Breaking Free: How to Truly Stick to No Contact

Send us a textIn the realm of toxic relationships, the decision to go 'no contact' is often misunderstood, plagued by misconceptions that fail to capture its emotional complexity. When dealing with individuals entrenched in narcissism and emotional abuse, severing ties is far from a simple task. Contrary to popular belief, it's not merely about physical distance; it entails a multifaceted process of disentangling oneself emotionally and mentally. The idea that going no contact erases all feelings towards the abuser oversimplifies the depth of emotional attachment that often exists, making it a challenging journey marked by conflicting emotions. Moreover, the misconception that it signifies weakness couldn't be further from the truth; it requires immense strength and self-awareness to recognize the need for such boundaries. Going no contact is not an act of revenge but a vital step towards self-preservation and healing. It's a courageous choice, acknowledging the inherent complexities of narcissistic relationships and emotional abuse, and prioritizing one's own well-being above all else.Support the showEmail: [email protected] Radiate and Rise Together - Survivor Healing CommunityFREE 20 Minute Chat FREE Consultation to see if my coaching programs are a fit for youTo send a DM, visit Allison's profiles on Instagram and Facebookhttps://www.instagram.com/allisonkdagney/https://www.facebook.com/allisonkdagney/To learn more about my Programs visit the websitewww.radiatenrise.com*Formerly (The Emotional Abuse Recovery Podcast)

Rewiring Your Brain Isn’t as Hard as You Think

Send us a Text Message. In this episode, we're tackling a common misconception: that rewiring your brain after emotional and narcissistic abuse is difficult, if not impossible. Many people believe that changing their thoughts, behaviors, and emotional patterns requires endless struggle and years of hard work. But what if I told you that it doesn’t have to be that way? In today’s episode, we’re diving deep into the power of language and beliefs—how what we say to ourselves shapes our reality, and how shifting those words can make the seemingly impossible, possible. We'll explore the difference between a "realistic" and "unrealistic" mindset, challenging the idea that being realistic means focusing on what you can’t do. Instead, we'll discuss how so-called realism often disguises itself as a fear of failure and a reluctance to step out of our comfort zones. You’ll learn how to reframe those limiting beliefs into empowering ones, opening up new possibilities for growth and success.Throughout the episode, I’ll share powerful examples from history and popular culture, like the story of Grandma Moses, who began her painting career in her late 70s, and the breaking of the 4-minute mile by Roger Bannister, which was once deemed impossible until it wasn’t. These stories serve as evidence that the limitations we place on ourselves are often just that—self-imposed and entirely breakable.I’ll also introduce you to the concept of Rapid Reprogramming™, a method that makes brain rewiring fast, accessible and effective. Unlike the long, drawn-out processes many believe are necessary for change, Rapid Reprogramming™ offers a simpler, faster way to shift your mindset and create lasting transformation. By the end of this episode, you’ll have tips and insights needed to start rewiring your brain, not just for short-term change, but for a lifetime of growth and empowerment.Plus, don’t miss the special opportunities I’m offering in this episode: a chance to join my Radiate and Rise community, where you can connect with others on the same journey, and a free 20-minute chat with me to discuss anything that’s on your mind. Breaking the Cycle of Trauma Bonds

