Born in depths of Mamelodi, one of South Africa’s distinctive townships, Thabang Ntuli is the prodigy of an emerging industry talent. Known for his stage name “TekniQ” in which it greatly describes his creative versatility in music. He has emerged in the wakes of the influence of localized jazz musicians and the South African Afro Pop culture.
The musical expedition began in the early years of his teenage life, where he then established a production band with his childhood friends named Gemini Boys. As a hobby and probably a rather perceptible interest in the social lifestyle, the group caught a lot of attention. Seemingly because they produced their own music and performed it as well, making them one the few artists to do so in Mamelodi. After a couple of years trying to juggle a demanding routine of being an aspiring artist and a student in the Faculty of Management, Thabang then realized his true calling. Instead of the social norm of obtaining a Degree and getting a decent job, TekniQ decided to grow his knowledge in the industry that he well understands and loves, thus he then went on to study Sound Engineering.
Obtaining a Diploma in Sound Engineering and a heightened skill set in music production, TekniQ then went on to produce songs that are domestically & internationally recognized. He took of were he left off as a young aspiring musician. Ever since his fledgling years as a member an underground reputable band, he rubbed shoulders and shared a stage with industry elites such as Black Coffee, Vinny Da Vinci, DJ Sbu to name a few. He then continued to work with an international record label Cabana Records, SONY and House Afrika to name a few. He is also known as the pioneer of the SA House Music sub genre called "Broken Beat" that owned the club scene and airwaves in the year 2013-2016. Through radio interviews, airplay, an immense amount of gig performances and his distinctive style of music, TekniQ has then gained a reputation in underground music scene and is raising the flag in to the music industry mainstream.
In 2015 he established a Multimedia Company (AME) the parent company of his label Abstract Mood Music that releases music of TekniQ and other emerging artists. A year later he released his debut album titled “Abstract Mood” that included hit such as "My Gift" and "Stardust" the track in which he featured Lady Zamar. His accolades also include being nominated as the best Producer in at the PTA Hall of Fame Awards. To add to his media profile he also hosted a Radio show for Tshwane FM named "House of House " during 2015-2016 that also received a bronze award for the most listener ship in community radio station category. He also held the number 1 spot for Top Broken Beat & Nu-Jazz category on the international online store Traxsource for 2 month with the track "Sum Funk In Jazz". In 2019 he debuts with his single titled "Donta" featuring the talented Denny Dugg which is already get positive review from industry professionals. There more to his reputation but with more years ahead of him, he has proven to be regarded as one of the next top Musicians of South Africa or perhaps the world.
