Falling Into Mom Shaming: Parenting through Humor - Part 2
Andie and Angie are talking about mom shame once again! Yay! Actually, this episode is hilarious and relatable! Because let’s face it, sometimes mom shame can just creep into your life, and all of a sudden you’re left asking, “Wait, did she just shame me?” So watch out for those passive/aggressive comments… or maybe you’re completely unaware of it like Angie. The holidays can be especially tricky since there’s so much pressure to be the perfect mom. One question to ask yourself, or even another mom is, “Why do you feel so strongly about this topic?” Because it’s best when moms come ready to learn from other moms instead of judging them. Do you know who doesn’t get shamed? Volunteers! Turns out, no one shames the mom in a matching volunteer shirt who is ready to help! So grab your volunteer badge and get ready to laugh! Or maybe you need to even try parenting through humor! Andie and Angie share an important announcement at the end. “Stay home and stay hydrated.” Does your child have a cold or just bad allergies? In this relatable episode of Mother Funny, Andie and Angie talk about back to school sickness. Kids have been back in school for a few months which means there is a good chance they have either already been sick, or they are about to get sick. It’s so unfortunate, but at least their immune system is getting stronger. Allergies can also be pretty bad during the fall so that just ads to the sneezes and coughs. Moms are often trying to figure out if their child has a cold or if they are just struggling with allergies. One thing is for sure, the stomach flu is the worst. In this hilarious episode Andie and Angie rename the stomach bug the stomach plague. They think the stomach flu needs a serious title that explains how awful the stomach plague actually is. Interview with Danielle - Part 1 Meal Planning
Andie and Angie interview Angie’s sister Danielle, who is also the owner and property manager of Legacy Farms. In this episode, Danielle talks about meal planning, which is apparently important since kids want to eat dinner every night. The bad advice moms fall into is that they need to accommodate everyone's tastes. This can lead to making multiple meals for every dinner. It can be impossible for moms to accommodate everyone’s likes and dislikes. Danielle discusses how to meal plan for multiple kids of all different ages. Danielle’s meal planning journey began when she started watching the food network (thank you Rachael Ray) and also looking through Taste of Home magazine. Danielle's meal plans for four weekdays and one weekend meal. One pot meal lessens the dishes you have to do. Few ingredients, and few dishes. Sometimes trying new recipes with different textures and colors can be a win with the kids. Even just adding spices can change a meal entirely. Have realistic expectations when it comes to cooking. The more you practice cooking the better you’ll get. Sitting down as a family, and eating together without cell phones is a priority and good for your mental health. Get ready to embrace the chaos and dive into the crazy days of summer with Andie and Angie. Summer may be all about fun for the kids, but let's face it, it's survival mode for moms! Summer as a mom can be a lot of work since your kids are with you most if not all of the time. Plus, kids apparently are extra hungry during the summer and need to eat snacks nonstop. There is definitely an adjustment period siblings experience since they go from school and extracurricular activities to being together all day, every day. It's a whole new level of togetherness. Kids have been looking forward to summer for months. As Andie says, “The need for a break and to just rest is needed now more than ever before.” So take a deep breath, and know that Andie and Angie are cheering you on as you try to make summer as fun as possible.

Summertime Movies - Part 2
“We honor Dolly Parton and we love her so much with our whole hearts!” It’s summertime and moms are headed to the movies with their kids. It’s okay if you haven’t been to the movies in a while though. Let’s face it, moms are super busy. Or sometimes it’s just easier for moms to watch a movie with their kids at home. Andie and Angie talk all things Top Gun Maverick, Inside Out 2, Indiana Jones, Avengers, and more. One thing they both can agree on is how much they like the docuseries American Sweethearts (it used to be called Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team). Did you see the Cowboys halftime show when Dolly Parton performed? That was by far the best halftime show of all time! Andie and Angie absolutely love Dolly Parton! However, these two cousins don’t quite agree on Beyonce breaking into the country music scene. So grab some popcorn, or your cowboy boots, because this episode is funny, relatable, unexpected, and entertaining. Don’t worry, Andie doesn’t share any secrets from the movie. Angie just needs to know how sad Inside Out 2 really is, so the two cousins start talking about The Lion King, other Disney movies, movies from their childhood, and Angie’s favorite movie as a kid- 1776. Let Them Be Bored - Part 1
In this Mother Funny episode, Andie and Angie are talking about the super exciting topic- boredom. January might feel like the longest month of the year, especially when it’s cold outside. Long weekends, cold temps, and snow outside can have kids wandering through the house looking for something fun to do. It's at that moment when your kids declare the ultimate dreaded phrase: "Mom, I'm bored!" But guess what, there's no need to panic. Andie and Angie have been there and completely understand. As it turns out, short bursts of boredom actually encourage creativity and problem-solving skills. Boredom is actually a healthy and typical emotion for kids to feel. Crafts, puzzles, playing cards, board games, and painting are fantastic ideas to keep kids engaged and having fun. Sometimes all moms need to do is encourage their kids to come up with a fun activity all on their own. It’s amazing to see what kids can create when they are given the time and space to simply create whatever they want to. So take a deep breath mama’s because it’s not your job to entertain your kids 100% of the time. You’re already really busy being an amazing mom!

