On this week's episode of the #EShow, we feature the newest team in the Central Division, the Providence Hockey Club. Jake Basile chats with Jeff Perreault as he gears up to lead Providence through their inaugural season in the junior ranks. After spending the 2022-23 season with the Philadelphia Hockey Club, and previous years in the USPHL, Perreault brings a wealth of junior hockey experience to the league's newest program. Jumping into the Central Division, Perreault knows the favorite at the top, and hopes his team can be the first to knock off the Railers Jr. Hockey Club up in Worcester.

On this week's episode of the #EShow, we feature one of the newest members of the EHL, the Pennsylvania Huntsmen. Jake Basile chats with Matt Reid, as the Huntsmen gear up for their first season at the Junior A level. Pennsylvania's introduction to junior hockey came at the EHLP level this past season, as they advanced all the way to the Mid-Atlantic Division finals against the New Jersey 87's. It was a great inaugural campaign for the Huntsmen, and a great first taste of what junior hockey is all about. Now, looking forward to the addition of Reid, the Huntsmen are eager to get the 2023-24 season started, and see how far their program can continue to grow.

On this week's episode of the #EShow, we head North to Laconia, New Hampshire, and highlight the New England Wolves. Jake Basile chats with Tim Kunes, as the former National Champion at Boston College, prepares for another season at the helm in arguably the toughest division in the league. Working alongside Wolves' General Manager and EHLP Head Coach, Andrew Trimble, Kunes has helped the Wolves take a major step forward each and every season since the duo purchased the program back in 2018. Now, looking ahead to the upcoming 2023-24 campaign, the Wolves' sights are set on Providence, Rhode Island, as both Trimble and Kunes are hungry to make it back to the Frozen Finals.

On this week's episode of the #EShow, we head back to the East Division, and highlight the Seahawks Hockey Club. Heading into the program's 7th season in the league, Bill Zaniboni sits down with Jake Basile to discuss what his organization has established in a little over half a decade. Looking back on this past year in particular, and outside of the 21 victories their EHL team racked up, it was another consistent year in terms of NCAA Commitments for the Seahawks. With 10 additional advancements, Zaniboni has helped 66 players make their NCAA Commitment to date, and history tells us that total will likely increase up to at least 75 during the upcoming 2023-24 season.

On this week's episode of the #EShow, we welcome back the Bridgewater Bandits to the EHL and EHLP. Jake Basile chats with Scott Drevitch, as the Bandits make their return to the league, after departing following the conclusion of the 2016-17 season. Drevitch highlights the feelings Bridgewater has towards returning to the EHL and EHLP, and discusses how anxious they are to get started. Having established a strong culture over the years, Drevitch is happy to have his program back in the spot where they first created their original identity. Opening day for the Bandits' EHL team is set for September 21st on the road against the Express, while the EHLP team will host the Lumberjacks for a pair of games on the 15th and 16th.

On this week's episode of the #EShow, we feature a program that is racking up their total number of appearances at the Frozen Finals, the Railers Jr. Hockey Club. Jake Basile chats with Sean Bertoni, as the Head Coach and GM looks back on last season, but also ahead with his sights set on redemption this upcoming year. Both teams, EHL and EHLP, made their 2nd Frozen Finals appearances this past March, and the sting of how each season ended, has given Bertoni, his staff, and the rest of the Railers extra motivation this off-season. Tack on last year's 11 NCAA Commitments, and on top of the success in the win column, Bertoni and the Railers have already helped 35 players advance to the next level, in just four seasons in the league. The Railers have developed their own model, and they're chugging along.

On this week's episode of the #EShow, we feature the first of two new programs in the South Division, the New Jersey Bears. Located in Flemington, NJ, the Bears have purchased and relocated the Protec Jr. Ducks franchise this off-season. Jake Basile chats with Jason Kilcoyne, as the former Assistant Coach of the 2016-17 EHL Champions, the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers, discusses his return to the league, as the man at the helm for the Bears. Kilcoyne is hopeful that New Jersey can pick up where Protec left off, which ended by finishing in 1st place in the South Division at the end of this past regular season.

