The Well Done Foundation & TARTLE: Partnering to Cap Orphan Wells and Save the Environment

In the bustling world of technology and data, where the realms of artificial intelligence and humanity often intersect, there's a conversation that needs our immediate attention. It’s the story of Curtis Shuck, the founder of the Well Done Foundation, and his relentless mission to cap orphan wells across the United States. This enlightening tale was shared in an episode of TCAST, hosted by Alexander McCaig, CEO of TARTLE, highlighting the intersection of technology, data, and human progress. The Birth of a Mission Curtis' journey begins with an awakening—a stark realization amid Montana's breathtaking landscapes. Discovering abandoned orphan wells polluting the environment, Curtis saw a call to action. The Well Done Foundation's inception was fueled by a drive home filled with determination and a newfound purpose. For over 30 years, Curtis has dedicated his career to oil and energy-related project development, bringing a wealth of experience from both public service and the private sector to this vital cause. A Deep Dive into the Oil Business Understanding the oil business's intricacies is crucial to grasping this problem's magnitude. Curtis’ background, from working as a roustabout in Alaska to navigating oil production and distribution's complexities, provided the necessary insight to tackle this issue head-on. The industry's structure illustrates the journey of oil from ground to gas tank and the potential environmental impact at every turn. The Shift to Environmental Stewardship Transitioning from an oil industry veteran to an environmental steward was not just a career change; it was a personal evolution. Faced with the reality of orphan wells' environmental threats, Curtis saw an opportunity to right the wrongs of the past. By adopting wells and taking on the responsibility to cap them, the Well Done Foundation began its quest to heal the land. Embracing the Challenge Tackling the orphan well issue is no small feat. With over three million orphan wells in the U.S., each well presents its own unique challenges and stories. Curtis recognizes the importance of each well's history and its impact on the environment. The Power of Data and Community In the fight against orphan wells, data plays a crucial role. By measuring methane emissions before and after capping wells, the foundation not only proves the effectiveness of its efforts but also sheds light on the severity of the issue. This data-driven approach underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in environmental stewardship. Moreover, the foundation's work is a testament to the power of community and collective action. Through partnerships, donations, and the engagement of volunteers, each capped well represents a victory for the environment and humanity's capacity to come together for the greater good. A Call to Action The Well Done Foundation's journey from an eye-opening encounter in Montana to a nationwide crusade against orphan wells is a call to action. It reminds us that change starts with awareness, that each of us holds the power to make a difference, and that together, we can build a cleaner, more sustainable future. Visit the Well Done Foundation's website at https://welldonefoundation.org/ to learn more about their mission and how you can contribute to capping orphan wells. How to Think Like a Learning Leader With Ryan Hawk

In today's rapidly changing world, the importance of being a learning leader cannot be overstated. On a recent episode  "How to be a Learning Leader" on the TCAST podcast, host Jason Rigby sat down with leadership expert Ryan Hawk to discuss the qualities and strategies necessary for becoming a successful learning leader.   Ryan Hawk, the host of "The Learning Leader Show," began the conversation by sharing his definition of a learning leader. According to Hawk, a learning leader is someone who is committed to their own personal growth and development, and who encourages and enables others to do the same. This requires a deep sense of humility and vulnerability, as well as a willingness to take risks and learn from failure.   So, how can leaders become better learners? Hawk shared several strategies, including building a personal board of advisors, seeking feedback regularly, and embracing failure as a necessary part of the learning process. He emphasized the importance of developing a growth mindset and a willingness to step outside of one's comfort zone in order to try new things and take risks.   Hawk and Rigby also discussed the role of leadership in creating a learning culture within an organization. According to Hawk, this requires setting clear goals, providing ongoing feedback, and creating a safe space for experimentation and innovation. He shared examples of companies that have successfully implemented learning cultures, and the benefits they have seen as a result.   Of course, creating a learning culture is not without its challenges. Resistance to change is a common obstacle that leaders may face when trying to introduce new ways of working and thinking. Hawk emphasized the importance of leading by example and being transparent about the reasons behind the changes, in order to build trust and gain buy-in from team members.   In conclusion, being a learning leader is essential in today's fast-paced, ever-changing business landscape. By embracing a growth mindset, cultivating humility and vulnerability, and creating a learning culture within their organization, leaders can not only benefit their own personal growth, but also the growth and success of their team and organization as a whole.   To learn more about Ryan Hawk and his work as a leadership expert and podcast host, check out "The Learning Leader Show" and his website, LearningLeader.com.   TCAST Live is an education, business, and technology video podcast that informs listeners and viewers on the best practices, theory, and technical functions of the TARTLE exchange system and how it is designed to serve society with the highest and best intentions.   The show is hosted by Co-Founder & Source Data Pioneer Alexander McCaig and Co-Host CMO Jason Rigby.   TARTLE is free to join, forever and can be accessed at WWW.TARTLE.CO

