Born in Louisiana and raised in South Florida this soul-stirring songstress has alwayshad the gift of music in her bones and a desire to change lives. At the age of three it wasthen that her parents had taken notice of a significant and delightful ability that theirsecond daughter embodied innately. “I can remember watching the Grammy’s with myfamily one night and Janet Jackson was performing Control, then I can remember sayingto my dad, ‘I want to do that”, Says Jita. As time went on they could truly see that notonly desire was there but the ability and potential was as well. From the tender age ofseven this young siren has been performing all over South Florida in venues thatincluded local parades, international conventions, churches, local talent shows, Heatgames and a long list of others. Her desire to be on stage and to sing was unshakable.During the early years of stage performances she was regarded as a young WhitneyHouston. Raised in the church and brought up in the knowledge of who God is, Jita wassensitive to the gentile pull of the Holy Spirit. In 1994 at the age of twelve, during asermon in North Miami, she was compelled to accept the Lord as her personal Savior.By the time she was seventeen, she decided to be obedient to the call and offer hervoice back to the Lord in song. “Ever since I can remember I have always had thefeeling that I was supposed to be singing for God.”The exposure to gospel greats like Shirley Caesar, The Clark Sisters and others likeAretha Franklin , Patti Labelle, Whitney Houston and a host of others was very influentialto her. Jita grew up with the sounds of Motown flowing through the house and at thesame time “The Sound of Music’ would be on the television. The city of Miami, being asculturally eclectic as it is, also offered its rich soulful assortment of flavor that intriguedher as well. With such an intense appreciation for all types and styles of music fromMotown to classical to alternative to jazz, it is evident that elements from these stylesplay an integral part in the uniquely smooth sound that is Jita.With a heart and passion for God, this singer/song writer has counted it a privilege tospread the good news of Jesus Christ in such a way that is refreshing to the listenerwhile being centered in truth. “ Its so important to me that young people today have areal, and positive role model that lives what they believe and isn’t afraid to stand up forwhat they believe. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find artists that embrace theirresponsibility as role models, take into consideration where they lead young minds, andalso consider how it will affect our world tomorrow.” When asked about where her ideascome from Jita replies, “My music is from God and it’s only Him who truly inspires me todo what I do. I’m honored to know Him, and I want others to truly know Him as well.’ Jitacurrently resides in South Florida with her husband and two children.
