They also discussed how grooves also got re-worked a bit to help each player and the importance of custom fitting. For more on the Titleist Vokey SM9 wedge, read below or check them out online here. MULTIPLE CHOICE SM9 wedges offer several loft, grind and bounce combinations Titleist’s Vokey SM9 wedges help golfers improve in the three areas that Master Craftsman Bob Vokey says are key to great wedge play. Those include shot versatility, distance and trajectory control, and maximum spin. To get the job done, the SM9 offers the ultimate in optionality with Titleist’s most complete lineup of loft, grind and bounce combinations. Versatile, accurate, and forgiving, the SM9 is available in six grind options and 23 different models ranging in lofts from 46-62 degrees for precision fitting. “It sounds simple, but having the correct wedge and knowing when to use it has a direct impact on scoring,” said Vokey. “ The most important thing for golfers at every level is to know when and where to use the variety of wedges in their bag. That can be achieved by being properly fit based on swing and style of play, and understanding the roles for each.” The SM9 also features sharper grooves in the club face for maximum spin, along with finish options such as Tour Chrome, Brushed Steel, and Jet Black. Cobra LTDx – Jose Miraflor – #351

On this installment of the Worldwide Golf Shops INSIDER Podcast, we talk with the VP of Marketing at Cobra Golf, Jose Miraflor. Jose talks about his role at Cobra Golf, the all-new Cobra LTDx family, and takes a deep dive into the tech behind it! Cobra LTDx Drivers Cobra LTDx Driver The LTDx driver lineup consists of three models, the LTDx, LTDx LS, and LTDx MAX. Each model in the lineup hosts unique features and performance benefits for a different range of golfers. The LTDx driver is the "built for all golfers model". Its unique design features the perfect balance of front and back weighting, making it playable for all golfers that want the ultimate combination of low spin and stability. The LTDx LS or "Low Spin" driver is designed for Tour players and better amateurs seeking low spin, fast speed and workability. A traditional aerodynamic shape features forward-biased heel and toe adjustable weighting, and a back weight for added forgiveness. The LTDx MAX driver is built for golfers that struggle with slicing the ball. It shares the Xtreme distance and forgiveness of the standard LTDx model with added heel weighting to provide draw bias for those that need it. The LTDx MAX driver is also offered in a women's model and highlights the same features. Cobra LTDx LS Fairway A Cobra Fairway for You Similar to the driver offerings, the LTDx Fairways are offered in LTDx, LTDx LS and the LTDx MAX. The determining factors of which model is best for your game are identical to the driver lineup. However, there are features in the fairways that make them unique. The MAX and LS models feature adjustable weighting that can help golfers fine tune shot shape bias. The LTDx MAX allows an adjustable Draw bias while the LS allows an adjustable draw or fade bias. The standard LTDx has a fixed back weight that promotes higher ball flight. Like previous Cobra fairway lineups, the LTDx lineup features progressive rails that help improve turf interactions on steeper swings. One of the more prominent features that benefits golfers of all levels is the H.O.T (Highly Optimized Topology) Face Technology. H.O.T utilizes A.I to design 15 HOT zones to increase ball speed and smash factor across the face. Cobra LTDx Hybrid - Women's Standard and ONE LENGTH LTDx Hybrids Rounding out the woods family is the LTDx Hybrid (men's and women's). The LTDx Hybrid is designed for pure distance, high launch, and straight ball flights. This hybrid is truly built for golfers of all skill levels. Like the fairway woods, the LTDx hybrid also features H.O.T. face technology along with the Baffler Rail system. This rail system is slightly different in that it helps promote better turf interactions in tight lies, thick rough, and even bunkers. The LTDx Hybrids are also available in the One Length for golfers who have adapted the One Length system. Cobra LTDx Irons Cobra took the design of the LTDx irons to the next level and incorporated a multi-layer PWR-COR™ weighting system in its construction. The PWR-COR weighting system lowers CG, and promotes maximum flexion of the body, sole and face for peak ball speed and distance. The LTDx irons fit the category of game improvement for those higher handicap players. Occasionally you will see a lower handicap play a LTDx long iron as a utility because of the stronger lofting and explosiveness off the face. The LTDx irons also have a One Length option available. TaylorMade Stealth – Tomo Bystedt – #349

