#92 - The Dance Of Partnership - Relationship Wisdom with Alison Armstrong

Alison Armstrong has been teaching and speaking publicly about men and relationships for 3 decades. She is a thoughtful and inquisitive individual whose curiosity led her to a profound revelation about human behavior and relationships. Through her deep contemplation and examination of male development, she realized that men often react independently of women's influences, shaped instead by their developmental stages.  Her insights shed light on the misconceptions women might have, believing that a man's dedication to his career or personal goals could signify a lack of love. Alison's keen realization emphasizes that men and women's actions and priorities are influenced by different developmental needs, rather than personal affection or commitment. Her work aims to foster better understanding and communication between genders. In this episode, Alison and I explore the complexities of conflict resolution, emphasizing the importance of curiosity over false conclusions. We discuss the evolution of the men's movement, strategies for handling relationships, and the power dynamics between genders. Alison shares her own transformative experience of challenging negative perceptions of men and highlights the critical role of empathy and understanding in nurturing strong, healthy relationships. On this episode, we discuss: How men and women deal differently with emotions.- How women can get what they need while empowering men. How she became a champion for men, and a helper in relationships between men and women. Frog farming vs. discovering princes. Helping women understand stages of men’s development. How she learned to stop diminishing men, and how that changed her relationships. Ways that women justify disempowering men. Moving ‘from furious to curious’. Learning to improve communication. Dropping over-fixation on boundaries and leaning in with curiosity. Avoiding labelling each other. Being ‘pro-choice orgasm’ Tips on really listening to each other, and common traps of not listening. The importance of making friends outside your relationship. How her work has changed over the years. Her thoughts on different waves of feminism. #87 - Pandemic Hysteria And Mass Psychosis (Part 2) - with Mark Groves

Mark Groves, founder of Create The Love is a relationship expert, but he also believes in freedom of speech and thought, and is an advocate of personal sovereignty. During the recent pandemic, he began sharing what he was seeing in the people and institutions around him. His sharing on @itsmarkgroves and The Mark Groves Podcast was controversial, because any dissenting opinion at that time was censored and considered to be “unsafe”.I personally appreciated the discourse that Mark was bringing, as I lacked the courage to be as bold as he was, despite agreeing with many of his questions. On this episode of the podcast, I discuss the pandemic, the lockdowns, and the hysteria that took over our society at that time. In this episode, we dive into: The dangers of framing everything as a safety issue. Dehumanizing people during the pandemic. Data-based arguments about COVID-19 vaccines. Mass formation psychosis. Why PCR tests shouldn’t be used for diagnostic purposes. Unconsciously believing that healthy people are biological threats.  The wide scope of misinformation spread throughout the pandemic.  The anxiety, fear, and hysteria spearheading pandemic behavior. Family conflicts and getting “canceled” over COVID-19 dissent. COVID-19 and masks as an ideology vs evidence-based. Natural immunity is at least equal to vaccinated immunity. The exploitation of psychology and weaponization of belonging. Normalizing controlling people’s bodily autonomy. Censoring people, governments spreading misinformation, and the lack of critical thinking during the pandemic. Language is the first step to dehumanizing people in an out-group. Violating informed consent when getting vaccinated. How do we prevent divisiveness in the future? Healing begins with the acceptance of reality (that the unvaccinated were marginalized and demonized while being left out of society and losing their jobs, while the vaccine that was promised to end the pandemic didn’t, and Omicron did) Accountability without annihilation. Learning to speak your truth despite the inconvenience. Fighting for the freedom to disagree.   Links from this Episode Part 1 of This Episode Mark’s Website Mark’s Instagram  Masks Immunity Mass Formation Psychosis See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We each must find our own true self beneath the markings of trauma and conditioning that we carry and discover and integrate the ‘medicine’ within those challenges. The Shipibo medicine tradition and the master healing plants are living wonders from an ancient world. My own search for healing and greater meaning in life has brought me to this sacred path. And through supporting many others on a similar journey, I have seen that it is possible to slowly but surely nurture a deep connection with the master teacher plants and their songs, and thereby foster a greater harmony and understanding within, while restoring our rightful relationships with all of life. It is my honour to assist and support others on this blessed journey of discovery.” ~ Becky  See omny.fm/listener for privacy information.