“When it comes to expectations- you do you.” In this Mother Funny episode, Andie and Angie are continuing their conversation about expectations. How do you break away from the unrealistic expectations of motherhood? Sometimes you’re giving your kids high-fives and hugs, while other times your toddler is on the floor having a tantrum. Accept the ebb and flow of motherhood, and you're golden. It can take a village to help you meet some of your mom expectations. But if your support system is super judgmental, walk down the street and find yourself a new village. Life’s too short for negativity! Andie and Angie put a positive spin on the Double Standard Technique and create “The Mother Funny Friendship Technique.” So give yourself grace and compassion when your expectations aren’t met, and remember to make expectations that work for you and your family. This episode is all about being the mom you want to be, setting realistic expectations, and laughing along the way. You’re doing a great job mama!

Interview With Dr. Jamie: Mommy Burnout - Part 2
“It’s important to talk about so moms don’t feel alone.” In this episode of Mother Funny, Andie and Angie are continuing their conversation with Dr. Mom (aka Dr. Jamie or Dr. Poust). Mommy Burnout is something every mom can relate to. Sure, it’s not the most uplifting topic, but sometimes you just need to laugh through the hard times. Mommy burnout is seen at different times, and in different circumstances. Plus, it can change as your kids grow up or go through different phases. Moms who work outside the home can be burned out or emotionally drained at work, but then they come home and try to balance mom life. It can be a lot to handle. But guess what? There is no shame in asking for help. Sometimes you might just need a friend to listen to your struggles, and other times you might need help getting your kids to martial arts. Andie, Angie, and Dr. Jamie want you to know that you aren’t alone. And if there’s a time you start to feel overwhelmed maybe you just need to take a mommy time out. A few minutes to collect your thoughts might be exactly what you need. So go ahead and lower your expectations a little bit because the "Perfect Pinterest Mom" doesn’t exist. So whether you’re stressed out, laughing, or crying, just remember you’re doing a great job!

Candy: The Day After Halloween - Part 2
It’s the day after Halloween, also called All Saints Day. For moms though, November first is the day when your kids experience the dreaded sugar crash, and moms need extra caffeine. Let’s face it, you’re all just trying to make it through the day. The district Angie’s kids go to has the day off on November first. So Angie's on a mission to spread the 'No School on November 1st Movement.’ Seriously, it makes so much sense. Halloween night is like Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve rolled into one- full of excitement, chaos, staying up late, and of course sugar galore! Halloween night is exhilarating and exhausting. It’s pretty much impossible to get kids to school on time the morning after Halloween. Andie suggests that November 1st should be a National Mental Health Day so kids and moms can rest, relax, and eat a ton of Halloween candy! Andie also has a new thesis she’s working on titled: Could Drugs be in Halloween Candy? Yes, this is a not so Mother Funny topic, but sometimes certain things need to be addressed. You definitely want to hear this discussion. It’s funny and informative. One thing most moms can agree on is that you need to check your kid's candy after trick or treating. If it's open, toss it. If it has a weird name, say goodbye. Or your kids can donate the candy they don’t want to the Candy Fairy! Now this is a gem of an idea! It's a win-win for everyone, and kids can make a small fortune! You can also donate candy to those in need, add it to trail mix, stash it in your purse, or donate the candy to troops serving in the military. Brilliant, right? So grab your coffee and get ready to laugh!

