When I'm Older
All is Found,Into the Unknown。 What was that? Samantha? This will all make sense when I am olderSomeday I will see that this makes senseOne day when I'm old and wiseI'll think back and realizeThat these were all completely normal eventsAh!I'll have all the answers when I'm olderLike why we're in this dark enchanted woodI know in a couple yearsThese will seems like childish fearsAnd so I know this isn't bad, it's goodExcuse me.Growing up means adaptingPuzzling at your world and your placeWhen I'm more matureI'll feel totally secureBeing watched by somethingWith a creepy, creepy faceAhhhhh! Ahhhhh!See, that will all make sense when I am olderSo there's no need to be terrified or tenseI'll just dream about a timeWhen I'm in my age of prime'Cause when you're olderAbsolutely everything makes senseThis is fine.

我和Emma就来教大家唱这首All is Found。 Where the north wind meets the seaThere's a river full of memorySleep, my darling, safe and soundFor in this river all is foundIn her waters, deep and trueLie the answers and a path for youDive down deep into her soundBut not too far or you'll be drownedYes, she will sing to those who'll hearAnd in her song, all magic flowsBut can you brave what you most fear? Can you face what the river knows?Where the north wind meets the seaThere's a mother full of memoryCome, my darling, homeward boundWhen all is lost, then all is found

Let It Go!
Let It GoThe snow glows white on the mountain tonight Not a footprint to be seen A kingdom of isolation, And it looks like I'm the queen The wind is howling like the swirling storm inside Couldn't keep it in, heaven knows I tried Don't let them in, don’t let them see Be the good girl you always have to be Conceal, don't feel, don’t let them know Well, now they know Let it go, let it go Can't hold it back any more Let it go, let it go Turn away and slam the door I don't care what they're going to say Let the storm rage on, The cold never bothered me anyway It's funny how some distance Makes everything seem small And the fears that once controlled me Can't get to me at all It's time to see what I can do To test the limits and break through No right, no wrong, no rules for meI am freeLet it go, let it go I am one with the wind and sky Let it go, let it go You'll never see me cry Here I stand and here I'll stay Let the storm rage on My power flurries through the air into the ground My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast I'm never going back the past is in the past Let it go, let it go And I'll rise like the break of dawn Let it go, let it go That perfect girl is gone Here I stand in the light of day Let the storm rage on The cold never bothered me anyway

Oh, oh, oh, oh, ohOh, oh, oh, oh, ohOh, oh, oh, oh, ohOh, oh, oh, oh, ohI messed up tonight, I lost another fightI still mess up but I'll just start againI keep falling down, I keep on hitting the groundI always get up now to see what's nextBirds don't just fly, they fall down and get upNobody learns without getting it wrongI won't give up, no I won't give in'Til I reach the end and then I'll start againNo, I won't leave, I wanna try everythingI wanna try even though I could failOh, oh, oh, oh, ohTry everythingOh, oh, oh, oh, ohTry everythingOh, oh, oh, oh, ohTry everythingOh, oh, oh, oh, oh

And then I'll take your temperature. 2. That's definitely a fever.-Do I have to go to a doctor?-Not for now. But if you don't get better in a few days, maybe we'll have to go.-But I don't want to see a doctor!-It's OK, honey. The doctor will only give you a checkup, and maybe give you some medicine.-Will he give me a shot?-Probably not. Anyway, don't worry about it just yet. Take a good rest, and you'll get better without seeing a doctor. 3. I...-Oh, not again! You're getting sick. I always tell you to keep yourself warm. Where's your jacket? Always wear your jacket. You'll get sick if you don't wear warm enough.-But I just want some water. My throat hurts because I'm thirsty.-Then why didn't you have enough water? I always tell you to have lots of water. If you have enough water, you won't get sick that easily. -Ehhhh, I'm not sick.

Today The Teacher Farted
Today the Teacher Farted——by Emma BriodyToday the teacher farted. It was an awful smell. It was just like a rotting egg,Straight from the depths of hell! She tried to keep it secretBy sitting in a group. But it was really obvious,When she said, "Who did that poop?" She screwed her bright, red face upAnd blamed it all on Claire. But later when I needed help,The stench was round her chair! She avoided my eye contactAnd ticked my work in green.(国外老师改作业可以用绿笔的)But she knew that her body smellsWere foul and quite obscene. I asked her what that smell was.She said she'd not a clue.I hope to God that eggy smellWas fart and not a poo! Today the teacher farted. My word, what had she ate?I'll always remember what she did,And now I'm thirty-eight! 比如:He smells. 也可以说He stinks.stench,恶臭,如:The stench is unbearable. foul,气味恶心的,如:foul breath. foul,也可以指腐烂的,如foul meat。

The True Story of the Three Little Pigs
The True Story of the Three Little PigsEverybody knows the story of The Three Little Pigs.At least they think they do.I'll let you in a little secret.Nobody knows the real story, because nobody has ever heard my side of the story.I'm the wolf. Alexander T. Wolf. You can call me AL.I don't know how this whole Big Bad Wolf thing got started, but it's all wrong.Maybe it's because of our diet.Hey, it's not my fault wolves eat cute little animals like bunnies and sheep and pigs. That's just the way we are.If cheeseburgers were cute, folks would probably think you were Big and Bad, too.But like I was saying, the whole Big Bad Wolf is wrong. The real story is about a sneeze and a cup of sugar.THIS IS THE REAL STORY.Way back in Once Upon a Time time, I was making a birthday cake for my dear old granny.I had a terrible sneezing cold.I ran out of sugar. So I walked down the street to ask my neighbor for a cup of sugar. Now this neighbor was a pig. And he wasn't too bright either. He had built his whole house out of straw. Can you believe it? I mean who in his right mind would build a house of straw? So of course the minute I knocked on the door, it fell right in. I didn't want to just walk into someone else's house. So I called, "Little Pig, Little Pig, are you in?" No answer. I was just about to go home without the cup of sugar for my dear old granny's birthday cake. That's when my nose started to itch. I felt a sneeze coming on. Well I huffed. And I snuffed. And I sneezed a great sneeze. And you know what? The whole darn straw house fell down. And right in the middle of the pile of straw was the First Little Pig - dead as a doornail. He had been home the whole time. It seemed like a shame to leave a perfectly good ham dinner lying there in the straw. So I ate it up. Think of it as a cheeseburger just lying there. I was feeling a little better. But I still didn't have my cup of sugar . So I went to the next neighbor's house. The guy who lived there was the First Little Pig's brother. He was a little smarter, but not much. He has built his house of sticks. I rang the bell on the stick house. Nobody answered. I called, "Mr. Pig, Mr. Pig, are you in?" He yelled back: "Go away wolf. You can't come in. I'm shaving the hairs on my chinny chin chin."I had just grabbed the doorknob when I felt another sneeze coming on. I huffed. And I snuffed. And I tried to cover my mouth, but I sneezed a great sneeze. And you are not going to believe this, but this guy's house fell down just like his brother's. When the dust cleared, there was the Second Little Pig - dead as a doornail. Wolf's honor. Now you know food will spoil if you just leave it out in the open. So I did the only thing there was to do. I had dinner again. Think of it as a second helping. I was getting awfully full. But my cold was feeling a little better. And I still didn't have that cup of sugar for my dear old granny's birthday cake. So I went to the next house. This guy was the First and Second Little Pig's brother. He must have been the brains of the family. He had built his house of bricks. I knocked on the brick house. No answer. I called, "Mr Pig, Mr. Pig, are you in?" And do you know what that rude little pig answered? "Get out of here, Wolf. Don't bother me again."Talk about impolite! He probably had a whole sackful of sugar. And he wouldn't give me even one little cup for my dear sweet old granny's birthday cake. What a pig! I was just about to go home and maybe make a nice birthday card instead of a cake, when I felt my cold coming on. I huffed. And I snuffed. And I sneezed once again. Then the Third Little Pig yelled: "And your old granny can sit on a pin!" Now I'm usually a pretty calm fellow. But when somebody talks about my granny like that, I go a Little crazy. When the cops drove up, of course I was trying to break down this Pig's door. And the whole time I was huffing and puffing and sneezing and making a real scene. The rest as they say is history. The news reporters found out about the two pigs I had for dinner. They figured a sick guy going to borrow a cup of sugar didn't sound very exciting."Huff and puff and blow your house down."And they made me the Big Bad Wolf. That's it. The real story. I was framed. But maybe you could loan me a cup of sugar?

Moore'Twas the night before Christmas, when allthrough the houseNot a creature was stirring, not even amouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney withcare,In hopes that St Nicholas soon would bethere. The children were nestled all snug in theirbeds,While visions of sugar-plums danced intheir heads. And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in mycap,Had just settled our brains for a longwinter’s nap. When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,I sprang from the bed to see what was thematter.Away to the window I flew like a flash,Tore open the shutters and threw up thesash. The moon on the breast of the new-fallensnowGave the lustre of mid-day to objectsbelow. When, what to my wondering eyes shouldappear,But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinyreindeer. With a little old driver, so lively andquick,I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.More rapid than eagles his coursers theycame,And he whistled, and shouted, and calledthem by name! 雪橇比神鹰更迅疾,圣诞老人吹着口哨,还要把每只驯鹿的名字叫: "Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancerand Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner andBlitzen! To the top of the porch! to the top of thewall! Now dash away! Dash away! Dash awayall!"“快!飞毛腿!快!舞蹈家!快!跳跃者和雌狐!来!彗星!来!丘比特!来!雷和闪电!飞过廊顶,跃过墙头,快快向前,向前,一起向前!” As dry leaves that before the wildhurricane fly,When they meet with an obstacle, mount tothe sky.So up to the house-top the coursers theyflew,With the sleigh full of Toys, and StNicholas too. And then, in a twinkling, I heard on theroofThe prancing and pawing of each littlehoof. As I drew in my head, and was turningaround,Down the chimney St Nicholas came with abound. He was dressed all in fur, from his head tohis foot,And his clothes were all tarnished withashes and soot.A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,And he looked like a peddler, just openinghis pack. His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples howmerry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like acherry! His droll little mouth was drawn up like abow,And the beard of his chin was as white asthe snow. The stump of a pipe he held tight in histeeth,And the smoke it encircled his head like awreath. He had a broad face and a little roundbelly,That shook when he laughed, like a bowlfulof jelly! He was chubby and plump, a right jolly oldelf,And I laughed when I saw him, in spite ofmyself!A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,Soon gave me to know I had nothing todread. He spoke not a word, but went straight tohis work,And filled all the stockings, then turnedwith a jerk. And laying his finger aside of his nose,And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose! He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave awhistle,And away they all flew like the down of athistle. But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove outof sight,"Happy Christmas to all, and to all agood-night!"