On this installment of the Worldwide Golf Shops INSIDER Podcast, we talk the all-new TaylorMade Stealth lineup with Tomo Bystedt, Senior Director of Product Creation of Sales at TaylorMade Golf. Tomo talks about everything that went into creating the new Stealth lineup, the evolution of the carbon face technology, tour feedback, and much more. You won't want to miss this! THE 20-YEAR JOURNEY TaylorMade’s engineering and research and development teams began exploring carbon faces in 2000, with the first prototype created in 2003 featuring a titanium cover. Six years later, research into a polymer cover began in hopes to improve launch conditions.  Then in 2012, a small-scale composite face production facility was built to support the 2013 launch of the limited-edition Japan-only Gloire Reserve driver. It served as a sign of readiness for this design platform and the progress of TaylorMade engineering. In 2016, new manufacturing techniques led to the first development of a 60-layer carbon face. Work on these new Stealth models began in earnest in 2018, some 18 years after the process began. In 2019, a state-of-the-art plant was commissioned and completed in 2021 to set the gold standard for high-volume production of composite parts. Every part of the process has been streamlined to reduce waste and increase efficiency. Simultaneously, additional facilities were constructed to bond the fully finished faces into castings. We arrive at today, 20 years later. TaylorMade ushers in the Carbonwood age. WHY CARBON? The goal of any new technology is to create a measurable performance improvement for TaylorMade customers. The 60 layers of carbon fiber in Stealth help do exactly that by providing more speed. The red carbon face – yes, the face is red – – delivers a higher COR and more precise face geometry through a lighter, but larger face. d TaylorMade Stealth Plus TaylorMade engineers took advantage of the lightweight carbon material by creating a 26g face, which is 40 percent lighter than a titanium face of equivalent size. Because of that weight savings, the face size of Stealth is 11 percent larger than SIM2 and SIM2 Max drivers and nearly 20 percent larger than the 2020 SIM driver.  The weight savings and larger face size made possible by the 60X Carbon Twist Face delivered a stunning ball speed increase during player testing when comparing Stealth Plus and Stealth to the 2021 SIM2 and SIM2 Max drivers at better player swing speeds, unlocking a whole new level of driver performance. NANOTEXTURE FACE TECHNOLOGY TaylorMade Stealth Carbonwood Face TaylorMade’s 20-year journey to change the face of golf was made possible by an innovative nanotexture cover that sits on top of the 60 layers of carbon. The nanotexture cover is made from a thin polyurethane layer that creates a strong and flexible striking surface which serves to optimize distance based on improving launch conditions in both dry and wet conditions.  This revolutionary technology creates the face texture needed to produce the ideal amount of friction between the face and the ball at impact to reduce spin at impact in dry conditions. The nanotexture face also features full-face scorelines designed to provide improved spin performance in wet conditions.  The combination of the nanotexture cover, Twist Face® and TaylorMade’s ultra-flexible Thru-Slot Speed Pocket™ was engineered to produce forgiveness on strikes across the face.  SHAPED FOR SPEED   Despite a larger face, clubhead speed does not decline with Stealth. The asymmetric Inertia Generator creates advanced aerodynamics at the most critical phase of the swing – from the downswing to the moment right before impact.  This breakthrough design optimizes clubhead speed, while also allowing additional weight to be placed at the rear of the club to encourage higher MOI, high launch and improved forgiveness.   HOW DOES IT SOUND?

Callaway Rogue ST – Glenn Hickey – #348

On this installment of the Worldwide Golf Shops INSIDER Podcast, we talk the all-new Callaway Rogue ST lineup with Glenn Hickey, Executive Vice President of Sales at Callaway Golf. Glenn speaks on his role with the company, the in's and outs of the new Callaway Rogue ST lineup, immediate feedback from the tour pros, and the technology behind the lineup. Callaway Rogue ST Driver - Available Models Similar to previous lineups in the Callaway family, the Callaway Rogue ST has improved off of its success with the AI systems and patented Jailbreak technology. In addition to the technology, the Callaway Rogue ST lineup has a driver for golfers of all skill levels. The four driver models include the Rogue ST Max D, Rogue ST Max, Rogue ST LS, and the Rogue ST Triple Diamond. The Callaway Driver that is Best for You Curious which Callaway Rogue ST Driver is best for you? Custom fitting can get you into the right club for your game but here is a general breakdown of the Rogue ST driver lineup; For golfers that slice the ball, there is the Rogue ST Max D. Additional weight positioned at the heel of the driver helps the toe move faster through the ball at impact, promoting a draw. Rogue ST Max is the driver that fits most golfers and is the most forgiving of the lineup. For the better players there is the Rogue ST LS or "low spin." The LS model does a great job taking the left side out of play (for right handed golfers) and suits better players who like to play that baby cut. Rounding out the driver family is the Rogue ST Triple Diamond. The Triple Diamond is for the best of the best golfers and features a 450cc Low spin head made for precision optimization. Fairways, Hybrids and Irons Aside from the Rogue ST Driver lineup, the Callaway Rogue ST Fairway and Hybrid lineups have seen some tremendous enhancements. The AI integration on the Rogue ST Fairways and Hybrids has generated massive improvements in performance. Some of the results include increased balls speeds to improved shot dispersion. Like the Rogue ST drivers, the Rogue ST fairways come in three offering with similar features described in the driver category above; Rogue ST Max, Rogue ST Max D, and Rogue ST LS. Keeping up with the theme of a club for everyone, the Rogue ST Irons lineup features four new irons. The Rogue ST Max, Max OS, Max OS Lite, and Pro Irons. Each model within the iron lineup has features geared toward specific golfers. Rogue ST Max Irons have refined game-improvement shaping and the strongest lofts in the Rogue ST family. They fit a wide range of golfers who want speed, forgiveness, and all-around iron performance. Like the Rogue ST Max Irons, the Rogue ST Max OS Irons maintain the Max features. They however promote a high launch, and have a wider soles, and enhanced offset. They’re specifically designed for mid-to-high handicap golfers looking to get the most out of their irons. Rogue ST Max OS Lite irons are a lighter version of the Max OS version. They featur more loft, lighter shafts and lighter swing weights. The low-to-mid single digit handicap offering in the lineup is the Rogue ST Pro. This features all the best technologies of Rogue ST, in a hollow body construction and a compact players shape. Marc Leishman Podcast #336 – Callaway Golf

Who might you think if we hinted that this podcast guest was a professional with 12 wins internationally, including 5 on the PGA Tour and a second place in the Open Championship? That's easy. We hope you enjoy this great conversation with one of the truly nice guys in the game. Special thanks to our friends at Callaway Golf for making this interview happen.