Candy: Happy Halloween - Part 1
“I’m gonna take my stand on ‘Thriller’ and hobo’s!” Halloween is here!!! And you know what that means - school fall festivals, church gatherings, trunk-or-treat events, and of course trick-or-treating! Regardless of what you believe, there are safe and exciting events for everyone! Andie addresses the most crucial Halloween matter at hand: Michael Jackson's ‘Thriller.' Andie insists that it should ONLY be played during the fall. Angie might be ‘Thriller’ impartial, but she's ready to sport a ‘Thriller’ button in support of Andie's cause. In this Mother Funny episode, Andie and Angie take a trip down memory lane. Of course Angie loved Halloween as a kid and even went trick-or-treating when she was in college! Andie on the other hand learned a hilarious life lesson when she was a teenager and went to a Halloween party dressed as a hobo. Angie is concerned the term hobo isn’t politically correct and this causes the two to launch into a funny discussion as they try to figure out if hobos will indeed be offended by the term. Thankfully, the tech team steps in to provide important information that the term hobo is not offensive and in many ways represents freedom. Who knew discussing costume terminology could be so funny? That’s the thing with Halloween, you never know what to expect…especially when you’re a mom. Andie talks about her Halloween journey, from church fall festivals to her family's first attempt at trick-or-treating. It’s a journey you definitely want to hear about. Don’t worry, no one was scared in the process. Because scaring kids is something Andie and Angie both agree is NOT part of the Halloween fun the family enjoys. Actually, Angie’s mama bear comes out anytime someone tries to scare her kids. So grab some Halloween candy and enjoy this Spooktacular episode!

Youngest Children: The Charmers of the Family - Part 2
“Laughter helps ease tension.” In this Mother Funny episode, Andie and Angie continue talking about the babies of the family! You know, the fun-loving, funny, and charming family members who might believe anything their older siblings or older cousins, tell them. So be careful what you say because they can spend their entire childhood believing it’s true. At least that is what happened to Angie. Andie and Angie tell about a time when they were young and Andie made up a story so Angie would put on her life jacket while they were on the boat. Well, Angie believed that story until she was 17 years old! That’s right…17! It’s okay though, because they can laugh about it now. And that’s the thing with youngest children… they try to be silly, and goofy and make everyone laugh as a way to ease tension in their household. Surprisingly, Andie and Angie actually both agree to disagree with the research that’s out there. You don’t want to miss it. They are finally both on the same page when it comes to youngest children being silly. So go ahead mamas, and laugh away when your little one does something funny. Andie and Angie reminisce about Andie’s 21st birthday sad celebration, and Andie shares about when she went gambling with her Grandma when Angie was only 19. The stories are hilarious and unforgettable! That’s the thing with youngest children, they can take risks regardless of their age. Just remember mamas to celebrate your youngest's accomplishments while also setting reasonable expectations. This will help build confidence and independence! Youngest Children: The Charmers of the Family - Part 1
“The youngest has to adapt to whatever is going on in the family.” It’s time to talk about the baby of the family! Andie and Angie are both the youngest children in their families. They are even in a "Youngest Club" with their Uncle Jeff! So, what's the lowdown on these youngest siblings? Well, they are risk-takers, outgoing, fun-loving, and the life of the party. But let's be real, they face some challenges too. They have to keep up with their older siblings' packed schedules and extracurricular activities. Now, here's the scoop from the research mamas – they say the youngest children in the family are 'spoiled.' Angie does not agree with that research… in fact, she rejects it completely. You definitely want to hear the debate that Andie and Angie have because Andie seems to side with the research. It’s hilarious and authentic at the same time. One thing Andie and Angie do agree on is that most parents relax their parenting style the more kids they have. By the time the youngest one is born, they are pretty much raising themselves. It’s a good thing youngest children are so charming.