Funny Fishy, Feet
Xiaohua: Emma, you have something to share with us, right?Emma: I'm going to ask you guys a question. Xiaohua: OK. What question?Emma: Why won't sharks eat clownfish?Xiaohua: Why won't sharks eat clownfish? Oh, I know, it's because the clownfish is too ugly. Emma: No. The clownfish tastes funny!Xiaohua: Hahaha, I got it! Because it's a CLOWN-fish, so it's funny! And when something tastes funny, it means...Emma: they don't taste right.Xiaohua: 对,something tastes funny的意思就是味道好怪啊,好恶心,是yucky的funny, not good funny, but bad funny. So the shark wouldn't eat the clownfish because it tastes funny. And that leads me to my 知识点 of the day: the word funny means funny,可笑的,but it can also mean tasting bad. Let's make sentences. Emma: Pumpkins sometimes tastes funny.Xiaohua: No! Pumpkins tastes great!Emma: Well, only when they're pumpkin soup. ......Xiaohua: Oh, I have a sentence that's pumpkin-related, too. Jack-O-Lanterns look funny. But pumpkins sometimes tastes funny. It tastes like feet!Emma: What? You smell like feet!Xiaohua: When something tastes like feet, it's really, really a yucky smell. Emma: Carrots taste like feet. I hate carrots!Xiaohua: No! taste like feet的东西也是有特别funny、怪异的味道。I think 折耳根 tastes like fish.......Emma: I have another one: Poop tastes worse than feet!......Xiaohua: So,我们说了funny, which can mean both 可笑的,hilarious, and难闻的,难吃的。 Emma: You look fishy! Something looks fishy...Emma: that means it involves a lot of fish!Xiaohua: No! Something is suspicious. Something does not feel right. Emma: With the fish. Of course fish tastes fishy, but sometimes other things that have gone bad...Emma: Carrots taste fishy!Xiaohua: No, carrots don't taste fishy. Emma: Well, you look fishy. Xiaohua: No! For example, a classmate of yours, who is usually very bad to you, and very mean, suddenly treats you very, very nicely, and wants you to have a snack, or an eraser of hers. And so you would think: This is fishy. Maybe she wants something from me. Maybe she wants to copy my homework. This is fishy. Emma: No, I would think: maybe she wants to poison me. Fishy, fishy.Xiaohua: No. It's that bad. Xiaohua: Not feety, but tastes like feet. Emma: You smell like feet. Xiaohua: You smell like fish. Emma: You smell like feet.Xiaohua: You smell funny.Emma: You smell like poop!Xiaohua: You smell like fishy poop!Emma: You smell like feety, fishy, funny poop!Xiaohua: I strongly disagree! And so that's all for today, good-bye! ...

Be Glad Your Nose Is on Your Face
Be glad your nose is on your face, not pasted on some other place, for if it were where it is not,you might dislike your nose a lot.Imagine if your precious nosewere sandwiched in between your toes, that clearly would not be a treat, for you'd be forced to smell your feet.Your nose would be a source of dreadwere it attached atop your head,it soon would drive you to despair, forever tickled by your hair.Within your ear, your nose would bean absolute catastrophe, for when you were obliged to sneeze, your brain would rattle from the breeze.Your nose, instead, through thick and thin, remains between your eyes and chin, not pasted on some other place--be glad your nose is on your face!

Rain
RainI opened my eyesAnd looked up at the rain,And it dripped in my headAnd flowed into my brain,And all that I hear as I lie in my bedIs the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.I step very softly,I walk very slow,I can't do a handstand-I might overflow,So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said-I'm just not the same since there's rain in my head.
Poor stupid bird! 曲调上借用了《Farmer In the Dell》这首儿歌。 The Turkey Ran AwayThe turkey ran away, the turkey ran away, out from a farm on a Thanksgiving day."You can't eat me, you can't eat me,You'll have to find yourself another recipe." The pie ran away, the pie ran away, out from an oven on a Thanksgiving day."You can't eat me, you can't eat me,You'll have to find yourself another recipe." 儿歌-I'm A Little Teapot
I'm a Little TeapotI'm a little teapot, short and stout. Here is my handle, here is my spout. When I get all steamed up, hear me shout,Tip me over and pour me out!I'm a clever teapot, yes it's true. Here's an example of what I can do.I can turn my handle to my spout,Tip me over and pour me out!
I have a friend who is a giant,And he lives where the tall weeds grow. He’s high as a mountain and wide as a barn,And I only come up to his toe, you know,up to his toe. When the daylight grows dim I talk with himWay down in the marshy sands,And his ear is too far away to hearBut still he understands, he ‘stands, I know he understands. For we have a code called the “scratch-tap code,"And here is what we doI scratch his toe ... once means, “Hello”And twice means, “How are you?”Three means, “Does it look like rain?” Four times means, “Don’t cry.”Five times means, “I’ll scratch you a joke.”And six times means, “Goodbye,” “Goodbye,”Six times means, “Goodbye.”And he answers me by tapping his toeOnce means, “Hello, friend.”Two taps means, “It’s very nice to feel your scratchagain.”Three taps means, "It’s lonely hereWith my head in the top of the sky.”Four taps means, “Today an eagle smiled as she flewby.”Five taps means, “Oops, I just bumped my headagainst the moon.”Six means, “Sigh” and seven means, “Bye”And eight means, “Come back soon, soon, soon,”Eight means, “Come back soon.’’And then I scratch a thousand times,And he taps with a bappity-bimm,And he laughs so hard he shakes the skyThat means I’m tickling him!

Emma爸爸读诗-On Children
On ChildrenYour children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you,And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.You may give them your love but not your thoughtFor they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their soulFor their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,Which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them,But seek not to make them like you,For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. You are the bows from which your childrenAs living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,And He bends you with His might,That His arrows may go swift and far.Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness; For even as He loves the arrow that flies,So He loves also the bow that is stable.
You tuck me in, turn out the lightkept me safe and sound at nightLittle girls depend on things like thatBrushed my teeth and combed my hairHad to drive me everywhereYou were always there when I looked backYou had to do it all aloneMake a living, make a homeMust have been as hard as it could beAnd when I couldn't sleep at nightScared things wouldn't turn out rightYou would hold my hand and sing to meCaterpillar in the treeHow you wonder who you'll beCan't go far but you can always dreamWish you may and wish you mightDon't you worry, hold on tightI promise you there will come a dayButterfly fly awayButterfly fly away (Butterfly fly away)Got your wings, now you can't stayTake those dreams and make them all come trueButterfly fly away (Butterfly fly away)You've been waiting for this dayAll along and know just what to doButterfly, Butterfly, Butterfly, Butterfly fly awayButterfly fly awayButterfly fly away

发现孩子不舒服,量脉搏,量体温:---Are you OK?---I'm not feeling well.---What's wrong?---My stomach hurts.---Let me feel your pulse. Hm, it's a bit fast.---Let me take your temperature.---Oops. 38 degrees! You've got a fever.---Let's go and see the doctor.---No! I don't want to go to the hospital!---But if you go, you'll get well faster.劝孩子吃药:---How are you feeling right now? Better?---Not really.---Here's some water. And take this pill with the water.---Yuck!---Don't worry. I put sugar in the water. Remember? A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down!---OK...... Well, it's not as bad as I thought.---Told ya! Drink lots of water and get plenty of rest, and you'll be fine very soon. Can I watch some TV?---How about I read you a story?---OK.---Now can I watch some TV?---How about we listen to some music?---OK.--- Now can I watch some TV?---Are you feeling better?---Yes!---Great. Then you can read a book you like.---......

Love You Forever-----by Robert Munsch A mother held her new baby and very slowly rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she held him, she sang: I&`&ll love you forever, I&`&ll like you for always, As long as I&`&m living my baby you&`&ll be.The baby grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was two years old, and he ran all around the house. He pulled all the books off the shelves. He pulled all the food out of the refrigerator and he took his mother&`&s watch and flushed it down the toilet. Sometimes his mother would say, "this kid is driving me CRAZY!" But at night time, when that two-year-old was quiet, she opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor, looked up over the side of his bed; and if he was really asleep she picked him up and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. While she rocked him she sang: I&`&ll love you forever, I&`&ll like you for always, As long as I&`&m living my baby you&`&ll be. The little boy grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was nine years old. And he never wanted to come in for dinner, he never wanted to take a bath, and when grandma visited he always said bad words. Sometimes his mother wanted to sell him to the zoo! But at night time, when he was asleep, the mother quietly opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor and looked up over the side of the bed. If he was really asleep, she picked up that nine-year-old boy and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she rocked him she sang: I&`&ll love you forever, I&`&ll like you for always, As long as I&`&m living my baby you&`&ll be. The boy grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was a teenager. He had strange friends and he wore strange clothes and he listened to strange music.Sometimes the mother felt like she was in a zoo! But at night time, when that teenager was asleep, the mother opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor and looked up over the side of the bed. If he was really asleep she picked up that great big boy and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. While she rocked him she sang: I&`&ll love you forever, I&`&ll like you for always, As long as I&`&m living my baby you&`&ll be. That teenager grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was a grown-up man. He left home and got a house across town. But sometimes on dark nights the mother got into her car and drove across town. If all the lights in her son&`&s house were out, she opened his bedroom window, crawled across the floor, and looked up over the side of his bed. If that great big man was really asleep she picked him up and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she rocked him she sang: I&`&ll love you forever, I&`&ll like you for always, As long as I&`&m living my baby you&`&ll be. Well, that mother, she got older. She got older and older and older. One day she called up her son and said, "You&`&d better come see me because I&`&m very old and sick." So her son came to see her. When he came in the door she tried to sing the song. She sang: I&`&ll love you forever, I&`&ll like you for always... But she couldn&`&t finish because she was too old and sick. The son went to his mother. He picked her up and rocked her back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And he sang this song: I&`&ll love you forever, I&`&ll like you for always, As long as I&`&m living my Mommy you&`&ll be. When the son came home that night, he stood for a long time at the top of the stairs. Then he went into the room where his very new baby daughter was sleeping. He picked her up in his arms and very slowly rocked her back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while he rocked her he sang: I&`&ll love you forever, Ill like you for always, As long as I&`&m living my baby you&`&ll be.

To My Teacher A substitute for working moms, She comforts, pampers, soothes and calms. With all the love she has to share, She's great to have when mom's not there. She loves to rock a fussy child, Corrects the one who gets too wild. She hears her share of tearful pleas, And comforts those with skinned up knees. With little children she plays a peek, For bigger ones it's hide-and-seek. She is an expert at each game, But somehow loses just the same She helps them learn the alphabet, And gives them hugs when they're upset. She is a true and trusted friend, Who helps them learn and play pretend. Although she's paid, it's plain to see, She serves them with a love that's free

I love my job ---Dr. Seuss I love my job, I love the pay! I love it more and more each day. I love my boss, he is the best! I love his boss and all the rest. I love my office and its location; I hate to have to go on vacation. I love my furniture, drab and grey, and piles of paper that grow each day! I think my job is really swell, there’s nothing else I love so well.I love to work among my peers, I love their leers, and jeers, and sneers. I love my computer and its software; I hug it often though it won’t care. I love each program and every file. I’d love them more if they worked a while. I’m happy to be here. I am. I am. I’m the happiest slave of the Firm, I am. I love this work, I love these chores. I love the meetings with deadly bores. I love my job—I’ll say it again I even love those friendly men. Those friendly men who've come today, In clean white coats to take me away!!!!!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR by Eric CarleIn the light of the moon a little egg lay on a leaf. One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and -pop!- out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar. He started to look for some food.On Monday he ate through one apple, but he was still hungry. On Tuesday he ate through two pears, but he was still hungry. On Wednesday he ate through three plums, but he was still hungry. On Thursday he ate through four strawberries, but he was still hungry. On Friday he ate through five oranges, but he was still hungry. On Saturday he ate through one piece of chocolate cake, one ice-cream cone, one pickle, one slice of Swiss cheese, one slice of salami, one lollipop, one piece of cherry pie, one sausage, one cupcake, and one slice of watermelon. That night he had a stomachache! The next day was Sunday again. The caterpillar ate through one nice green leaf, and after that he felt much better. Now he wasn&`&t hungry any more - and he wasn&`&t a little caterpillar any more. He was a big, fat caterpillar. He built a small house, called a cocoon, around himself. He stayed inside for more than two weeks. Then he nibbled a hole in the cocoon, pushed his way out and……He was a beautiful butterfly!------------------------------- 更多启蒙方法,学习资源,关注微信公号:晓华亲子英语 (youeryingyugushiwu)

On the Night You Were Born
On the night you were born, the moon smiled with such wonder that the stars peeked in to see you and the night wind whispered," Life will never be the same."Because there had never been anyone like you...ever in the world. So enchanted with you were the wind and the rain that they whispered the sound of your wonderful name. The sound of your name is a magical one. Let&`&s say it out loud before we go on.(You are the one and only ever you)It sailed through the farmland high on the breeze...(Who in the world is exactly like you? who who who)Over the ocean...And through the trees...Until everyone heard it and everyone knew of the one and only ever you.Not once had there been such eyes, such a nose, such silly, wiggly, wonderful toes.In fact, I think I&`&ll count to three so you can wiggle your toes for me.When the polar bears heard, they danced until dawn. From faraway places, the geese flew home. The moon stayed up until morning next day.And none of the ladybugs flew away.So whenever you doubt just how special you are and you wonder who loves you, how much and how far, listen for geese honking high in the sky.(They&`&re singing a song to remember you by.)Or notice the bears asleep at the zoo.(It&`&s because they&`&ve been dancing all night for you!)Or drift off to sleep to the sound of the wind.(Listen closely...it&`&s whispering your name again!)If the moon stays bird sits at your window awhile, it&`&s because they&`&re all hoping to see you smile...For never before in story or rhyme (not even once upon a time)has the world ever known a you, my friend, and it never will, not ever again...Heaven blew every trumpet and played every horn on the wonderful, marvelous night you were born.