Before we get started on the product itself, because this is really something that's off the charts.  Cool, yeah, tell us a little bit about your background how this whole thing got started because it's really taken off like gangbusters.  Yeah, so you know we originated in the E Commerce world learning kind of selling products on Amazon a few years back and decided to make a try. But and you know it, all kind of started with or in buying a cutting mat off Amazon and just saying like hey, I know I can make this better, you know. And he had some ideas in his head. He you know was a high school golfer played competitively. And you know, putting was something that he only struggled with an wanted to get better. And there wasn't really anything out there that filled that void.  So you know, we started with this low budget Amazon product that you know we started prototyping coming up.  Designs and improvements and sourcing different materials, whether it be for the the base or the the map itself, concepting the kind of training lines that you see now, and you know, putting that all together until we got to a point where we were comfortable putting this product up for sale. And you know something we were excited about. So you know, just like anything that was kind of a passion project started with just, you know, two guys that like golf and you know wanted to see in an industry that they were passionate about and you know found an area that we thought we could do well with and and succeed so. You know, after that it was really. Yeah, we put up a crude Shopify site. I think we've you know, built it simple.  Started reaching out really on Instagram to PGA Tour Pros and influencers.  Just trying to get the product out there in front of as many eyeballs and people as possible.  We were fortunate to get responses from, you know, some prominent PGA Tour pros that gave us their address and I think our first one was Smiley Kaughman, which.  You know he's had a little bit of a tough go as of late, but you know, at the time he's, you know, super cool big following on Instagram. He's had it and gave us some positive feedback and then snowballed from there with with other names.  But yeah,  you know I I have to look at this long list.  PGA Tour pros and influencers who are telling us like hey, this thing is great and I like it so.  Yeah,

Hello Everyone.  Thanks so much for tuning in today. So glad that you did, whether you're a first time listener.  Longtime subscriber or somewhere in the middle.  Doesn't matter.  Just glad that you joined us, especially so today.  Our special guest joins us from just outside Atlanta, GA.  He is the President and CEO of Bridgestone Golf, Mr Dan Murphy. Dan. Thanks so much for joining us.  It's been a long time man.  Yeah.  It's been a long time. It's a great honor to be here in talking to you. Thank you. Yeah, you wanna see how long it's been? You hooked us up with Lee Trevino back in the day and that was episode 113 that was over.  200 episodes ago and I remember because Lee was saying it had the number 13 in it and he was like Tom, Tom. That's unlucky. Number 13. Why are you giving me this episode, you know?  He's he's a character.  I bet he I bet he entertained you that day, this.  Oh, certainly one of the one of the Mount Rushmore interviews of all time, but let's talk about you, Dan, for our listeners who may not know you've got a long history in the game in the history with Bridgestone.  Tell us about about your life in the business and then your role at Bridgestone.  Wow, well.  Golf the golf business started for me.  In the mid 90s I worked for a while at Maxfli Golf, remember Max Line and the good old good old days, and then when they kind of merged in with tailor made it went out there for a short time. But the West Coast wasn't really for me and then I came back in 2004. Kind of had my big break in the golf business which was to come to Bridgestone.  Which marketed their brand under precept at the time.  And they really wanted to take the preset. Brandon and all the great technology and the great products that they had and then market them under the Bridgestone brand, and so that was kind of my baby was to launch the bridge. Don't brand in 2005 and it was good. You know, we had a great run, really got off to a.  A big start.  We got the number two.  We were selling more golf balls and that was really our focus.  More golf balls than Nike at the time, or TaylorMade or Callaway when we were rocking right along and then.  But I I kind of had an entrepreneurial itch. This brings us all the way up to 2015 and left the company for a little while.  And you know, pursued some other things. And then I needed the company and the company needed me and they asked me back to come back in 2018. So I've been here for coming up on three years and it's it's been a great three years, but a wild ride. As you can imagine that.  Hey Dan, when I think of Bridgestone, I guess I think.  One one of the top ball manufacturers in the world where the balls are.  Everyone can't say this made in the USA.  I think of golf balls for all levels of players going.  I mean, even with you know.  Obviously Tiger and Bryson and Matt Kuchar.  And then I think of a company that goes out of the way.  For golf ball fitting for the consumers to make sure they're fit for the right golf ball.  That those are just what I think of when I think of Bridgestone is that is that what you want me to think of is is.  It's rich markup.  Well, we want you to think of.  Obviously we make golf balls for the best players in the world, Tiger amongst them.  Bryson DeChambo has been very prevalent.  Freddie Couples the guy that I knew back from the maxfli days and when I got the bridge.  Down by the opportunity to have an Association with him with bridgestones, he's been with us for a long time.  Matt Kutcher.  And quite a few others.  And so yeah,

