Welcome, I am Healthy Emmie! In this video, I'm going to share with you why are you gaining weight on the starch solution. Let's deep dive into the video to know the reasons why you have gained weight on a whole-food, plant-based diet. A WFPB diet emphasizes a large variety of whole foods. The term whole in WFPB describes foods that are minimally processed. This includes whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and legumes. Eating more calories than your body needs will always result in weight gain no matter where that food is coming from. Plant fats like avocados, seeds, hummus, and nut butter are the main reasons for shooting up the daily calorie count. By enjoying a variety of foods including these and by eating enough volume of these foods, it's possible to gain weight over a period of time. There many reasons for gaining weight on a whole-food, plant-based diet but today I'm going to break down the three main reasons to gain food on WFPB so let's start watching the entire video to learn more. Binge eating is consuming large quantities of food very quickly, even when not hungry, and to the point of being uncomfortable. Almost everyone overeats once in a while, but it can also become a problem. Binge eating is a symptom of restriction. Binge eating may be driven by a need to soothe negative emotions, anxiety, stress, or depression. However, the feeling of comfort that eating may bring does not last long and individuals may experience shame, guilt, and distress following bingeing. Restriction leads to physical and psychological depletion, which can ultimately lead to a binge. Thus creating the cycle of bingeing and restricting. An alternative way that people find themselves stuck in this cycle is when binge eating occurs first.

In this video, I talk about why that is absolutely nothing to worry about! It is SO important that we know the difference between weight gain and fat gain. Just because we’ve “gained weight” does not mean that we’ve gained fat! In fact - you can be losing fat while gaining weight at the same time! And in this video I explain exactly how and why that happens!! This is why, with my clients, I don’t encourage they look at the scale at first! It is very likely that someone can be losing fat on this lifestyle and gaining weight! However, if you are overweight and you come to this whole foods, plant-based, vegan lifestyle that is naturally high-carbohydrate and low-fat - it is totally normal to gain WATER! Your cells are becoming hydrated - but this natural water retention is NOT fat gain. Please know that if you are overweight, you WILL lose weight on this lifestyle so long as it is done correctly! #009: Why Exercise is Making You Fat
Hey #HEALTHYHUNNIES! In this video we are talking about the EXERCISE PARADOX! There’s a belief that exercise is one of the leading - if not THE leading determinant of our weight. It’s believed that the more you exercise, the more calories you burn, and viola. The more calories you burn, the more weight you lose! Wanna lose weight? Exercise more! It’s that simple! Start going on runs and the fat will melt off of you! Well, it doesn’t work that way. Enter the exercise paradox. The amount of calories we burn in a day isn’t largely determined by how much exercise we do. It’s determined mainly by our height, weight, age, and diet. And exercise is in there too, and it moderately affects our calorie burn - but not by a lot. In order to lose weight, we want to develop a whole foods, plant-based lifestyle based on starches, vegetables, fruits and legumes! You can lose weight WITHOUT exercise! Relying on exercise can actually HURT out weight loss! Watch this video to find out why!

You retrain your brain and your body to WANT to healthy foods! Who knew you could crave kale? HA! Remember, though, this doesn’t mean that adopting just a vegan diet will make cravings go away. In this episode, I am telling you guys how to get started on your vegan weight loss journey! If you are looking to lose weight, and you want to do it vegan… or you’re already vegan and want to lose weight - this is the podcast for you! Here is what we talk about in this podcast episode…
Forget the word “vegan:” Vegan and healthy are not the same thing! Oreos are vegan! Even “healthy vegan restaurants” are actually sources of fat-bombs!
Commit to oil-free: One tablespoon is 120 calories and 14 grams of fat. Even if you’re in a deficit, you store it as fat.
Stop counting calories: IT DOESN’T WORK. Studies have shown that eating a calorie controlled diet plant-based vs not causes greater weight loss. This diet speeds up our metabolism & turns us into fat burners. It’s not how much you eat, it’s WHAT you eat. Calorie counting leads to binge-eating every single time.
Stop relying on exercise: You end up eating in a caloric surplus as opposed to a caloric deficit. Keep it simple: This diet is starches, vegetables, fruits, and legumes. So often, people go crazy looking for recipes - but you don’t need to do this. If you want a few recipes to have in the rotation, go for it… But you can avoid overwhelm by KISS!

This is EVERYTHING you need to know about my plant-based, vegan lifestyle. I do not count calories, track macros, or portion control. Everything else you need to know is summed up in the following sentence: I eat a diet of starches, vegetables, fruits, and legumes free from animal products, oil, and processed foods. This is a vegan diet. In this video, I also talk about where I get my protein, where I get my healthy fats if I supplement, what my blood tests show, and more! I've been eating this way for years and years and LOVE IT! I'm sure people are wondering how often I'll eat something that's not fully unprocessed and SOS (sugar, oil, and salt) free. So here's the answer! Animal products: Never consume. Oil: Never consume… only if it’s a super special food or occasion! Sugar: On holidays. Salt: consume at restaurants & if someone is making the food for me Processed food: On holidays & special occasions I'll bake some treats, have processed foods, and have some vegan treats! NO OIL THOUGH! :)