Winnie the Witch lived in a black house in the forest. The house was black on the outside and black on the inside. The carpets were black. The chairs were black. The bed was black and it had black sheets and black blankets. Even the bath was black.Winnie lived in her black house with her cat, Wilbur. He was black too. And that is how the trouble began. When Wilbur sat on a chair with his eyes open, Winnie could see him. She could see his eyes, anyway. But when Wilbur closed his eyes and went to sleep, Winnie couldn&`&t see him at all. So she sat on him. When Wilbur sat on the carpet with his eyes open, Winnie could see him. She could see his eyes, anyway. But when Wilbur closed his eyes and went to sleep, Winnie couldn&`&t see him at all. So she tripped over him. One day, after a nasty fall, Winnie decided something had to be done. She picked up her magic wand, waved it once and ABRACADABRA! Wilbur was a black cat no longer. He was bright green! Now, when Wilbur slept on a chair, Winnie could see him. When Wilbur slept on the floor, Winnie could see him.And she could see him when he slept on the bed. But, Wilbur was not allowed to sleep on the bed…So Winnie put him outside. Outside in the grass.Winnie came hurrying outside, tripped over Wilbur, turned three somersaults, and fell into a rose bush. When Wilbur sat outside in the grass, Winnie couldn’t see him, even when his eyes were wide open. This time, Winnie was furious. She picked up her magic wand, waved it five times and…… Abracadabra! Wilbur had a red head, a yellow body, a pink tail, blue whiskers, and four purple legs. But his eyes were still green. Now, Winnie could see Wilbur when he sat on a chair, when he lay on the carpet, when he crawled into the grass. And even when he climbed to the top of the tallest tree. Wilbur climbed to the top of the tallest tree to hide. He looked ridiculous and he knew it. Even the birds laughed at him. Wilbur was miserable. He stayed at the top of the tree all day and all night. Next morning Wilbur was still up the tree. Winnie was worried. She loved Wilbur and hated him to be miserable. Then Winnie had an idea. She waved her magic wand and Abracadabra! Wilbur was a black cat once more. Then Winnie waved her wand again, and again, and again. Abracadabra! Now instead of a black house, she had a yellow house with a red roof and a red door. The chairs were white with red and white cushions. The carpet was green with pink roses. The bed was blue, with pink and white sheets and pink blankets. The bath was a gleaming white. And now, Winnie can see Wilbur no matter where he sits.

Winnie the Witch looked out of her window and shivered. Her garden was covered in snow. Her pond was covered in ice.Icicles hung from roof tops."I'm tired of winter," said Winnie.Wilbur came in through the cat flap. His feet were wet, and his whiskers were frozen.Wilbur was tired of winter, too.Suddenly, Winnie has an idea. She stopped what she was doing, took down her big book of spells, and read it carefully. Then she put on her woolly coat, her fluffy hat, her snow boots, her gloves, and her scarf. She picked up her wand and she went outside.Wilbur already had a fur coat on, so he went outside too. He thought something exciting might happen, and he wanted to watch.Winnie shut her eys. Then she stood on tiptoe, counted to ten, waed her wand five times, and shouted,ABRACADABRA!And something magical happened!Above Winnie's house the sun shone brightly. The sky was deep blue. All the snow had disappeared. It was no longer winter at Winnie's house. It was sunny summer.Winnie took off her woolly coat, her fluffy hat, her snow boots, her gloves, and her scarf. She got her deckchair and went out in the garden to sit in the sun."This is lovely," said Winnie."Summer is much nicer."Wilbur lay down in the sun and purred. This is lovely, he thought.Summer is much nicer than winter. All over the garden, little animals ere waking up.They had been having their winter sleep, and they were very cross. They came out into the garden, yawning sleepily."It's too early for summer," they grumbled."We want to go back to sleep."The flowers had been asleep under the snow. They woke up and began to grow.Up came the leaves, and then the flowers. But the sun was too hot for them.Their heads began to droop. All the lovely flowers were dying.Winnie was worried. The animals and the flowers didn't like her lovely summer. Then she heard a very strange noise...Winnie turned around, and there behind her was a great crowd of people. They were running along the road towards her house. They crowded into her garden. They took off their coats, their hats, their boots, their gloves, and their scarves. They sat in the sunshine. They walked on Winnies's floweres. They put orange peel on Winnie's grass. They paddled in Winnie's pond.Soon there was no room for Winnie and Wilbur in the garden. They went inside and looked out of the window. The noise was horrible. The mess was horrible.Winnie's lovely summer was horrible. Then Winnie heard another strange noise.A tinkling noise...Somebody was selling ice creams in her garden.Winnie as furious. She grabbed her wand. She rushed outside. She stamped her foot, shut her eyes, counted to ten, waved her wand five times and shouted,ABRACADABRA!The sun disappeared. The blue sky disappeared. And the snow began to fall. The people put on their coats, their hats, their boots, their gloves, and their scarves, and rushed home. The animals went back to bed, to finish their winter sleep. The flowers went back under the ground to wait for spring.Winnie and Wilbur went back inside.Winnie made a cup of hot chocolate and toasted a muffin.Wilbur had a saucer of warm milk. Then Winnie snuggled into bed.Wilbur curled up at the foot of the bed and purred."This is warm and cosy," said Winnie."Winter is lovely too."

A Christmas Dream
Lulu is a little polar bear who lives in an igloo on the polar ice cap.On Christmas Eve, his eyes shining with excitement, he asks his mum: - Mum, I’ve been good this year, haven’t I? - Of course you have dear. You’re a very good little bear. - Can I write my letter to Santa Claus then? - Of course you can, replies his mum, but after that, you’ll have to go to bed, because it’s already late. So Lulu gets down to work, fountain pen in paw before a blank sheet of paper.Dear Santa Claus, I hope that you are well, and your little helpers too. This year, I would like: - A long woollen scarf (I get cold on the ice cap sometimes) - A wooden sledge - A fishing rod Please! (It doesn’t matter if you can’t bring every single present) Thank youHugs and kisses LuluAfter having finished his letter to Santa Claus, Lulu went to bed. But before he went off to sleep, he thought once more about what he’d written. Of course, he’d really, really like to have all these presents. But what he’d like to do most of all would be to meet Santa Claus himself and to go for a ride in his sleigh. Lulu dozed off, dreaming of an old man with a white beard, a huge sack full of presents and a sleigh that was as fast as the wind. Tomorrow, he’d post his letter at the top of White Angel Hill. The next morning, Lulu got up very early. He got his backpack ready, in which he put his letter and his lunch – it was a long journey, after all. He said goodbye to his parents and started off. It was still cold, but the sun had started to rise over the ice pack. Far off in the distance, Lulu spied the hill. It looked like it was a million miles away! But the brave, determined little bear kept on walking, although he was already exhausted. He went a little further and then decided to have a quick break. He sat down on a little block of ice and set his backpack down next to him. The sun’s rays warmed his hands and face just a bit.He was so tired he closed his eyelids and dropped off to sleep. When he opened them again, he was seized with panic! The sun had melted the ice, and all around him there was nothing but water, it was like being trapped on a tiny island! The sun was starting to set. He couldn’t go back home, or go on to the hill... He sank down onto the block of ice in despair and big, fat tears trickled down his furry coat. "I’m lost. I can’t get back home and I can’t post my letter to Santa Claus." However, just as darkness was beginning to spread over the ice cap, a light shone in the sky and a very faint jingling sound reached his ears. Lulu looked up into the starry sky. What do you think he saw? He could hardly believe his eyes... Santa Claus’ sleigh, pulled by its team of reindeer!Above him the sleigh began to slow down, before landing on the ice, leaving a trail of silver stars in its wake. Lulu stood open-mouthed in amazement before the man with the white beard, who said: "Are you coming, my little fellow? I’m going to take you back to your home". All his sadness and fears forgotten, Lulu climbed into the sleigh. The little bear was dumbstruck! He – Lulu – was flying over the ocean in Santa Claus’ magnificent sleigh! He was so excited at how fast they were going, he even forgot all about his letter and the presents he wanted for Christmas. None of that mattered any more – his dream had come true!A few minutes later, the sleigh came to a stop outside his igloo. The little bear gave Santa Claus a big hug to thank him. The old man gave him a wink and his fine scarlet woolly hat. "The pleasure was all mine, little fellow! Merry Christmas!" and quick as a flash, he disappeared into the sky. "Darling, you’re back!" Lulu’s parents rushed towards him and held him in their arms. "We were so scared, little cub, where were you?" his dad asked. "Santa Claus gave me a wonderful present!" the little bear replied, still all excited."He’s given us the best possible present to us as well" said his mum, hugging her little bear cub very tightly in her arms.

My Mum (光讲my dad可不行)
She’s nice, my mum. My mum’s a fantastic cook, and a brilliant juggler. She’s a great painter, and the strongest woman in the world! She’s really nice, my mum. My mum’s a magic gardener. She can make anything grow. And she’s a good fairy. When I’m sad she can make me happy. She can sing like an angle, and roar like a lion. She’s really, really nice, my mum. My mum’s as beautiful as a butterfly, and as comfy as an armchair. She’s as soft as a kitten, and as tough as a rhino. She’s really, really nice, my mum. My mum could be a dancer, or an astronaut. She could be a film star, or the big boss. But she’s my mum. She’s a supermum! And she makes me laugh. A lot. I love my mum. And you know what? She loves me! (And she always will.)

