About Whitestar
Inspired by the counter culture of the late 80's Tory Britain, from smoke filled grimy pubs with run down toilets through the blissed out drug fuelled 90's, into the clubs, ears bleeding, broken relationships, from rundown bedsits, rented properties to impromptu weekend parties, Whitestar finally opened its mouth, screaming from the rooftops in late 2003. Inspired Whitestar wanted to make music that told stories of where they came from, they embraced a songwriting tradition that tells narrative stories from a first person perspective aimed at drawing the audience into a personal world and take them on tragic or exultant journeys. Having honed their sound things finally started happening. The music they had heard in their heads was now becoming a reality. With raw undertones of Joy Division and The Cure they were also creating music that was uniquely their's, Haunting vocals and melodies, dynamic drumming, thudding basslines and soaring keyboards. Quickly gaining a following, the band played numerous gigs all over London to perfect their sound. This last year the band have played packed out gigs to a regular army of fans, including Guilfest, Glastonbury left field gig, A slot at Bestival, isle of wight as well as playing Beautiful days in devon. This year they play The Brighton Great Escape festival! Whitestar are: Simon Mitchell Vocals/Guitar, Michelle Mitchell BassSara Bowery Keyboards, Matt Donovan Drums.