On this week's episode of the #EShow, we shift our way back to the East Division, and highlight the Express Hockey Club. Jake Basile chats with Nic Cota, as the former defenseman for the Express looks back on his first season as the Head Coach down in Walpole. While the 2022-23 campaign unfortunately ended for Cota's team in triple overtime of game #3 in the East Division Final, he's still beyond proud of what his group accomplished along the way. With 10 players departing for nine different schools this fall, Cotra puts extra stock in that success from this past season, as ultimately reaching the NCAA level is the goal of every junior hockey player.

On this week's episode of the #EShow, we feature the only EHL program that has appeared in all five editions of the Frozen Finals, the New Hampshire Avalanche. Jake Basile chats with Chris Cerrella, as the Head Coach and General Manager of the Avs reflects on another record-setting season for his program. While Cerrella has helped over 160 players make that NCAA Commitment while playing in the EHL, that impressive total includes over 100 players since he helped launch the Avalanche program, a milestone marker that he surpassed this past season as part of the 16 new players that have chosen their next step. Simply put, the Avalanche sit towards the top of teams in all of junior hockey, averaging over 17 per season.

On this week's episode of the #EShow, we work our way back to the Central Division, and highlight the Hockey Club of Rhode Island. Jake Basile chats with James Mello, as HCRI turns the page towards their second season in the EHL. The inaugural campaign for the league's first-ever franchise in Rhode Island went as well as they could have hoped for, as the team finished in 2nd place in their division. Now as the program looks ahead towards this upcoming season, Mello is proud to have the foundation established for their franchise. The challenge coming up however, will be to take another step forward, as they hit the recruiting roads harder than ever this off-season.

On this week's episode of the #EShow, we head back south and feature the Philadelphia Little Flyers. Jake Basile chats with Mark Catron, following another solid season in the league, highlighted by the EHL team's second consecutive appearance at the Frozen Finals. At the top level, Philadelphia has reached the finals in four of the five years of the event, while their EHLP team has made two appearances of their own. You can label Philadelphia as 'Frequent Flyers' of the annual Road to Providence. Catron reflects on this past season, as well as the excitement he has over the core group of players that are returning to the program this upcoming year.

On this week's episode of the #EShow, we shift back to the East Division and highlight the East Coast Wizards. Jake Basile chats with Kory Falite ahead of his 8th season with the program, and his 4th year as the Head Coach. Falite reflects on what was another solid season this past year, including helping advance nine players onto NCAA Division II and III schools for the third straight campaign. The Wizards are proud of the consistency they've established, while continuing to develop their players for the next level. An icing on the cake this upcoming year for Falite, would be for the Wizards to find their way out of their tough division and advance back to Providence for the first time since 2019.

On this week's episode of the #EShow, we highlight the program with the longest history in junior hockey, the New York Apple Core. Jake Basile connects with Lenny Caglianone following his first season coaching in the EHL. Caglianone is a former player in the league, as he served as a captain on the blue line for the New Jersey Rockets back in the inaugural season of the EHL. The native of New Jersey is proud that his career in the sport brought him back to the league, as he now looks to build off of what his team accomplished in his first campaign as a coach. With the addition of the Providence Hockey Club to the Central Division, Caglianone knows the battle to make it to the Frozen Finals is only getting tougher.

Jake Basile chats with Ryan McGrath as he prepares his EHL team for their move up to the North Division. McGrath and Sean Collins, the new Head Coach for the Warriors' EHLP team, are busy preparing for the upcoming 2023-24 season, with a strong number of returning players coming back to the program for another year of development. This fall will mark the start of McGrath's 5th season in Haverhill, coming off of a year that saw his captain commit to Endicott College, an NCAA Division III program that just advanced all the way to the Frozen Four this past March.