(有文字) The Littlest Knight 下
The King couldn't refuse his only daughter. He rose from his throne and knighted the blacksmith. Then, for luck, the Princess unwound her long braid, pulled out a single hair and handed it to the littlest knight. He placed it in a pocket over his heart. "May you have good fortune, my brave knight," she said.So the littlest knight set out on his pony to find the dragon. He met many tired and injured knights and one helpful fellow told him, "Go back. One man can't carry 1,000 swords, nor can you cross a bridge which isn't there, and if you fill an empty cup it won't be empty any more. It is all a trick." He thought the littlest knight was the biggest fool. The littlest knight had been traveling half a day when he came upon an object in the road beneath a tree. It was a beehive. Being a kind soul he picked it up to put it back in the tree. Suddenly he heard a tiny, buzzing voice. We see you have kind intentions, But please don't put us back. Every knight who's seen us here, Raised his sword and gave a whack. Carry us elsewhere, we pray, And we'll return the favor one day."OK," said the littlest knight and carefully tied the beehive to his saddle. It was shortly after that he found the dragon or rather it found him. It landed nearby to look him over, and said,Pfft, why you're nothing but a pea,Who doesn't reach my knee.Go home and grow some more.Fighting you would be a bore. But the littlest knight charged anyway striking a blow with his sword."Ouch," said the dragon. The littlest knight charged and struck him again. The dragon roared. You've gone too far this time. You hit me on my behind. I'll fry you till What you look like most, Is a piece of burnt up toast.Suddenly there was a buzzing from the knapsack. A bee flew out and up to the littlest knight's ear.We have a way to repay you, Throw our beehive and we'll save you.So the littlest knight grabbed the beehive, throwing it at the dragon's head. Immediately a thousand bees flew out with a thousand stingers. With their tiny swords they stung the dragon again and again. The dragon's eyes began to swell and he could hardly see. With a bellow of pain and anger he leaped into the air and flew off to his cave in the mountains. The littlest knight followed on his pony. When he reached the dragon's lair he saw that the cliffs of the ravine were so far across that building a bridge would take a year. He sat down to think about it, meanwhile pulling from his pocket the Princess' single silken hair.Again there was a buzzing from the knapsack and a bee flew out. It asked him what the matter was. When he told it, it said. This is easy. To cross a bridge which isn't there, Could be a single human hair. Tie the Princess's to my back. I'll fly it there and Tie it near the dragon's lair. The bee did just that. The littlest knight couldn't believe his good fortune until he was fully halfway across the ravine, balancing like an acrobat. The Princess's hair seemed magical for it stretched the whole distance and even with his weight did not break. He made it across and entered the cave. There he found the dragon in a far corner. It was in misery with its eyes swollen shut and its forked tongue lying on the ground. It hissed at his approach, for it could still smell him.I warn you do not come in here. I'll kill you if you come near. It's foolhardy to be involved, When there's still a riddle to be solved. But the littlest knight wasn't afraid. With his kind heart all he could feel now was pity. He wanted to help the beast, to give it water to drink and cool its swollen eyes.Returning outside he climbed down the cliff to the stream below. At the bottom there was plenty of water but nothing with which to carry it. Then he spied a chipped cup some knight had tossed from above. Carefully picking it from the sand he filled it as best as he could and climbed back up.But when he got back to the dragon he discovered that not only had the cup been chipped but it had a crack he had not seen. What little water there was had drained out while he was climbing. He approached the dragon and said, "I'm sorry. I meant to help you, I really did. But the cup is empty."To his surprise the beast rose up with a roar of glee.Thank you, oh thank you, little knight, You have saved me, all right! An empty cup it may be, But it was filled with kindness, you see. And an empty cup filled, sets me free! I was a good and gentle dragon long ago, Before I angered an evil wizard so that He cursed me to be as wicked as he. I'm forever in your debt, I&`&m the happiest dragon yet. Let me take you home. I'll guard you forever, I tell no lies. I'll be your wings, if you&`&ll be my eyes. The littlest knight was shocked, stunned and delighted. The evil dragon wasn't evil at all, only bewitched, and now that the riddles were solved it was proving to be as kind as its new master. The first thing the littlest knight did was attach the beehive to a high rock at the mouth of the cave. The bees were thrilled. They had a new home with shelter, protection and most important, privacy, and the stream below had enough flowers growing by it to make more honey than they would ever need. Then the littlest knight, astride his flying dragon, flew home with his pony galloping beneath. At first the King and all the kingdom were terrified. All except the Princess, that is. She trusted her littlest knight and upon hearing the whole story set about immediately to make a healing salve for the dragon's eyes. The littlest knight married her and got half the kingdom. The dragon got back his eyesight and, true to his word, guarded the kingdom.

(有文字) The Littlest Knight 上
Once upon a time long ago, even before the days of King Arthur, there lived a blacksmith only three feet tall. He was so short that he needed a stool to stand on to shoe the great steeds of the knights. This bothered him not a bit because although he was small he was very brave. In fact, in his heart he secretly longed to become a knight and win the hand of the Princess. The Princess was the King and Queen's only child and it should come as no surprise that the little blacksmith loved her very much for she was both kind and beautiful. She was even smaller than he, and had dancing eyes and long silken hair which she wore in a coiled braid. But, alas, the little blacksmith could admire the Princess only from afar because she was, after all, a princess and he but a lowly blacksmith--not even that tall. One day a terrible dragon came to the kingdom. Breathing fire on anyone who crossed its path, it trampled houses and burned fields. Many knights battled the dragon but their swords could not cut its thick scales. Each night it flew home to its cave in the mountains surrounded by a deep ravine. The dragon was enchanted and protected by a magic spell. It said,He who would break my spell, Must carry a thousand swords, And do it well. Then cross a bridge which isn&`&t there, If he wants to reach my lair. And last, not least, my defeat Will be an empty cup filled. Many knights went to battle and many knights were hurt as the dragon moved closer and closer to the castle. The King declared whosoever killed the dragon would be granted half his kingdom. Now knights came from across the sea. They were the most fierce, the bravest and the biggest knights anyone had ever seen. A thousand of them gathered to attack the dragon. But with his great wings the dragon took no time in knocking 50 knights from their horses and breathing fire on the rest. He said,You must think I&`&m here to fiddle, 1,000 men--that&`&s not the riddle. One man alone, only one man, With a thousand swords, That&`&s the plan.In desperation the King proclaimed whosoever solved the riddles and killed the dragon would be granted their heart&`&s desire. Now the merchants got busy. Suddenly there were swords everywhere: fat swords, skinny swords, sharp swords, dull swords, fancy swords, but mostly tiny swords so that one man might carry many of them. But a tiny sword is more like a dagger and most knights were too proud to carry a sackful of daggers. There was also a need for building materials to make the bridge, all kinds and shapes of wood and rock and rope and twine. Of course, with all this material they needed carts to carry it and animals to pull it so there was a run on wagons and horses and donkeys and oxen. Lastly, the chinaware merchants had a field day. They sold crystal goblets, wooden goblets, big cups, little cups, coffee cups, fat cups, skinny cups. To fill these cups the wine merchants and the milkmaids sold red wine, white wine, sparkling wine, cow&`&s milk, goat&`&s milk and all types of fruit juice. As a matter of fact, the kingdom had never known such commercial success. Nothing was left of anything resembling a sword or building material, or a wagon to hold it, or an animal to pull it, and there was not a drop of liquid left in all the kingdom but ordinary water. What was left were sacks and sacks and sacks of money piled everywhere. And did this do any good? No. The knights for all their effort and all their supplies couldn&`&t defeat the dragon and now the countryside was strewn with debris and the kingdom was a mess.Only the little blacksmith&`&s heart was full of hope for he finally had a chance to win the hand of the Princess. He fashioned a suit of armor and a sword out of old tin cups and scrap metal, mounted his pony and rode to court. Bowing before the King, he said, "I wish to be knighted so that I may rid your kingdom of this horrible monster."There was a moment of silence, then everyone but the Princess began to laugh. In fact, they laughed and they laughed, which made the little blacksmith&`&s ears turn red. The King said, "You are no match for this dragon. It takes might to fight. You are simply too small."The little blacksmith squared his shoulders. "I may be slight but I can fight."The Princess was impressed. It was clear to her he was brave and good. "Father, for my sake, knight him this day. You promised whosoever should slay the dragon, and surely he deserves a chance."

The King of the Cats
The King of the Cats
Once upon a time there were two brothers who lived in a lonely house in a very lonely part of Scotland. An old woman used to do the cooking, and there was no one else, unless we count her cat and their own dogs, within miles of them.
One autumn afternoon the elder of the two, whom we will call Elshender, said he would not go out - so the younger one, Fergus, went alone to follow the path where they had been shooting the day before, far across the mountains.
He meant to return home before the early sunset - however, he did not do so, and Elshender became very uneasy as he watched and waited in vain till long after their usual suppertime. At last Fergus returned, wet and exhausted, nor did he explain why he was so late.
But after supper when the two brothers were seated before the fire, on which the peat crackled cheerfully, the dogs lying at their feet, and the old woman's black cat sitting gravely with half-shut eyes on the hearth between them, Fergus recovered himself and began to tell his adventures.
"You must be wondering," said he, "what made me so late. I have had a very, very strange adventure to-day. I hardly know what to say about it. I went, as I told you I should, along our yesterday's track. A mountain fog came on just as I was about to turn homewards, and I completely lost my way. I wandered about for a long time not knowing where I was, till at last I saw a light, and made for it, hoping to get help.
"As I came near it, it disappeared, and I found myself close to an old oak tree. I climbed into the branches the better to look for the light, and, behold! there it was right beneath me, inside the hollow trunk of the tree. I seemed to be looking down into a church, where a funeral was taking place. I heard singing, and saw a coffin surrounded by torches, all carried by--But I know you won't believe me, Elshender, if I tell you!"
His brother eagerly begged him to go on, and threw a dry peat on the fire to encourage him. The dogs were sleeping quietly, but the cat was sitting up, and seemed to be listening just as carefully and cannily as Elshender himself. Both brothers, indeed, turned their eyes on the cat as Fergus took up his story.
"Yes," he continued, "it is as true as I sit here. The coffin and the torches were both carried by CATS, and upon the coffin were marked a crown and a scepter!"
He got no farther, for the black cat started up, shrieking:--
"My stars! old Peter's dead, and I'm the King o' the Cats!"--Then rushed up the chimney, and was seen no more.

The witch tapped the broomstick and
whoosh! they were gone.
Over the moors and the
mountains they flew.
The frog jumped for joy and...
THE BROOM
SNAPPED IN TWO!
Down fell the cat and the dog
and the frog.
Down they went tumbling
into a bog.
The witch's half-broomstick
flew into a cloud,
And the witch heard a roar
that was scary and loud...
"I am a dragon, as mean as can be,
And witch with french fries
tastes delicious to me!"
"No!" cried the witch,
flying higher and higher.
The dragon flew after her,
breathing out fire.
"Help!" cried the witch,
flying down to the ground.
She looked all around
but no help could be found.
The dragon drew near
with a glint in his eyes,
And said," Just this once
I'll have witch without fries."
But just as he planned
to begin on his feast,
From out of a ditch
rose a horrible beast.
It was tall, dark, and stickly,
and feathered and furred.
It had four frightful heads,
It had wings like a bird.
And its terrible voice,
When it started to speak,
Was a yowl and growl
and a croak and a shriek.
It dripped and it squelched
as it strode from the ditch,
And it sain to the dragon,
"Buzz off!--
THAT'S MY WITCH!"
The dragon drew back
and he started to shake.
"I'm sorry!" he spluttered.
"I made a mistake.
It's nice to have met you,
but now I must fly."
And he spread out his wings
and was off through the sky.
Then down flew the bird
and down jumped the frog.
Down climbed the cat,
and,"hew!" said the dog.
And, "Thank you, oh, thank you!"
the grateful witch cried.
"Without you I'd be
in that dragon's inside."
Then she filled up her cauldron
and said with a grin,
"Find something, everyone,
throw something in!"
So the frog found a lily,
the cat found a cone,
The bird found a twig,
and the dog found a bone.
They threw them all in
and the witch stirred them well,
And while she was stirring,
she muttered a spell.
"Iggety, ziggety, zaggety, ZOOM!"
Then out rose...
A TRULY
MAGNIGFICENT BROOM!
With seats for the witch
and the cat and the dog,
A nest for the bird and
a pool for the frog.
"Yes!" cried the witch,
and they all clambered on.
The witch tapped the broomstick and
whoosh! they were gone.