In this podcast episode, Angie and Andie discuss tips and tricks for parenting firstborn children, drawing insights from professionals in the field. Characteristics of Firstborns: - Firstborn children are often natural leaders and driven. - They may have a strong desire for things to go their way. - Many firstborns exhibit perfectionist tendencies. - They tend to be reliable, great caregivers, and nurturing individuals. - Other characteristics include being ambitious, scholarly, enterprising, logical, and energetic.2. Handling the Need for Perfection: - Recognize that firstborns often have a deep-seated need to be perfect. - Teach children that making mistakes is acceptable and won't affect their worth or love. - Be willing to admit your own mistakes to set an example. - Occasionally make a mistake on purpose and show how to rectify it, emphasizing that it's okay.3. Avoid Overcorrecting: - Avoid overcorrecting or nitpicking your firstborn child. - Don't overly criticize them; instead, focus on constructive feedback. - Understand that their perfectionism may make it harder for them to admit when they're wrong.4. Encourage Independence: - Allow your firstborn child to learn new tasks or problem-solving on their own. - This helps them feel comfortable with imperfection and builds confidence.5. Set Clear Expectations: - Firstborns often respond well when they know the rules and expectations. - Clearly communicate your expectations to them. - Use phrases like "Tell me how I can please you" to involve them in defining rules and behaviors.6. Special Privileges: - Consider giving firstborns slightly later bedtimes or special privileges. - This can help them feel acknowledged for their age and responsibilities.7. Avoid Making Them Built-in Babysitters: - Be cautious not to rely on your firstborn as a constant babysitter for younger siblings or other children. - Respect their boundaries and understand that they have their own schedules and responsibilities.Andie and Angie share (maybe overshare) personal experiences and anecdotes throughout the podcast, offering valuable insights into parenting firstborn children. They emphasize the importance of balancing expectations and responsibilities to ensure the well-being and development of firstborns while acknowledging their unique traits.

Fall is such a busy season for moms since they are driving their kids to school and all of their extracurricular activities. When the world is spinning all around you, and you’re running from place to place, just stop, be present, and take a moment to be thankful (regardless of what month it is). Gratitude can actually reset your heart and your mind. This episode is both hilarious and heartwarming. But you should know that if you’re going to practice gratitude in October… you’re a rule breaker.

Juggling the Kid Chaos While You and/or Your Spouse Works From Home - Part 2
In this Mother Funny episode, Andie and Angie talk all about what it is like being married to someone who works from home. Back in the day, one parent would go to work/the office, while the other parent would stay home with the kids. But times have changed! People are now working from home. And if you’re in that home/work/kids situation then there’s a good chance your partner's workstation is just a few feet away. This can be difficult to navigate at times. But laughter, flexibility, communication, and scheduling can help you cope with some of the stress. Sometimes it can feel like there are two managers in the home. Or like someone is always in your space. It just takes time to adjust to the new setup. But let’s be real, it can be awkward when your spouse is talking and you reply. Then you find out they are on a work call. This can happen a lot since so many people have AirPods. At the end of the episode, Angie tells a story that you need to hear to believe. Lets’ just say at one point Angie was stuffing balloons into her minivan and then ended up bursting into her husbands office while he was in a meeting. It’s an unforgettable, hilarious story that will make you laugh every time you pass by a balloon display. So make sure to listen to this relatable, funny, helpful, and encouraging episode. And remember Mama, you're doing a great job managing your home, raising your kids, and balancing all of the home/work changes that have occurred over the past few years!

Juggling the Kid Chaos While You and/or Your Spouse Works From Home - Part 1
“Kids are chaos. You just have to roll with it.” In this episode of Mother Funny Andie and Angie dive into the world of working from home (or having a spouse who works from home), complete with kids, pets, and of course laughter! Since 2020 more people work remotely. This has created a whole new dynamic when raising kids. Parents can now attend more school events and class parties which is really exciting and fun! Finding the perfect work corner is not as exciting. Will it be the bedroom? The garage? Decisions, decisions! Sometimes you have to rearrange the house a few times to figure out the perfect place. One thing that is extra stressful for domestic engineers is trying to keep the kids quiet and happy when their spouse is in a meeting or on a work call. Let’s face it, kids are loud. There are times when it doesn’t matter how many strategies you use to prep the kids… they’re just going to yell, scream, laugh, or play tag in the living room. Kids are still kids. Try not to get too frustrated when you don’t get that quiet outcome you were hoping for. Give yourself grace Mama. Preplanning activities like legos, magnatiles, baking, or crafting can help keep your kids quiet for a little while. If all else fails, take on the Scrunchie Mom attitude, and give your kids an iPad, crackers, and an organic juice box. You’re doing a great job Mom!