On this week's episode of the #EShow we work our way north and feature the Vermont Lumberjacks. Jake Basile chats with Seth Gustin ahead of his third season with the program and second year at the helm of the EHL team. The Lumberjacks are coming off another solid season at both levels, having advanced some of their players onto top programs in NCAA Division III hockey. Looking ahead to the 2023-24 campaign, Gustin is hoping Vermont can duplicate what they did back in the 2020-21 season and bring both teams all the way to the Frozen Finals.

On this week's episode of the #EShow, we head to the Central Division and feature a club that has been right on the verge of reaching the EHL Frozen Finals for the past two seasons. Jake Basile chats with Greg Heffernan as he gears up for his third campaign with the Connecticut Chiefs. Heffernan brought with him to the Chiefs a resume that includes a 12-year stint as the Head Coach at Western New England University, and five additional seasons serving as an Assistant Coach at both SUNY Fredonia and Mercyhurst College. The veteran coach gives a lot of credit to the relationships that he made at the collegiate level as a big reason why he's been able to push 16 players and counting into the NCAA ranks from the Chiefs.

It was a week to remember in Providence, RI, as the EHL and EHLP combined to bring us tremendous action throughout the five-day stretch. Ultimately it was the Boston Jr. Rangers winning it all in the EHL, and the New Jersey 87's skating away victoriously in the EHLP. With each championship, both the Rangers and 87's franchises have each now won three titles in three years with the Rangers going EHL-EHLP-EHL and the 87's going EHLP-EHL-EHLP.

On this week's episode of the #EShow we feature the Maine Eclipse, one of the newest franchises in the league. On this week's episode of the #EShow we chat with Connor Bizal and Adam Zukowski, a pair of forwards from this past year's EHL Champions, the Boston Jr. Rangers. Bizal and Zukowski are also the Co-Founders of The Fellowship of Hockey Advancement, a free resource for high school and junior hockey players who are looking to succeed and grow at their level. The mentors at FHA provide advice and support to players who need help overcoming their obstacles and getting to where they want to be. Bizal and Zukowski take the time to share their respective stories including some of the hurdles they've each had to overcome.

On this week's episode of the #EShow we chat with Mike Gempeler, the Founder and Director of the CCM Showcase in Westminster, CO. The annual event takes place over Memorial Day Weekend and brings together over 400 players and 150 scouts. The EHL will be well-represented once again this weekend, with teams throughout the EHL and EHLP heading out in search of players to bring back to the east coast.

On this week's episode of the #EShow we officially welcome Greg Heffernan to the EHL (1:11). After 12 seasons of serving as the Head Coach at Western New England University, Heffernan is ready to take on a new challenge. The native of Ontario inherits a program on the rise in the EHL, coming off their first playoff series victory this past March. Heffernan hopes to help the program continue to take forward steps from the moment he arrives and in the years to come. To wrap-up things up (24:12), the #ECrew puts together the all-time lineup for the Chiefs.

On this week's episode of the #EShow we keep trending younger with our Team of the Week features, as we highlight a program with three years of history in the EHL (1:20). Josh Fusco has been with the organization for a pair of seasons, and has helped guide Maryland a step further in each respective year. From the franchise's first playoff victory, to their first series win, Fusco's leadership has led to on-ice success during the month of March, along with an NCAA Commitment total that more than doubled this past season. To wrap-up the episode (32:55), the #ECrew assembles the Team Maryland all-time lineup with a special selection for one of Fusco's former netminders.

On this week's episode of the #EShow we feature the youngest team of the offseason to date (1:25), as Bill Zaniboni and the Seahawks Hockey Club continue to prepare for their 5th season in the EHL and their 1st in the EHLP. Over the first four years, the Seahawks have established a reputation of being a hard team to play against, built off the physicality that they bring on every shift of every game. The program has also set itself apart as being one of the commitment leaders in the league, with 46 total NCAA Commitments in four years, and that impressive number includes 15 from this past season. Following the interview with Zaniboni (22:59), the former NCAA Division I netminder, the #ECrew discusses and selects the all-time lineup for the Seahawks.