She also runs a program for successful single women who are looking to attract their ideal "masculine man". She joins me to answer questions about embracing femininity and how to create sexual polarity. In this episode we discuss:  How women can connect to their wild feminine nature. The movement of polarity: understanding aspects of our masculine and feminine nature.  The opposition of the feminine and masculine being anything but a social construct.  How pregnancy can change your point of view about your feminine nature and allow for a shift of the femininity inside yourself. Why being independent doesn’t mean a woman can’t be interdependent or shouldn’t trust a man. The twisted idea of womanhood: femininity equals weakness. Medicalizing birth: the disconnection we have from birth and the reverence of femininity. How the feminist movement plays a role in why we don’t give femininity the power it deserves. #44 - Dosed - From Addiction To Freedom

Tyler Chandler and Nicholas Meyers had a friend who was deep in the throws of opioid addiction. They wanted to help, so they went looking for solutions and grabbed their camera. Research led them to psilocybin mushrooms, and the result was a documentary film called “Dosed”. Dosed follows the journey of Adrianne as she uses psychedelics to heal her Opioid addiction. After touring the world and receiving immensely positive feedback and film nominations, Tyler, Nick and Adrianne joined me to discuss the significance of using psychedelics as medicine for the future of addiction recovery. In this episode we discuss: The use of psychedelics for treating depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Finding a profound shift in consciousness after using psychedelics. Uncovering that assumptions about psychedelics are not all based in truth – there are many misunderstandings. Adrianne’s internal struggles with opioid addiction and trying to introduce other drugs as a healing method. How different treatments may work for people attempting to overcome various struggles including Iboga, Ayahuasca, and “magic mushrooms”. Adrianne’s challenging yet rewarding experience of cutting her physical cravings of opioid addiction through Iboga ceremonies. Non-traditional entryways to recovery from addiction. The importance of having a support system and community to rely on while recovering from addiction. The need to release oneself from strict expectations from oneself, family members, and support groups. The importance of spiritual connection while healing. Facing challenges reconciling multiple world views and accepting there is not one specific path to recovery – choosing your own path is the most important. The process of legalizing psychedelics for therapy use and the importance of decriminalizing drug use for the success of society. How to get connected to and find access to people who are passionate about the medical use of psychedelics. The future of treatment centers: what services they will provide and how they will function. Psychedelics aren’t just for people who are addictive or mentally ill – there’s benefits for everyone. How psychedelics can connect you to your deepest self and help you become the best version of yourself. The difference between psychedelics and other drugs – their anti-addictive properties and using them recreationally versus medicinally. Where the root of addiction lives - intention or lack thereof. #38 Birth Takes A Village - with Jessica Austin

Jessica Austin is a birth professional on a mission to educate the world on the truth about birth. The information she carries is not just something that some people need to know; it’s information that everyone needs to know. I particularly want men to listen to this episode, because many men don’t know how crucial of a moment-of-truth it will be when they are facing proposed 'interventions' on their partner during a birth process. This is an important moment to have your woman's back in the most vulnerable moment of her life. What most people think the science says about birth, is not what the science about birth says. Most people think that hospital birth is the safest and most prudent way to give birth. What I learned on this episode - amongst many other realities - is that it’s not that simple. Tune in to this episode for a very educational discussion on the topic of the most sacred human process. On this episode we discuss: What is a doula? Why someone would need or want a doula for birth. Birth is not what you see in the movies Why the statistics for PTSD are virtually the same for birth as they are for war Hospital birth VS home birth: Which is safer?  Why morbidity statistics are higher in hospitals The problem with inducing birth with medication versus letting it happen on nature’s time Why everyone who has had a caesarean section thinks they HAD to have it done. Fear, and how it controls us in our decision making process with birth. The actual statistics for children dying in birth. Emergency caesarean section are not always emergencies Breach birth - does it need to be done via caesarean? Haemorrhage - one of the main causes. Why birth progress stalls when women arrive at the hospital. Why your comfort and intimate space helps your birth process progress naturally. How men can support women in the hospital.Myth busting - these myths are discussed at the end of the episode: My baby is too big, so I need a caesarean section. Dilation speed - Friedman’s Curve. We are lucky to have the medical system, because everyone was dying before hospital births came in to play. The hospital has more tools for birth than midwives (who do home births). Home birth isn’t safe. The umbilical chord can get wrapped around the neck - this is an emergency. The stakes are too high. We need to do a hospital birth. Jessica Austin has been supporting women in giving birth for over 10 years. She is a doula, a trainer of doulas, and a pre-natal instructor. Her website: BirthTakesaVillage.com Instagram @jessicaaustinchildbirth Facebook: facebook.com/austinjessicaSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