“The best you can do is be there for your children, appreciate the time you get with them, and take moments to soak in the scene around you.” In this Mother Funny episode, Andie and Angie once again chat about back to school. Plus there are some great stories, words of wisdom, and of course laughter. Angie just sent her son to preschool so she can’t even imagine leaving him at the airport with his bags packed and college dreams ahead. Andie’s sent her three kids off to college, at three different colleges, in three different states. Somehow she managed to say goodbye and give one last hug. At one college send off they had fireworks, wine and cheese, and a candle lighting ceremony to celebrate their kids beginning their college journey. Yes, it can be a scary time for moms, but it’s also an exciting time for kids. College is a time for your kids to build their own community and be independent. Sure, there will be times when you don’t know where your kids are at, or what time they’ll be back at the dorm. But that’s when you need to trust that what you’ve done has been a foundation for them to make good choices. Back to School: Preschool Edition - Part 1
“If you don’t have a Yeti or a Stanley, we still see you. Stay strong.” In this Mother Funny episode Andie and Angie talk (and laugh) about the positive side of back to school. For starters, moms get time to themselves while their kids are safe and happy at school. They can actually take time to drink their coffee without being interrupted. For homeschool moms, they don’t get a long break during the day, but thankfully their school day is shorter so their afternoons can be filled with fun! It seems that all kids drop their pencils, fall off of their chairs, and ask a ton of questions. Why is that? Andie has a great paperclip trick to help manage all of the non-related school questions. It’s genius! Andie and Angie also dive into the exciting preschool world filled with field trips, colors, and numbers! And yes, both kids and moms can struggle with separation anxiety… but that’s okay. Andie and Angie completely understand. Now brace yourself for the Yeti vs. Stanley showdown – complete with epic stories, laughs, and a dash of friendly (or cousin) rivalry. Who knew discussing water bottles could be this entertaining? So, grab your favorite water bottle or coffee mug, turn up the volume, and get ready to laugh, as you embrace the wild, wonderful world of motherhood with Andie and Angie.

Back to School - Part 2
“I literally thought my (kindergarten) teacher was a witch!” Andie and Angie are continuing their conversation on back to school! Juggling schedules, drop off, pick up, and everything in between can definitely be chaotic. Back to school brings stress. Andie hilariously points out that Angie is an expert on back to school stress. Let’s face it, the morning routine can be stressful for kids and moms. Okay, well just getting kids out of summer mode and back on a schedule can be chaotic and stressful for everyone. Plus, moms worry about so many things at the beginning of the school year: how their kids will perform academically, if their kids will be able to keep up with their homework, and/or if their child has made new friends or reconnected with old friends. The list goes on and on. So whether you’re cheering or tearing up, just know you’re not alone. Andie brings comic relief when she recaps her very first day of kindergarten. At one point Angie laughs so hard she can’t breathe. Somehow Andie turns her traumatic experience into a hilarious story that you don’t want to miss. As Andie says, “What I’m explaining is childhood trauma in the wild west for us latchkey kids.” So for all of you with kids in kindergarten (or really any grade), know that if Andie survived having a kindergarten teacher that was a witch, your kids will survive the school year. They might even get an A in calculus one day! It all will work out. You're doing just fine!

Back to School - Part 1
“You can’t always put things in balance. Life is crazy and you have the tools to get through it.” Kids are headed back to school. It’s a mix of cheers and tears as moms send their precious kids off to conquer the school year. Angie is really bummed that summer is over since she loves having her kids with her all day. Of course, Andie has to point out that Angie has the heart of a homeschool mom. Angie jokes that she can hear her mom saying, “I told you so!” It’s hilarious! The thing is, homeschool moms have a lot to prepare before the school year even begins. Their focused on planning the curriculum, figuring out lesson plans, and buying the essential school supplies. Angie loves that their district has school supply packs moms can order for their kids. The packs are delivered directly to the school without any hassle or stress at all. Whether your kids go to public school or charter school, Meet the Teacher is usually an exciting time for kids. The main question is- how are your kids going to get to school? The stress of figuring out carpools, drop off, pick up, or kids riding the bus or walking home can be stressful for moms to figure out. Andie and Angie want you to know that they understand. It’s a lot for a mom to plan- trying to make sure your kids are safe and taken care of, but also where they need to be. In all of the craziness make sure you take care of your mental health. So take a deep breath, and remember you’ve got this! Andie and Angie are cheering you on!

