Among the civilian witnesses were Jorge Torres's Bother, Sarah Boone's Ex-Husband and the apartment neighbors. The state was able push in a lot of evidence through witnesses like the 911 operator, the assistant store manger, deputy sheriffs at the scene and the CSI forensic biologist. The defense said that Sarah Boone is expected to testify next week. Diddy’s attorney defended his client stating that they have full confidence in the fact that he didn’t do the things claimed in the lawsuits. The evidence after two trials seems clear that Lyle and Erik Menendez murdered their parents in Beverly Hills in 1989. They were convicted after their second trial in 1996. The brothers filed a Habeas petition asking the court to vacate the conviction based on new evidence. On Thursday, 10-3-24, District Attorney Gascon stated there will be a hearing at the end of November. Tupac’s family hired Alex Spiro, Alec Baldwin’s attorney in the Rust case, to investigate to see if Diddy has any connection with the murder. Now that Diddy is in custody, that investigation may be easier to do. It would be natural to question Keefe D and Suge Knight. Alex Murdaugh was sentenced federally for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, bank fraud, and money laundering. Murdaugh made a plea deal with the feds to plea guilty because he had already admitted to the crimes during the the state's murder trial.The judge sentenced him to 40 years which was more than the prosecution recommended. The judge said they did this to send a message to deter attorneys who may want to steal from their clients.Alex Murdaugh Appealed the sentencing but the government dismissed it because part of the plea was that he would not appeal the decisions that would be made. Murdaugh's murder case is still going through the appeal process for new trial due to Becky Hill's interference and his appeal on the murder conviction is still on hold. Netflix has filed a request for Dismissal and Anti-SLAPP. Netflix provided a Declaration from Richard Gadd including many exhibits proving Fiona Harvey sent Richard Gadd harassing emails, text messages, voice mails, and also accusations of stalking a Member of Parliaments' wife.These exhibits show that Harvey did do the things detailed in the mini series but was not a "beat by beat" recount of what happened. The Judge made a ruling by denying the Anti-SLAPP and dismissed some of the causes of action from Fiona’s case; only leaving the Defamation and Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress. The line in the Netflix show that said, “this is a true story” was false and can imply malice because it can lead the viewer to believe that all of the things that happened in the series were true when that is not the case. It is likely that the case will go to mediation and settle out of court.Netflix is being sued for defamation by John Wilson for the documentary: Operation Varsity Blues - The College Admissions Scandal. John Wilson had almost all of his convictions overturned on appeal and that was not included in the documentary. The defense argues that the jury acquitted Karen of charges one and three even though they didn't mark it on the jury forms. They relitigate that retrying her for counts one and three violates double jeopardy. They are asking for oral arguments.On Thursday, September 12th, 2024, Harvey Weinstein was indicted again in New York. According to Law360 reporting, the indictment will remain sealed until Weinstein is arraigned, which has yet to happen due to his deteriorating health. According to Weinstein’s representative he was rushed to the hospital on Sunday, September 8th, 2024, for emergency open heart surgery.In his status conference in Illinois, Girardi wasn't present and prosecutors asked to continue to the pre-trial conferences until December 18th, 2024. They indicated that they may drop the charges against Girardi after his sentencing on December 6th, 2024 in Los Angeles.The Bryan Kohberger trial moves to Ada County's Fourth District located in Boise and gets appointed a new judge, Judge Steven Hippler. This means that trial dates and other deadlines are now subject to change.In the infamous viral clip, Redden is accused of leaping over the bench and attacking a Las Vegas Judge Holthus. He was charged with Attempted Murder of a victim 60 years of age or older. On the second day, after hearing the testimony of Judge Holthus and her law clerk, Redden pleaded Guilty but Mentally Ill. The judge determined that there is probable cause to move forward with a jury trial. Richins pled not guilty and her trial is scheduled for May of 2025.Bryan Kohberger had a change of venue hearing last week, where the defense brought in their witnesses to explain the results of the surveys. I break down the Kouri Richins infamous “Walk The Dog” letter found in her jail cell. She claims this letter was part of a fictional book she was working on. The prosecution disagreed with that sentiment and requested sanctions be placed on Richins.On Monday, Kouri Richins wrote a statement claiming her eagerness to proceed with the trial and prove her innocence. Eric Richins's estate put out a statement saying that they are confident in the judicial system and there will be enough evidence for a jury to convict her.We still have a long way to go before a trial can be set. The defense argues that the grand jury indictment should be dismissed due to prosecutorial bad faith and that there were structural errors in the grand jury indictment. The judge asked pointed questions to the prosecution about their conduct. The prosecution had leaked the date of the indictment to the New York Times, cut off witnesses during their testimony, and didn't reach out to other possible witnesses' attorneys to let them know they might be needed for that hearing. The judge stated that they would make a written ruling this week and with the amount of questions the judge had, it is possible that the dismissal could get granted. Kouri Richins’ defense attorneys filed a motion to disqualify the prosecution and to designate the "Walk The Dog" letter as attorney-client