About Gavin
Gavin has been a lifelong athlete, with more than twenty-five years in the fitness industry. He has worked for top facilities in New York and Los Angeles as a high level trainer, bringing his own style of skill-based training combined with Muay Thai kickboxing to clients who wanted to get results while having fun. In that time he has also become a much sought after strength coach. Employing the same philosophy of focus, purpose and intent in developing programs for several elite level athletes ranging from Muay Thai kickboxing, Brazilian jiujitsu, track and field, and snowboarding.
After leaving his position as an educator at Equinox Fitness in 2006, Gavin has helped develop programs for smaller gyms and Martial Arts facilities in the New York area, bringing Sandbag training, Kettle bells, Suspension training and many of what were considered to be then “unorthodox methods” of training to what is now the forefront in the fitness industry. Gavin still works to help other trainers and facilities as a consultant and has often been called “The Trainer’s Trainer” by many within the health and wellness community.

So many times people have come to me with the same issue. “I go to the gym regularly, I lift weights, I do cardio, I spend up to 1 1/2 to 2 hours (way to long) there but I’m not seeing the results I want.” Often I will ask them to give me a breakdown of what they do at the gym, and often this is what I’ll here. “I use the treadmill (elliptical, bike) for forty-five minutes to an hour”, “I do curls, bench press, leg presses, leg curls then leg extensions then abs” (most of these movements on “selectorized*” machines), “I do back and bi’s on one day then chest and tris on the next, on the third day I’ll do legs”, “I do boot camp style classes that use bells, plyometrics, and interval training but I keep getting injuries”
gavtrainingHonestly, the list goes on and on. All of this work is done in earnest, the intent is good but more times than not people tend to either do movements that yield little benefit and /or we tend to “over train”. The problem here is lack of information along with the high amount of misinformation that is thrown at us on the Internet, television, and fitness media. The best I can do to help this situation is to try to the best of my ability to educate my clientele as to how to understand basic fitness programming, fundamentals in bio mechanics, how to understand metabolic factors in training, and most importantly how to maximize their bodies recuperative capabilities.
These are all tools that you will learn to use so that even when you’re not in a gym you will be able to design a program for yourself using as I said earlier “little or even no equipment”.

Real Fighters Gym is the culmination of 20 years of hard work, training, fighting and learning from and among many of the best fighters in the world. Currently located in the Bluegrass Industrial Park, the gym is home to Team Haycraft, the gym’s fight team. Head Coach, Eric Haycraft, has spent his entire life learning the fight game. First as student, then a fighter and now as a coach. These experiences culminate in the programs at Real Fighters Gym.

Lev Borukhov is a physical therapist with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from New York Institute of Technology. He started his own practice with the mission to spend more time with each patients by providing full one-hour one-to-one sessions without the time-constraints of a big office practice. Using evidence based therapies and hands on techniques, patients not only get better, they learn how to stay better, run faster, jump higher and kick harder.
Lev graduated SUNY Stony Brook University with a double major in Psychology and Health Sciences. His academic pursuits coupled with his love of martial arts, movement, and performance led him to pursue a career in physical therapy. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2011, and has worked in various physical therapy settings for the last five years. During this time, Lev witnessed that the biggest reason for poor rehabilitation outcomes was due to decreased time spent with patients by their physical therapist. Too often, patients were passed off to aides or trainers, or just given a sheet of paper and told to do exercises on their own. He strongly believes that movement is the key to recovery and exercises are what we use to facilitate correct movement.
In his spare time he is usually training and competing in Muay Thai and enjoys bicycling around New York City. He is an active amateur fighter for Chok Sabai Gym. He also assists as second corner at fight shows for the Chok Sabai fight team and traveled to Iowa for the Muay Thai Classic tournament with the team to provide on-site help with acute injuries.
Lev has been published in the Journal of Novel Physiotherapies about his research with Low Level Light Therapy and Endurance Training.

As son to the late Grandmaster Helio Gracie, Royler is a member of the Gracie family. He holds a 7th degree red/black belt in the style pioneered by his family, Brazilian jiu-jitsu.[11]
Prior to his retirement, Royler competed in the black-belt ranks for 20+ years. Royler is also a four-time World Jiu-Jitsu Champion in the Pena/Featherweight Black Belt Category and has placed in the Absolute Division.
Royler has a professional mixed martial arts record of five wins, five losses and one draw. His retirement fight came on September 14, 2011 at the age of 45 when he lost to Masakatsu Ueda via split decision.[12]
Royler Gracie had a highly anticipated rematch against Eddie Bravo on March 29, 2014 at Metamoris III in a submission only competition format. Despite a tight calf slicer submission attempt and multiple groin stretch attempts by Eddie, Royler did not tap and the match concluded as a draw.

Biography
I moved from Clinton, MD to NYC in 2003 to attend The Cooper Union School of Art. After graduating, my new career choice took most people by surprise. I started Muay Thai as a hobby, but after going undefeated at 14-0 in my amateur Muay Thai fights, I decided to take my training more seriously and go pro. I debuted on Lion Fight 11 and earned my first unanimous decision win as a pro. I went on to headline on Friday Night Fights in NYC and won the North American WKA Flyweight title! I represent Evolution Muay Thai in NYC, and under Muay Thai coach Brandon Levi and with Radical MMA owner Rene Driefuss, I'm working towards having a successful pro MMA debut in the near future!

During the past five years, I have traveled all over the United States learning the CrossFit doctrine. It all began with a conversation I was having with someone at the gym. We were discussing our workouts and how boring they had become. As we were talking, someone interjected with a simple statement: “CrossFit.” We started talking and I was curious, so I went home and checked out the site and was hooked—the methodology and the science behind it seemed to make a lot of sense. Not long after that I flew out to California to attend the level 1 certification. I then started working for an affiliate. Three years later I received my level 2 certification, along with other specialty certifications. What I am trying to accomplish with CrossFit A.C.T is simple: to make it the best environment for any athlete. Whether you are a seasoned CrossFitter, an athlete looking to gain an edge, or someone looking to lose weight, I will do my best to make sure that you receive top-notch coaching. I have been training people for over five years, and there is nothing else I could see myself doing. It’s my job to make you love that one hour a day you spend here and learn something about yourself—setting goals and smashing them.
Jessica Murden
I've been an athlete my entire life, playing competitive softball as a pitcher up and down the east cost until I was 18. In college, I was a member of the University of San Diego Women's Crew Team for a year, until I transferred back home to the Fashion Institute of Technology. Although an amazing school, FIT obviously did not have the athletic edge that I was accustomed to. So I got heavily involved in the fitness industry, getting my personal training and spin certifications. I thrived in the gym and loved every minute of teaching. However, in 2010, I tried a CrossFit class in lululemon athletica and never looked back. It was the rush and competitive edge that I had been missing; it was everything I looked for in a workout. Now, almost three and a half years later, I am co-owner and marketing director of CrossFit ACT in Saddle Brook, NJ. I, along with my partner, Bill Shockley, aim to create the best and most supportive environment for training. We make athletes of all shapes and sizes, all along they way providing the best coaching we can possibly give.