So if they're rocking an outfit, it can be a boost to their uniqueness! Just be on the lookout if your tween or teen starts dressing in black every day. Children’s Fashion - Part 1
“Now even the water bottle is part of fashion.” Many moms are talking about fashion right now since kids are headed back to school. It's a whole new world out there from backpacks to water bottles. Stanley’s are all the rage now, but a few years ago all the kids wanted Hydroflasks. Remember back in the day when kids didn’t even take water bottles to school? How did Gen Xrs make it through? Or what about Jansport backpacks? At one point it seemed like everyone had the same style Jansport. Everything has been taken up a notch, and it’s not cheap. Andie and Angie talk about how much freedom they give their kids when they choose their outfits. Sure, kids can express themselves through their personal style. But they might need a few guidelines to help. Fashion freedom can be part of development, and help children build independence. There is quite a contrast since Angie’s kids always have their hair done, whereas Andie’s girls wore their hair down most of the time. Fashion is a journey - a phase that brings color, joy, and a few unforgettable style moments. So, if your little one has a style that's "unique" rest assured they'll grow out of it. Embrace your child’s very distinct style choices and celebrate their creativity! Fashion is exciting and fun!

Mother Funny Fashion - Part 1
The Barbie Movie inspired this podcast. Yes, that movie can be controversial, but Andie and Angie have to talk about it. The fashion in the Barbie Movie is truly amazing and extravagant! Fashion affects every mom because you don’t stay in your pajamas all day, every day. At some point, you need to get dressed for the day and head to the grocery store or school to pick up your kids. There’s a difference in the way moms used to dress before they had kids. Bodies change, schedules change, budgets change, and that usually means a mom's style changes. Angie is so on trend she wore a shirt she bought at a gas station while recording this episode about fashion. Since Angie considers motherhood a sport, she wears athletic clothes 100 percent of the time. Meanwhile, Andie is the perfect blend of comfort, current trends, and cuteness! That’s right, she even wears jeans! Andie is extremely brave and buys bathing suits from Amazon! Now that takes courage! Andie tells a hilarious story about a time her flight got canceled leaving her without luggage since she had already checked it. Well, Andie went into Walmart and bought one of the coolest outfits ever. Did you know Walmart sells pleather pants? Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all when it comes to fashion.
Mom Shame - Part 2
In this episode, Andie and Angie continue talking about mom shame. Moms get shamed for a variety of things, including the gender of their kids (shout out to all the boy moms and girl moms out there), whether they had an epidural or c-section, and even their kids' screen time. Sometimes, the best way to handle mom shaming is with a little bit of awkwardness and a whole lot of humor. A funny comeback can magically turn a harsh situation into a positive and uplifting one. Andie and Angie introduce the "Shopping Cart Game" as a tool to distinguish between judging moms and genuinely helping them. But before jumping to conclusions, it's important to fully understand what a mom is going through. Is there a way you can support your friend instead of tearing them down? And if you find yourself needing to address something with a friend, remember to approach it with love, kindness, and a generous side of humility. Here's an encouraging reminder from Andie and Angie: surround yourself with an amazing mom tribe filled with fabulous cheerleaders who will always be there to lift you up, celebrate your victories, and cheer you on through the rollercoaster ride of motherhood.

Mom Shame - Part 1
“Judgy mom’s judging mom’s.” In this episode, Andie and Angie explore the world of mom shaming. To keep things lighthearted and fun, they play the Shame Game! Let’s face it, people can shame moms over some ridiculous things. Moms deal with a whirlwind of eye rolls and harsh comments about a variety of kid related topics. These include sleep schedules and pacifiers, the never-ending bottle versus breastfeeding debate, and what your child ate for dinner. Angie tells about a time a mom judged her for the sunscreen she used. Who knew Banana Boat could be so controversial? Andie explains that she had an aha moment years ago when she realized it wasn’t her job to worry about how other people parent their kids. She goes on to explain that humility is the opposite of mom shaming. This episode is encouraging, funny, and relatable. Even though mom shaming can be difficult, Andie and Angie want to encourage you through the challenging times.

