About Karate Free Stylers
A four piece from Olsztyn, Poland, these guys play some aggressively well crafted shoegaze. There’s lots of potential in this record as it contains some pretty fine tuned songs if you ask me. My personal favorites are “Beyond Railways” and the title track, both of which are crunching and pulsating if to put it in words. Vocalist sure has one memorable vox and to be honest I wished he’d sing more on this record because he’s really good. Musicianship is great all around. There are hints of alternative, indie lo-fi, ambient noises and sound clips, even a touch of post-punk attitude shimmering throughout this 7 track ep and they worked it out really well to harmonized it into one sonic sound scape. The songs are short but to the point, they came and did their thing pretty nicely. If you like your shoegaze to have a bit of an edge to it, be sure to check these guys out. You can stream the whole ep at their official Band Camp page, links are below and be sure to hit their Facebook and blog as well to support them. I thoroughly enjoyed it and surprisingly enough, even though they named some of their influences on their FB page, they sounded like no one I could think of right now to compare with, which is a huge plus. I am looking forward to see this band grows. Karate Free Stylers are here to bring us that raw and hypnotic side of shoegaze that we all grow to love so much.
