Episode 65: Remote Work Revisited – Angelina Ebeling

Guest: Angelina Ebeling, Founder of Acework Host: Victor Hoeck – Solution Advisory Specialist, Digital Supply Chain My name is Victor Höck and I am a solution advisor at SAP. From me you are going to hear about two things in the future: First, I'm going focus on all things Supply Chain; but Secondly, I'll also have conversations about the big picture of how Technology is shaping the way we work. This conversation today belongs into the second basket, and I wanted it to kick off my episodes on the SAP Experts Podcast because it ties back to my first appearance on the show, episode 31. This was a conversation from the very first weeks of the pandemic, in which Alexander Greb and I discussed the impact COVID was going to have on business. We made some very bold predictions in this episode, and one of those we made was that remote work is here to stay. In this episode, I will put this prediction to the test, and I couldn't have chosen a better guest for that. Angelina Ebeling is the founder of Acework, a consulting company zeroing in on remote work. She also has her own podcast about remote work over at Digital Kompakt, so if you want to know the best practices around how to work remotely, I encourage you to go check it out (links below). We talked about how tech was a big enabler of our societies' resilience in this pandemic, and how tech alone is still not enough (as the phenomenon of Zoom fatigue highlights) and also how Angelina walks the talk with her own team. SAP Experts Podcast Episode 59: A Masterclass in Sales (Part 1 of 2)

Guests: Eric Shaver – Managing Partner, Kensei Partners LLC Host: Alexander Greb - Customer Advisory Lead S/4HANA, SAP Today we have something very special for you, because this week and next week, we focus one hundred percent on a practice / a profession, that is playing a huge role in our industry because it’s the one that in a certain way feeds us and is central for the financial success of our enterprise. We are going to talk about sales and how it is done right in the 21 century. I have the very special privilege to welcome Mr Eric Shaver, Managing Partner of Kensei Partners a prominent sales consultancy firm, who has been a very successful Account Executive himself all of his career and today is advising sales professionals on how to excel at their jobs. that being said this is what we are going to do in this “Masterclass in Sales”. And since neither Eric’s competence nor his great personality can be squeezed in on Episode only, we did a two-part podcast out of this, so you will get the first part today, and the second part next week, overall three hours of premium content that will help you to become a master seller yourself. And especially in 2021 it is of utter importance that you reflect heavily on how you do your job. Because as Eric says in past years dumb money forgave bad behaviorisms and bad routines, but dump money has gone away – money has shifted, so have power and control structures. There are different criteria now so the bad news is: your legacy relationships don’t matter anymore. The rush to the cloud does the rest to disrupt your profession. The consequences are severe: When IT Spends were CAPEX you sold to the IT, since cloud this spend is now OPEX so business departments decide on what happens. On this first part we talked among many other things about how to approach and sell to business, on what you should build your relationship on and that trusted advisors don’t sell software nor cloud subscriptions You learn what is the great corrupter of your pipeline, the right way to talk about money, how you qualify properly, the sins of sales and why sales should NOT be the extension of marketing, Also, why discounts are false friends and kill your success in the long run and how you should correctly handle funding, where and when. And this is just the beginning. So if you are working in sales or sales supporting roles, buckle up cause this double episode is quite a ride. SAP Experts Podcast Episode 58: All about Business Process Intelligence - Wassilios Lolas, Michael Sokollek