In a world where industries are constantly being disrupted and new technologies are emerging at an unprecedented rate, it can be challenging for leaders to navigate their organizations through these changes. On a recent episode of the TCAST podcast, host Jason Rigby sat down with guest Michael Cirillo, a business consultant and host of "The Dealer Playbook" podcast, to discuss how leaders can navigate disruption and remain competitive in a rapidly changing industry.   Cirillo began by sharing his personal experience navigating disruption as an entrepreneur in his personal life and also in the automotive industry. He emphasized the importance of staying on top of industry trends and being willing to pivot and adapt in response to new challenges and opportunities. This requires a willingness to experiment and take risks, and a deep commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.   Rigby and Cirillo also discussed the role of leadership in creating a culture of innovation within an organization. According to Cirillo, this requires empowering team members to think creatively and take ownership of their work, as well as creating a safe space for experimentation and collaboration. He emphasized the importance of building a diverse team with a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, in order to encourage creativity and new ways of thinking.   Of course, navigating disruption is not without its challenges. Cirillo shared his experience of facing resistance to change from team members who were resistant to new technologies and ways of working. He emphasized the importance of building trust and transparency with team members, and being willing to communicate openly and honestly about the reasons behind the changes.   In conclusion, navigating disruption requires a deep commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, as well as a willingness to experiment and take risks. By empowering team members to think creatively and take ownership of their work, and by creating a culture of innovation and collaboration, leaders can help their organizations remain competitive in an ever-changing industry.   To learn more about Michael Cirillo and his work as a business consultant and podcast host, check out "The Dealer Playbook". Data-Driven Solutions for Healthcare

The healthcare industry has long been known for its complex and rapidly changing landscape. As healthcare organizations continue to grapple with an increasingly competitive and fragmented industry, one of the most critical components of success is the ability to engage members and collect important social needs data. In recent years, TARTLE has emerged as a crucial tool for these organizations, helping them to better understand the needs of their members and develop more targeted and effective care plans. TARTLE provides an ethical and effective way for healthcare organizations to access this data.   Why Data-Driven Solutions are Important for Healthcare Organizations   Data-driven solutions are critical for healthcare organizations for several reasons. First, these solutions provide a way to collect and analyze vast amounts of data about members, including PII, demographic information, medical history, social needs, and more. This data can then be used to develop targeted care plans that address the unique needs of each member. By leveraging this data, healthcare organizations can better engage their members, resulting in improved health outcomes and increased member satisfaction.   Additionally, TARTLE can help healthcare organizations identify areas of improvement within their care delivery processes. For example, by collecting first party data on readmission rates, organizations can identify trends and develop interventions to reduce the likelihood of future readmissions. This not only improves member outcomes but can also result in cost savings for the organization.   Finally, TARTLE can help healthcare organizations to comply with increasingly strict regulatory requirements. For example, under the Affordable Care Act, healthcare organizations are required to collect data on social determinants of health, such as housing instability and food insecurity. TARTLE provide a way for organizations to efficiently collect and analyze this data, ensuring compliance with these requirements.    For more information please visit https://tartle.co/healthcare/   TCAST Live is an education, business, and technology video podcast that informs listeners and viewers on the best practices, theory, and technical functions of the TARTLE exchange system and how it is designed to serve society with the highest and best intentions.   The show is hosted by Co-Founder & Source Data Pioneer Alexander McCaig and Co-Host CMO Jason Rigby.   TARTLE is free to join, forever and can be accessed at WWW.TARTLE.CO

Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights | TCAST Live 369

In recent years, the development and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) have seen significant growth. However, as AI continues to become more integrated into our lives, it is crucial to consider how it is developed and utilized. In the TCAST podcast episode titled "Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights," the hosts discuss the pros and cons of implementing a set of guidelines for the development and use of AI. We will explore the key takeaways from the podcast episode and examine the potential benefits and drawbacks of an AI Bill of Rights.   Pros of the AI Bill of Rights   One of the primary benefits of implementing an AI Bill of Rights is the protection it provides to individuals. AI technology has the potential to be used in ways that may harm individuals' privacy and civil liberties. The implementation of an AI Bill of Rights could help prevent the misuse of AI technology and ensure that individuals' rights are protected. The guidelines could also help establish ethical standards for the development and use of AI, leading to more responsible and accountable practices.   Another advantage of an AI Bill of Rights is the potential for increased transparency. AI algorithms and decision-making processes can be complex and difficult to understand, which can lead to distrust and uncertainty. An AI Bill of Rights could require that the algorithms and decision-making processes be transparent and explainable, helping to build trust and understanding among individuals.   Cons of the AI Bill of Rights   One of the potential drawbacks of implementing an AI Bill of Rights is the potential for stifling innovation. The guidelines could limit the development and implementation of AI technologies, making it difficult for new and innovative technologies to emerge. In addition, the guidelines may not keep pace with the rapid advancements in AI, leading to outdated or ineffective regulations.   Another potential disadvantage is the difficulty of implementing and enforcing the guidelines. The development and use of AI are global, and it may be challenging to ensure that the guidelines are enforced consistently across different countries and cultures. The guidelines may also be challenging to enforce, as it can be challenging to determine whether a specific use of AI violates the guidelines.   Conclusion   The implementation of an AI Bill of Rights has the potential to bring significant benefits to society by protecting individuals' privacy and civil liberties, increasing transparency, and establishing ethical standards for the development and use of AI. However, there are also potential drawbacks, such as limiting innovation and the difficulty of implementing and enforcing the guidelines. Ultimately, the decision of whether to implement an AI Bill of Rights requires careful consideration of the potential benefits and drawbacks, as well as ongoing evaluation and adjustment to ensure that the guidelines remain relevant and effective in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.   TCAST Live is an education, business, and technology video podcast that informs listeners and viewers on best practices, theory, technical functions of the TARTLE exchange system and how it is designed to serve society with the highest and best intentions.   TCAST Live is brought to you by TARTLE. Is the Earth Sentient?

