Gene editing technologies have the power to change life as we know it. So why aren’t more people involved in conversations about how we should use it? This was the central question of the Guardian's Gene Gap project. And the key motivation for this new podcast series, which features five different communities around the UK and the conversations they had about a technology that could, one day, allow us to rewrite our DNA
Episode 1: what does it mean to be human?
Gene editing technologies such as Crispr-Cas9 have the capability to rewrite our DNA and change life as we know it. In this new series, we spoke to people around the UK who could be touched by the new technology. In this first episode, we look at how DNA and identity interact. Does DNA make us who we are? What if we were to change that? And what does it mean to be different in a world that strives for perfection?
