Research #60
Stress and histamine are often linked, so remember to focus on this area as well as diet, supplements and so on. Stress can have a significant impact on how you feel both mentally and physically, as research has found that histamine issues have all sorts of mental and brain impacts. I'm diving into this at the moment as I write my latest book. Pizza #57
Today on the podcast you'll hear a little of my personal story. When I was 18 years old, I was lucky enough to travel to Italy and live there for six months. But I also wonder if my time spent in Italy was the start of my histamine troubles. I ate pizza and drank beer. That’s it. Every day. Pizza washed down with beer. Okay, occasionally a starter of pasta appeared before the pizzas, but it was mainly pepperoni pizza and beer. Listen in for more! I tend to hit 7/8 most days. The rest of the time, you’ll simply consume water (and perhaps black coffee). Yeast #23
Is it to be avoided on a low-histamine diet? Let's find out. FYI, the Healing Histamine website says this. In baking, bicarbonate of soda and sometimes calcium carbonate, are great substitutes. I’ve found that natural fermentation is also preferable to man made yeast (which is not natural at all) that’s added in baking. There’s some debate as to whether yeast baked at very high temperature is still a problem for us. I have no information on whether nutritional yeast is alright from a histamine perspective. Of note is that vitamin B12 is made from bacterial process, which may account for why many struggle with it, while many vitamin B supplements generally are made from, or grown with, yeast. This absolutely does not mean we shouldn’t take them, but rather an explanation as to why they may have bothered you in the past. Cheese #19
Let’s talk about histamine intolerance and cheese. I’m okay with some soft cheeses. But I went out last night and had a delicious curry with paneer in it. I discovered that isn't okay for me. Feta is better, but it is listed as medium histamine on the food list on my site. I’ve put particular care into the cheese area as this an area that lots of people ask about. As a basic rule of thumb it seems the more aged the cheese the higher the levels of histamine. So a blue veiny Stilton is absolutely off the chart, but a young mozzarella will tend to have much lower levels of histamine. Disclaimer: Always check with your doctor or health practitioner before starting any treatment program. This is not advice, it is intended for information and discussion only. Feta is softish and many seem to tolerate it, and as always it might have to be something you test. Do bookmark the food list on the website. I’ve made it as simple as possible with an emoji traffic light system to create the most comprehensive, alphabetical histamine intolerance list. * Red - high histamine = 😡 * Yellow - medium/debate = 🤔 * Green - foods generally low = ✅ So when you are out and about you can simply open this page and search for the food you aren’t sure about. We’ve listed our sources on the site too. Where do you stand on cheese? Are you able to eat Feta? What about other cheeses? Let me know on the site.

Just brewed ☕ A histamine-fighting hibiscus tea. Don’t take my word for it. Beth O’Hara says… “Hibiscus is high in quercetin and kaempferol that can support mast cells. Skin issues #17
Having been on holiday for the last two weeks, my ‘cute’ (some might say) freckles are out in force We’ve talked regularly about the link between histamine intolerance and skin issues. I'm looking at two interesting areas at the moment, copper peptides and zeolite on the skin. I'll come to that in a second. But first. But I wonder if anyone has noticed a link with; Skin pigmentation Moles Freckles Rosacea Dark Skin Patches (probably not the technical term) Melasma Vitiligo I don’t honestly know the answer which is why I’m asking! There’s an interesting article on the Healing Histamine site on this here which suggests a link. https://healinghistamine.com/blog/how-histamine-affects-skin-pigmentation/ I'm looking at two interesting areas at the moment, copper peptides and zeolite on the skin. Detox part 2 (feat. Dilkiran Kumar) #16
Part 2 - a second excerpt from my interview on this detox protocol. I’ve found a huge benefit to taking Toxaprevent. The tests they’ve carried out on histamine removal in the stomach are fairly astonishing. So I speak to Dilkiran Kumar about it in more depth. This is an excerpt from the longer interview which you can hear on my podcast Zestology. Many of my symptoms start in the gut, and this is well worth a go. I take it on an empty stomach with a flare-up, and half an hour before a high-histamine meal too. It is proven to remove the majority of histamine from the gut, and their test results are incredible. This is my current go-to histamine supplement. Ships worldwide. Use the code HISTAMINE5 to get 5% discount on all Toxaprevent products. Avocado Allergy? #13
Are avocados high in histamina? Who’s up for forming an Avocado Reintroduction Support Group? Avocados are generally regarded as being high in histamine. And while we might use the word allergy, histamine intolerance isn't an allergy as such, although does mimic many similar symptoms. The science backs this up. In this study https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6306728/ the existing data was reviewed with these results. So we talk avocados and histamine today. Alcohol #7
Three points that might help with histamine intolerance and alcohol. Red wine is literally my favourite, so it pains me to write this. But it's mega-high histamine according to all the major lists, plus I know I react to it. It took me a long time to work this out too, but boy do I have big reactions to Vino Rosso.