We’ve always known that the earth is alive. But the idea of it having sentience, or a mind of its own, is a fairly recent idea. Does the earth exhibit the same features as other living, sentient organisms like you and I?  The earth having comparable features to a human being is novel. It has skin in the form of its outer and inner crust, an internal thermoregulation system, trees to serve as hair, and rivers that flow like veins. If we realized that our environment was just as human as we are, would we be better inspired to rise to our role as stewards of the earth? Join Alexander and Jason as they explore the possibility of the earth being a living, breathing, thinking being. It’s Time to Do Better According to scientists, the earth remains an immature technosphere. It has networked communication, transportation, computer systems, technology, and power. However, it is still immature because these technologies are not connected to the earth’s systems. Instead, it takes from the earth to produce these devices. This means that the technosphere is working against our progress. We need to start supporting and advocating for technologies that protect the earth. For example, lessening our dependence on fossil fuels because they have a negative impact on the seas and atmosphere. Reducing our carbon footprint to improve air quality. Prioritizing the development of technologies that are energy-efficient and eco-friendly. As long as the technology and energy we use to stay alive are harming the planet, we cannot ensure humanity’s progress. What’s your data worth? Sign up for TARTLE through this link here. The Secret to YOUR Success in Business, Leadership, and Life with Glenn Gow

Join Alexander as he welcomes Glenn Gow to TCAST. Together, they discuss his work as “the architect of CEOs” and the key to success for leaders with a vision. Having an Educational Mindset  According to Glenn, everyone in the Olympics has at least one coach in the back room giving them the motivation and training they need to become high performers. The key to unlocking optimal performance is cultivating an educational mindset and a healthy sense of self-awareness. The Key to High Performance: Adaptation A CEO’s main challenge is to scale alongside their business. This means that they need to move from managing everything across the board to delegating these tasks to experts who are capable of running it on their behalf. As a result, the CEO’s time is freed and they can focus on bringing more value to the organization.   The challenge is that as their organization grows, the strengths that CEOs initially brought to the table may not necessarily be the strengths that it needs to maintain momentum. At this point, the objective perspective of a coach may be necessary for the rising CEO to figure out how they should approach this opportunity for growth. Scaling With the Business One of the indicators that leaders are struggling with the call for growth is in revenue measurement. Typically, CEOs want to grow rapidly and have a plan in place to make that happen. But when the business commits and the team fails to hit the target, the pressure is on - from the board of directors, or the CEOs themselves. Glenn emphasizes that the unique aspect of being a CEO is that you have ultimate responsibility over the entire business. It’s up to you to find the answers to key questions like: what does the management team of your scaling business look like? How about the organizational structure? What work culture has been set in place and how do newcomers to the business understand the essence of that culture?  Self-responsibility will play a key role in the lives of successful leaders. With that said: do you think you’ve got what it takes? What’s your data worth? Sign up for TARTLE through this link here. Follow Alexander McCaig on Twitter and Linkedin. Smishing, Scams, and Human Trafficking

Dealing with the threat of being catfished, phished, or scammed out of your personal information and money online has become a crucial aspect of internet health and safety. Plenty of companies invest heavily in cybersecurity and educational materials to ensure their clients, especially vulnerable parties like the elderly and other underrepresented online communities, do not fall victim to these malicious actors. Join Alexander and Jason as they explore modern technology and cryptocurrency’s relationship with human trafficking and internet scams. Depriving People of Free Will Pig butchering is a special kind of scam where the malicious actor builds up a close relationship with their victim over time, similar to the way that pigs are fattened up before slaughter. There are entire scam centers in Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia, where people have been deceived and trafficked specifically to man these locations.  On a less direct level, tech companies are playing the long game with your attention span and data. You are being bombarded with offers, discounts, promotions, and information every minute you spend online with the end goal of getting you addicted to their reality.    The very act of donning an AR or VR headset is disconcerting because it cuts you off from the world in a very physical sense. All the sensory and peripheral information you’re used to receiving is cut off and you are hyper-focused on what the technology feeds you. Avoiding Dystopia in the Metaverse Every opportunity for worldbuilding comes with the threat of creating a dystopia. It’s easy to live under false pretenses. But the disrespect for human autonomy, free will, and the value of work will eventually have a negative impact on our society.   If we start working against this today, we still have the time to change the course of technological development. As data champions, we need to ensure that the technology designed does not squander our free will and replace a human beings. Rather, it should become an extension of our personhood, and the embodiment of respect for our free will. What’s your data worth? Sign up for TARTLE through this link here. How Big Data Hurts the Environment & What YOU Can Do to Help