Send us a Text Message. In this episode of the "Be A Better You Podcast," we get into the intricate topic of breaking the cycle of trauma bonds. Many survivors of abusive or narcissistic relationships struggle to let go of their abusers, often believing they are tied to them on a soul level. These deeply ingrained beliefs create a false sense of connection, making it incredibly challenging to move forward. We explore how these beliefs manifest in behaviors such as rumination, social media stalking, and seeking validation from mutual acquaintances. Understanding that these behaviors stem from our brain's attempt to keep us feeling safe is crucial in beginning the healing process.Through a compelling case study, we illustrate the transformative power of challenging and reprogramming these harmful beliefs. One of my clients, who was entangled in a series of abusive relationships, found herself constantly checking her ex's new girlfriend's social media for signs of unhappiness. This behavior was driven by a need to validate her own experience and prove that she was not the problem. By unpacking and reprogramming her limiting beliefs, she was able to break free from this destructive pattern and reclaim her sense of self-worth.We also discuss practical strategies for discrediting painful beliefs and addressing the resistance that often accompanies change. Many survivors hold onto the notion that they could have done something differently to prevent the abuse, which creates a false sense of control. By shifting perspectives and recognizing that the past cannot be changed, we can begin to focus on learning and growing from these experiences. This episode provides valuable insights and actionable steps for anyone struggling to break free from trauma bonds and move towards a healthier, more empowered future.Support the Show.Email: [email protected] Radiate and Rise Together - Survivor Healing CommunityFREE 20 Minute Chat FREE Consultation to see if my coaching programs are a fit for youTo send a DM, visit Allison's profiles on Instagram and Facebookhttps://www.instagram.com/allisonkdagney/https://www.facebook.com/allisonkdagney/To learn more about my Programs visit the websitewww.radiatenrise.com*Formerly (The Emotional Abuse Recovery Podcast)

The Healing Power of Community: Why You Don’t Have to Do It Alone

Send us a Text Message. In this special episode of the Be A Better You Podcast, we explore the transformative power of community in the healing journey, especially for those recovering from emotional abuse. Inspired by the recent episode with Sheryn Senn, we delve into how being part of a supportive community can accelerate your healing and provide a sense of belonging and understanding. Many people believe that healing from emotional abuse requires years of therapy, but this belief can often keep them stuck and unable to find true peace. Common thoughts like, "This is going to take me years to overcome," "No one understands how hard this is," and "I'll be in therapy for the rest of my life," can create a self-fulfilling prophecy, making it difficult to move forward. In this episode, we challenge these limiting beliefs and demonstrate how shifting your mindset and releasing negative emotions can lead to profound transformation.I'm sharing the story of "Sarah", a former client who initially believed that her healing journey would be long and arduous. Through our work together, she learned to reframe her beliefs and release the emotions tied to her past. As Sarah began to see that healing could happen faster than she imagined, her life transformed. She found peace, joy, and a sense of purpose she never thought possible. In this episode I help you start to discredit limiting beliefs and address common resistance to change. I also discuss how letting go of anger or pain doesn't mean betraying your past but rather allows you to move forward lighter and stronger. Finally, I emphasize the importance of community in healing. The Radiate and Rise community offers support systems, resources, and shared experiences that can help you shift your beliefs and find the support you need. 🔒 The Power of Perspectives: External Blame to Internal Empowerment

Subscriber-only episodeIn this thought-provoking episode, I am sharing the transformative power of perspective and how it shapes our experiences and reality. While it's natural to blame external circumstances for our challenges, we explore the concept that it's not what happens to us but how we perceive and respond to it that truly matters. Drawing from neuroscience insights & relatable examples I uncover the distinction between an external locus of control and an internal locus of control. Through an analogy of the window and the landscape, I illustrate how our minds act as windows through which we view the world, and how clearing away the distortion can lead to greater clarity and empowerment. The True Source of Loneliness

As I journeyed through my own struggles with loneliness, I came to a profound realization: it wasn't the external world that made me feel isolated, but the beliefs I held deep within my mind. Picture it like tending to a garden; my subconscious was filled with weeds of self-doubt and unworthiness, overshadowing the vibrant flowers of self-love and connection. Exploring my past, I unearthed the origins of these beliefs, understanding how they took root in early experiences and relationships. But just as a gardener doesn't despair at the sight of weeds, I embraced the opportunity to plant new seeds of positivity and self-compassion. It wasn't an instant transformation; it required patience and consistent care. I visualized these new beliefs as seeds taking root, each affirmation and act of self-love nurturing their growth. Gradually, the landscape of my mind changed. Loneliness wasn't about being alone; it was about the stories I told myself. As I nurtured my self-belief, I found that genuine connections blossomed naturally, not because my circumstances changed, but because I had transformed from within. And so can you! Listen in for the True Source of Loneliness and how you can overcome it!Support the showTo work with Allison in her 1:1 Coaching Program, schedule a FREE Consultationhttps://app.squarespacescheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=25254715To send a DM, visit Allison's profiles on Instagram and Facebookhttps://www.instagram.com/allisonkdagney/https://www.facebook.com/allisonkdagney/To learn more about Rapid Reprogramming for Subconscious Healing visit the websitewww.whentearsleavescars.com

