Those prepared to go into the office every day could save about €50 (US$60) per week in January 2023 if they can walk, run or cycle into their workplace. Those working from home in January could expect to pay around €175 a week in energy costs and other incidentals included in Bloomberg’s calculations such as buying in your own coffee, a freebie in many offices. The combined cost of energy bills — factoring in the lower consumption expected — and five return trips on the Tube from London’s Zone 4 would be about €160 a week in January 2023, a €15 saving. For those taking the bus, the total cost is about €140, a €35 weekly saving. In both cases, any rise in the cost of the commute will eat into those savings. Uswitch estimates that the average monthly energy bill could hit €683 in January for home workers, compared to €492 for those heading to the office. The catchy singalong by Pinkfong, a South Korean educational brand, was uploaded in June 2016. According to the Guinness World Records, the hit most likely originated as a campfire song dating back to the previous century. Just as you might create a document in Microsoft Word and send it via Gmail to a colleague to read on an iPad, items in the metaverse should be able to move across an ecosystem of competing products, holding their value and function. An original piece of digital art bought as a non-fungible token, or NFT, from Company A, say, should be displayable on the virtual wall of a house in a game made by Company B. The metaverse won’t reach its full potential — millions of people accessing and living in the virtual world anywhere, at any time — without ultrafast Internet. On Nov. 1 Osaka only reported seven cases, the first time the city had reported single-digit infections since July 2020. As a whole, Japan reported 86 cases on Nov. 1, the first time the country had reported under triple-digit cases since June 27, 2020. Lin wrote that if numbers continue to drop at this rate, a "Palau-style" tourism bubble between Japan and Taiwan is possible. Lin suggested that such a bubble should begin with Okinawa or more rural areas such as Shikoku, the Hokuriku region, or the Tohoku region. He then conceded, "I know I'm dreaming; people can always have dreams, right?" At a press conference on Friday (Nov. 5), a reporter asked whether, given the slowing outbreak in Japan, a travel bubble could be created between Japan and Taiwan. Health Minister and CECC head Chen Shih-chung (陳時中) responded by saying the outbreak in Japan seems to be "slowly disappearing, which is a good phenomenon." Mo Huadou is 40 days old and sports a black coat decorated with white dots and lines, which will turn into the signature black-and-white tapir look when she reaches 6 months old. She has grown from 5.6 kilograms at birth to her current weight of 21 kg. To prepare Mo Huadou for her future outdoor adventures and meet-and-greets, zookeepers arranged for her first outing early on the morning of Sept. 10, before the zoo opened. While Molly enjoyed being out again and immediately began marking her territory with urine, Mo Huadou was hesitant at first, staying close to the gate until mustering enough courage to take her first step out, reported Taipei Zoo. Once she had gotten out, however, curiosity overcame apprehension, and she began exploring her surroundings on her own. According to the zoo, she would “lay down for a moment, sit up, zoom forward, then brake sharply all of a sudden,” smelling around and playing before catching up with her mother again. Taipei Zoo said though this was Molly’s first time giving birth, she has done very well and raised a healthy baby. Currently, Mo Huadou is learning to eat solid foods in addition to getting milk from Molly, and the mother and daughter have been very vocal and communicative with each other. Beneath a post on the zoo's Facebook page, people who visited and saw the tapirs Sunday (Sept. 19) shared photos and videos of the pair. In Tainan, a freak wave swept two joggers off a seaside path, with one later pronounced dead. A total of 106 school buildings were damaged, with the damage estimated to total NT$12.28 million (US$441,000), CNA reported. The Central Weather Bureau said that while the tropical depression was moving away from Taiwan, rainfall would ease Sunday — though unstable weather would likely continue. Judo originated in Japan in the late 19th century, as an activity embracing physical, mental, educational and moral aspects. The founder, Dr. Kano Jigoro, was the first Japanese member of the International Olympic Committee. Judo was introduced as an Olympic sport for men at the Tokyo 1964 Games. The event took place at the Nippon Budokan. Judo will return to the same venue for Tokyo 2020. The women's events were added to the Olympic programme at Barcelona 1992. The objective of judo is to throw or takedown an opponent to the ground; subdue them with a pinning hold, or force them to submit with a joint lock or a choke. Athletes (known as judoka) wearing white or blue judogi (judo uniforms) face each other on a 10m x 10m mat and deploy any of the 100 techniques available. These are divided into 68 nagewaza (throwing techniques) and 32 katamewaza (grappling techniques). The highest score a judoka can earn is “Ippon”, it is the ultimate way to claim victory in the match and is the highest score in judo. After Ippon is scored, the match is over. A judgement of Ippon for a throwing technique puts the opponent on their back with strength, speed and control. If a throw or other technique is successfully executed but all the requirements for ippon are not met, waza-ari (a half-point) is awarded. Two waza-ari's in one match is the equivalent of Ippon. Penalties can also be awarded for passivity or behaviour deemed contrary to the spirit of judo. If scores are tied, the bout goes into ‘Golden Score' or overtime. The first contestant to achieve a further score wins. Judoka execute these techniques in the blink of an eye and an athlete behind on points can often achieve a major turnaround in the final seconds of a match. With medical capacity stretched to the maximum amid a nationwide outbreak of COVID-19, which led to the suspension of all non-urgent or unnecessary medical procedures, the supply of blood remains urgent, it said Changhua County Christian Hospital chief medical officer Liu Sen-yung (劉森永) said that the blood shortage could be the most severe one the nation has experienced over the past 20 years. Fresh supplies of types A and B blood are the most urgent, he added. The hospital would start a blood donation campaign tomorrow, accepting donations in a mobile facility near its main entrance, he said. Chang Shu-chen (張淑真), head nurse of the hospital’s nursing department, said that people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 should wait 14 days after receiving their last dose before donating blood. People who regularly take medication should not donate blood, Chang said. Deputy Minister of Health and Welfare Shih Chung-liang (石崇良) said that fewer people donate blood amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