We were. Wearing out Microsoft Teams and zoom in just.  Like everybody else.  Before we get into clubs, take us back about 10 months or so.  When everything started, all this craziness hit. In the what you guys want to do 'cause it's been some it's been some weird time.  Yeah, yeah it was. It still is. You know this is still an issue in especially in California and and I think one of the things I'm most proud about is is we worked really hard to true all of this. Yeah, we're trying to run a business, but we're also first and foremost trying to keep people safe and our priorities all along has been the health and safety of. The of the team and.  And then the quality of what would we continue to produce and and then productivity?  But yeah, when when the governor issued that first stay at home order back in March, it was.  It was. Use some unique is the first time we've ever faced anything like that, we close the factory. You know that half our folks work in the factory and the other half out here work on everything else. You know, sales and marketing in the R&D team and the planners and then. But the factory was closed for about two months and when we opened back up, we had you.  Know this has started to pick up and they put you know considerably, and so that was a real challenge.  You know? Trying to run the factory and keeping people safe and but we we worked through it made it very clear what the rules were and and and so again, I'm really, really proud of that part of the business and then the other part was just how seamlessly the team transition to working remotely.  You know, we we we, I've told the story a couple times this week but we actually finished.  The TSI driver design during the shutdown isn't working with the new material in that driver is called ATI 425 and.  Limited use of it.  And it's in the face, and face designs are pretty comp.  Created and just highly iterative process and and obviously you want to get it as as as fast as you can and still conforming and all that stuff and so we weren't done and so had to finish it.  We had to finish it remotely, which was really an amazing process and and.  Hats off to RIT team.  For getting everybody in April.  But anyway, it was.  It was really cool actually to see people come together like that and stay focused.  And really it was some of our best work.  Ironically, because the product came out fantastically well, so it was.  It's been wild from the shut down to the surge in the second half.  You know where where business was, you know was better than we thought.  Just there's just.  It's been an amazing and amazing here.  Yeah, the silver lining you coming together when you physically can't come together and pull the whole thing off.  That's that's amazing.  When we talk with Steve, it's always new clubs.  An odd number of years.

Please listen in on this very informative INSIDER Podcast. Podcast Transcript: Welcome to the worldwide golf Shops Insider Podcast. Episode 327. Hello everyone Tom Brassell here thanks so much for joining us. Our special guest today joins us courtesy of our friends at Cobra Puma Golf. He is the 2020 United States Open champion, Mr Bryson DeChambeau. Bryson. Thanks so much for joining us. I don't know about you, but I like the way that sounds 2020 US Open champion.  It has a good ring to it. Thank you.  Appreciate  You have me on so with a lot of fun.  I want to talk about the incredible year last year, but question our listeners like to hear is we all fell in love with this game somehow, you know, take us back to you know what you did.  Normally childhood somebody influenced. You talk about that briefly.  Yeah, my dad was a Professional golfer for a little while until he had me and he turned back to being an amateur, but I got to the golf course with him all the time and grew up around the game. Played a bunch of other sports, but we're really drew me into the game was How individualized it was and how you know it was outdoors and then you know it was in nature and love looking at trees and seeing birds and wind and all that.  I just loved nature in general and once I got a little bit older. I started watching golf films and watching Ben Hogan and I washed out part how hard he worked and you know my parents always talked to me about hard work and dedication and whatnot, and I found a similarity there and once I saw his golf swing I just wanted to swing it as good as him and that kind of gave me the golf bug and from then on I've always been trying to pursue.  And you know, excellent as much as possible.  Well, you mentioned Mr Hogan.  Is that where the cap came from?  You got it. That is exactly where it came from.  So yeah, not too bad.  And then once I got to college too, you know at SMU Payne Stewart obviously went there and so it kind of worked out in that fashion too.  So it's a tribute to Hogan and paints it as well.  Let's go back to about.  This time last year, maybe a little past pricing 'cause you starting off a new season there. Everything is going well and then around the first round of The Players Championship our whole world comes unglued. I mean everything stops.  We don't know what safe is if it's safe to go outside if it's safe to hit balls.  Talk about what you did and what you were going through and those next few months, yeah?  It was an interesting time for sure.  I was very blessed to have a gym at home and I had a hitting simulator golf simulator in my house and I really thought, OK, how we're gonna be locked down for a substantial amount of time now.  How can I get some really good practice in.  And how can I do something with my body that will make a difference when I come back out and so from then on I started working out really hard every single day and getting a lot of strength and muscle size and mass.  And over the course of, you know, a few months I was able to change the transform my body, you know.  So once we got back out of quarantine and then Colonial started, it came back a different person with a whole new swing speed.  Yeah, it was kind of like Bryson 2.0 and we saw something totally different. You win at rocket mortgage. And. It was on display talk about that that was that was awesome.  Yeah, that was pretty cool moment for me.  It definitely showed that I could change and transform my body and still win.  Yeah, only only a few people in the course of this game of golf have done that and it was cool to see that and to be able to experience it.

Shop TaylorMade Golf's SIM 2 Family at www.worldwidegolfshops.com Podcast Transcript And welcome to the Worldwide golf Shops Insider Podcast episode 328.  Hello everyone Tom Brassell here.  Thanks so much for joining us. We're so glad that you did and today is a great day because we're joined with our good friend from out in TaylorMade Golf out in Carlsbad CA.  Mr Brian Brazzell,  Brian, David Abeles was singing your praises a couple episodes ago. We're so glad you're with us.  Can't wait to get started.  Yeah, it's awesome time.  Thanks for having me on.  Appreciate it. It's exciting times.  Yeah, well I'm looking at the TaylorMade website right now and it sure looks nice.  It’s the whole new family of products before you take us through it.  Why don't you kind of start with what went into this?  This is pretty Cool.  Well, yeah, I mean we we, you know we're looking at things really pretty far out.  Three to five years.  And you know, within two years we start to solidify what we might do.  And in this particular case what's unique about it is that we kind of had to to break it all apart, so to speak. Almost deconstruct. This July. However, to advance the performance and we started to look at things like hey, what about what material could be used for this part of the club and what process can we do to make that part?  And ultimately you know of course our goal is to just make these products perform better, make the driver go longer, straighter, farther, more forgiving. The things that all golfers need.  What but to do it in this case?  What was unique is that we kind of had to again deconstruct it. Work on the little parts, and then sort of put it back together, which is what what really you know is in the SIM 2.  You started with drivers. Let's go ahead and dive into there because there are three different drivers, but talk a little bit about what you guys did technology wise.  Well, of course you know we don't.  We build off of the things that we've done really well and SIM, of course radically changed the geometry.  The shape of the driver to improve the aerodynamics and improve that forgiveness.  And so we're getting we're getting more speed and getting more forgiveness on off center strikes.  But with SIM 2 again, we we now what was.  This titanium head with carbon on the Crown in this radical shape.  We kind of took that apart.  Took the back perimeter of the driver.  Detached it so to Speak.

