3. Strengthening the Brain
We’ve all heard the saying your brain is like a muscle. But what does that truly mean? Basically, the more we use it, the stronger it gets. We can apply this same theory to retrieval practice, which is when we give students an opportunity to access information they previously learned from their long-term memory. Every time students access this information it becomes easier to retrieve in the future. Connect with us on Instagram @2ndstorywindow. 2. Rethinking Read Alouds
What read alouds do you remember from when you were a student? Some of the books that are really memorable for us from elementary school are Where the Red Fern Grows, Charlotte’s Web, The Trumpet of the Swan, and The Little Princess. Read aloud time was always one of our most favorite times of the day as teachers. It's such a meaningful way to connect with your students, especially at the end of a long, hard day. We bet you know all about that! Today we’re sharing our approach to classroom read alouds and why you may want to reconsider your read aloud choices. Connect with us on Instagram @2ndstorywindow.