The witch had a cat
and a hat that was black,
And long ginger hair
in a braid down her back.
How the cat purred
and how the witch grinned,
As they sat on their broomstick
and flew through the wind.
But how the witch wailed
and how the cat spat,
When the wind blew so wildly,
it blew off the hat.
"Down!" cried the witch,
and they flew to the ground.
They searched for the hat,
but no hat could be found.
Then out of the bushes
on thundering paws
There bounded a dog
with the hat in his jaws.
He dropped it politely,
then eagerly said
(As the witch pulled the hat
firmly down on her head),
"I am a dog,as keen as can be.
Is there room on the broom
for a dog like me?"
"Yes!" cried the witch,
and the dog clambered on.
The witch tapped the broomstick and
whoosh! they were gone.
Over the fields and the
forests they flew.
The dog wagged his tail
and the stormy wind blew.
The witch laughed out loud
and held on to her hat,
But away blew the bow
from her brain--just like that!
"Down!" cried the witch,
and they flew to the ground.
They searched for the bow,
but no bow could be found.
Then out from a tree
with an ear-splitting shriek,
There flapped a green bird
with the bow in her beak.
SHe dropped it politely,
and bent her head low,
Then said (as the witch
tied her braid in the bow),
"I am a bird,
as green as can be.
Is there room on the broom
for a bird like me?"
"Yes!" cried the witch,
so the bird fluttered on.
The witch tapped the broomstick and
whoosh! they were gone.
Over the reeds and the
rivers they flew.
The bird shrieked with glee
and the stormy wind blew.
They shot through the sky
to the back of beyoud.
The witch clutched her bow--
but let go of her wand.
"Down!"cried the witch,
and they flew to the ground.
They searched for the wand,
but no wand could be found.
Then all of a sudden
from out of a pond
Leaped a dripping wet frog
with a dripping wet wand.
He dropped it politely,
then said with a croak
(As the witch dried the wand
on a fold of her cloak),
"I am a frog, as clean as can be.
Is there room on the broom
for a frog like me?"
"Yes!" said the witch, so the frog
bounded on.

Long long ago, an old man kept a group of monkeys. He understood them very well and had great fun with them. Everyday the old man treated the monkeys by feeding them acorns. They were all very, very happy.
Soon the old man's supply of acorns began to run out. He decided to cut their rations. One day, the old man asked his monkeys: "From now on, I will give each of you three acorns in the morning and four in the evening. What do you say to that?" Blinking their eyes, the monkeys looked at one another and clattered angrily. "I'm sorry." The old man said with a smile. "Calm down. Calm down. How about four for breakfast and three for supper?"
The monkeys quieted down and looked much more content. They jumped happily around their master as if they have been promised more nice food.
From this fable comes the idiom Zhao San Mu Si. At first the phrase was used to illustrate the idea that the wise are good at tricks, and the foolish are easily taken in. But now, the idiom is used for someone who doesn't know his own mind and changes all the time.

If you give a mouse a cookie, he's going to ask for a glass of milk.
When you give him the milk, he'll probably ask you for a straw.
When he's finished, he'll ask for a napkin.
Then he'll want to look in a mirror to make sure he doesn't have a milk mustache.
When he looks into the mirror, he might notice his hair needs a trim.
So he'll probably ask for a pair of nail scissors.
When he's finished giving himself a trim, he'll want a broom to sweep up.
He'll start sweeping.
He might get carried away and sweep every room in the house.
He may even end up washing the floors as well!
When he's done, he'll probably want to take a nap.
You'll have to fix up a little box for him with a blanket and a pillow.
He'll crawl in, make himself comfortable and fluff the pillow a few times.
He'll probably ask you to read him a story.
So you'll read to him from one of your books, and he'll ask to see the pictures.
When he looks at the pictures, he'll get so excited he'll want to draw one of his own. He'll ask for paper and crayons.
He'll draw a picture.
When the picture is finished, he'll want to sign his name with a pen.
Then he'll want to hang his picture on your refrigerator.
Which means he'll need scotch tape.
He'll hang up his drawing and stand back to look at it.
Looking at the refrigerator will remind him that he's thirsty.
So...he'll ask for a glass of milk.
And chances are if he asks for a glass of milk, he's going to want a cookie to go with it.

When you give him your lunchbox,
he’ll want a sandwich–And a snack for later.
Then he’ll need a notebook and some pencils.
He’ll probably want to share your backpack, too.
When you get to school,
He’ll put his things in your locker and take a look around.
He might do a little math, and spell a word or two.
He’ll even try a science experiment!
Then he’ll need to wash up.
You’ll have to take him to the bathroom.
Once he’s nice and clean,
He’ll be ready for his lunch.
One the way to the lunchbox, he’ll see some building blocks.
He’ll build a little mouse house.
And make some furniture out of clay.
Then he’ll need some books for his bookshelf.
He’ll start by writing one of his own,
So he’ll need a lot of paper.
He’ll probably use up all your pencils.
When he’s finished,
he’ll want to read his book to you.
Then he’ll want to take it home.
So he’ll put it in your lunchbox,
And tuck it in a safe place.
When the bell rings,
He’ll run out to wait for the bus.
While he’s waiting, He’ll play a quick game of soccer.
Then he’ll ask you to shoot a few baskets,
And do a little skateboarding.
When he stops to catch his breath,
he’ll want to eat his snack.

And chances are,
if he asks you for your lunchbox,
you’ll have to take him back to school.

Danny went to camp for the summer. He took along his friend the dinosaur.
“Camp is fun. You will enjoy it,” said Danny. “Thanks. I needed a vacation,” said the dinosaur.
“Welcome,” said the camp owner. “You’re the first dinosaur we ever had here.”
Lana the leader said, “Let’s start with a race. On your mark, get set, go!”
The dinosaur took a step. “You win!” shouted Danny.
The children played football. The dinosaur ran with the ball,
and nobody could stop him. “Touchdown!” shouted Danny.
Lana took everybody to the lake. “Here is where we row our boats,” she said.
The children rowed little boats. Danny rowed the dinosaur.
It was time for lunch. “Please pass the ketchup,” said Danny.
“Of course, just as soon as I finish this bottle,” said the dinosaur.
After lunch everybody wrote letters home. “Please send me my own ketchup,” Danny wrote.
“Send me a pizza,” wrote the dinosaur.
“Now let’s go on a hike,” said Lana,
And everybody followed her.
Then Danny got tired and climbed on the dinosaur.
“Wait for us! We’re tired too!” shouted the children.
“Hold tight,” said the dinosaur.
The dinosaur even carried Lana!
It got dark. Everybody sat around the campfire.
Lana gave out toasted marshmallows. “Here, have all you want,” she said.
“Thanks, but I don’t have room for more,” said Danny.
“I have room,” said the dinosaur.
It was time for bed. “I can’t wait to get under the covers,” said Danny.
“Me too,” said the dinosaur.
But the dinosaur’s bunk was too small for him.
He took a pillow and went outside.
“Wake me up for breakfast,” said the dinosaur, and he fell asleep on the ground. “Good night,” Danny said.

During the Warring States Period (475-221BC), there was a man called Yue Yangzi in State Yue. One day he saw a piece of gold on the road and picked it up. He took it home and gave it to his wife. But his wife was not happy. The virtuous woman said, "I hear that a man of morality doesn't drink a thief's water and a man of probity refuses to accept alms. What do you think of the action of picking up another's lost valuable and possessing it for one's own?"
Yue Yangzi, feeling ashamed, sent the gold back to where he found it.
The next year, Yue Yangzi felt that he should go out and visit scholars to enrich his knowledge. So he set off.
A year later, he came back home suddenly.
"Why have you returned?" asked his wife in surprise, "You've only spent one year studying with scholars."
"I come back because I missed you very much."
Without saying anything, his wife took a pair of scissors and went to the loom at which she had worked. Pointing at the half done brocade, she proclaimed : "This brocade is woven from the finest silk. I wove one strand after another to produce the brocade. Now if I cut it, all my previous work will be wasted. It's the same with your studies. You can acquire knowledge only through diligence. Now, you've stopped halfway. Isn't it the same as cutting the brocade on the loom?"
Yue Yangzi was moved by what she said. He again left home to visit scholars. Several years later he became a learned man.

During the Han Dynasty, there was a county magistrate called Ying Bin. One summer day, he invited his secretary Du Xuan to his house and treated him with wine. On the north wall of the room hung a red bow. It was reflected in Du Xuan's cup. Du Xuan took the reflection for a squirming snake. He was very frightened but he dared not turn down Ying Bin's offer because he was his superior. He had to swallow the wine with his eyes closed.
When he was back at home he felt so painful in his chest and stomach that he could hardly eat and drink any more. He sent for the doctor and tried much medicine but nothing could cure him.
When Ying Bin asked Du Xuan how he got so seriously ill, Du told him he drank the wine with a snake in his cup the other day. Ying Bin found something strange about that. He turned home, thought hard, but he couldn't find an answer. Suddenly the bow on the north wall caught his eye. "That's it!" he shouted. He immediately sent his man to fetch Du Xuan. He seated him where he sat before and offered him a cup of wine.
Du Xuan saw the snake-like shadow again. Before Du was scared out of his wits again, Ying Bin said, pointing at the shadow, "The 'snake'in the cup is nothing but a reflection of the bow on the north wall!"
Now that Du Xuan knew what it was, he felt much easier. his illness disappeared the next moment!
This story was later contracted into the idiom-mistake the reflection of a bow in the cup for a snake. We use it to describe someone who is very suspicious.

Adventure of Danny and the Dinosaur
One day Danny went to the museum. He wanted to see what was inside.
He saw Indians.
He saw bears.
He saw Eskimos.
He saw guns.
He saw swords.
And he saw ...
DINOSAURS!
Danny loved dinosaurs.
He wished he had one.
"I'm sorry they are not real,"said Danny.
"It would be nice to play with a dinosaur."
"And I think it would be nice to play with you," said a voice.
"Can you?" said Danny.
"Yes," said the dinosaur.
"Oh,good," said Danny.
"What can we do ?"
"I can take you for a ride," said the dinosaur.
He put his head down so Danny could get on him.
"Let's go!" said Danny.
A policeman stared at them .
He had never seen a dinosaur stop for a red light.
The dinosaur was so tall Danny had to hold up the ropes for him.
"Look out !" said Danny.
"Bow wow!" said a dog, running after them.
"He thinks you are a car ," said Danny. "Go away, dog. We are not a car ."
"I can make a noise like a car," said the dinosaur . "Honk! Honk! Honk!"
"What big rocks," said the dinosaur.
"They are not rocks," said Danny. "They are buildings."
"I love to climb ," said the dinosaur.
"Down, boy!" said Danny.
The dinosaur had to be very careful not to knock over houses or stores with his long tail.
Some people were waiting for a bus . They rode on the dinosaur's tail instead.
"All who want to cross the street , may walk on my back," said the dinosaur.
"It's very nice of you to help me with my bundles," said a lady.
Danny and the dinosaur went all over town and had lots of fun.
"It's good to take a hour or two off after a hundred million years," said the dinosaur.
They even looked at the ball game.
"Hit the ball," said Danny. "Hit a home run," said the dinosaur.
"I wish we had a boat," said Danny.
"Who needs a boat ? I can swim," said the dinosaur .
"Toot,toot!" went the boats.
"Toot, toot!" went Danny and the dinosaur.
"Oh, what lovely green grass!" said the dinosaur. "I haven't eaten any of that for a very long time."
"Wait," said Danny. "See what it says."
They both had ice cream instead.
"Let's go to the zoo and see the animals," said Danny.
Everybody came running to see the dinosaur.
Nobody stayed to see the lions.
Nobody stayed to see the elephants.
Nobody stayed to see the monkeys.
And nobody stayed to see the seals, giraffes or hippos, either.
"Please go away so the animals will get looked at," said the zoo man,
"Let's find my friends," said Danny.
"Very well," said the dinosaur.
"There they are," said Danny.
"Why,it's Danny riding on a dinosaur," said a child .
"Maybe he'll give us a ride."
"May we have a ride?" asked the children.
"I'd be delighted," said the dinosaur. "Hold on tight," said Danny.
Around and around the block ran the dinosaur, faster and faster and faster.
"This is better than a merry-go-round." the children said.
The dinosaur was out of breath.
"Teach him tricks," said the dinosaur.
Danny taught the dinosaur how to shake hands.
"Can you roll over on your back?" asked the children.
"That's easy," said the dinosaur.
"He's smart," said Danny, patting the dinosaur.
"Let's play hide and seek," said the children.
"How do you play it?" said the dinosaur.
"We hide and you try to find us," said Danny.
The dinosaur covered his eyes.
All the children ran to hide.
The dinosaur looked and looked but he couldn't find the children.
"I give up ," he said.
Now it was the dinosaur's turn to hide. The children covered their eyes.
The dinosaur hid behind a house. The children found him.
He hid behind a sign. The children found him.
He hid behind a big gas tank. The children found him. They found him again and again and again.
"I guess there's no place for me to hide," cried the dinosaur.
"Let's make believe we can't find him ," Danny said.
"Where can he be? Where , oh, where is that dinosaur ?
Where did he go ? We give up," said the children.
"Here I am," said the dinosaue.
"The dinosaur wins," said the children. "We couldn't find him. He fooled us."
"Hurrah for the dinosaur !" the children cried. "Hurray! Hurray!"
It got late and the other children left.
Danny and the dinosaur were alone. "Well, goodbye,Danny," said the dinosaur.
"Can't you come and stay with me ?" said Danny.
"We could have fun."
"No," said the dinosaur, "I've had a good time--the best I've had in a hundred million years.
"But now I must get back to the museum. They need me there ."
"Oh," said Danny. "Well, goodbye."
Dannny watched until the long tail was out of sight.
Then he went home alone.
"Oh,well," thought Danny, "we don't have room for a pet that size, anyway. But we did have a wonderful day."