privilege. Subsequently, the firm withdrew from her case. Ariana Madix has filed an Anti-SLAPP motion requesting the whole claim against her be thrown out and her attorney's fees paid. Ariana states that she never distributed the video to anyone. Ariana also states that she recorded a clip of the video from Tom's phone and sent it to Rachel with a text stating "You are DEAD TO ME".Tom Sandoval filed a Demurrer to Complaint and Motion to Strike. His attorneys claim that the video file he obtained was created by Rachel and sent to Tom by her. Rachel Leviss' attorney has also put out a statement stating that she never created and sent the video to Tom Sandoval and Ariana's account of how she discovered the relationship is false. Hannah Gutierrez's attorney requested the court to do a conditional discharge which places her on probation with certain conditions. Upon the successful completion of that probation, there will be no conviction on her record. The prosecution responded that Hannah is eligible for a conditional discharge, however, it should not be granted because other felonies are pending and cites failure to accept responsibility due to what was said in the recorded jail calls. The state says that after they extended the plea deal to Alec Baldwin, they never responded to the email, told a reporter about the nature of the plea deal, commissioned a documentary about the shooting, and pressured witnesses to be interviewed in the documentary.In a new filing, Diddy and his son, Christian "King" Combs, were sued by a crew member and bartender on a yacht. The attorney representing this case is the same attorney representing Lil' Rod. In an unrelated case, the attorney has been referred to the discipline committee for filing cases in federal court to boost media attention.Bryan Kohberger had a fiery hearing. The TikTok Psychic was mentioned by the survey expert, Bryan Edelman, as part of misinformation that is floating around about the case. A video of the prosecutor, Bill, was used as an example of disseminating information.Bill accused Edelman of tainting the jury pool and Edelman said he was so angry it made him cry. This suit was referenced in Lil Rod’s lawsuit, with a note that a suit would be forthcoming. The suit's allegations stem from incidents on the Holiday Yacht trip that are also detailed in Lil’ Rod’s suit. Unsurprisingly, this plaintiff and Lil’ Rod have the same attorney, currently under fire in New York Federal court. The attorneys for UMG brought to the court's attention a court order in an unrelated case brought by Attorney Blackburn wherein the court ordered him referred to the discipline committee of the federal court. Brendan Paul was arrested during the raid and is suspected of being Diddy's drug mule. There is a high possibility that Diddy could be charged with Federal RICO charges. Prosecutors may go as far back as 1999 and the infamous Club New York shooting when looking at the RICO charges. Diddy was dating Jennifer Lopez at the time and this may have broader implications.There have also been rumors that Keefe D could be cooperating with the authorities in connection to this investigation. Federal Prosecutors had offered Alex Murdaugh a plea deal based on his truthful interviews and disclosures about any criminal activity, where the proceeds of the crimes have gone etc.For that, they would ask that the sentence on the federal crimes run concurrently with the state financial crimes, for which he is already serving 27 years. Since Alex's plea deal will not move forward, the judge will most likely apply an upward variance from the proposed guideline ranger.Alec Baldwin’s attorneys filed over 700 pages in support of their Motion to Dismiss the grand jury indictment, arguing that the prosecution gave inappropriate jury instructions to the grand jury and that the prosecution acted in bad faith when they failed to present exculpatory evidence.The prosecution has extended time to respond and the court hasn’t set a hearing on this yet. However, the trial date in July will be here before you know it. Hannah’s defense made an emergency motion for a new trial and release, in a hearing on March 29, 2024, the court denied both motions and reminded counsel that the sentencing would go forward as scheduled on April 15, 2024.Kouri Richins is now facing 11 charges, including counts of attempted murder, mortgage fraud, insurance fraud, and forgery. Amber Heard appealed the court's dismissal of her claims against her insurer, New York Marine, for not providing her independent counsel to defend against Johnny Depp. New York Marine argued that they were not obligated to provide Heard with independent counsel and, therefore, hadn’t breached their agreement with her.Donna Adelson was back in court for case management. The trial will begin at the end of September 2024 and she will have two court appearances before that for case status.Bryan Kohberger will also be back in court at the end of February for arguments over DNA and to hopefully set a trial date. In the Petito v Laundrie Civil Case, motions for summary argument have been filed by Steven Bertolino and the Laundries. Now that discovery and depositions are completed, the motions for Summary Judgement will allow the judge to determine if a jury trial is needed in May 2024.The fight for whether or not the TikTok Defamation case will settle upon Summary Judgement is ongoing. Heard is arguing that New York Marine breached their agreement with her when they denied her independent counsel to defend her in the Virginia Defamation suit brought by Johnny Depp against her. Amber Heard had two different insurers who had hired attorneys to defend the case. New York Marine’s lawyers ceased representation of Heard before the Virginia trial. New York Marine argued that they were not obligated to provide Heard with independent counsel and, therefore, hadn’t breached their agreement with her. Murdaugh was in court before Justice Toal on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. The status conference set the tone for the upcoming Evidentiary Hearing on Murdaugh’s motion for a new trial.
