Where two or more are gathered is most commonly quoted to give legitimacy to assembling separate from a congregation. Meaning that even though there might only be a few people gathered God is still with them. But does that ignore the context in which this verse is written?

John 14:13-14 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.We are told to ask and it will be done as we request. Ask anything, Jesus says. But ask it in My name,  Why in His name? Does this mean that anything we ask for we will receive as long as we ask it in Jesus' name?

We’ve probably all seen the words of Jeremiah 29:11 on graduation cards, encouragement cards, and other merchandise. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.The way we use this verse seems to be implying God has plans to give an individual a prosperous career, good health, or even money in the bank. But is that what this verse is telling us?