Guests: Wassilios Lolas - Vice President Customer Value Experience, SAP, Michael Sokollek - Business Development, SAP Host: Alexander Greb - Customer Advisory Lead S/4HANA, SAP Welcome everybody, my name is Alexander Greb, I am the Customer Advisory lead S/4HANA at SAP and you are listening to the SAP Experts Podcast. The worst thing that can happen to any digitalization initiative is that the adopter decides to approach that topic of going to S/4HANA via a Lean Migration, that basically does nothing more than taking all your old stuff and pushing it on the modern platform and by this everything … is, looks and feels the same as before. Thats not how you progress that’s not how you leverage the value of digitalization and that’s not what best-in-class adopters want. Frankly, even if you decide to become not a Best-in-Class adopter, you still should take care that your money is well spend and you are actually better after moving to S/4HANA because you implement innovation AND you optimize your processes that in many cases, have not been changed since the Pleistocene while your business model and customer demands have moved on. What you want in the latter case is to have an application within your landscape that acts like a sparring partner. One that focuses your attention to those areas where you can and should be better, that gives you insight where the money and the performance is hidden under your legacy processes and how to realize potential fast and efficiently. This is what SAPs new line called Business Process Intelligence is all about. Being part of the RISEwithSAP offering, it brings you the full scope of next-gen process excellence like Analysis, Design and Simulation as well as Improvement, Roll-out and Govern and monitoring capabilities. For me that was a great opportunity to invite two old friends to this podcast who have now prominent roles within the new BPI organization: Wassilios Lolas, Vice President of Customer Value Experience and Michael Sokollek, Tech Evangelist and Business Development Responsible join me today to discuss all that you want to know about RISE and Business Process Intelligence. Guest: Bill Bowers, Global Vice President S/4HANA Solution Management, SAP Host: Alexander Greb – Customer Advisory Lead S/4HANA, SAP In our industry, the first two months of the year are traditionally those with the big announcements. Guest: Tobias Gefaeller, Vice President, Corporate Strategy, SAP Host: Alexander Greb, Customer Advisory Lead S/4HANA, SAP If you are working within the SAP ecosystem you will be hard pressed to not have noticed that SAP has sharpened its strategy and is going ALL-IN concerning cloud. To our partners and customers, this has become of course most obvious by our strategic business-transformation-as-a-service offering called RISE. But what is behind all that? In which overarching strategy is RISE embedded. And who are those corporates strategists, who are the brains behind all that and how do they work? I hooked up with Tobias Gefaeller, Vice President and Head of Corporate Strategy at SAP, to discuss not only details about SAPs Long Term Strategy called Reinvent, but also the methods and procedures of a Best Practice corporate strategy process, how technology is disrupting these activities and of course, the capabilities you need to excel in the exiting world of corporate strategy development at SAP. SAP Experts Podcast Episode 55: RISE with SAP: Our Strategic Cloud Offering 2021 - Dr. Uwe Grigoleit

Guest: Dr. Uwe Grigoleit - Senior Vice President, Head of Go-to-Market , SAP Host: Alexander Greb – Customer Advisory Lead S/4HANA, SAP Change has always been part of business, but today’s environment means we need to deal with change – both good and bad – faster than ever before. In the last 10 months we all learned AGAIN that only companies that adapt quickly will thrive. You need to work more agile, more intelligently, more efficiently to point out new ways. And doing so takes more than just a technical migration to the cloud or a lean conversion of your ECC system to S/4HANA. A holistic business transformation is about changing the whole culture and mindset of an enterprise. It’s about redesigning your business processes. It’s about adopting new technologies – to unlock new ways of running your business and stay ahead of your competitors. And as a listener to this podcast, you know: It’s not about continuing doing the things you did all the time just a bit better but being able to do things you were not able to do before. To truly transform your business at your speed and terms, you need more than Infrastructure-as-a- Service or Software-as-a-Service. You need a holistic offering. What you really need is Business Transformation-as-a-Service. „RISE with SAP“ is SAPs new 2021 ALL-IN strategy, an offer that packages the most important elements for your digital journey. When you and your company are in a digitalization initiative, your biggest enemy often is hesitation. On this episode I have two guests, who did not have time for that. Imagine a situation in which you have been given 16 months to deploy S/4 HANA to 33 entities. And since the company we are talking about is freshly carved out, you are alone, without something like an existing IT department. Plenty of reason to state this is impossible. Not for today’s guests because that’s what they have just done. I am stunned to welcome the CIO of SUSE, Mr. Sebastian Drews and EMEA market director Friedrich Krey to our podcast who are going to tell us how they managed to deliver this feat thanks to S/4HANA Cloud and the power of SUSE Linux. If you are working with SAP ERP systems be it ECC or S/4HANA you are hard pressed not to have had contact at some point with the S/4HANA Movement or short MOVE. SAP has launched this global program two years ago to encourage our customers to make the step to our intelligent next-gen ERP and to provide them with the tools, assets, and services needed for an easy and seamless transformation. But still remember, all of us thought that technology induced industry disruption is a big thing, and then came COVID and our definition of a big thing actually changed. With the global economy dumping down the same rate that corona infections rise, it is not very easy to get a clear picture of the situation, neither for us individuals, nor for enterprises who are struggling to cope with the challenges and build resilience. When taking a look into media, you will find many opinions about the situation ranging from we are all doomed to “we are getting out of this with a black eye”. It is a good idea to take a look into the reality of SAP customers how they are doing at this moment right now. SAP Experts Podcast Episode 27: The Do’s and Dont’s when approaching S/4HANA