Dave Neville Podcast #332 – Callaway EPIC Speed

Worldwide Golf Shops INSIDER PODCAST #332! In this installment, we chat with the Senior Director, Brand & Product Management - Callaway Golf, Mr. Dave Neville! Dave talks Callaway's new EPIC Speed! Please Enjoy this INSIDER Podcast. Callaway Epic Speed Driver What happens when the undisputed ball speed leader goes out and creates a NEW formula for speed that doesn’t even seem possible? The answer is.... you get the new Epic Speed, our fastest driver ever. Epic Speed is built on a simple equation that’s going to make a profound impact on the category. A.I. + Jailbreak + our new Speed Frame = more distance for every player. The future of driver technology and performance is here, and it’s about to change the industry forever. Extraordinary Ball Speed From NEW Jailbreak A.I. Speed Frame: Epic ball speeds start with our new A.I. Jailbreak Speed Frame. Previous Jailbreak designs stiffened the body in the vertical direction. By applying Artificial Intelligence, the new design improves stability in the horizontal and torsional direction as well. The result is exceptional ball speeds all across the face.Fast Ball Speed From A.I. Designed Flash Face SS21 : Our advanced A.I.-designed Flash Face promotes fast ball speeds across a more expansive area. Each face and each head geometry are uniquely optimized in Epic, and the super strength titanium promotes optimal speed, forgiveness, and spin robustness. This all results in a greater emphasis on center and off-center ball speeds. Our Fastest Driver Head From A Cyclone Aero Shape: This advanced aerodynamic head construction promotes lower drag for higher head speed and ball speed. The taller ribbon and flatter crown are engineered for a new shape that can help golfers generate more speed from their swing.Increased Forgiveness From Advanced Composite Design: Our proprietary Triaxial carbon covers a larger portion of the crown, leading to weight savings of over 18 grams vs. a titanium crown. Callaway engineers have redistributed that saved weight to enhance forgiveness versus previous Mavrik designs. An additional Triaxial carbon toe patch adds draw bias while saving weight to promote a powerful shot shape. John K Solheim Podcast #330 – PING G425

Worldwide Golf Shops INSIDER PODCAST #330! In this installment, we chat with the President of PING Golf, Mr. John K Solheim! John talks PING's NEW G425 Family of Drivers, Fairways, Hybrids, and Irons! Please Enjoy this INSIDER Podcast. Ping G425 Iron Set In a departure from recent iron models, PING’s experts re-engineered the face of the G425 iron by employing a metal-wood-style, variable face thickness(VFT)design. This greatly increases flexing for measurable ball speed gains that launch shots higher and farther with the stopping power to hold greens – a rare result with most of today’s distance-minded irons. In the process of creating the new face design, they developed a more compact head that sets a new standard for forgiveness for an iron its size. While shorter heel-to-toe than the G410 model, it boasts a 3% higher MOI due to mass savings from the new face geometry that have been re-allocated to the toe and hosel weights, which expands the perimeter weighting and greatly tightens dispersion. Extensive finite element analysis was used to help develop a multi-material cavity badge that covers more of the face to damp undesirable frequencies and ensure a superb feel and pleasing sound. The G425 irons feature a performance-improving, water-repelling hydropearl chrome finish. The grooves in the PW, UW, SW and LW are precision-milled to ensure control and touch into and around the greens. Multi-material construction: Hyper 17-4 stainless steel body, 3-piece badge (aluminum, ABS material, damping tape) and tungsten toe/shaft weightsAvailable in 10 color codes/lie angles:(Gold/4°flat, Brown/3°flat, Orange/2°flat, Red/1°flat, Black/std, Blue/1°upright, Green/2°upright, White/3°upright, Silver/4°upright, Maroon 5°upright)Stock steel shaft: PING AWT 2.0 (R, S, X). To achieve the new performance levels in the G425 Max, PING engineers combined key technologies from the G400 Max and G410 Plus. The resulting increase in MOI in the 460cc head comes mainly from a 26-gram tungsten movable weight, which is made possible by weight savings attributed to advancements in the driver’s dragonfly crown technology. It's that time of year we get to catch up with our good friend Chip Brewer out of Callaway Golf.  Chip, great to talk with you. I wish we could do it in person like we normally do every year, but not now. I don't know when it'll be but hopefully will turn the corner soon.  Chip Brewer:   Tom is great to have the opportunity to talk to you, virtual as it might be and. Get a year kicked off, talking about golf and equipment and some good news stories.  Tom Brassell:  Let's hit that Arrow back button and we used to call it rewind on VCRs, but people don't know what the rewind button is anymore, but let's arrow back to, you know. Last March when everything kind of went sideways, I think the Big East Basketball tournament stopped at halftime and The Players Championship got around then. Where were you when all that was going on and just kind of take us through what was going on with you and with Callaway back then.  Chip Brewer:  Holy smokes, you know I can remember it was. To like it was yesterday, Tom and it was like a, you know from where I was sitting. It was like a little bit of a slow motion trainwreck. You know we are global company and we had something going on in China and then China was shutting down a little bit and. You know that was inconvenient and we were feeling bad for them. But you know, no big deal and then it spread to Europe and you know I was hearing from our businesses over there and. Uh, before you know it. Shutdowns here and they cancel the the second round of The Players Championship.  The global lockdown and what just happened is what we were thinking about.  And analysts are calling me at that point and they're like well. How long can you last with zero revenues and? Right O revenues. How the hell do I know how? How Long I can last with zero revenues. I never Never thought about that.  You know we went into survival mode, be honest with you. We just didn't know where the bottom was when we're coming out of this, what it was, what it meant for our business, the world in general. Yeah, you know, Fast forward a few months and you know I'm proud of what the team did in terms of how we rallied around our business and our teams and various things we did to make sure Callaway survived and not only survive but thrive. And obviously, we're fortunate enough to be able to. Say we did that, you know.  Towards the mid and late part of the year and. Likely getting a little bit of a CoVid dividend from it, and as we've got new entrants and everything else so holy smokes what a what? A turn around and come back for the game of golf and the industry. It's likely to be positive for you know, a long period of time and we're seeing. Interesting growth like we've never seen before, so. If somebody could have told me that in March or April 1st, I wouldn't believe them so it wouldn't have done any good at all, but. It might, it might have saved me some Gray hairs or or so.  Tom Brassell:  Chip, what did you learn or what did you find out about your team or yourself or your company during this crazy time that you may not have known or maybe what did it confirm that you knew about your company?  Chip Brewer:  Well,

