About Oxycope
Techno producer, scientist, inventor and rocket constructor. Oxycope’s multifacted background is reflected in his music, which spans from dystopian soundscapes to hard-hitting and groovy minimal technoOxycope has had a long-standing interest in the fundamental and scientific principles that governs human response to music, and he has devised a set of three rules that he uses when composing. The first rule is that the music needs to have a time-stopping effect, that is, the music needs to manifest the feeling of a continuous “now” in its listeners. The second rule is that the music must have modality. Modality is best explained by the phenomenon where the music does not force a particular mood on its listeners. The listeners are enabled through careful sound selection to construct their own meanings, mental images and associations from the music. The music should connect with the subconscious. The third rule is simply that the music must have groove, it has to connect with your body as well as your mind to create a complete experience.Oxycope draws his musical inspiration from a wide range of sources such as the early Detroit techno pioneers, from predecessors such as Kraftwerk, YMO and Steve Reich, to more recent Berlin-style techno as represented by Ben Klock and Nina Kraviz.