The Pig in the Pond
The Pig in the Pond(池塘里的猪)
This is the story of Neligan's pig.
One day Neligan went into town.
It was hot. It was dry.
The sun shone in the sky.
Neligan's pig sat by Neligan's pond.
The ducks went, "Quack!"
The geese went, "Honk!"
They were cool on the water in Neligan's pond.
The pig sat in the sun.
She looked at the pond.
The ducks went, "Quack!"
The geese went, "Honk!"
The pig went, "Oink!"
She didn't go in, because pigs don't swim.
The pig sat in the sun getting hotter and hotter.
The ducks went, "Quack, quack!"
The geese went, "Honk, honk!"
The pig went, "Oink, olink!" She didn't go in, because pigs don't swim.
The pig gulped and gasped and looked at the water.
The ducks went, "Quack, quack, quack!"
The geese went, "Honk, honk, honk!"
The pig went, "Oink, oink, oink!"
She rose from the ground and turned round and round stamping her trotters and twirling her
tail and...
SPLASH!
SPLASH! SPLASH! SPLASH! SPLASH!
The ducks and geese were splashed out of the pond.
The ducks went, "Quack, quack, quack, quack!"
The geese went, "Honk, honk, honk, honk!"
which means, very loudly, "The pig's in the pond!"
"The pig's in the pond!" "The pig's in the pond!"
The word spread about, above and beyond,
"The pig's in the pond!" "The pig's in the pond!"
"At Neligan's farm, the pig's in the pond!"
From the fields all around they came to see the pig in the pond at Neligan's farm.
And then...
Neligan came on his cart!
Neligan looked at the pig in the pond.
The pig went, "Oink!"
Neligan took off his hat.
Neligan looked at the pig in the pond.
The pig went, "Oink, oink!"
Neligan took off his trousers and boots.
Neligan looked at the pig in the pond.
The pig went, "Oink, oink, oink!"
Neligan took off his shirt.
Neligan looked at the pig in the pond.
The pig went, "Oink, oink, oink, OINK!"
Neligan took off his pants and...
SPLASH! Neligan joined the pig in the pond.
What happened next?
SPLOOOOOOOSH!
They all joined the pig in the pond!
And that was the story of Neligan's pig.

And then the second wolf kept thinking how he could get away, and he said: “It seems very funny, our brother went to fetch the wood, but he hasn’t brought the wood, and hasn’t come back himself. I’ll just go and help him!” So o he went too, and never came back. And the third wolf was left sitting there, and at last he said: “I must really go and hurry them up. What are they dawdling all this time for!” And as soon as he was gone, he set o running and never so much as looked back.
And at that the ram and the goat were delighted. They ate up all the porridge and then ran away themselves.
Meanwhile the wolves had all three met, and they said: “Look here, why were we three frightened of the goat and the ram? They’re no stronger than we, after all! Let’s go and do them in!”
But when they came back to the re, there was not so much as a trace of them left. Then the wolves set o in pursuit, and at last they saw them, where they had climbed up a tree, the goat on an upper and the ram on a lower branch. So the eldest wolf lay down under the tree, and began to show his teeth, looking up at them, and waiting for them to climb down.
And the ram, who was trembling all over from fright, suddenly fell down right on top of the wolf, and at the same minute the goat shouted out from up above: “There, that’s the one! get me the largest of all!” And the wolf was terri ed, because he thought the ram had jumped down after him, and you should just have seen him run! And the other two followed after.

Once upon a time there lived a man and his wife, and they had a goat and a ram. And one day the man said to his wife: “Look here, let’s get rid of the ram and the goat; why, they only keep eating our corn, and don’t help to feed us at all!”
So he told them: “Be o , goat and ram, and don’t dare to show yourselves at my gate ever again.”
So the goat and the ram made themselves a bag, and went o . And they went on and on, when suddenly they saw a wolf’s head lying in the middle of the field.
And they picked up the head, put it in their bag, and went on again. And they went on and on, when suddenly they saw a re burning, and they said: “Let’s go and spend the night there, lest the wolves should eat us.”
But when they got there, lo and behold! it was the wolves themselves who were cooking their porridge, and so they said: “Good evening, young fellows, and good appetite to you!” And the wolves answered: “Good evening, Mr. Goat and Mr. Ram! We’re just boiling our porridge, come and have some, and then we’ll eat you both up.” At this the goat took fright, while as for the ram, his legs had been shaking with fear for some time.
Then the goat began to think, and he thought and thought and at last he said: “Come now, Mr. Ram, let’s have a look at that wolf’s head you’ve got in your sack!” And the ram took out the wolf’s head, when the goat said: “No, not that one. Let’s have the other bigger one!” And again the ram gave him the same head, but he said: “No, not that one either! let’s have the largest of all!”
And the wolves looked, and thought the ram had a whole sackful of wolves’ heads, and each one of them said to himself: “Well, these are nice guests to have! I’d better hop o !” And rst one said aloud to the others: “I like your company all right, brothers, but somehow, the porridge doesn’t seem to be boiling very well. I’ll just run and fetch some sticks to throw on the re.” And as he went o , he thought to himself: “You and your company be bothered!”—and never came back.

Three Little Pigs
Just as the first pig reached his door, out of the woods popped the big bad wolf. The little pig squealed with fright and slammed the door.
“Little pig, little pig,let me come in!” cried the wolf. “Not by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin!” said the little pig.
“Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in!” roared the wolf.
And he did. He blew the little straw house all to pieces!
Away raced the little pig to his brother’s house of sticks. No sooner was he in the door when knock, knock, knock, there was the big bad wolf. But of course the little pigs would not let him come in.
“I’ll fool those little pigs.” Chuckled the wolf to himself. Then he said out loud: “Those little pigs were too smart for me. I’m going home.”
He started towards the deep woods, but he did not go far. He hid behind a big tree. Soon the door opened and the little pigs peeked out. There was no wolf in sight. “Hahaha! Hohoho! We fooled him.” Then they danced around the room singing gaily.
Soon there came another knock at the door. It was the big bad wolf again. But he had covered himself with a sheepskin and was curled up in a big basket looking like a little lamb.
“Who’s there?” Called the second little pig.
“I’m a poor little sheep with no place to sleep. Please open the door and let me in.” Said the big bad wolf in a sweet voice.
The second little pig peeked through a crack of the door, and he could see the big bad wolf’s big black paws and sharp, sharp fangs.
“Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin! You can’t fool us with that sheepskin!” cried the second little pig. “Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in!” yelled the wolf.
And he blew the little house of twigs all to pieces!
The two pigs raced off to their brother’s brick house.
“Don’t worry,” said the third little pig. “You are safe here.”
Soon they were laughing and singing again.
This made the wolf very angry. He huffed and he puffed and he puffed and he huffed. But no matter how hard he tried, he could not blow down that little house of bricks.
The wolf thought and thought about how to get inside. Ah-ha! He could climb down the chimney. And so he did, right into a bubbling kettle of water that the pigs had hung in the fireplace.
With a yelp and a scream, the big, bad wolf flew straight up the chimney and ran off into the woods. The three little pigs never saw him again. They were most content to sing and laugh and dance inside their brother’s strong brick house.

Three Little Pigs
Once upon a time, there were three little pigs who went out into the world to build their homes and seek their fortunes.
The first little pig did not like to work at all. He quickly built his house of straw because that was the easiest way. Then he danced off down the road to see how his brothers were getting along.
The second little pig was building himself a house, too. He did not like to work either, so he decided to build his house out of sticks. That would be quick and easy.
Soon he was finished. The house made of sticks was not very strong, but at least his work was done. Now he was free to play.
What the second little pig liked to do best was play his fiddle. The first little pig played his flute while his brother played the fiddle and danced. Then the two went off down the road to see about their brother.
The third little pig was the serious one. He was building his house out of bricks. He did not mind working hard, and he wanted his house to be strong. For he knew that in the woods nearby lived a big, bad wolf who liked nothing better than to catch little pigs and eat them! So he worked and worked, putting each and every brick carefully in place.
The first two pigs laughed when they saw their brother hard at work. But the third little pig just ignored them and went about building his house. “You can laugh and dance and sing,” he called after his brothers. “But I’ll be safe and you’ll be sorry when the wolf comes to the door!”

Stuck a feather in his hat
And called it macaroni

Along with Captain Goodwin
There were all the men and boys

The Little Pine Tree
The Little Pine Tree
A little pine tree was in the woods. It had no leaves. It had needles.
The little tree said, "I do not like needles. All the other trees in
the woods have pretty leaves. I want leaves, too. But I will have
better leaves. I want gold leaves."
Night came and the little tree went to sleep. A fairy came by and gave
it gold leaves.
When the little tree woke it had leaves of gold.
It said, "Oh, I am so pretty! No other tree has gold leaves."
Night came.
A man came by with a bag. He saw the gold leaves. He took them all and
put them into his bag.
The poor little tree cried, "I do not want gold leaves again. I will
have glass leaves."
So the little tree went to sleep. The fairy came by and put the glass
leaves on it.
The little tree woke and saw its glass leaves.
How pretty they looked in the sunshine! 'No other tree was so bright.
Then a wind came up. It blew and blew.
The glass leaves all fell from the tree and were broken.
Again the little tree had no leaves. It was very sad, and said, "I
will not have gold leaves and I will not have glass leaves. I want
green leaves. I want to be like the other trees."
And the little tree went to sleep. When it woke, it was like other
trees. It had green leaves.
A goat came by. He saw the green leaves on the little tree. The
goat was hungry and he ate all the leaves.
Then the little tree said, "I do not want any leaves. I will not
have green leaves, nor glass leaves, nor gold leaves. I like my
needles best."
And the little tree went to sleep. The fairy gave it what it wanted.
When it woke, it had its needles again. Then the little pine tree
was happy.