Anxiety Happens - Part 2
“Stress happens. Anxiety happens.” In this episode, Andie and Angie talk about Mom Anxiety (or what they call Momxiety)! There are three types of Mom Anxiety. Some of the things that can cause Mom Anxiety include hormonal changes, lack of sleep, fear for your child's safety, and financial stress. Remember that life is life. Part of being a mom is worrying, but when the worry becomes excessive, starts to affect your mood, and/or gets in the way of your everyday life, then that’s when worry has crossed the line and becomes anxiety. Angie talks about a time she had to be hyperaware when her daughter had health issues. Going for long walks helped her deal with the stress of the situation. Andie and Angie discuss other strategies to help with anxiety including journaling, positive self-talk, deep breathing, coloring, and of course watching Bob Ross. Sometimes being aware of the stress, and how you’re feeling, can help you cope with anxiety. At the end of the episode Andie and Angie laugh hysterically as Angie explains how she tried to make her compression socks look super cool when she was pregnant. Make sure you check out Instagram so you can watch Andie demonstrate how to do the tapping technique. This episode is fun, relatable, and filled with insightful info!

Anxiety - Part 1
How does anxiety affect your everyday life? Does anxiety impact your parenting? In this episode, Andie and Angie laugh and tell funny stories about how anxiety has affected them over the years. Let’s face it, anxiety and stress are part of the motherhood journey. There is so much to worry about when you’re a mom. Moms have a hyperawareness of how unsafe things can be. Plus, the more stories you hear can make you feel anxious about situations that rarely even happen. Anxiety can be a way to keep us safe and protected, but it can also cause us to think or do some random things. Andie shares a hilarious story about a time she panicked on an airplane, and randomly pulled another passenger's hair. She also mentions a time she started throwing luggage at the airport. Andie talks about how anxiety affected her parenting since she found herself parenting like a security guard- always ready for the worst case scenario. This episode is hilarious and relatable. Just know that when it comes to anxiety, you’re not alone.

Self-Care - Part 2
“A lot of parenting is hiding the junk that you’re eating.” In this episode, Andie and Angie continue their conversation about self-care. How do you feel when you buy a new cookbook? Is that at the top of your self-care list? Don't worry, it's definitely not at the top of Angie's list either. In this episode, Andie and Angie discuss a list of self-care ideas including working out, meeting up with a friend, getting a pedicure, and starting a new Bible plan (shoutout Through the Word). Sometimes self-care can be as simple as drinking a cup of coffee while shopping, or watching Bob Ross (Andie's fav). When Angie was pregnant, eating KFC a few times a week was exactly what she needed to feel better! Make sure to listen to the outtakes at the end because Andie and Angie laugh hysterically as they come up with their new secret code word.

Self-Care - Part 1
As they say, “If you’re a mess, everybody pays.” Have you ever rushed out the door only to realize your kid isn’t wearing any shoes? Or maybe you’ve rocked an entire workout at the gym with your leggings inside out. And that’s when you know you need a little self-care. In this episode, Andie and Angie talk about how self-care is taking care of your mental, emotional, and physical health, as well as finding that overall sense of well-being. All you need to do is figure out what brings you joy, peace, and a sense of rejuvenation. The beauty of self-care is that it evolves and changes throughout your parenting journey. Here’s the key - self-care needs to be intentional. Sometimes, you just need a well-deserved nap, a good book, a leisurely walk, or even some mindless scrolling on social media. There might be times in your very busy life when it’s better to show up five minutes late and calm, rather than on time and completely frazzled. Take a moment for yourself and embrace the chaos. You’ve got this mama!

