But, I think in order to answer that question we need to clarify something: What is your ambition? Why is that your ambition?

Our culture is obsessed with Fame, but we're famous in the eyes of God when those who know us best respect us most.

We conclude our series on faith. An unshakeable faith is only found in the arms of an unshakeable King! Sometimes God shakes the things we hold onto so we cling tightly to the only secure thing: Him!

From the Peter walking on the waves, we explore the ways to tell the difference between faith and foolishness.

In Matthew 8, Jesus encounters a centurion with faith that amazes Him. By believing without having to see the results, we too can have a faith that amazes God.

Sometimes God asks us to do something we don't want to do so we try to run away and we end up running from a God who is with us and for us, who is the source of every good gift in our lives!

What would our lives be like if we lived in the holy confidence that God was with us and for us? What if every obstacle we encounter, we remembered that a good God had led us here not to defeat us, but to reveal his power through us to the world? What if we lived like conquerors instead of living like the conquered? I think it would change everything!

Sometimes our step of faith drops us into a deadend between two bad options, but God shows up and shows off in the places that seem hopeless.

Sometimes we miss what God wants to do, because we give up before God shows up. Our faith needs some faithfulness.

Sometimes it seems like our step of faith is dead in the water, our God sized dream is past its expiration date and then God steps in. Somewhere we’ve decided how long things should take and if they don’t happen in our expected window we give up on them. Experts or the majority tell us that is how things work, but God rarely works in the window of availability we expect him to.

The Bible is written from a Middle Eastern Jewish perspective. It naturally challenges our Western American perspective. When we twist the Bible to fit our western perspective we miss out on the Bible’s power to challenge mistaken Western presuppositions about life, love, purpose and family.

The Bible is the record of two promises God made to mankind.

Some people think fasting will bump their prayer up in line and get God’s attention faster. Fasting doesn’t win us God’s favor. He looks at us as being His children in good relationship with Him because of Jesus — not because of our good deeds or sacrifices. Fasting changes US not how He LOOKS at us.

Sometimes, we worry that God will send us something BAD because of what we asked for in haste or we won’t get something GOOD because we didn’t form our request the right way. God responds to every prayer with LOGIC + LOVE. He knows what will be best and what we need. He’s not a cosmic vending machine that we have to worry about spitting out the wrong thing because we hit the wrong button. He’s a living Person who understands more about what we ask for and need than even we do!

Sometimes we use prayer as an excuse to keep from doing something we don't want to do. Prayer should empower our action, not replace it. If someone needs a friend, don't pray for them to have one, be one!

The best spiritual indicator of your spiritual maturity is not your theological knowledge or your devoted service to the church. It’s your prayer life. We’ve been told that prayer is making God do what we want. If we can get the wording right or the combination right, we can have access to the biggest genie in the universe. That’s not the purpose of prayer. Prayer is not us wrestling God into giving us what we want, but us conforming to what Jesus would want. Prayer is encountering God and coming away wanting what he wants for our world and inviting God to use us to do it.