Five years after the initial release of S/4HANA it is interesting to see that still some are unsure about the Dos and Don’ts when approaching S/4HANA and this is not only about adopters, but I talk about partners, and ourselves at SAP and I am straight looking at Sales, Presales and Value Engineers. That’s why I sat together with Mr. William “Bill” Bowers, Global Vice President of the Solution Management S/4HANA at SAP to discuss not only the Top3 common mistakes made while approaching S/4HANA, but also the Best Practices for a pragmatic approach, that helps you and your customers, to find a common understanding and your individual case for your Intelligent ERP initiative. SAP Experts Podcast Episode 26: Authentic Leadership

Not only in a working relations, Leadership is a topic which affects anybody be if you are in the position to lead others, or others lead you. Even though we are talking mostly about enterprise applications in this podcast … and this industry, it is undisputed that the way key functions do their job probably affects enterprise success even more than bits and bytes. Leadership might be a hot discussed topic, leadership gurus like Simon Sinek might be omnipresent and whenever you see some shared wisdoms from them you can be sure it got at least one hundred likes on social media, but still in many cases on the one hand not the best leaders but the best experts are promoted into leadership positions and do more harm than good, and on this other side those who have gotten into these position often think about “what have I done to myself” obviously being completely unprepared for “leadership”. So lots of topics to discuss, since I have the pleasure to host Swen Heidenreich, who is Managing Director of Heidenreich Consulting, specializing in executive coaching. SAP Experts Podcast Episode 23: The Future of Digital Supply Chain Management

Around Christmas I sat together with Hans Thalbauer the SAP Senior Vice President responsible for Digital Supply Chain Management and Internet of Things and we had a conversation about what can we can expect logistically out of 2020 and what requirements possible events in 2020 could have on setup, performance and flexibility. We talked about how political events, natural disasters and pandemies are affecting the global supply chains and the business of enterprises. And what is happening now: Dow Jones crashed last Thursday down 1.200 points, as much as never before as the Corona Virus Outbreak interrupts business, global sourcing, selling and travel. It shows us, how vulnerable our global supply chains have become and how flexible, transparent and agile companies have to be in the 21st centuries to act and react on these kinds of distruptive events. Listen to Hans Thalbauer outlining what capabilities modern Supply Chains need and how performance levels can be achieved that enable you to cope with todays turmoils. So what we did was to do something new. You can surely find a lot of interesting podcast resources covering the topic of experience management in a very competent way. But Steve and I dialed up once late evening, opened a beer and talked about the sometimes very abstract topic of Experience Management being two guys with flesh and blood, a language that you surely will understand and will help you to demystify the world of Experience Management. Companies that don’t see their economic purpose in digging for oil. They are digging for data, which is the oil of the 21st century. SAP Experts Podcast 15: The World of Analytics

Lately there was some interesting story in tech news. For the third year in a row, the board of a Californian giant in the world of enterprise applications rejected a shareholder proposal for the company to release data about how much women are paid at the company relative to men. While many tech companies incl. SAP have provided disclosures around gender pay equity issues and committed to closing pay gaps, this one tech company has continued to refuse to do so because, as they stated, it would be “costly and time consuming!”. That is quite astonishing because, if this company misses the data transparence to dig this information quickly and cost-effective, they need the capabilities of SAP’s analytics portfolio and today’s guest definitely could help. Mr. Mohamed Abdel Hadi, Vice President for Product Management Analytics at SAP will give us his personal spin and his insights into the world of analytics. SAP Experts Podcast Episode 12: Tangible Innovation