On this week's episode of the #EShow we feature another 'Original 6' team in the Connecticut RoughRiders (1:19). Steven Brown is the Associate Head Coach of the RoughRiders, and serves as Eric Lind's right-hand man. Brown and Lind are the only coaching duo that has remained intact and in the same location for all eight seasons of the EHL. Brown takes time on the podcast to talk about his relationship with Lind, as well as look back on what was in his opinion the toughest season of coaching he's ever gone through. To put a bow on things at the end, the #ECrew comes together (38:56) to discuss all of the great players that have hit the ice in Norwalk, CT.

On this week's episode of the #EShow we feature another organization with a strong history of success throughout its time in the EHL (1:21). The East Coast Wizards entered the league in its 2nd season, 2014-15, and over the course of time, took a stride forward with each and every new campaign. While the Wizards have showcased a handful of slow starts in recent years, they've also established themselves as a team that gets better as each season progresses, developing into a matchup that you don't want to draw in the postseason. To wrap-up the episode (24:37), the #ECrew creates the all-time lineup for the Wizards that includes a pair of former stars with 2017-18 EHL Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year.

On this week's episode of the #EShow we welcome Anthony Lorusso to the podcast for the very first time (1:13). ALO is the President of the Philadelphia Little Flyers and he's been with the organization for every season since the EHL was formed back in 2013. The conversation breaks down the 2020-21 campaign and everything that the Little Flyers endeavored at both the EHL and EHLP levels. On this week's episode of the #EShow we recap the 2021 #EHLFrozenFinals, which gave us a truly unforgettable week in West Chester, PA. For the Boston Jr. Rangers, their EHL title symbolizes the 'Unfinished Business' that carried over for them from the 2019-20 season. Along those same lines, the New Jersey 87's victory in the EHLP brings everything full circle for their organization, earning their first-ever championship in the division where it all began for them back in 2017. The #ECrew breaks things down day-by-day for the event that we'll be talking about for a long long time, and begins to slowly turn the page for the 2021-22 season.