谁做了Patrick的作业-Who did Patrick's homework?
Who did Patrick’s homework?
Patrick never did homework. "Too boring," he said. He played baseball and basketball and Nintendo instead. His teachers told him, "Patrick! Do your homework or you won't learn a thing." And it's true, sometimes he did feel like a ding-a-ling.
But what could he do? He hated homework.
Then on St. Patrick's Day his cat was playing with a little doll and he grabbed it away. To his surprise it wasn't a doll at all, but a man of the tiniest size. He had a little wool shirt with old fashioned britches and a high tall hat much like a witch's. He yelled, "Save me! Don't give me back to that cat. I'll grant you a wish, I promise you that."
Patrick couldn't believe how lucky he was! Here was the answer to all of his problems. So he said, "Only if you do all my homework 'til the end of the semester, that's 35 days. If you do a good enough job, I could even get A's."
The little man's face wrinkled like a dishcloth thrown in the hamper. He kicked his legs and doubled his fists and he grimaced and scowled and pursed his lips, "Oh, am I cursed! But I'll do it."
And true to his word, that little elf began to do Patrick's homework. Except there was one glitch. The elf didn't always know what to do and he needed help. "Help me! Help me!" he'd say. And Patrick would have to help -- in whatever way.
"I don't know this word," the elf squeeked while reading Patrick's homework. "Get me a dictionary. No, what's even better. Look up the word and sound it out by each letter."
When it came to math, Patrick was out of luck. "What are times tables?" the elf shrieked.
"We elves never need that. And addition and subtraction and division and fractions? Here, sit down beside me, you simply must guide me."
Elves know nothing of human history, to them it's a mystery. So the little elf, already a shouter, just got louder "Go to the library, I need books. More and more books. And you can help me read them too."
As a matter of fact every day in every way that little elf was a nag! Patrick was working harder than ever and was it a drag! He was staying up nights, had never felt so weary, was going to school with his eyes puffed and bleary.
Finally the last day of school arrived and the elf was free to go. As for homework, there was no more, so he quietly and slyly slipped out the back door.
Patrick got his A's; his classmates were amazed; his teachers smiled and were full of praise. And his parents? They wondered what had happened to Patrick. He was now the model kid. Cleaned his room, did his chores, was cheerful, never rude, like he had developed a whole new attitude.
You see, in the end Patrick still thought he'd made that tiny man do all his homework. But I'll share a secret, just between you and me. It wasn't the elf; Patrick had done it himself!

The Ant and the Dove
The Ant and the Dove
AN ANT went to the bank of a river to quench its thirst, and
being carried away by the rush of the stream, was on the point of
drowning. A Dove sitting on a tree overhanging the water plucked
a leaf and let it fall into the stream close to her. The Ant
climbed onto it and floated in safety to the bank. Shortly
afterwards a birdcatcher came and stood under the tree, and laid
his lime-twigs for the Dove, which sat in the branches. The Ant,
perceiving his design, stung him in the foot. In pain the
birdcatcher threw down the twigs, and the noise made the Dove
take wing.

The Fisherman and the Goldfish
Once upon the time, there was a fisherman. He lived with his wife in a very shabby hut
beside the sea. They were very, very poor.
One day, the fisherman went fishing and caught a goldfish. But the goldfish could talk,
“Please let me go! I’ll reward you.”
“Oh, my God?” cried the fisherman, “Don’t worry. I have no wish to eat a talking fish.”
So he puts it into the water.
The fisherman went home and told his wife about it. She became very angry.
“How foolish you are!” she said, “Look at the hut. Go back to the sea and tell the fish
to give me a cottage.”
So the fisherman went down to the beach.
“What’s the matter?” asked the fish.
“My wife wants to cottage.” said the fisherman.
“Don’t worry, she will have it.”
So the fisherman’s wife had her cottage.
But after a few days, she became tired of it. “Tell the fish to give me a palace.” she
said. Then the fisherman went back to the beach again. And the fisherman’s wife had her
wish granted and had a palace.
But she soon got tried of it, too. “Ask the fish to be my servant, and I want to be a
queen.”
This time, the fish got angry. It said nothing and swam away.
The fisherman waited and waited, but the goldfish didn’t come back. When he went back home,
he found that his wife was again sitting in their old shabby hut.

(Emma贴心代班)蚂蚁和蚂蚱-The Ant and the Grasshopper
One summer day, a lazy grasshopper was chirping and sitting and playing games, just as he
did every day. A hard-working ant passed by, carrying a huge leaf that he was taking back to the ant's nest.
The grasshopper said to the ant,
"All you ants do is work all day.
You should be more like me and play, play, play!"
The ant replied,
"I'm storing food for the winter season.
You should be working, for just the same reason.
What will you eat when the weather gets cold?
How will you feed your hungry household?"
The grasshopper laughed,
"All you ants do is work and worry.
Slow down, don't be in such a hurry.
Just look around, there's plenty of food,
Don't give me advice, that's just plain rude."
The ant kept working, the grasshopper kept playing, and winter soon came.
The ant had prepared for the winter and had just enough food stored in the nest to last through the cold, harsh weather.
Now that winter had arrived, the grasshopper couldn't find any food, and soon became very hungry. But he soon remembered the hard-working ant he had made fun of during the summer.
The grasshopper went to the ant's nest and asked for food .
The ant, who was still busy keeping the food clean and dry, said,
"I toiled to save food for the winter freeze,
while you spent the summer playing in ease.
I stored just enough food for the winter, it's true,
But I can't feed you all winter, or I'll starve too."
The ant gave the grasshopper a few crumbs, but the grasshopper was cold, miserable, and hungry all winter. The next summer, the grasshopper worked hard to store food for the upcoming winter. That next winter, grasshopper was well fed and happy!
He had learned to think ahead and plan for the future.

The Boy Who Cried Wolf
There was once a shepherd boy who grew bored as he sat on the hillside watching the village sheep. To amuse himself, he cried out, "Wolf! Wolf! There's a wolf chasing the sheep!"
The villagers came running up the hill to help the boy drive the wolf away. But when they arrived at the top, there was no wolf in sight. The boy laughed at the sight of their angry faces.
"You shouldn't cry 'wolf', shepherd boy," the villagers said, "when there is no wolf!" Then they went grumbling back down the hill.
Later, the boy sang out again, "Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is chasing the sheep!" And to his naughty delight, the villagers all came running up the hill again to help him scare the wolf away.
But when the villagers saw there was no wolf, they said to the boy, "Save it for when something is actually wrong! Don't cry 'wolf' when there's NO wolf!"
But the boy just grinned and watched them go grumbling down the hill once more.
Later, he saw a REAL wolf prowling about his flock. Alarmed, he leaped to his feet and called out as loudly as he could, "Wolf! Wolf!"
But the villagers thought he was trying to fool them again, and so they didn't come.
At sunset, everyone wondered why the shepherd boy hadn't returned to the village with their sheep. They went up the hill to find the boy, and saw that he was crying.
"There was really a wolf this time! The flock has scattered! I cried out, 'Wolf!' Why didn't you come?”
An old man tried to comfort him as they walked back to the village.
"We'll help you look for the sheep in the morning," he said, putting his arm around the boy's shoulders. "Nobody believes a liar...even when he's telling the truth!"

The Lion and the Mouse
Once when a Lion was asleep a little Mouse began running up and down upon him; this soon wakened the Lion, who placed his huge paw upon him, and opened his big jaws to swallow him. "Pardon, O King," cried the little Mouse: "forgive me this time, I shall never forget it: who knows but what I may be able to do you a turn some of these days?" The Lion was so tickled at the idea of the Mouse being able to help him, that he lifted up his paw and let him go.
Some time after the Lion was caught in a trap, and the hunters who desired to carry him alive to the King, tied him to a tree while they went in search of a waggon to carry him on. Just then the little Mouse happened to pass by, and seeing the sad plight in which the Lion was, went up to him and soon gnawed away the ropes that bound the King of the Beasts. "Was I not right?" said the little Mouse.

The Hare and the Tortoise
The Hare was once boasting of his speed before the other animals. "I have never yet been beaten," said he, "when I put forth my full speed. I challenge any one here to race with me."
The Tortoise said quietly, "I accept your challenge."
"That is a good joke," said the Hare; "I could dance round you all the way."
"Keep your boasting till you've beaten," answered the Tortoise. "Shall we race?"
So a course was fixed and a start was made. The Hare darted almost out of sight at once, but soon stopped and, believing that the Tortoise could never catch him, lay down by the wayside to have a nap. The Tortoise never for a moment stopped, but went on with a slow but steady pace straight to the end of the course.
When the Hare awoke from his nap, he saw the Tortoise just near the winning-post. The Hare ran as fast as he could, but it was too late. He saw the Tortoise had reached the goal. Then said the Tortoise:
"Slow and steady wins the race."

The Princess and the Pea
There was once a prince, and he wanted a princess, but then she must be a real Princess. He travelled right around the world to find one, but there was always something wrong. There were plenty of princesses, but whether they were real princesses he had great difficulty in discovering; there was always something which was not quite right about them. So at last he had come home again, and he was very sad because he wanted a real princess so badly.
One evening there was a terrible storm; it thundered and lightninged and the rain poured down in torrents; indeed it was a fearful night.
In the middle of the storm somebody knocked at the town gate, and the old King himself went to open it.
It was a princess who stood outside, but she was in a terrible state from the rain and the storm. The water streamed out of her hair and her clothes; it ran in at the top of her shoes and out at the heel, but she said that she was a real princess.
‘Well we shall soon see if that is true,’ thought the old Queen, but she said nothing. She went into the bedroom, took all the bed clothes off and laid a pea on the bedstead: then she took twenty mattresses and piled them on top of the pea, and then twenty feather beds on top
of the mattresses. This was where the princess was to sleep that night. In the morning they asked her how she slept.
‘Oh terribly bad!’ said the princess. ‘I have hardly closed my eyes the whole night! Heaven knows what was in the bed. I seemed to be lying upon some hard thing, and my whole body is black and blue this morning. It is terrible!’
They saw at once that she must be a real princess when she had felt the pea through twenty mattresses and twenty feather beds. Nobody but a real princess could have such a delicate skin.
So the prince took her to be his wife, for now he was sure that he had found a real princess, and the pea was put into the Museum, where it may still be seen if no one has stolen it.
Now this is a true story.

Once upon a time, there were three bears living in the forest, Papa bear, Mama bear and Baby bear. One day, Mama bear made some delicious porridge for breakfast. but the porridge was too hot, so the three bears decided to go out for a walk. There was a little girl named Goldilocks, who lived not far away from the forest. She went for a walk in the forest. Pretty soon, she came upon a house. She knocked and, when no one answered, she walked right in.
At the table in the kitchen, there were three bowls of porridge. Goldilocks was hungry. She tasted the porridge from the first bowl.
"This porridge is too hot!" she exclaimed.
So, she tasted the porridge from the second bowl.
"This porridge is too cold," she said
So, she tasted the last bowl of porridge.
"Ahhh, this porridge is just right," she said happily and she ate it all up.
After she'd eaten the three bears' breakfasts she decided she was feeling a little tired. So, she walked into the living room where she saw three chairs. Goldilocks sat in the first chair to rest her feet.
"This chair is too big!" she exclaimed.
So she sat in the second chair.
"This chair is too big, too!" she whined.
So she tried the last and smallest chair.
"Ahhh, this chair is just right," she sighed. But just as she settled down into the chair to rest, it broke into pieces!
Goldilocks was very tired by this time, so she went upstairs to the bedroom. She lay down in the first bed, but it was too hard. Then she lay in the second bed, but it was too soft. Then she lay down in the third bed and it was just right. Goldilocks fell asleep.
As she was sleeping, the three bears came home.
"Someone's been eating my porridge," growled the Papa bear.
"Someone's been eating my porridge," said the Mama bear.
"Someone's been eating my porridge and they ate it all up!" cried the Baby bear.
"Someone's been sitting in my chair," growled the Papa bear.
"Someone's been sitting in my chair," said the Mama bear.
"Someone's been sitting in my chair and they've broken it all to pieces," cried the Baby bear.
They decided to look around some more and when they got upstairs to the bedroom, Papa bear growled, "Someone's been sleeping in my bed,"
"Someone's been sleeping in my bed, too" said the Mama bear.
"Someone's been sleeping in my bed and she's still there!" exclaimed Baby bear.
Just then, Goldilocks woke up and saw the three bears. She screamed, "Help!" And she jumped up and ran out of the room. Goldilocks ran down the stairs, opened the door, and ran away into the forest. And she never returned to the home of the three bears.

