English, Political, 2022 seasons, 393 episodes, 3 days, 21 hours, 48 minutes
About
The Jerry Springer Podcast: Tales, Tunes and Tomfoolery is a weekly mix of comedy, liberal political talk and roots music performed by up and coming song writers and groups. Jerry is joined by Jene Galvin and Megan Hils as they compare their dissimilar lives, convo about events of the day and occasionally welcome a phone guest, some real and others you wonder. Like State Senator Tip Kemper, who recently proposed a literacy bill requiring citizens to read a book a month and submit a written report to the government at the post office. But in the middle of each episode, Jerry shows his serious side with a unique take on a current political or social issue drawing from his years as Cincinnati's mayor and top ranked news anchor. Performed before a small audience at the Folk School Coffee Parlor in Ludlow, Kentucky, The Jerry Springer Podcast is live streamed at jerrryspringer.com and Facebook Live and archived on the podcast's website and all major podcast apps. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy (https://acast.com/privacy) for more information.

On this week's show Jerry can't figure out how to turn the sound off on his Iphone.Jerry's commentary: Our institutions, indeed brilliant as they are drawn up, are no stronger than the character of the people who inhabit them. It is!Jerry picks up tabs of two tables while we were out to dinner. He's not making it a habit if you see him at a restaurant. Jerry, what are you seeking atonement for during this year‘s Jewish holiday? His Rabbi makes him stay later for his extra misdeeds. Musical guest: Spooky Foxhttps://www.facebook.com/spookyfoxforever/ Hosted on Acast. The Internets are blowing up with rumors of Jerry Springer getting a new TV gig. No more tawdry tales of broken promises and broken hearts, this new rumor has Jerry as Judge. That's right, in the footsteps of Judge Judy and several others, Jerry may be the newest member of the esteemed group known as 'TV Judges'.Jerry then recounts his days 'gigging' in coffee shops in Cincinnati in the early 70s in a futile attempt to pick up girls. He then goes off on Saudi Arabia for the hideous murder of Journalist Jamal Kashoggi. Is the Controversy Around Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court Over? EP 185

Exciting times as we welcome our new co-host, Maria Carelli. Maria is a folk singer songwriter herself, so she fits right in with us. She also has a wonderful temperament, in stark contrast to Jerry and Jene.We asked Maria Carrelli about her song writing, performing and rock climbing. With Jene's total lack of success in getting Jerry to do something remarkable, maybe she can get Jerry to start a rock climbing career. Or at least bowling or something.Jerry’s rant: Is the controversy of Judge Kavanaugh's appointment to the Supreme Court over? Hmmm. Kavanaugh Gets Confirmed: EP 183

For starters, Jerry, shoes and airports. He's had a good long run.Gene is still trying to get Jerry to do something 'remarkable', like Bryce Carlson, the guy who rowed (yes, in a rowboat) across the Atlantic Ocean in record time. This one's extra good, and extra easy. All Jerry needs to do is pay some Italians to haul his old ass to the top of El Capitan, the beautiful mountain in Yosemite National Park.Jerry has some thoughts about our newest Supreme Court Justice, and the process by which he was appointed. Somehow Jerry and Jene had a communication failure.Could the Rats be coming to Ludlow? A place in Ludlow called Stand Strong. This one can't miss - according to Jene. But it's too stupid to discuss here.Jerry goes off on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. What about the truth? Supreme Court Nominee Kavanaugh: EP 179

A new take on the blues - Jene tells how a unique song writer sent a cut from his first album to our jerryspringer.com's “Songwriter’s Stump”. The man is Carlton Ramsey III, a Connecticut stock broker who’s songs tell of the struggles and pain of the wealthy. Jene asks David to play a sample of his album, the album’s title song, The Suburban Blues. Who knew the well off had it so rough? And their language!Jene notes that he recently had Jerry over for dinner at his home and yet he has never been, ever, ever, to any of Jerry’s six homes around the world. How could any decent man ever do that?Jerry’s rant: Supreme court nominee Brett Kavanaugh doesn't appear to have specific information on anything he might do as a Supreme Court Justice. The Right's Diminishing Demographics: Ep 178