Basically, turning people’s heads by talking about innovation is easy. Invent some fancy title for yourself which should ideally contain the words “Innovation”, “Digitalisation” or in the best case “Alchemist” and, very important, dress up like a hipster. That adds credibility. Then you look up youtube for the latest TED Talks and you will be able to reel off the fancy inventions and cloud castle and hope the whole linkedin community will cheer for you. Well, unfortunately at times it happens to be like that and that’s not good because it takes the substance out of the topic since you forget the most important aspect how true innovation at the customer can be ignited. It should be individual, approachable and tangible. If your inno cases do not touch the individual situation and strategy of the customer, you failed. And you are doing more harm than help. So lets bring the substance back and put an emphasis on the aspect of tangibility. That’s why I invited somebody who does not only talk about innovation, but also takes care that it is sparked, realized and implemented at awesome customers like Porsche Motorsport. He makes his hands dirty he is Mr. Timo Deiner, the “Innovation Guy”. Here, at the SAP Experts Podcast So please like, share and subscribe! SAP Experts Podcast Episode 11: The X (Data) Files

If you have not yet gotten the message that SAP has now something with an X, or Experience Data, you probably live behind the moon. So it is quite obvious that the experience topic has a big strategic relevance for SAP, and that’s not because we want it to be like that, but because winning in the 21st century means adapting to an experience economy where customer centric processes and the emotional connection of your customer to your products should not only be of utter importance for you, it should guide your strategic decisions. But this topic is not only about customers attitude towards you and your products, but also how your employees think about you. So if your best horse quits its job you should not be caught surprised anymore. But we do not want to do an X+O pitch here, we want to tackle the topic a level deeper so I met with Christine Fischer, whose job as Vice President and Head of Business Development is to run that topic and the integration of X+0 in Europe, so she is the right person to give us a 360 degree overview. We will talk not only about the strategic implications of X Data, but also where we are as SAP in that respect and what the SAP community can expect in the coming months. SAP Experts Podcast Episode 10: Build your case for S/4HANA

If you remember Episode 8 of our podcast series featuring the right approach to S/4HANA, Uwe Grigoleit told about the Viessmann case. Viessmann, an international manufacturer heating, industrial and refrigeration systems, had a quite clear case to move to S/4HANA. Inventory savings in two-digit millions as a result of an ERP transformation to S/4HANA made the path for a fast decision to do the Move. But of course, not in all cases, it is easy as that. Imagine a typical approach to S/4HANA. While pitches mostly cover the general benefits, which is ok for a first approach, you have to second that with an individual option. The customer wants to know what’s in for him individually and that’s where an answer within modern process architectures of the 21st century is not so easily given when manually approached. It’s all about questions on which you could spent months. That’s why SAP offers you intelligent tools that do that work for you. And today I am very pleased to have the man here in Walldorf whose team is behind those great tools like the Business Scenario Recommendations Report and the Pathfinder, Mr. Wassilios Lolas who is as Vice President and Global Head of Customer Value Experience responsible for smoothening your path to become an intelligent enterprise. SAP Experts Podcast Episode 8: Spinoff

Welcome to the SAP Experts Podcast -Spinoff. With this episode I want to introduce and add an new label and a little bit different piece and format to the SAP Experts Podcast which will co- exist with the future episodes of the classic format that you already and hopefully love by now. The reason: We at SAP have many different Podcasts which differ a lot in format, style, content and length. Many of them are purely internal podcasts, that are not available to the public. But from time to time, those internal podcasts generate episodes where it would be a shame to keep them internal because they would be certainly also interesting for public audiences. One of those internal Podcasts that generate such episodes is “The Cast” by Mike Fecek. Mike is Global Director for Presales Solutions at SAP and his Supply Chain Solution Hub consists of product and industry experts that develop cutting edge solutions for any SAP customer that earns his or her money by actually producing or moving things. So with this I want to give Mike and his colleagues a platform to publish interesting content from their pool, while the Experts Podcast episodes you are used to will of course continue to be released as usual. Since the cast consists of episodes which are a bit shorter in duration than what you are used from me, we packed two Cast episodes back to back into this format, starting with “Project Intelligence Network” before Mike will talk about “Predicting Asset Health and avoiding failure”.