Alexander McCaig and Jason Rigby discuss the dangers of relying on centralization and data centers for the environment, society, and the progress of humanity. They also talk about how a recent explosion in one of Google’s Iowa-based data centers, followed by massive outages around the world, led to three electricians being injured.  Building on an Unstable Foundation Imagine the chaos that would happen if Google Maps just stopped working for a day. The average civilian no longer had the technology they needed to find the fastest routes to work and get a birds-eye view of the traffic in their city. Businesses and restaurants would struggle to help customers find their brick-and-mortar locations. Food delivery riders would have to map out routes on their own. A day without the Maps could set us back by several days in terms of global efficiency. This just shows how fragile the internet and data processing is. Technology has become a part of our society’s foundation. But have we engineered and regulated it to be foolproof? Is It Time to Decentralize? Data blips can cripple society for far longer than the actual occurrence. So when they do happen, Jason believes that we need to look at the cloud and understand how we are missing out because we rely on centralized systems to process our information. We could, instead, use the combined processing power that all of our individual smartphones and devices have to decentralize the system and manage how the internet functions from there. As blockchain technology develops, becomes more efficient, and is integrated into society, this should be the future of how we deal with data. There is no reason to keep a centralized server system when all our individual devices can have the power to run everything decentralized. What’s your data worth? Revealing Our Top BIG Takes on Google, Microchips, & Data Now

Join Alexander and Jason as they discuss how geopolitical tensions are destabilizing the chip manufacturing industry - and what this means for the future of technology. Continued Geopolitical Tensions Affect Chip Supply Chips are important for cars, smartphones, and medical equipment. The world is currently experiencing a chip shortage, which has led to limited production of new vehicles and smartphones. This means that people must grapple with higher prices for these products. One main reason behind the shortage is the geopolitical tension between Taiwan and China.  Taiwan is home to more than 90 percent of the manufacturing capacity for the world’s most advanced semiconductors, which are a crucial component for making chips. In addition, the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is also the world’s largest and most critical chip manufacturer.  China’s refusal to recognize Taiwan as a sovereign country, as well as its own means that the rest of the world must work with restricted access to this stronghold of chip manufacturing.  Honing American Competitive Edge in Chip Manufacturing In anticipation of the decrease in chip supply, the United States Congress has passed the CHIPS and Science Act, signed by Joe Biden, which would have more than $200 billion invested in semiconductor chip manufacturing over the next five years. These latest measures to stimulate the local chip manufacturing industry raise concerns on whether taxpayers’ money is going to be used to create a monopoly for existing companies. This would stifle competition and create a situation similar to Wall Street, where the industry would eventually become “too big to fail.” A collapse in chip manufacturing would cripple the entire economy. Furthermore, Alexander and Jason point out the need for American manufacturers and data centers to offer competitive wages to workers. The wage gap between the jobs offered locally and the ones offered in Taiwan can make the move to another country more tempting. The resulting loss of talent would have a clear impact on the US. If the United States is to succeed in its goal of becoming a big player in the chip manufacturing industry, it will need better protections against monopolistic mega industries and unfair labor practices. Free, Data-Driven Education That Empowers Humanity Here and Now

We cannot understate the ubiquity and importance of data in a world where everyone is plugged into the internet. Data is everything; it’s the record of who you are in humanity and it has every action that all human beings have taken here on this globe. Join Alexander and Jason as they discuss the second learning module available at TARTLE University.  Finding Opportunities to Secure Your Data Data security should be a high priority on two fronts. First, people should be taught that their information is valuable. They need to have the tools and equipment available to store, and secure their personal information.  Second, people also need the opportunity to earn from their hard work. We produce data by the second:. What is TARTLE Here For? Data, Empowerment, Choice, and You

We cannot understate the ubiquity and importance of data in a world where everyone is plugged into the internet. Data is everything; it’s the record of who you are in humanity and it has every action that all human beings have taken here on this globe. Join Alexander and Jason as they discuss the second learning module available in TARTLE University. Our geographical location, heartbeat, choices, and actions are all information we may be generating based on the settings we have on our devices.  However, today’s status quo puts us in an uncomfortable position. We are being harvested for our data by institutions and entities that do not necessarily have our best interests at heart. Today, we are made to choose between maintaining the status quo and leaving power in the hands of other people–or claiming what’s rightfully ours by supporting the platforms that support us. Empowering Your Personal Choices If you have an internet connection, you are capable of accessing TARTLE. TARTLE gives you the ability to fill out secure, encrypted, data packets that you are free to sell at your own pace. Get Your Degree While Earning Money From Your Data Assets Here

