The Drop Outs

English, Sports, 1 season, 24 episodes, 1 day, 5 hours, 19 minutes
About
A med school drop-out and a nurse practitioner drop-out walk into a bar... and a podcast is born. Jess and Morgan have joined forces to talk about their lived experience with self-discovery, self-actualization, and what it means to live authentically. Two graduate school drop-outs who did a 180 in their career paths because they knew it wasn't meant for them. Healthcare workers turned serial entrepreneurs, they are hoping to rewrite the narrative of what it means to change paths and lead by example (along with many laughs along the way).

16. Burnout - Let's Prevent It

The drama of burnout and overwhelm is exhausting. It seems for so many of us, there is a vicious cycle of doing way too much followed by a period where we can hardly find the motivation to do the basics. In this episode, Morgan and Jess talk about their own experience with burnout, what they have learned and how they are changing the narrative around work, what it "should" look like and how to find more joy in your life. Milestones are great, but if you aren't taking time to enjoy the journey - the milestone itself with be a disappointment. In the first half of the content, Morgan talks about the societal concept of what work is and how much of it is expected from us. At minute 38, Jess talks about her mentorship and what she has learned not only from personal experience, but from mentoring others on how to prevent burnout. Beyond the cultural norm of a 40 hour work week (which, by the way, is completely arbitrary and made up!) they dive into the additional "shoulds" of social media, vanity numbers and how new age technology contributes to our sense of overwhelm and burnout as well  What it boils down to is this - find joy in what you do, life is too short to do anything less.  Join the Patreon for just 5 dollars a month to join the monthly zoom workshops! 2. Frickin' Cheryl

Jess & Morgan talk about getting outside your comfort zone, fondue, and the concept of how your underlying beliefs shape where you are at. This episode lays the groundwork for what's to come. Picture your life in 15 years. Do you envision yet another one of your birthdays at the office? Crooked polka dot birthday hat secured tightly under your chin, stale cake crumbs on your lapels, and Cheryl singing her birthday wishes loud and proud, (very) off key, above the cohort?  We didn't think so, let's talk about it and build some momentum so we can politely but definitively move on from where we are to where we dream to be.  They answer a question from Luke over at johnsoncowoodwork as well as one from Rae at raechill.designs Check out Maggie's incredible work at lousfosterlounge on the 'gram Follow on instagram:TheDropOutsFM Become a Patreon: The Drop Out Podcast Patreon Email:  [email protected] Check out the bare bones website that is still under development: The Drop Outs Website (merch coming soon!)