On this week's episode of the #EShow we preview the 2021 EHL Frozen Finals. Starting tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 pm, a full week of action will begin at Ice Line Quad Rinks in West Chester, PA. Jeff shares some stories from his countless years of officiating from the mite level to the professional levels. The boys discuss the SJHL incident that occurred when a player decked a goalie and was given a 25 game suspension by the league. But since the incident, he has now been banned from the SJHL for a video that went viral on social media with him having some choice words on the incident. We talk about the negative effect that social media can have for young athletes and more specifically junior hockey players that are attempting to get college scholarships. Along with this we discuss how often we are seeing goalies getting involved in contact hits this 2019-20 NHL season. TJHP EP044 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast Gresko is joined by Rainer and Costo. We had the boys on to catch up. We discussed the recent buzz around the idea of combining midget hockey with junior hockey. We also talked about what that would include with all junior hockey being under the USA Hockey umbrella. The boys also chat about the Area 51 raid that has gone viral across the internet and share what Junior Hockey teammate they would want to join them in breaking into the infamous government property. The NAHL has recently announced their all star team that will be going to Russia to play against European Junior Hockey teams so we discuss our thoughts about that and just how cool it is. We also talk about one of the best and most integral parts of the Junior Hockey lifestyle, Road Trips with the boys. We share some of our own stories and games that we would play to pass the time and have some fun. TJHP EP043 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast we are joined by Special Guest Chris Flaugher who is the Head Coach and General Manager of the St. Louis Jr. Blues in the NA3HL. We had a great conversation with Chris discussing his personal playing career and what has changed in Junior Hockey since he played. We also talked about the Jr. Blues organization and what makes them such a powerhouse year in and year out. With talking about the NAHL and NA3HL a lot lately we asked Chris some of the questions we have been wondering lately and attempted to clear the air and get all the information on the requirement that the NAHL has to draft and tender NA3HL players. TJHP EP042 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast we are joined by Special Guest Gavin Cummings who played in the NA3HL for the Pittsburgh Vengeance and spent a little time playing for the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in the NAHL. We had a great time talking about Gavin's Junior Hockey Career and what he believes is the biggest difference between the NAHL and NA3HL. We also talk about Junior Hockey as a whole and share some stories from our playing days. Gavin shared some teammates with Gresko, Sus and Pauly so we shared some funny moments and had a few laughs. We discussed the NAHL Draft and what Gavin's thoughts are about the Tendering and Drafting of NA3HL players given that he spent so much time in both those leagues. TJHP EP041 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast we are joined by the Head Coach and Assistant General Manager of the OCN Blizzard in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, Ryan Wood. We had a great discussion with Ryan about the dynamics of Canadian Junior Hockey and the similarities and differences it has to USA Junior Hockey. Ryan shared some about his personal career and what has helped push him to the level of coaching he is at right now. We also chatted about Junior Hockey drafts, showcases and tryouts. We dove into the topic of recruitment and what it takes to play at the Tier 2 level in Canadian Juniors. TJHP EP040 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast, we have the boys jump on to discuss a few recent storylines. We discussed the new USA Hockey rule that will take effect this upcoming season and just how we all feel about it. Things got heated when we broke down the true meaning behind the numbers for the NAHL Draft and just why they had 26 draft picks along with 26 tenders. Rainer seemed to be on one side of the argument, while Pauly and Gresko were on the other. TJHP EP039 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast, we had the opportunity to sit down with Assistant Coach for the United States Hockey League's Omaha Lancers, Jason Power. We had a great time discussing not only the USHL but a wide range of Junior Hockey topics with Jason. He shared amazing insight into the Junior Hockey world around the topics of recruiting, exposure, and how to impress scouts/coaches. Jason is also the goalie coach for the Lancers and he shares a little insider secret with how he goes about determining if a goalie could crack a USHL lineup. Along with talking about the USHL and recruiting, we discussed Showcases, Main Camps, Open Camps and all other avenues that today's Junior Hockey players utilize to get seen by some of the top Junior Hockey Organizations in the country. TJHP EP037 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast, the boys discuss the recent change in the NCAA Recruiting Rules and what that means for not only the future of College Hockey but the future of Junior Hockey and just how this rule will cause a change. We also discuss Body Language in hockey and more specifically just how much body language can hurt you in a tryout camp or a showcase. We also discuss the current landscape of camps going on during the summer and whether or not they are good for Junior Hockey as a whole. TJHP EP036 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast, the boys discuss and end up debating the NHL Playoffs and more specifically the shenanigans that occurred with Brad Marchand and his punch to the back of Harrington's head and the stomping of Atkinson's stick. We all had different opinions and it got a little heated. We also talked about the Esa Lindell's embellishment when Bortuzzo cross checked him and he dove repeatedly. To end the show we discussed not only the NA3HL Draft, but also our thoughts on whether it is important to the league and ultimately what it does to Junior Hockey as a whole. TJHP EP035 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast, Sus and Gresko talk with Rainer Londion-Green and Nick Castellano and reminisce the good ole days of Junior Hockey when we all played together or against each other. We shared some stories and caught up. Rainer and Costo shared some unreal stories from our Junior Hockey days and we had a ton of great laughs. Rainer is currently coaching in Junior Hockey, and Costo is playing at the University of Mississippi. We all played together in the old MNJHL for the Rochester Ice Hawks. We had a lot of great memories together and we spent this episode catching up and telling some of our favorite stories from the best years of our lives. We hope you guys enjoy this episode since it is a different format from our typical interview based podcast. We hope to do more of these in the future and just have a fun time recording and catching up with former teammates and other Junior Hockey players.