Chore charts and positive reinforcement can be great tools to help kids join in the cleaning process. Andie and Angie talk about the motivation behind having a clean home - creating a safe and comfortable space for their families to make memories in. School Options - Part 2
“We’re gonna handle this playground style!” In this episode Andie and Angie talk about kids going to public school or private school. They have very interesting perspectives since Andie went to public school as a child, but her kids have gone to charter school, public school and been homeschooled. Angie on the other hand was homeschooled, but chose to put her girls in public school. Andie and Angie laugh as they talk about the pros and cons of kids going to school outside the home. They also discuss the saying, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” What do you think about that saying? How has that saying impacted how you parent? Andie and Angie talk about trying to get kids to school on time. Getting kids out of the door in the morning can be stressful, eventful, rushed or even a little embarrassing if the van door doesn’t work. When kids attend public school or private school they need to figure out how to handle certain social situations on their own. Stay tuned for Angie’s story about Uncle Garfunkle’s self-defense class and the playground nut-kicker! What do you do when your daughter tells you how she got in trouble and the whole family can’t stop laughing?!?!

School Options - Part 1
How do you decide what school option is best for your child? So many options, which to choose?! In this episode Andie & Angie discuss the pros and cons of homeschool and charter homeschool options. Angie was an OG homeschool kid who became a public school mom, and Andie was a public school kid who became a homeschool mom… then charter homeschool mom… then public school mom. It’s a long story. And all that experience makes for a great episode with lots of laughs! Homeschool has changed over the years, and apparently there’s also a little bit of a rivalry between homeschool and charter schools. Andie and Angie talk pros and cons share stories, and make it very clear that one school option is not inherently better than another. Parents need to make the decision that’s best for each child. Then there’s the Bumper Jumper game they created at the CHEA convention. Oh, and it’s okay if you’re currently wearing a Bumper Jumper since styles from the 90s are coming back…even low rise jeans (which Angie is excited about but Andie has a very different opinion). Whatever schooling option you chose, join us for this very funny and authentic episode.

Helping Kids Navigate Friendships - Part 2
“Friendship is Spanx for your soul!” In this episode Andie and Angie dive deeper into friendships! When kids are learning how to navigate friendships there can be some difficult situations that occur including bullying, drama, conflict and isolation. How can moms support their kids when their kids are going through a difficult time with a friend? In this episode Andie and Angie discuss bad advice they were given as kids that moms are finally rejecting. Think of this more as a PSA because there is a good chance you were given this same bad advice when you were growing up. Andie and Angie also discuss bullying. Yes, that’s a hot topic right now and it’s great that most moms are taking bullying so seriously. What should moms do if their kid is being bullied at school and the school won’t do anything about it? Andie tells a mama bear story that occurred after her son was bullied. Andie and Angie also talk about some of the positive things kids can learn from their friendships such as kindness, humility, consideration, love and respect. That being said, it is important for kids to understand that kindness and humility do not equal weakness.

Helping Kids Navigate Friendships - Part 1
In this episode Andie and Angie talk about friendships, friendships, friendships! They discuss how important it is for kids to have friends since friendships impact a child’s life, development, attitude and behavior. Since friendships affect children in so many ways, how involved should moms be when it comes to helping their kids choose friends? Andie and Angie talk about the bad advice that either they were given, or their parents were given. Should kids only be friends with people who share their same values or beliefs? Andie explains that socializing her kids when they were growing up was a huge priority. After they moved back to California, Andie even created a group to help her kids make new friends and then maintain those friendships as they got older. Clearly there’s a line between moms helping their kids navigate friendships in a healthy way versus trying to control who their kids spend time with. Unfortunately, some of the negative consequences of trying to control a child’s friendships include low self-esteem, dishonesty and anxiety. Andie and Angie end the episode by discussing the difference between a group of friends and a clique.

Mother Funny Tribe - Part 2
Okay, in the previous episode Andie and Angie might have said the word important a few too many times. To make up for it, they create a fun game that will have you laughing and possibly help you feel a little more energized and ready to take on the day. Being a mom, and juggling schedules takes up most of the day. It’s hard to find time to reconnect with a friend you haven’t seen in a while, or stop to make a new friend. Where do moms even meet other moms? How are moms supposed to have a conversation on the phone when their kids are yelling in the background? Andie and Angie tackle all of this and more, while also acknowledging that it takes courage to make new friends. You can’t just walk up to a mom you don’t know and offer her a sealed Pop-Tart. Or can you? At the end of the episode Andie asks Angie a question that leaves her speechless and she doesn’t quite know how to answer it.
