Los Angeles County Schools are currently running the nation’s largest food bank and providing hundreds of thousands of computers with hotspots to students. This started when schools first closed in March. Los Angeles Unified School District is the second largest public school system in the country, but it doesn’t just educate nearly 700,000 students. It provides a social safety net to the 82% of students who live in poverty and 18,000 homeless students.