TJHP EP034 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast, TDC and Gresko talk with Chris Cerrella, who is the Head Coach and General Manager of the Back to Back Eastern Hockey League Champions, the New Hampshire Avalanche. Chris has not only been able to put together Championship caliber teams over the past two years, but has also had a ton of success throughout his entire coaching career. He helped jump start the Walpole Express back in 2005, then helped rebuild the Hartford Junior Wolfpack in 2012. He has personally placed over 120 Junior Hockey players into College and has had a huge part in the success of Junior Hockey on the east coast. Chris has not only stamped his existence in the Junior Hockey world, but also had a pretty stellar playing career. He played in the USHL, then continued his career at Quinnipiac University playing NCAA hockey. Then ultimately hanging up his skates after playing 4 years of professional hockey in the ECHL, CHL, and UHL. We had a great conversation with Chris and he shared a ton of insight into the past and current Junior Hockey Landscape and what has changed. He also discussed a wide range of topics on what it takes to get into Junior Hockey and be a successful player. TJHP EP033 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast, TDC and Gresko talk with Topher Scott, who runs The Hockey Think Tank website and podcast. He joined us to talk about his career and share some stories from his time with the Chicago Steel in the USHL, playing at Cornell University, and his time playing professional hockey in the ECHL and CHL. We had a great discussion with Topher about not only his career, but also the current Junior Hockey Landscape in the United States. He also discusses Youth Hockey and what has gone wrong over the past decade. TJHP EP032 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast, TDC and Gresko talk with Mike Fazio, who has an incredible resume when it comes to hockey. He started out playing in Tier 3, worked his way up to playing in the NAHL for the Bismarck Bobcats, Austin Bruins, Chicago Hitmen, Springfield Jr. Blues and ending his Junior Hockey career with the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings. He then continued on to play for the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at the NCAA Division III level. After his great college career, he had his mind set on playing professional hockey, so he made the jump to the SPHL with the Evansville Thunderbolts and which ultimately led him to the ECHL with the Wheeling Nailers. We had a great discussion with Mike and talked about his career and what he has done throughout his career. He shared some stories and talked about which Junior Hockey organization was his favorite and what he got out of playing Junior Hockey. Mike also shares some inside information about what it is like playing minor league hockey and what it truly takes to crack a pro roster. TJHP EP031 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast, TDC and Gresko talk with the General Manager of the Chicago Steel in the United States Hockey League (USHL), Ryan Hardy. We had a great discussion with Ryan about not only his successful career, but just how he got there having only played High School Hockey. He has a great resume ranging from Coaching NCAA College Hockey, working with the USA National Team Development Program (USANTDP) to ultimately becoming a General Manager for a Tier 1 USHL Organization. Other than Ryan's personal career, we talked about the current junior hockey landscape and what he believes would help create a more competitive atmosphere in junior hockey. We asked Ryan a ton of questions about the USHL and the amount of effort that goes into developing these players to ultimately play NCAA D1 Hockey and make it to the NHL level. The USHL is known for its education of players in the classroom so we dove into the topic of schooling for the players and how the process works to ensure they are still achieving good grades. Ryan Hardy offers a ton of great knowledge on the game of hockey and more specifically what it takes to make it to the highest level. His resume speaks for itself and this is a great episode for any current player, parent, or coach that is interested in getting some information from one of the great minds in hockey. TJHP EP030 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast TDC and Gresko talk about recent Junior Hockey News from new teams added into the NAHL, the USHL Flying Aces temporarily cancelling their 2019-20 season. We also talk about the playoff matchups and setup in the EHL and USPHL. I discuss and ask TDC about his recent blogs and some news that has been going around over the past few weeks. Sus and Gresko had a good friend on, Alex Berardinelli, who plays for Colorado College in the NCHC. We ask him about his 3 years at CC and the Division I players lifestyle and how he handles his education and playing at such a high level. We also talked about his Junior Hockey Career where he started playing with Sus in the CHA and played against Gresko. He also shared some stories and talked about his time in the NAHL with the Michigan Warriors and the Lone Star Brahmas. We had a great time with Alex and it is always great to catch up with him and see what playing College Hockey is all about.