David, how are you my friend? David Abeles What a what? A crazy ride. This has been a rollercoaster Tom hasn't it? and yeah, it feels like we're still Dealing with it a bit here early in 2021, but I'm doing well. I appreciate having some time on The podcast is always and spending some time with all the fans of worldwide golf. So this this time of year is always an exciting one for me to have the opportunity to reengage with you and the team and share a few thoughts about golf and certainly TaylorMade. Tom Brassell Yeah, this is kind of our state of the Union. Let's turn the Clock back David. I mean, it was about what 10 months ago and Everything kind of hit. I think the Big East tournament got stopped at halftime and The Players Championship was going to take us back to what You were doing when all this happened and how it kind of started. David Abeles Yeah, you know, I'll even backtrack beyond ten months ago because it was March 13th or 14th on Friday when Jay Monahan and the PGA Tour suspended play and then ultimately canceled The Players Championship withstand really started to. Create what I call the lever pulls in golf all the different decisions that were being made around our great game sport at the professional level. At the amateur level, and certainly the businesses that's when things started to migrate, but we had had some level of awareness to a virus in China back at the end of last year. Had no idea Was coronavirus had no idea that it was epidemic of sorts at the time that could ultimately manifest itself or develop into a pandemic, but like many like many of us in this industry, we do some work with Asia based entities, some in China and we started to see A little bit of absenteeism and some of the facilities, and so we weren't sure what that was, so we paid very close attention to that.ˇSoˇweˇweˇgot a sense that something unusual was happening at the end of last year. Really. The beginning of this year and then once the media started to get engaged in the Public Health Committee, started to engage both nationally and internationally. We found out like everybody else That there was this epidemic happening in Asia, that ultimately has become coronavirus on a worldwide basis.ˇSoˇwe had a little bit of a notion that there may have been something unusual, although we really didn't know what that was. In our companies. One that I alwaysˇprioritizesˇhealth and safety and everything we do absolutely everything comes its people, customer health and safety. First that tailor made Soˇwe're very cognizant of it then then really to the Genesis of your question, Iˇactually duckedˇout with my family For a couple of days on a holiday inˇmid Marchˇand that's when the news started to break that this isˇseriousˇand we were obviously like every other company going to take this very seriously. And then The Players Championship was suspended. the NBA was suspended. I'm silvers and the NBA suspended the NBA season and then things you know started to ramp so Over the past ten months, there have been a series of actions and decisions that have had to be made on behalf of our sport On behalf of the business and certainly all the people involved, that has been a bit surreal to be honest with you,

Transcript  Tom Brassell  Welcome to the Worldwide Golf Shops Insider Podcast.  Episode 312. Hello Everyone, Tom Brassell here. Thanks so much for joining us. We love having you if you're a rookie, first-timer or you're a long time veteran, or maybe somewhere in the middle, it doesn't matter. We're just glad that you joined us in our special guest today. Joins us from adding California. He's been. He's been on the show before. He is over product creation. He's the category lead for the Iron category.  From TaylorMade Golf, Mr Matt Bovee, Matt, thanks so much great to have you with us again.  Matt Bovee  So great to be back there anytime you guys wanna talk golf. You know I'm all about it.  Tom Brassell  Well, what's nice is when we talk with you about golf, that always means there's something new and exciting that you guys have been working up. And in this case it's the Iron, said all new P7 series and 770. Share with us a little bit about the development and what all went into this behind the scenes.  Matt Bovee  Oh wow, so yeah lot went into designs. You know from a development standpoint, in each one kind of has their own narrative on story. You know you talked about the P7 and P7 MC. Those two designs are geared for the better ball strikers of the world, right? We designed those four tour players. And of course, if we're designing it for the best players in the world, we're gonna reach out. We're going to get their feedback.  If you want to make sure that they're going to perform exactly like they, they want them to, so the P7 MB that is our new muscleback blade replacements, so that will be replacing P730 for anyone who is familiar with our previous lineup, and the P7 was built off of Dustin Johnson's prototype, so it shares a lot of similarities with the club that he's been playing.  And of course, inspired by what he likes to look down at. And then Rory provided some feedback as well, which changed the offset of the iron. And then of course we have that beautiful new design on the back which is so different from anything we've done in the past. That's different from any blade I've ever seen to be honest, and the feedback about this has just been phenomenal.  Tom Brassell  For those who can't see it, as we talked describe it.  Matt Bovee  So the P7B uses what we started calling a faceted back bar geometry. There's this point in that. Oh that's been kind of raised up in three surfaces. Come and meet at this point, like a facet of a diamond, and the reason we the reason we did this was ultimately all blades have more mass.  In the toe, than in the heel.  You have to offset the weight of the hosel in order to keep the center of gravity around's interface tour players like it a little bit. He'll side of this interface, but if you want to get it right, you know where they want it. You gotta have more mass in that. Oh, but we wanted to do it in a way that was different and visually intriguing, so we took that point and we created a third dimension. Most blades you see they're very 2 dimensional.  In terms of like design geometry very cleaner, this is totally the opposite and it created something that reflects the white light. Excuse me in such a way that's really captivating, but at the same time it's like elegant and timeless. It's a very unique design.  Tom Brassell  And you said DJ is influenced from what I was reading. He likes it just a little longer. Blade length,

