll look at the same skies of blue

"In each of us
There once was a fire
And for some of us
There seem as if there are only ashes now
But when we dig in the ashes
We find one ember
And very gently we fan that ember
Blow on it
It gets brighter
And from that ember we rebuild the fire
Only thing that's important is that ember
That's what you and I are here to celebrate
The ember gets stronger
Flame starts to flicker a bit
And pretty soon you realize that all we're going to do for eternity
Is sit around the fire."

"Cold and drifting,
nothingness and floating,
swimming through zero gravity,
A thought emerges slowly,
drudging through the whale's mind.
"What is this..?"
This lonesome earth is not my home

I'm waiting on my chariot ride
To home beyond the blue.
What splendor there awaits!"

"The sun is so beautiful in the early morning. It does something to the trees that you don’t see any other time of the day. I think we all want the same thing: A quiet peace. Maybe just even a single moment of it, to close our eyes and just be okay. For even a single second, to not feel worried about something, sad about something. To not crave something we don’t–or can’t–have. Just to be there, okay. Still. Silent. On the inside. Maybe that’s what’s so beautiful about this time of the day: The stillness. And the hope that maybe this day will be different."

Way Back When
It's my 39th birthday today :) 🎂
Inspired by the soothing music of Human Is Alive (humanisalive.bandcamp.com), I wanted this mix to induce reminiscence of happy moments from our past. Amidst the swirl of incessant, attention-demanding world we live in, I sometimes get these fleeting recollections of past events, people, or even things that brought me joy. I made this mix for such moments, so it can hopefully fade to the background while the mind takes a trip down memory lane.

"In the shadow of a moonlight gaze
a cold and misty type of haze
washes over me as if my soul
has left and made me half, not whole
as night envelops everything around
the darkness heaps its magic on the ground
as features change and dampness marks its place
a pleasing smile appears upon my face
I love that nature calls me every day
Inviting me to meet it on the way
and taking me to places dark, yet grey
showing all its beauty on the way"

There are 3 principles guiding the creation of Calm Pill mixes: song curation with variety, production value, and showcasing artists. On the last one, every Calm Pill mix features several artists whose great music deserves to be discovered and heard, but every now and then, a whole artist album inspires a mix of its own, and this is one such mix.

Where mysteries abound and excitement grows.
A place out of reach of any man's hands,

Place to Rest My Head
As I lay my head to rest,
I pray my dreaming will be blessed:
With glittering starlight upon the moon,
Floating like a lost balloon.
With chuckling streams that catch the light,
And songbirds trilling with delight.
With soft white clouds in pure blue skies,
A lilting breeze that gently sighs.
With weeping willows that quietly droop
Their shadows, as they drape and stoop.
With blossom scents that chase the air,
Like children run without a care.
As I lay my head to sleep,

Every season has its special beauty and autumn is no exception. Watching the trees turn from a uniform green to all varieties of gold, yellow and red is a spectacular experience. After some time in the works, I'm happy to share this latest installment in the Calm Pill series: a first of a kind double album that I created exclusively as a guest mix on AmbientMusicGuide.com.
It’s inspired by The Endless, a 2018 supernatural indie film that made an impression on me. The mix uses several tracks from the score and sprinkles key passages from the dialog thro

The spirit of spring rises,
into a blissful gate to heaven.
Where dreams revive, and flourish,
into a luscious landscape,
set like a haven.
When the sunset shields,
against the vibrant contours of nature,
in a garden of enticing and cultivated blossoms,
leaving a spectacular scenery,
with glamour, and a feeling of rapture.

Day & Night
Do you trust night to turn to day?
I think I trusted it once.
Maybe a long time ago.
I know my brain believes,
letting go gets you gobbled up,
so you never see the day.
Still, I feel my heart telling me,
to trust and just let go,
to know the world has hope,
to know that love is shown.
Stop running from it all,
stop chasing all that’s wrong.
let the night keep rolling on,
and watch it turn to day.

We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of Infinity. Life is Eternal. But the expressions of life are ephemeral, momentary, transient.
We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment, but it is transient. It is a little parenthesis in eternity. If we share with caring, lightheartedness, and love, we will create abundance and joy for each other. And then this moment will have been worthwhile

"There is a sense of timelessness in the twilight.
Of time standing still and extending into the infinite.
Of sadness and hope.
Of yearning and satisfaction.
Of unrest and peace.
Where time has no meaning and
the mundane melts away into the symphony of colours in the sky..
..and your eyes follow the fading light and your soul knows its purpose once again."
Happy new year my dear listeners!

A sunny afternoon at the park lake.
Waves ripple ashore.
Birds sing in the trees.
Children laugh and shout at some playground in the distance.
And here you stand looking at your reflection
trembling on the water, you ask: Who am I?
And your picture looks back at you and answers:
You're no longer who you were, you're almost who you'll be.
Ego te absolvo.
You bend down.
You pick up a stone.
And as you hold it in your hand
it's getting heavier and heavier.
And just before it's too weighty to hold any longer,
you throw it with all your might into your face on the water.

It Was Beautiful
It was beautiful
It was green and clean.
The smell of fresh air
The sound of the river flowing
I love everything happening there.
I pinched myself to see if it was real.
That was when I realized I was dreaming.
Couldn't it be real?

The Healing Lake (TV-PG)
I shall have some peace here, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
I hear it in the deep heart’s core.

This mix is an ode to my good friend Tonepoet. His original guitar-infused ambient productions and mixes are second to none and are always a source of inspiration to me. I've collaborated with him on two previous mixes which are to this day some of my best work and a source of pride in my mixing career. He has a new album in the works an

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. Listening to this mix, think of someone you know who can use such an act of kindness, and remember:

When peace sets over, no feeling compares. A mellow, loving feeling pervades this mix, helping you turn down the volume knob on life.
“Every hour of your life that ticks by, there are numerous points and moments when you can choose to pause - and be aware of your mental and physical state. At any given point, you can freeze the flow that is your life, and be fully conscious for a moment.”

Dreams from the Sea
I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking,
I must down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.
I must down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where t

Fragments of Memories
Today's moments are tomorrow's memories, but sometimes we don't know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. What would you do differently if you knew?

Clair de Lune
The true joy of a moonlit night is something we no longer understand. Perhaps we can learn to appreciate its peaceful beauty and with this kind of relaxing piano music.
“How beautiful the moonlight’s shining on this bank!
Let’s sit here and let the music fill our ears.
Stillness and nighttime are perfect for beautiful music.
Sit down, Jessica. Look at the stars,
See how the floor of heaven is inlaid with small disks of bright gold.
Stars and planets move in such perfect harmony
that some believe you can hear music in their movement.
If you believe this, even the smallest star sings like an angel in its

The Safest Place
Every one of us has their comfort zone. This mix invites you to ponder what's beyond. Is your safest place really what you think it is?

When everything is moving and shifting, the only way to counteract chaos is stillness.
"There is a presence, a silence, a stillness which is here by itself. There is no doer of it, no creator of this stillness. It is simply here in you, with you. It is the fragrance of your own self. There is nothing to do about this, it is naturally present. This fragrance of peace, this spaciousness, it is the fragrance of your own being." ― Mooji