He joins me on the show to discuss the issues men face today and the solutions he has proposed in his book.Phil teaches that in this time of rapid change, there has been a loss of the warrior ethos. How men struggle in their lives as an unconscious attempt to punish their father or mother. The best way to change the world: do you own inner work, and be present and involved with the outside world. Live an impeccable life. What is happening with the growth of The Samurai Brotherhood - Phil’s men’s work community that he founded. #31 - The Initiation Of Young Men in Modern Times - with Brad Leslie

Brad Leslie was one of the founders of The Young Men's Adventure Weekend, an event that takes teens through a series of challenging adventures designed to draw out the qualities he will need as a man. The creation of the YMAW program was informed by numerous rites of passage from around the world, incorporating long-standing traditions in to a palatable journey for the young men of this era and culture. Brad breaks down a number of definitions and key points in the work of initiating young men: Initiation as a starting point. A lift-off point from which you cannot go back. A boy's journey from "Mom's world" to "man's world" and the journey in between. What initiation looks like in some indigenous cultures. Initiation - The transformation from needy & dependent to accountable & useful. What uninitiated men look like. What the initiated man looks like. A young man looking for camaraderie will join a team, a gang, or the military to initiate himself. The Boy Crisis - by Warren Farrell and John Gray The value of sports teams in building the character of young men. 3 steps in an initiation: Separation from community, Ordeal/Challenge, Return to community. The value of separating boys and girls to teach them about manhood and womanhood as they age. Michael Gurian's book - The Purpose of Boys. Why sex does not pass as an initiation in to manhood. How men drain their vital energy by getting in to co-dependent relationships. The simple way that men can connect with young men just by hanging out. The result of a culture that doesn't have elders. The odd story of how we lost our elders in the US and Canada. Elephants have elders too. Initiation for men who were never initiated - get in to self-development work and find a men's group. #30 - The Transformational Power of the Breath Wave - with Robin Clements

Robin Clements is a facilitator of an advanced transformational breath technique he calls The Breath Wave. This technique creates altered states of consciousness that can be as powerful and impactful as psychedelics like Ayahuasca and Psilocybin without many of the side effects.Robin has been studying and practicing with the human body for over two decades, and after receiving certifications in massage, energy work, and breath work, he developed a unified breath experience - one that has produced experiences for me that feel like a total re-birth.This isn't something you need to fly across the world and devote thousands of dollars to learn or experience. It is available in bite sized chunks, in the comfort of your home, if you learn to do it well. In this episode, we discuss how people can develop a daily transformational breath practice that can be done in as little as 10-20 minutes. Note for Wim-Hof Method practitioners: This is a different technique and requires different methods, for your safety. Do not do an 'out hold' after doing this method. Instead, stay with your breath but keep it slow, without holding. On this episode, Robin discusses: Our modern nervous systems in the generalized anxious and disconnected state. The wave of interest in relaxation techniques that help people balance the nervous system. The loop between your nervous system and your breath. The basic method of Conscious Connected Breathing. The physical healing, cleansing, and detoxification that breath work can provide. Altered states of consciousness stimulated by breath work. Working with our unconscious (and with trauma) while doing breath work. The key to letting go and surrendering during the breathwave method. How control patterns show up in the breath. If you have issues with CONTROL, breath work can change your life. How the altered state can change your genes by bringing your body in to homeostasis. The benefits of lowering stress in your life (this cannot be overstated) How to do this practice in 5-10 minutes. Why you need to learn to listen to your body more as you get older. Why you'll want to find a trained teacher before doing a "full session" at 45-60 minutes. The tools you can use in a breath session to liberate stuck energy. How music is used as a powerful tool in a breath session. Boosting your daily energy with the use of a daily breath practice. How this work can prepare us for what is to come. Robin's website - Breathwave.net Robin's pre-recorded Soundcloud breath journeys - Soundcloud/robin-clementsDeep Tissue organ massage, as mentioned on the show - James Bell at Our Healing Room. Still don't know what the breath wave is? Listen to the episode, and see Robin's words below:‘The Breath Wave’ is an open and balanced self-practice of your own breath, flowing as a relaxed and continuous wave. This full respiratory breathing technique enhances the flow of oxygen and life force (prana) throughout the body and mind, slows down the patterns of the brain and the nervous system and cultivates a high vibrational frequency; facilitating vibrant health, mental and emotional clarity and a liberating connection with our higher self.“You are your own greatest healer and teacher” - Robin ClementsSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#28 Codependency and Relationship Q & A - with Sheleana Aiyana