What if you could get paid to learn more about your data? Join Alexander McCaig and Jason Rigby in this special episode on TARTLE University learning modules.  We live in a world where other people reap the benefits of our hard work. For decades, we have been kept in the dark about the power of our data–but now is our chance to change that. Through TARTLE, we have the opportunity to empower, equalize, and take ownership of our own data.  The Power of Data Today, data is a crucial part of scaling businesses. Companies need to know more about their audience, their processes, and their products. There are so many blind spots that only information can answer.    TARTLE is a free marketplace that empowers the seller and buyer of data. It’s a nonprofit platform that facilitates ethical data sharing. Continued usage of this platform gives us the opportunity to change our perspective of data, and see it as the fundamental record of truth that can help us elevate all human understanding.  We emphasize how the platform is a free and public marketplace because it is only through these features that empowerment can truly be achieved for both buyers and sellers. Regardless of race, religion, color, or creed, anyone can participate in the process of sharing data.  Invest in Your Empowerment Ultimately, TARTLE has a proven, consistent track record of being transparent in every single process. Every step is meant to involve the end users, without the platform taking anything from any transaction.  It’s time we invest in platforms that have the best interests of humanity at heart.  What’s your data worth? Back to the Source: Why YOU Need TARTLE to Win at Data

How much effort should you put into creating new things? With all the technologies available to us now, data and scalable algorithms will be the key to making sure that businesses grow effectively. Join Alexander and Jason as they explore what it means to have a “quantum advantage” for your business today. Unlocking the Quantum Advantage for Businesses Part of the article that is discussed in this episode puts forward the long-term goal of reaching a “quantum advantage for materials, to utilize quantum computing to achieve capabilities that cannot be achieved on any super computer today.”   While the possibilities are endless and it’s exciting to think about all the innovation that could happen when we reach that point, let’s not put the cart before the horse. We need to establish a foundation so that these futuristic tools can become a reality. If applied quantum algorithms continue to break down despite the complexity and sophistication with which they were made, then this means that researchers need to go back and reassess the technologies supporting it in the first place. Efficient Data Collection and Education How can TARTLE help businesses become more efficient with data collection?  In this episode, Alexander shares how a local natural gas company in New Mexico sends out paper surveys in the mail. This company invests in this system and hopes that someone will take the time to diligently fill out their 15-question survey and mail it back to them.  Investing in mail is expensive and it does not target the intended audience. Instead, they can digitize the survey and collect the information they need directly from the people who participate in that region with oil and gas. Beyond data collection, they can also increase awareness about their industry by embedding educational videos to teach people as they collect their data. What’s your data worth? It’s Time We Ring the Alarm: What Do the Bigwigs Do With Our Data?

One petabyte of information is equal to 500 billion pages of standard printed text. The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), the EU’s watchdog, has made a shocking discovery: Europol has a data cache that’s at least four petabytes, filled with sensitive personal information that was unlawfully collected and held. Join Alexander and Jason as they discuss Europol’s massive, controversial data cache–and the disturbing implications of the institution’s actions. They’re Watching You Have you ever given a second thought about what it means to turn on your smartphone’s Location setting? Or what would happen if you clicked on Accept All Cookies whenever you entered a new website?  Since most of us live as creatures of habit, our small decisions to use these settings and forget about them can have a big impact. Without your informed consent, they could plot out your entire schedule. Your favorite places to eat and hang out, the gym you go to, your workplace.  Everything can be accessed and filed away. Europol is primed to become the center of machine learning and AI in policing. And yet, the bloc’s watchdog has uncovered a dark truth: that they have been unlawfully storing information secondary or tertiary to their investigations. Hacked data from encrypted phone services and information from asylum seekers who were never involved in any crime have been stowed away without the full, informed consent of those involved. Nobody is Safe It’s true: we need to trust that our government institutions have our best interests at heart. But if they can’t even be upfront about the amount of information they have on their citizens, then that leaves so much room for misuse and manipulation. In this episode, Jason narrates the story of Frank van der Linde. Van der Linde, a political activist, was placed on a terror watchlist in his native Netherlands and later removed. However, he had moved to Berlin before the removal and this prompted the Dutch police to share his data with their German counterparts and Europol. After discovering this, he attempted to have his personal data removed from any international databases. But Europol told him that they had nothing he was “entitled to have access to.” Van der Linde’s situation is a wake-up call to the harms associated with a lack of transparency. Behind his back, Europol shared his personal information with the German police. In the name of public security, it’s possible for police to share data with other police in other countries. But why is it so difficult to share this data with us? How quickly can we get persecuted for speaking the truth to power? Your data is worth your life. Find Out How Your Business Can Win at Data and Succeed Now

