Title
Okay
Okay is a song for the hustler and the go getter. It came out of a place in my life where I was on down on my luck and wanted very badly to give up. I had a choice to let laziness and apathy take me over or to put ten toes down and grind all the harder. The central message of the song is revealed in the lyric, “only hard work make you pass talent”, which is to say nothing beats determination, vision and purpose mixed with a little patience and luck.
Yellow
Yellow is a story told from the perspective of a young man who loses a summer crush. The man’s crush is insecure with some aspects of her body and her life due to the bad experiences she’s had with men in her past. Although not fully realized, the young man reflects on their relationship as something special and holds to the memory of her and their connection by recalling her favorite color, the color yellow. Yellow is significant in this story because of the two sides it represents; happiness, positivity, energy, optimism and loyalty, on the bright side and cowardice, anxiety, deceit and jealousy on the dull side. The song is a dialogue as well as an ode to the bittersweet nuance of finding and losing love and the elements that linger behind after the flame has burned out.
