A diverse, accessible and community-focused radio station, curating a unique selection of music, also providing a platform for a range of socially, politically & comedic talk-based content. Run by some of the team previously behind the London-based DIY station 199radio, Threads is based at The Cause in Tottenham, a music venue which has made a huge impact since its launch in 2018. Tottenham itself has been subject to considerable social and political change in recent years. Whilst some of this change is undeniably contentious, music and the arts are thriving. Threads intends to be at the forefront of this exciting cultural activity, whilst engaging with the difficult issues facing the area. The station will actively engage with the community, providing a credible broadcast platform for local people to have airspace for their unique narratives. The station also features a second stream, Threads*, which will play host to a sister studio situated in ZK/U Berlin, alongside an array of content from across the world. As with the Tottenham arm, Threads* will actively engage and participate in the issues facing the communities it streams from. It will identify international collaborations by the specific district of its contributors, rather than the city, for example Threads*Haira (a district in Lanzarote) or Threads*Vinohrady (a district in Prague). A global station with a local focus.