Automation, data collection, machine learning, and artificial intelligence was developed to make humanity more efficient. But in many ways, the complete opposite happens.  When companies prioritize setting up multiple streams of data over investing in data management or data analytics, then the flood of data will eventually become overwhelming. It is crucial that businesses have a system and process for collecting, using, and managing data.  IT and HR departments, in particular, face this issue the most. Plenty of teams do not have the expertise in data analytics to make the most out of the data being collected. There are so many tools for data collection, but the true utility of data is out of reach in many cases. Join Alexander and Jason as they question modern data collection methods, and how it can be improved to create a win-win situation for both businesses and their target audience. Is “Too Much Data” a Possibility? Imagine having data collection software that could track employee behavior, keystrokes, morale, and employee sentiments. Or having companies tap into Fitbits and Apple Watches so they can monitor your health and keep wellness costs done. Aside from the fact that this sounds like something out of George Orwell’s 1984, your target audience would want to know, at the very least, that all the data that’s being collected is being treated with dignity and respect.  Today, data is an extension of an individual’s identity. It has information on personal habits, whereabouts, and relationships. Individuals must hold businesses, applications, and institutions to a higher level of accountability when it comes to managing personal data. On the other side of the coin, businesses need to invest in tools and platforms that respect the digital identity of their target audience.  Treating Data With Respect Data analytics isn’t something that you should do on your own and it definitely isn’t something you should shoehorn into your HR or IT department. Instead of ingesting multiple streams at once and then cramming for solutions to overcome the flood, TARTLE gives businesses an avenue to go directly to the individuals who create these data streams and buy their information from them.  TARTLE was built to give companies they need to source ethical data. There is no need to invest in third party programs and backdoor applications that disenfranchise either you or your audience. On TARTLE, everybody gets the compensation they deserve for working on their data. What’s your data worth? Sign up for TARTLE through this link here. Follow Alexander McCaig on Twitter and Linkedin.

The Mark of the Beast: Will the World End Because of Technology?

If you’ve ever been remotely interested in conspiracy theories, you may have heard of the one where technology will eventually innovate to a point where it becomes a vessel for the mark of the beast. The mark of the beast is a biblical term for a symbol for the Antichrist, or opposition to God. In this episode, Alexander and Jason discuss modern theories that parallel this mark to biometric scanning, barcode, and the implantable RFID chip. Renewed and Informed Consent in Data Collection Companies and governments using COVID-19 to collect biometric data on us and enforcing more data collection under the guise of public safety or convenience. This episode covers how often, companies assume that they can expand upon our initial consent for data collection. But consent needs to be renewed on a regular basis, especially as humanity explores new ways to collect and utilize data. The oversight on our daily activities goes beyond cameras. All the apps we invest in and all the platforms we use are watching us. And once we agree to have them collect our data, where will our personal information go?  Ensuring Public Safety in a Free Society Do you only ever get either a free society or the assurance of public safety? Humanity has managed to progress, building safe and healthy societies for hundreds of years without the heavy surveillance that we experience today.  Today, the right to control our digital information is an extension of our civil liberties. Sharing your data is not inherently bad and it doesn’t mean that only malicious actors will want your information.  When you invest in platforms that recognize the hard work you put into generating all this data, you can get paid for it. You can choose who to sell your data to. And you can make sure that your hard work directly benefits institutions, actors, and entities that align with your personal values. What’s your data worth? How Old is Old Enough? Collecting Data on Children in Gaming and Healthcare

Gillick competence refers to a child’s capacity to consent to their own medical treatment without their parents or guardians having to know or give their consent.  But in an era where we are always giving out our personal information through our digital footprint, does this measure for consent still hold water? And if it applies to healthcare, why doesn’t it apply to other industries, like gaming? Join Alexander and Jason as they challenge today’s norms on parenting, data collection, and a child’s capacity to make informed decisions. Helicopter Parenting Human progress has reached a point where many of us are privileged to be living comfortable lives. However, this may have come at a cost: an increased aversion to taking risks, exploring freedom, and allowing independence. This extends to the way society believes parents should raise their children. Helicopter parenting, for the most part, does result in some short-term benefits. The constant surveillance means that children learn how to succeed in a closed environment. However, the reality is that parents won’t always be there to enforce a strict routine and study schedule. At some point, children need to be given the opportunity to explore the world at their own pace.  Empowering the Next Generation Gillick competence can be established if the minor can demonstrate that they have “sufficient understanding and intelligence to fully understand what is proposed.” With all the fearmongering and biased media we consume on a daily basis, it can be easy to think of the worst of humanity. Allowing children to live, for as long as they can, away from making big decisions for themselves may seem like the smarter and more loving choice.  But the way children are treated in their youth will leave indelible marks on the people they grow into. If we want to help empower children and raise independent adults, we need to give them the space and grace to make big decisions for themselves. As discussed in this episode, children are a lot more capable than we give them credit for. And the innate human desire to do the right thing, backed by statistics, indicates that the world is not as scary as we think it is. Helicopter parenting only serves to isolate children and hinder their personal development. Is it really empowerment if they only know how to succeed in a vacuum? Watch Our BIG Take on Human Rights, Tech, & Governments Now!