The Story of Nian
Once upon a time, there was a fierce monster named Nian. Nian had sharp horns on its head and lived deep down in the sea. On the eve of the New Year, Nian would come up from sea and eat the villagers. People were so scared that they all would hide in the mountains every New Year’s Eve.
One year, ther came an old man with a long beard. The village was in chaos for everyone was going to rush to the mountain and hide. No one paid any attention to this old man but one kindly grandmother who gave him a little food and told him to leave. “Today is New Year’s Eve and the moster Nian will soon coming. Hurry—go and hide in the mountains!”
But when the old man heard this news, he just smiled and said “Don’t worry, I will stay at your house tonight and I will drive away Nian!” The good—hearted grandmother could not convince him and she left by herself.
At midnight, Nian came to the village. Wagging its horns, it searched the village for someone to eat. When it came to the good-hearted grandmother’s house, it found red paper on the door and every room lit brightly. Seeing this Nian trembled all over with fear. Suddenly, there was the sound of crashing thunder from the courtyard. Nian stepped back several paces. Just then, the door opened. The old man walked out, completely dressed in red. Nian fled at the sight.
People hiding in the mountain were very happy to see that Nian had run away. They went back to the village and asked the old man, “What magic did you use to drive away Nian?” The old man said, “I did not use any magic. I just know that Nian is afraid of red, light, and thunder. So when it saw the red paper and the lights and heard the firecrackers, it just ran away.Next year when it comes again, you can use these things to drive it away.”
Since then, people get together and have a family reunion on New year’s Eve. They put red couplets on the door, wear red clothes, set off firecrackers and keep the house lit up all night long. This custom has spread over the country and become the grandest festival in China.

Meanwhile the wolf ran straight to the grandmother’s house and knocked at the door.
’Who is there?’
’Little Red-Cap,’ replied the wolf. ’She is bringing cake and wine; open the door.’
’Lift the latch,’ called out the grandmother, ’I am too weak, and cannot get up.’
The wolf lifted the latch, the door sprang open, and without saying a word he went straight to the grandmother’s bed, and devoured her. Then he put on her clothes, dressed himself in her cap laid himself in bed and drew the curtains.
Little Red-Cap, however, had been running about picking flowers, and when she had gathered so many that she could carry no more, she remembered her grandmother, and set out on the way to her.
She was surprised to find the cottage-door standing open, and when she went into the room, she had such a strange feeling that she said to herself: ’Oh dear! how uneasy I feel today, and at other times I like being with grandmother so much.’ She called out: ’Good morning,’ but received no answer; so she went to the bed and drew back the curtains. There lay her grandmother with her cap pulled far over her face, and looking very strange.
’Oh! grandmother,’ she said, ’what big ears you have!’
’The better to hear you with, my child,’ was the reply.
’But, grandmother, what big eyes you have!’ she said.
’The better to see you with, my dear.’
’But, grandmother, what large hands you have!’
’The better to hug you with.’
’Oh! but, grandmother, what a terrible big mouth you have!’
’The better to eat you with!’
And scarcely had the wolf said this, than with one bound he was out of bed and swallowed up Red-Cap.
When the wolf had appeased his appetite, he lay down again in the bed, fell asleep and began to snore very loud. The huntsman was just passing the house, and thought to himself: ’How the old woman is snoring! I must just see if she wants anything.’ So he went into the room, and when he came to the bed, he saw that the wolf was lying in it. ’Do I find you here, you old sinner!’ said he. ’I have long sought you!’
Then just as he was going to fire at him, it occurred to him that the wolf might have devoured the grandmother, and that she might still be saved, so he did not fire, but took a pair of scissors, and began to cut open the stomach of the sleeping wolf. When he had made two snips, he saw the little Red-Cap shining, and then he made two snips more, and the little girl sprang out, crying: ’Ah, how frightened I have been! How dark it was inside the wolf’; and after that the aged grandmother came out alive also, but scarcely able to breathe. Red-Cap, however, quickly fetched great stones with which they filled the wolf’s belly, and when he awoke, he wanted to run away, but the stones were so heavy that he collapsed at once, and fell dead.
Then all three were delighted. The huntsman drew off the wolf’s skin and went home with it; the grandmother ate the cake and drank the wine which Red-Cap had brought, and revived, but Red-Cap thought to herself: ’As long as I live, I will never by myself leave the path, to run into the wood, when my mother has forbidden me to do so.’

Once upon a time there was a dear little girl who was loved by everyone who looked at her, but most of all by her grandmother, and there was nothing that she would not have given to the child. Once she gave her a little cap of red velvet, which suited her so well that she would never wear anything else; so she was always called 'Little Red- Cap'.
One day her mother said to her: 'Come, Little Red-Cap, here is a piece of cake and a bottle of wine; take them to your grandmother, she is ill and weak, and they will do her good. Set out before it gets hot, and when you are going, walk nicely and quietly and do not run off the path, or you may fall and break the bottle, and then your grandmother will get nothing; and when you go into her room, don’t forget to say, “Good morning”, and don’t peep into every corner before you do it.’ 'I will take great care,' said Little Red-Cap to her mother, and gave her hand on it.
The grandmother lived out in the wood, half a league from the village, and just as Little Red-Cap entered the wood, a wolf met her. Red-Cap did not know what a wicked creature he was, and was not at all afraid of him.
'Good day, Little Red-Cap,' said he.
'Thank you kindly, wolf.'
'Whither away so early, Little Red-Cap?'
'To my grandmother’s.'
'What have you got in your apron?'
'Cake and wine; yesterday was baking-day, so poor sick grandmother is to have something good, to make her stronger.'
'Where does your grandmother live, Little Red-Cap?'
'A good quarter of a league farther on in the wood; her house stands under the three large oak-trees, the nut-trees are just below; you surely must know it,’ replied Little Red-Cap.
The wolf thought to himself: 'What a tender young creature! what a nice plump mouthful–she will be better to eat than the old woman. I must act craftily, so as to catch both.' So he walked for a short time by the side of Little Red-Cap, and then he said: 'See, Little Red-Cap, how pretty the flowers are about here–why do you not look round? I believe, too, that you do not hear how sweetly the little birds are singing; you walk gravely along as if you were going to school, while everything else out here in the wood is merry.'
Little Red-Cap raised her eyes, and when she saw the sunbeams dancing here and there through the trees, and pretty flowers growing everywhere, she thought: ’Suppose I take grandmother a fresh nosegay; that would please her too. It is so early in the day that I shall still get there in good time’; and so she ran from the path into the wood to look for flowers. And whenever she had picked one, she fancied that she saw a still prettier one farther on, and ran after it, and so got deeper and deeper into the wood.

Three Little Pigs
Once upon a time there were three little pigs and the time came for them to leave home and seek their fortunes.
Before they left, their mother told them " Whatever you do , do it the best that you can because that's the way to get along in the world.
The first little pig built his house out of straw because it was the easiest thing to do.
The second little pig built his house out of sticks. This was a little bit stronger than a straw house.
The third little pig built his house out of bricks.
One night the big bad wolf, who dearly loved to eat fat little piggies, came along and saw the first little pig in his house of straw. He said "Let me in, Let me in, little pig or I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in!"
"Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin", said the little pig.
But of course the wolf did blow the house in and ate the first little pig.
The wolf then came to the house of sticks.
"Let me in ,Let me in little pig or I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in" "Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin", said the little pig. But the wolf blew that house in too, and ate the second little pig.
The wolf then came to the house of bricks.
" Let me in , let me in" cried the wolf
"Or I'll huff and I'll puff till I blow your house in"
"Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin" said the pigs.
Well, the wolf huffed and puffed but he could not blow down that brick house.
But the wolf was a sly old wolf and he climbed up on the roof to look for a way into the brick house.
The little pig saw the wolf climb up on the roof and lit a roaring fire in the fireplace and placed on it a large kettle of water.
When the wolf finally found the hole in the chimney he crawled down and KERSPLASH right into that kettle of water and that was the end of his troubles with the big bad wolf.
The next day the little pig invited his mother over . She said "You see it is just as I told you. The way to get along in the world is to do things as well as you can." Fortunately for that little pig, he learned that lesson. And he just lived happily ever after!

Charlie and The Horse
Charlie was a rich boy who had more toys than you could imagine. His family had a lot of money, and whenever he liked something, they would buy it for him.
In reality, then, he had no idea what things cost, and wouldn't bother to take care of what he had. Nor did he realise how difficult it was for other children to get toys like the ones he had.
A time came, though, when he was so used to all his toys and various stuff, that he began to want something different. One of his uncles found a fine horse and he gave it to Charlie, as something unusual. Charlie was very excited at having a horse. He learned to ride, and was constantly on his horse, going here and there.
However, he treated the horse just as badly as he did all his other toys, and it soon started looking neglected and sick. For the first time in his life Charlie became truly worried. He loved the horse, and the fact that his family had offered to swap it for a new one meant nothing to him.
One day, while in the countryside, he saw a girl with a horse. The girl looked very poor, but the horse seemed happy and looked great.
Wondering how she had managed this, Charlie secretly followed them, watching everything they did. First he followed them through the forest, where he saw that she never used the whip, and never hit the horse. This was the opposite of what Charlie had done to his horse, right from day one. Then they came to the stable, and as soon as they arrived the girl fed and watered the horse. Then she carefully groomed it. Charlie was surprised. He'd never done any of that for his horse. He saw that the girl spent a lot of time giving care and attention to her horse, and that she did it all on her own. This had never entered into Charlie's mind; he had always been too preoccupied with playing and having fun to look after the horse.
Charlie wanted to change and become like the girl. As no one had shown him how to do this, he went over to her and asked her to teach him how to look after his horse. After her initial surprise, she happily accepted. With her he learned how to put care and effort into things, and that if you did so you enjoyed them much more. He learned that you could be much happier with only a few special things that you truly cared for and looked after, than with thousands of toys that were only good for a short time and were then thrown aside.
As a result, Charlie gave up constantly asking for new toys. Grateful to his friend, he gave her many of his own toys, and more to the children of the village. He only kept those few toys he really liked. And, just as he had learned with the horse, he set himself to repairing and caring for those toys, so he could really enjoy playing with them.

Horsey Horsey Don't You Stop
Horsey, horsey don't you stop
let your feet go clippety clop,
So when your tail goes swish
and your wheels go round,
giddy up, we're homeward bound.
Horsey horsey on your way
We’ve got a journey of many a day
So let your tail go swish
and your wheels go round,
giddy up, we're homeward bound."
We ain’t in a hurry
We ain’t in a flurry
And we don’t go tearing down the road
We ain’t in a hustle
We ain’t in a bustle
And we ain’t got a very heavy load
so
I'm gonna take my horse and buggy
I'm gonna travel all around
I wanna hear those feet go clip clop
I wanna see those wheels go round
Horsey, horsey don't you stop
Let your feet go clippety clop,
So let your tail go swish
and your wheels go round,
giddy up, we're homeward bound.

Round Birds Can't Fly
Round Bird is not like other birds. He has a big round body with little wings. He cannot fly but he wants to play with the other birds more than anything.
Everyday and in many ways, he tries to fly. Then he tries again. But nothing worked. Then he thought it might be better to use the tree.
Round bird is determined to fly.
It is very hard for a little bird to do, but he climbs the tree! He sits on the branch and takes a deep breath before…He Jumps! And flaps his wings. And he flaps some more, but they don’t work!
Good thing he made sure there was a pile of leaves! He scrambles out of the leaves and sits and thinks a bit. Atop his perch round bird sits and thinks.
He now knows that even though he wishes hard and tries hard too, there are just some things some birds aren’t meant to do…
The challenge for round bird, then, is to find those special things that only special birds can do.