🔒 Breaking Free: How to Truly Stick to "No Contact"

Subscriber-only episodeIn the realm of toxic relationships, the decision to go 'no contact' is often misunderstood, plagued by misconceptions that fail to capture its emotional complexity. It's a courageous choice, acknowledging the inherent complexities of narcissistic relationships and emotional abuse, and prioritizing one's own well-being above all else.To work with Allison in her 1:1 Coaching Program, schedule a FREE Consultationhttps://app.squarespacescheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=25254715To send a DM, visit Allison's profiles on Instagram and Facebookhttps://www.instagram.com/allisonkdagney/https://www.facebook.com/allisonkdagney/To learn more about Rapid Reprogramming for Subconscious Healing visit the websitewww.whentearsleavescars.com

Simple Steps to Uncovering the Real You After Emotional Abuse

In this episode, I'm going into what happens to our sense of self after divorce, breakup, or emotional  and narcissistic abuse. These things can really affect how you feel about yourself. They can make you feel confused and unsure of who you really are.People around you can also change the way you think about yourself. They might want you to be a certain way, and that can make you act like someone you're not. This makes it hard to know who you truly are. It's like putting on layers of different ideas that cover up your true self!Peeling away these layers is important because some of the things we do are because of what others expect, not because they're really who we are. You can find your real self by asking questions and thinking about where those beliefs come from. This helps you see the difference between doing things for YOU and doing things for others.Trying new things and expressing yourself is key to finding your true self again. It helps you uncover parts of you that got hidden because of what others wantedGetting back to who you truly are means being kind to yourself and knowing it takes practice. You can begin this practice with the De-Conditioning workbook that is totally FREE to you! Get it from the link below!https://allison-dagney-bcbf.mykajabi.com/links?preview_theme_id=2154569741To work with Allison in her 1:1 Coaching Program, schedule a FREE Consultationhttps://app.squarespacescheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=25254715To send a DM, visit Allison's profiles on Instagram and Facebookhttps://www.instagram.com/allisonkdagney/https://www.facebook.com/allisonkdagney/To learn more about Rapid Reprogramming for Subconscious Healing visit the websitewww.whentearsleavescars.com

Why You Feel So Confused When the Abuser Starts Being Nice!

To work with Allison in her 1:1 Coaching Program, schedule a FREE Callhttps://app.squarespacescheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=25254715In this episode, we tackle the topic of dealing with confusion and complex emotions when an abuser suddenly does a complete 180 in behavior.  The goal is to shed light on how to process these emotions, find clarity, and regain control over your feelings.I discuss how survivors of abuse often find themselves in a state of confusion, questioning their own perceptions and emotions. The circular conversations, gaslighting, and manipulation during the relationship create even more confusion when the abuser's behavior shifts dramatically after a breakup or separation.Subconscious Beliefs: I emphasize the importance of examining subconscious beliefs that contribute to confusion. Phrases like "maybe it's me" or "maybe it wasn't that bad" are subconscious beliefs disguised as questions. Reframing these beliefs and replacing the "maybe" with confident statements helps regain control over one's thoughts and emotions. To counter confusion, survivors should remind themselves of the evidence and proof of the abuser's true nature.I address the common belief in hope for change and the dangers it poses. Clinging to hope can lead to further confusion and disappointment. Recognizing that "I hope" statements are often indicators of subconscious beliefs allows survivors to challenge and change those beliefs, paving the way for clarity. To overcome confusion when an abuser changes behavior, survivors must examine and challenge their subconscious beliefs. By reframing thoughts, recalling evidence, and letting go of false hope, survivors can regain clarity and control over their emotions. I encourage listeners to focus on their own emotional well-being and provide resources for further support. To work with Allison in her 1:1 Coaching Program, schedule a FREE Clarity Callhttps://app.squarespacescheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=25254715To send a DM, visit Allison's profiles on Instagram and Facebookhttps://www.instagram.com/allisonkdagney/https://www.facebook.com/allisonkdagney/To learn more about Rapid Reprogramming for Subconscious Healing visit the websitewww.whentearsleavescars.com