Bob Vokey – Podcast #302

On this installment of the Worldwide Golf Shops INSIDER Podcast, we talk to the craftsmen behind Vokey's high-performance Wedges, Bob Vokey! Vokey talks about his history, career and of course, the new Vokey SM8 wedge. This Wedge takes the next innovative leap - pushing CG forward of the face in the high lofts. Maintaining the vertical, progressive center of gravity, while improving the CG depth (forward/back). This produces improved feel and stability, resulting in closer proximity to the hole. Please listen and learn from Vokey Himself, as he teaches you about SM8 on this very informative INSIDER Podcast. Titleist Vokey SM8 Wedge The shift that will reshape your wedge game. SM8 features a center of gravity that is pushed forward from the face, through the use of high density tungsten, producing a more consistent, pure strike that helps you hit your target more often.SM8 takes the next innovative leap - pushing CG forward of the face in the high lofts. Maintaining the vertical, progressive center of gravity, while improving the CG depth (forward/back). This produces improved feel and stability, resulting in closer proximity to the hole.To achieve the CG heights that produce exceptional ball flight, and push the CG forward of the face in the high lofts, Voke's team lengthened the hosel and counterbalanced this weight with a tungsten weight low in the toe. The result is high, forward center of gravity and increased MOI. For golfers, this means improved feel, improved ball flight, and a clubface that simply wants to square at impact for more consistent results. F Grind - is an all-purpose grind that is particularly suited for full shots and shots hit with a square face. Ideal for players who prefer a traditional wedge sole. The F grind is the most played sand wedge on Tour including Justin Thomas, Ian Poulter and Charlie Hoffman.M Grind - Voke’s favorite, is designed for players that like to rotate the club face open and closed to manufacture shots around the green. Ideal for players with a shallower, more sweeping swing type who play shots from a variety of clubface positions. Played by Charles Howell III, Patrick Cantlay and Cam Smith.S Grind - features a full sole that has been narrowed by a trailing edge grind, giving it a faster feel through the turf. This grind is best for neutral to firm conditions and for players that like to control loft with their hands ahead or behind the ball.  Played by Jordan Spieth, Adam Scott and Lanto Griffin.D Grind - blends versatility from a heel, toe, and trailing edge grind and forgiveness with its high measured bounce. The D Grind is ideal for players with a steeper angle of attack who play shots from a variety of clubface positions.L Grind - lowest bounce option in the mix. The heel, toe, and trailing edge relief allow for maximum greenside versatility. This club is perfect for firm conditions and designed for precise players. It is ideal for players that have complete control of impact looking for maximum shot-making versatility. Played by Jordan Spieth, Jimmy Walker, and JT Poston.K Grind - highest bounce wedge in the lineup, and is the ultimate bunker club. The K Grind is a wide, full sole wedge with enhanced camber to make it forgiving from a variety of sand and turf conditions. Played by Justin Thomas, Adam Scott and Webb Simpson. Chip Brewer – Podcast #301