TJHP EP029 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast Hoff and Gresko talk with Howie Borden who is currently coaching with Saint Johns University in NCAA Division III Ice Hockey. Howie has an incredible resume ranging from 13 years in Junior Hockey at the Tier 2 and Tier 3 level, coaching for Bethel University and currently with Saint Johns University. We talked a lot about the Junior Hockey Landscape from the early 2000s to now. He shares a unique perspective when it comes to recruiting at the Junior Hockey level and the College level. Howie is respected at all levels of hockey and has proven to be one of the best in the game. He shares some of his thoughts of the current state of Junior Hockey and discusses what it takes to become a NCAA level ice hockey player.

TJHP EP028 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast Hoff and Gresko talk with the Owner of 3 USPHL Junior Hockey Organizations, John Schwarz. He is the owner of the Chicago Cougars, Dells Ducks and the Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings. We talked a lot about what goes on in a Junior Hockey owner's world and what it takes to run a successful organization. We also talked about the current Junior Hockey landscape and what John believes has changed over the past few years. We talked about Junior Hockey tryouts and what type of influence a Junior Hockey owner has on the 'on-ice' product. TJHP EP027 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast Hoff and Gresko talk with Retired NHL player and Stanley Cup winner, Daniel Carcillo. We talked about his career in the Ontario Hockey League, and how he was abused mentally and physical during his Junior Hockey Career. During this interview, Dan was driving to Sarnia to discuss abuse with the people of Sarnia. He has not only become an advocate for people who have been affected from abuse, but he has also become the spokesperson for all people affected by Traumatic Brain Injuries. During his mission of helping people, he has made the NHL his target. We spoke a lot about Concussions, TBI's and CTE and how the NHL has been denying that players are being affected by the very serious side effects of TBI's. He goes into great depths about Junior Hockey and the issue of concussions that is effecting hockey players during and after their careers. We had a great time talking with Dan and he shared a ton of great knowledge about the severity of Concussions in the sport of hockey. TJHP EP026 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast Hoff and Gresko talk with Hockey Family Advisor for JDM Consulting, David Maciuk. We chat about advising in Junior Hockey and ask Dave some questions about why it is needed, and what exactly advisors do. This is a topic that we have brought up before on the podcast and Hoff and Gresko never really understood the need of an advisor at the Junior Hockey level. We try to break it down and ask Dave the questions that we have always had. We talk about his day to day tasks and his relationships with his clients and the type of things he does for them. Dave played in the USHL during the 70s when it was minor pro hockey instead of Juniors, so we asked him briefly about that and what it was like playing in the USHL back then. TJHP EP023 - In this weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast, Gresko and Hoff sit down to talk about the Reality of being a coach at the Junior Hockey level. TJHP EP022 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast we had Doug "The Thug" Smith on to talk about his Professional Hockey career and how with only 4 years of skating experience managed to make it into Professional Hockey and ultimately playing in the AHL. Doug had an amazing career and we dove into his story and talked a lot about fighting, since that was his bread and butter. He shared some great stories and told us all about his experiences and some of his greatest fights. Doug "The Thug" Smith was the inspiration behind the Hockey Movies series Goon. He talked about the making of the movie and what he liked and didn't like about the series. With Gresko and Flach having experience in the fighting side of hockey, we asked a lot about it and dove into his mindset when he was the baddest man in Professional Hockey. We also talked about some NHL fights and what he thinks about Brad Marchand being a rat and licking people but never stepping up and fighting. Before the interview with Doug, Gresko and Hoff chatted about some recent Junior Hockey News and Hoff talked about his NA3HL blog where he broke down the West division and gave some playoff predictions. We also talked about the bus crash that occurred while the Brookings Blizzard NAHL hockey teams bus broke down and a car full of players crashed on the drive to the game.