In Jene's never-ending quest to get Jerry to do something 'remarkable', he enlisted a pilot friend, Pedro, who flies for Jerry's buddy Louis.Jene was encouraged by Pedro last week, who immediately saw the vision in his “help Jerry do something remarkable” project, Unlimited Mileage. He has pledged to join our three member driving team (Jene, Jerry, and Pedro)  to travel America for a week, non stop, to pile more miles on a rental than everyone else has ever done or will do.Jene's pretty convinced that this exercise in futility will get them in the Guiness Book of World Records. Jene laments turning 50 years old as he just celebrated a birthday. Jerry's sorry he's 25 years late in offering Jene a 'Happy Birthday'. Jene asks Jerry about his vacation. They seem to have different ideas about what a good vacation is. Jene has also discovered a new app where you can track your wife’s whereabouts at any time. Good idea? Jene always has good ideas. Then Jerry's Take is whether one should be allowed in certain jobs, like political office, if in fact the person under discussion is clearly a racist. Trump is Putin's Mouthpiece: Ep. 171

Jene again suggests that Jerry, Megan and he should do something “remarkable”  for society together. So he suggests having some guests who can show them the way. The show will soon feature Jerome Pilette, who is riding his bike from Quebec to the tip of Argentina, and Harvey Lewis, who is - as we speak - close to finishing a run of the Appalachian Trail in near-record time. Tonight, via satellite phone from his twenty-foot row boat in the middle of the stormy Atlantic Ocean, we’ll talk for a few minutes with Bryce Carlson, a teacher from Cincinnati’s Seven Hills School. He is their rowing coach and a former crew member at the University of Michigan. And boy, will he need everything he knows -- He’s already lost his sea anchor, flooded his laptop and broke his boat’s dagger board in several gales that caused him to capsize.Carlson is about 700 miles from Newfoundland, rowing alone to Penzance, England, trying to become the first American to make the trip. Should he finish in fewer than 55 days, it'd be a world record. Good thing we're stopping him to talk to us, right? Then, Jerry exposes Trump as a mouthpiece for Russian president Vladmir Putin.  We will know the "why" one day- What Trump has done is against the security and interests in America. Musical guest: Zach Gabbard: https://www.howlerhillsfarm.com/buffalo-killers Hosted on Acast. Why Trump's Foreign Policy is Putin's Dream: Ep. 170

(Note: last week's episode featured Jerry's announcement about his future. Would Jerry join him the next time, riding, talking, telling stories around the campfire?Jene talks with Jerry about the idea of “Concrete Football,” a concept seen in the Netflix documentary of the same name. In the wake of the World Cup, is soccer another economic pathway for urban kids who have relatively fewer opportunities? Then Jerry investigates Trump's foreign policy, specifically his recent meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Coincidentally or not, Trump's foreign policy strategy and practice seems to fall right into the hands of Russian President Vladmir Putin. This week's musical guest is Bennet Waleshttp://www.thereliefmusic.com/ Hosted on Acast. Jerry Announces He's Retiring After 27 Years From The Jerry Springer Show: Ep. 169

The Jerry Springer Show started in 1991, and is the second longest running daytime talk show next to Phil Donahue. Although the show will continue to air, what's in store for what Jerry may do next?Jene talks about how this Jene Genkins guy, testing the senate waters in Kentucky, is copying off a political candidate we've had on the show before, State Senator Tip Kemper for daring political ideas.Jerry’s Take: A compassionate society shouldn't weaponize children by taking them away from their families. How can pro-family groups continue to support Trump when he and Jeff Sessions implemented this policy? Now there will be lawsuits because even though they're allowing the families to stay together, you can't keep a child in jail for more than twenty days. But because the courts are so far backed up, they can't hear the cases before the twenty days are past.Musical guest: Bennet Waleshttps://www.facebook.com/thereliefva/ Hosted on Acast. Is Trump's Constantly Evolving Strategy Smart? Ep. 166

Jene reads a listener email about Unlimited Mileage.  Jene talks about how he wishes this could our summer of adventure for the Jerry Springer Podcast. So he’s scouring the stories of modern adventurers at work this summer, like Jerome, who is riding his bicycle from Montreal, Canada to Tierra del Fuego, in Argentina. We talked to him a few weeks back. Now he’s learned of Harvey Lewis, a high school teacher from urban Cincinnati who is not hiking but *running* the 2,100 miles of the Appalachian Trail in 45 days. in an effort to set the speed record (it normally takes 6 months). Why aren’t we out there making a mark on history? Speaking of jokes, Jene reads the punchlines of several fantastic jokes. The other parts of the jokes are unspeakably inappropriate for our show and won’t be revealed.