Sheleana Aiyana, founder of RisingWoman.com joins me for a conversation about codependency in relationships, as well as a Q & A about relationships where we answer questions from fans about our own realtionship.Codependency is a word that comes up in conversations about healthy/unhealthy relationships. It is a pattern that is prevalent in the relationships all around you, and perhaps in your own relationship. We explore this subject in detail, defining what codependency is and what it looks like in romantic relationships. Some of the things we discuss in this episode: What codependency can look like in relationship.  How quiet resentment builds when you give the wrong things Covert agreements (6:00) Coming in to relationship not needing to perform in order to earn love Type 1 codependency - Codependency associated with addiction (10:50) The key to recovering from Type 1 codependency Type 2 codependency - The "special" relationship (16:00) When 2 people are codependent Codependency as an isolation mechanism of the ego (20:00) The "Nice Guy" and "Nice Gal" phenomenon (26:00) How fear or rejection prevents us from asking for what we want (30:00) Learning to accept your partner's "No" Developing a strong sense of self-love, so you can say no to partners who don't fit what you want (39:00) The moment when we broke up early in the relationship and how we dealt with it. (43:00) How to bring consciousness in to a hot discussion or a fight (47:30) Using relationship as a tool for your own self-discovery (49:00) Q & A about relationships. See below (56:00) Healthy relationship tips from this episode: Come in to relationship already deserving of love. This is a mindset. Ask for what you want - communicate your needs Set agreements consciously and verbally Allow emotions to flow in your relationship. Let it be messy. Learn to feel your own feelings, so you can hold space for your partner Use what happens in your relationship as an opportunity to learn about yourself and how your own mind works Disagreement does not equal rejection. Rejection doesn't have to crush you. Be willing to have your partner say "No" Learn to say No and then allow your partner to feel their feelings Develop self-love so you can turn down relationships that aren't a good fit for you. In hot discussions and fights - put 80% inward curiosity and 20% outward curiosity in the other person Remember that even in the most conscious relationships, there will be conflict. Your responsibility is to keep doing the work. If you want something in your relationship, bring the energy of that thing Take healthy space from each other, and use your community to give you energy instead of relying on each other for everything Women, nurture strong relationships with other women Men, build strong bonds with other men. Know what you want in relationships, and don't sell yourself out when choosing to move forward in a relationship. Boundaries are sexy Remember that you don't have to work out your relationship issues immediately. You can take space, and then come together and hold some space. Know when you can and can't hold space Sheleana runs a program with Heather Pennell on Rising Woman called Heal Your Relationships. This is a program for women looking to do their inner work so they can attract the relationships they want.Q & A Time - We answer the following: Should I wait for “the one” or spend time dating and trying out romantic relationships? Where are all the “good ones”? Why do I only attract people who only want sex? Personal Question: Were we both interested in relationship work and personal growth before we met? Can space between partners be healthy? How can time apart be good for relationships? What are the benefits of polyamory or non-manogamy versus monogamy? How do I bring myself to my partner when things aren’t going well? How do I hold space? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On his journey, he ended up in some very scary places. Sam has emerged on the other side of his struggles and is now giving back to people in need. He has a deep knowledge of sex addiction and the therapeutic techniques for recovery. He shared with me some of the keys to recovery from sex addiction and other addictions. Keys to recovery: 1. COME CLEAN - You have to bust yourself. Come out of the shadows, and in to the light. This is a necessary part of the process. You cannot recover in a vacuum.  2. ABSTINENCE - Learn what abstinence means for you and define it clearly.  3. COMMUNITY - Find one. Sharing in the story reduces the shame. When you connect with others, you gain the power to overcome your blocks. 12 step support groups are great for this.Get a counsellor, mentor, or sponsor.  4. MENTORSHIP Get a counsellor, mentor, or sponsor.  5. INTIMACY - Allow the above to change you as you regain the ability to be intimate in your life.  You can reach Sam at [email protected] Resources for sex addicts: www.sexhelp.comPatrick Carnes' book:  Facing The ShadowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