Surviving and Thriving: A Mother and Daughter's Story of Overcoming Emotional Abuse

3 Easy Steps to Stop Taking Things Personally

We've all done this...but when we take things personally, we feel bad inside. And you know the goal here is to feel good! So today, I am giving you 3 Easy Steps to Stop Taking Things Personally with lots of other information to help move you from feeling stuck to set free.Whether you've experienced this in the past from a narcissistic relationship or are currently struggling with your emotions related to taking things personally, I want you to know...it is possible to stop. A lot of times we do this because of our programming from childhood and even throughout adulthood. For most people it stems from insecurities and feelings of low self worth. What happens is, we create a pattern in our brain that points the finger back to us, even when it isn't our fault or has nothing to do with us at all!So, listen in today for your 3 Easy Steps to Stop Taking Things Personally so you can show up with confidence and inner peace...and not be negatively affected by what goes on around you.To work with Allison in her 1:1 Coaching Program, schedule a FREE Clarity Callhttps://app.squarespacescheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=25254715To send a DM, visit Allison's profiles on Instagram and Facebookhttps://www.instagram.com/allisonkdagney/https://www.facebook.com/allisonkdagney/To learn more about Rapid Reprogramming for Subconscious Healing visit the websitewww.whentearsleavescars.com

In this episode we are discussing something unique for healing that you might just want to learn about! Dr. Louse is the survivor of two toxic parents, a toxic ex, and a toxic mother-in-law. She has a doctorate in philosophy and serves the survivors of narcissistic abuse as a philosophical counselor and coach. "I specialize in helping survivors become more confident, reclaim their identities, and move forward from the chaos of the past. At this point she has been no-contact with her toxic mother for over 13 years and up until my father's recent passing had been no-contact with him for about 3 years." She says, "I work hard to help survivors diversify the tools they use on their healing journey. I am the only professional philosopher in the world helping survivors leverage the tools of philosophy to heal. Philosophy is particularly useful for learning how to work with both your emotional self and your rational self. Learning to work in harmony with these different aspects of ourselves helps us become more confident and really reclaim our identities from toxic people and our challenging pasts. Currently, I am focused on bringing insights from Stoic Philosophy, the main inspiration for the Grey Rock Method, to the survivor journey."So, as always, you know that on this podcast, I always want to give you as much as I can for your own personal growth and you get to pick and choose what works for you. This one is about PHILOSOPHY which translates to The Love of Wisdom! So Your Ex is a Narcissist. Now What?

So you’ve discovered your ex is narcissists or you’re highly suspicious they might be. They check all or most of the boxes and now you are left to piece the puzzle together. If you’re like most people who come to this sickening realization, you’ve likely had the following thoughts run through your mind:What is happening?Who is this person? Why did they do this to me on purpose? How did I not see this sooner?I’m so stupid. Please know, this utter confusion, anger and shock has been experienced by us all. But when we figure it out, we often wonder, “What do I do now to heal?” and “How do I navigate this?” In this episode I will discuss how narcissists use conditioning to maintain control over their victims. I will be talking about the negative thought habits we were programmed with and how to change them. Most of the behaviors we adopted while dealing with a narcissist were survival based, even if we didn’t know it at the time. If you’re out of the relationship, you don’t need those survival behaviors anymore and you know that these habits can be hard to break. The one thing we know for sure is, we have to work to break them if we are determined to heal!Allison K. Dagney is a survivor of 20 years of narcissistic abuse.