If you think you’re safe in your own head, think again. How far do you believe the government would go to find out what you’re thinking, every second of every day?  Ethical data collection is a serious concern that we need to make a conscious decision on. We need to start using the right platforms so we can regain control of our digital identity and reclaim our sovereignty. Join Alexander McCaig and Jason Rigby as they discuss how the United States Corporation, under the guise of good governance, is using your data to control your future. Respecting Your Privacy Privacy is out the window when the government drones are looking in. Any government knows that the more high-quality data they have on their citizens, the greater their ability to make educated and controlled decisions over the future of their citizens. Even when we do not actively use the internet, we produce data every day. It is an extension of our freedom of speech. Data is the result of our hard work and the manifestation of our inner thoughts.  So when the government is feeding itself with terabytes of data on a daily basis, it’s a strategic move to try and understand how you work as their constituent. After all, if they can understand how their people move, they can manipulate the flow of their movements in the name of safety and security. Feeding the United States Corporation Today, war isn’t so much physical as it is digital. All the battlefields are online. The government has so much data and they will probably continue to gather data from you at every chance they get.  If the government wants to have terabytes of data bulk delivered to their system every day as part of their goals to expand the corporation? Make them buy it from people. Maintain your securities, civil liberties, privacy, and confidentiality. Your data is worth the effort. Sign up for TARTLE through this link here. TARTLE's Active Role in Helping YOU Win on the Internet

Transitioning From Web 2.0 to Web 3.0 Previously, the internet was ruled by platform monopolies and highly regulated financial systems. Think of how society used to structure office buildings: giant, centralized areas with a centralized authority, where those in power could keep a strict eye over the rest of us.  But now, we’ve opened our eyes to the power of working remotely. People are in the sovereignty and privacy of their own homes. That’s how the internet should be. Protecting Your Assets Online An asset is stored work. It’s anything that was created through a person’s energy and time. On the internet, you are constantly creating information.  Every time you choose to scroll through your feed, react to a post, or make a status, your movements are being recorded. Believe it or not, these small things are valuable information. It all builds up to create your digital identity. The TARTLE Toolbox What can TARTLE offer people? A private TARTLE wallet that only they can use and access. The capacity to initiate secure transactions on an open marketplace, where people come to buy these digital assets. The ability to sell data for a digital currency and withdraw US dollars. An internal polling system for research. Shared data with provenance, everything verifiable up to the source. Complete self-custody of your information. Basically, you have complete control over whether you share your information–and when you do choose to share it, you get paid for your efforts. Work Your Weight in Gold: Bringing Back Sovereignty With TARTLE

An Economy Built on Debt Papers Gold is not just a piece of metal. It’s a cultural statement. It’s a message of power. Throughout history, we associated a strong cultural significance to gold.  So when the gold standard was replaced by the Bretton-Woods system, we allowed the central bank to effectively seize control over the value of human work. They took all our gold, manipulated supply, controlled pricing, and consequently controlled society. It’s impossible to hold them accountable for their actions. Today, we adopt an economic system that plays right into their hands. We live and work for US Dollars. The gold standard is now in the hands of the elite few. You receive payment in systems of currency they determine the value of. Media’s Role in Shaping Bias We cannot say for certain that the mainstream media outlets we are used to getting our information from, have not been backed by influential authorities who can influence monetary policy. We’re supposed to have conscious control over most aspects of our lives. But in today’s society, our perspective is controlled by the outlets we choose to endorse. The nature of social media outlets is that they reinforce whatever biases we already have. This way, we are trapped in our own echo chambers and divided. How Do We Value Our Hard Work? The most valuable asset we can give, as human beings, is time. And if we are put to work for the rest of our lives, the institutions have already taken everything from us. We clock in and die out. If we want things to change, then we need to start supporting platforms and systems that do not have a vested interest over our lives. It is imperative that we take control of our data and share our information on networks that treat us with respect.  We should get to decide how our efforts are valued. How to Save Our Scorched Earth Before It's Too Late

Let’s talk about how we need to stop our legacy of violence now. Every time we develop new technologies, it’s used without thinking of the spillover effects on other people and on nature. Fire, the plow, planes, the nuclear bomb–our biggest priority is making sure that it makes our life convenient, even if it has to come at the expense of others Today, we have built an incredibly polarized world. Some of us live in unrivaled comfort and luxury, while an astounding number of people struggle to put food on the table. We have all this technology to order new items and objects for our consumption. How long will we continue to take and take from the vulnerable and the defenseless? Stop the Cycle Now We, as humans, continue to self-reinforce global issues caused by our presence. Natural disasters and the lack of resources will continue to shorten our life spans unless we start recognizing what is happening. The increase of environmental refugees is a testament to how poorly we are treating our world and other people through our inaction. Sweltering summers. Deadly diseases. No clean water. An alarming lack of livable space in a planet where human population and consumption continues to rise. There is no time for politics in ensuring the quality of life for all humans. Are we innovating fast enough to turn things around? Let the Earth Heal The data is showing us that we are approaching the end of days. It’s time to change the way we live and work. And the first step is to stop giving our sovereignty to the politicians, and our economic sovereignty to the banks. Corporations won’t be capable of solving this. We need to be the ones to tell them what to do. This is a call for us to come together and use our individual experiences to make the data meaningful. Everything we need to know is condensed into data now. It’s time for us to find out: what’s our data worth?