TJHP EP021 -  This weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast we had reoccurring co-host, Vinnie Susi along with our old teammate and good buddy Nick Paulson. We talked with Pauly about his life now after being out of Juniors for a few years now. We talked about the transition from the Junior Hockey Lifestyle to the College scene. Pauly is now playing NCAA golf at Viterbo University which is a small college in Wisconsin. He shared some stories from college and we caught up with what he is doing now. He played numerous years of Junior Hockey and was always one of the highest scoring players in the Country. Sus and Gresko played with Pauly and had some funny memories from the ole Junior Hockey days and we talked about some of the best pranks and stories we had. On this weeks episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast we had reoccurring guest, Vinnie Susi along with our good friend and ex teammate, Dan Traegasar. Dan played with Sus and Gresko in Rochester, MN while Hof was coaching them. After Dan’s hockey career ended he enlisted in the Navy. Dan goes in depth not only on his Junior Hockey career, but shares his experience thus far in the Navy and being stationed in Japan. This Episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast dives into the differences between Junior Hockey in the Midwest versus the East coast, more specifically the old MNJHL and the EHL. We talked about how involved he is with the NA3HL and how he got invited to drop the puck at the Granite City Lumberjacks game at the end of January. This kid brings the heat and is incredibly funny and it was awesome to be able to sit down with him and talk junior hockey and share some stories of his past playing days. He played Junior A hockey on the east coach in the AJHL most of his career and then took his skills and sense of humor down to Arizona State University where he played some club hockey and really started to take off with his twitter profile and garner the attention of a bunch of hockey players and NHL players around the world. He has amassed over 200k subscribers on twitter and has started a company selling tshirts and merch that the boys love. We talked a lot about his journey through junior hockey and he shared some great memories and stories from his playing days. Then we got into the DanyAllstar15 account and got the inside scoop of how it was started and what it has become. The best part is is that he started this account on a road trip with the boys on the bus. That is insane, we got a junior hockey player that started an unreal business from the back of a Charter Bus. Robby is just as funny in person as he is online. You would think that he has a group of writers for the type of content he pushes out, there is no way this kid is that funny. But yeah... he's hilarious. Everything he posts is original content and he is just a character and one funny guy. We sat down for about 45 mins with him and he did not disapoint, Hoff and Gresko couldn't stop laughing and it was great. Hope you boys enjoy all the stories.

We share different coaching techniques and the duties of a coach when it comes to communicating with parents.

In this episode Hoff and Gresko chat about Junior Hockey tryouts and what a players mindset should be. We talk about all the changes in junior hockey, with fighting and league changes. Ultimately we talk about what a player should do to have a successful tryout season.

Flach and Jimmy played for the Texas Brahmas in the NA3HL together. So throughout this episode, we talked about there time playing together, telling stories from the past and what it was like playing for Al Rooney. Jimmy talked some about College Hockey and playing at Dakota College at Bottineau and transferring to play ACHA D1 hockey at Oklahoma University.

In this episode of The Junior Hockey Podcast, we talk with Head Coach and General Manager Al Rooney of the Chippewa Steel. The Steel are in their inaugural season in the NAHL. They have Head Coach/GM Al Rooney leading them and they couldnt be in better hands. Rooney started out playing hockey at the late age of 16. Then after only 6 years of playing experience found himself signing his first Professional Hockey contract. Yes, he worked that hard and was a natural at the sport. After playing D3 NCAA with SUNYAC for Buffalo State, and his Proffesional Career, Rooney found himself behind the bench coaching. With coaching he had the same trajectory, he became wildly succesful and moved up the hockey ladder quick to now Coaching and Managing an NAHL team, which is a huge accomplishment. We talked to Coach Rooney about all things hockey and how he got his team ready for this upcoming NAHL season.