On this installment of the Worldwide Golf Shops INSIDER Podcast, we talk with President/CEO of Callaway Golf Co, Chip Brewer. Chip talks Mavrik, Callaway's new line of Metalwoods and irons. This product, much like EPIC Flash, was designed by artificial intelligence. But now features a new SS20 architecture, high-strength FS2S Titanium, AND a new Cyclone Aero shape, which differs drastically from their recent driver shapes to promote faster head speed. Callaway has been known to move the needle in golf product development, and after listening to this Podcast. We believe they have done it again! So please listen to this very informative INSIDER Podcast to learn about Callaway Golf's MAVRIK! Callaway Golf's MAVRIK Driver THREE HEADS: MAVRIK, MAVRIK MAX, MAVRIK SUB ZERO MAVRIK delivers incredible ball speeds technologies led by our A.I. -designed Flash Face SS20 architecture, high-strength FS2S Titanium, AND our new Cyclone Aero shape, which differs drastically from our recent driver shapes to promote faster head speed. The Cyclone shape is shallower from front to back, with a flatter crown, and a sole design that sweeps upward dramatically in the rear to create a markedly higher trailing edge. That’s how we decrease drag for increased clubhead speed. The head’s internal and external weighting includes a single, fixed 5g weight positioned at the sole’s back-center, to promote mid-level spin and a moderate draw bias. Available in 9º, 10.5º and 12º lofts. MAVRIK MAX is well suited for players who want a long, easy-to-hit driver with the ability to reduce slices off the tee. It has the largest footprint of the three models, boasts the highest MOI, is the easiest to launch, and has the most draw bias capability. For golfers who struggle with impact dispersion, MAX offers a tremendous amount of high-speed surface area on the face. MAX also incorporates two interchangeable weights, 14g and 2g, positioned in the sole near the heel and center- back. Installing the heavier weight in the heel creates maximum draw bias; installing it in the back creates maximum MOI. Available in 9º, 10.5º and 12º lofts. Like all of Callaway’s Sub Zero models from the past five years, MAVRIK Sub Zero offers a remarkable combination of low spin and high MOI. Though getting both qualities into one driver was once unheard of, Callaway R&D continues to deliver on this rare combination. The slightly smaller (450cc) head features two interchangeable screws in the front and back, 14g and 2g, to promote changes to launch angle and spin-rate. It has a neutral ball flight bias and the lie angle is slightly flatter compared to the Standard and MAX models. Available in 9º and 10.5º lofts. Mavrick thinking fueled our new, A.I. designed Flash Face SS20, to promote fast ball speeds across a more expansive area in each model and loft.New face architecture required FS2S titanium, an extremely strong material that’s 6 grams lighter than traditional titanium to promote optimal speed, forgiveness, and spin robustness. Two internal Jailbreak bars connect the sole and crown to promote fast ball speed, and the significantly lighter carbon crown allows us to redistribute weight for higher MOI.Using A.I. to design a sophisticated internal titanium rib system that fine-tunes the head to produce a deeper, highly satisfying sound. Callaway Golf's MAVRIK Iron MAVRIK, MAVRIK PRO, MAVRIK MAX Irons The Callaway MAVRIK Irons appeal to a wide range of players, with incredibly fast ball speeds from A.I and Flash Face architecture for long, consistent distance. To provide complete performance to match these distance technologies, each iron is engineered to optimize launch and trajectory while promoting player preferred trajectories, spin rates, and land angles. The MAVRIK Pro Irons feature a more compact head shape, flatter lie angle and thinner topline that better players prefer for better workability and control. And with our Flash Face architecture,

Dan Van Horn – U.S. Kids Golf

Dan Van Horn at the 2016 European Championship A true visionary sees a problem and finds a solution. That's exactly what Dan Van Horn did in 1996 when he founded U.S. Kids Golf.  His children wanted to learn to play golf and while they were enthusiastic at first, their interest quickly dropped. "They weren't having fun," Van Horn recalls. "At the time, I didn't realize that cutoffs and junior clubs were so heavy; they were not only hurting my kids' swings, but also their desire to play." That's when the former golf professional and engineer began developing Ultralight kids clubs, which were designed to be 25% lighter than adult and most junior clubs, and he formed the company, U.S. Kids Golf. Since then, parents and pros around the world have seen the incredible difference that lightweight and correctly fit clubs have made in their young player's swing and enthusiasm for the game. Today, the company is the world’s leading provider of equipment. Dan was kind enough to spend some time with us recently, but not specifically about U.S. Kids Golf products.  He shares with us what he and his company are doing to grow the game at the youth level through coaching, tournaments and their foundation.  Not only here in the United States, but around the world. Take a listen below on Soundcloud, on our website or on subscribe free on iTunes. You'll not only be impressed, but also proud that we have people like Dan taking an interest in our most important asset.  Our youth. https://soundcloud.com/worldwide-golf-shops/dan-van-horn-of-us-kids-golf-podcast-208 Tom Brassell: Welcome to GolfBetter at Worldwide Golf Shops. Episode 208. Hello, everyone. My name is Tom Brassell, thanks so much for joining us. If you're a first-time listener or a long-time subscriber, doesn't matter. We're just glad you joined us today. We have a special guest joining us. He's from up in Atlanta. Actually, he is on the course at Pinehurst today where they're hosting an event. He is the president and CEO of US Kids Golf, up in Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Dan Van Horn. Dan, thanks so much for joining us. It's great to have you. Dan Van Horn: Well, thank you, Tom. It's great to invited. Tom Brassell:  First off, give us just a brief history of your background, how you got started and how this all came about, because this is so, so important to the game. Dan Van Horn: Well, we started 20 years ago. I had kids, I wanted to bring kids a sport that I enjoyed the most playing, which is golf, after having played all the sports myself. I really wanted them to play and enjoy golf. That's how US Kids Golf got started. A dad who was trying to get his kids involved. Tom Brassell:  Wow. What you're doing is so, so important. I think when I was a kid, I'm not sure how old you are, but the way we started was, "Hey, here's dad's old clubs," or if you really got lucky, you got some cut down for you. I don't know if this is true or not, but I think there's a direct correlation with how good the young players are today with the equipment that they grew up with. Would that be far off? Dan Van Horn:  Well, clearly, the idea of providing kids something that would be proportionate to their size was not what we were doing at the time, 20 years ago, it's hard to believe. In other words, we weren't really looking at the length of the club or weight of the club to see if it could be improved to help the young player enjoy the game. As a dad, when it became apparent to me there was a need, then that was the beginning of US Kids Golf, to provide kids with the best equipment to help them learn the game and have fun with it. Tom Brassell: Well, many on the retail side, we know about what you do with regard to equipment, but there's so much more than that, Dan. I'm looking at your website and you have 4 tabs there. The very last one is products. Before that is coaching and lessons, learning to play in tournaments. Share with us a little about that and what's behind all that.