UNLIMITED Benefits in the Future of Tech and the Metaverse

Tech development is starting to take a closer look at the human aspect of the internet. Web 3.0 is all about stepping away from centralization and caring for the end user and their experience.  This means that in the future, power is placed back in the hands of individuals. We have to relearn how we use and interact with the internet. So, what’s your role in the evolution of technology? What’s a Trade-Off You Can Accept? Alexander and Jason have a deep discussion on the trade-offs people have to face in tech development, following research posted by Jamie Burke entitled “Building in the Metaverse.” Moving forward, each element within the metaverse’s system will require developers to make a decision between open/shared or closed/gated and proprietary.  Aspects like the user persona, in-world assets, economics, content, software backend and more can all be tweaked to either be open or closed to some degree.  However, there will always be imperfections, regardless of your system’s design. For example, a DAO would have to have leaders who are meant to represent everyone—but these leaders may eventually try swaying the votes to their favor. On a C-Suite level, these leaders could also hold private meetings with one another and try gaming the entire system. Essentially, the voting process ends up becoming centralized. These are issues we have to deal with while we are at the start of innovating new technologies. Giving outside forces an avenue to monopolize these developments lessens the capacity for these technologies to represent the will of the people. Stop Being a TARTLE NPC One aspect we are proud of telling our employees at TARTLE is that they are working, not to become the main character of the story, but to be the Sherpas of the people on the ground.  Everybody, regardless of socioeconomic status or location, is fighting their own battles and climbing their own mountains. Our role here isn’t to become the hero of the journey. It’s to help you realize that you are capable of empowering yourself and owning that role.  Some people only ever become NPCs in the game of life. They sign up for TARTLE, open up the opportunity to start their heroic journey, and then never take the next step.  Others choose to walk that journey, take charge of their data, own their power, and get paid for it. This is your sign to make that choice. What trade-off are you willing to accept? Sign up for TARTLE through this link here.

TARTLE's Secret Campaign to Stop Poverty Today is Out NOW

According to the World Bank, the global poverty line stands at $1.90. It’s the bare minimum people need to afford basic needs. Of course, there’s more to poverty than money. The lack of access to other non-monetary indicators like education, water, electricity, and sanitation, to name a few, all work together to create a multidimensional system that keeps people entrenched in poverty.  But if we can eliminate at least one facet of such a complex system, then we will already have succeeded. The elimination of one crucial aspect of poverty can give people the foundation they need to go beyond. This is what TARTLE wants to commit to with the Data Packets for Good campaign. We want to help individuals living in a constant state of fear, who need the opportunity to empower themselves. Through intensive research and survey of our own users, we’ve discovered that we have the ability to move people above the global poverty line.  In this campaign, you do not need to be a TARTLE user. For only $2.78, you have the power to move a family out of the poverty line for a day. Your entire contribution goes directly to these people who are in deep need of economic opportunity.  You have the power to help someone secure their next meal and focus on improving other aspects of their life: education, livelihood, and moving out of poverty as a whole. We Are Capable: It's Time to Empower Women and the Elderly With Susan Douglas

When did we decide to box out women and the elderly from the rest of society? Despite being just as capable (if not moreso) than the rest, there is a tendency to withhold opportunities for women and the aged.  Susan Douglas points out that there are more women over 50 in the United States now than ever before. So what does this mean, and what kind of paradigm shift can we expect?  How the Media Shapes Perception, Creates Bias For decades, media industries have been governed primarily by older white men. This means that the perspective of women—especially older women—have been left out. In addition, the advertising industry is incredibly youth-oriented. Susan believes that this is caused by the misconception that if you start liking a product when you’re young, they have your attention for life.  These two industries have created an interaction in bias where older women are no longer relevant. But what’s interesting is that there is a steady trend of older female celebrities who are fighting back. For example, the Grace and Frankie show on Netflix became a huge hit because it’s giving society a chance to look at older women in a new perspective. The reality is that older women on the ground are living their lives very differently than their peers of a previous generation—and thankfully, Hollywood is beginning to catch up to this demographic revolution. Women Coming Together for Dialogue “Feminism does not end when you're 50 years old, right? Feminism should be a mode of support and sustenance and activism throughout your whole life.” - Susan Douglas Susan points out the need for older women to reach out to younger women, starting discussions on what it means to be a feminist and what it means to age. We are bombarded by advertisements that encourage older women to “defy aging,” as if it isn’t an inevitable biological process.  We need to address ageism in our society. It’s the one issue everybody has to go through eventually. People in their seventies and eighties aren’t lonely, decrepit, antisocial creatures. They are fully functioning human beings who enjoy being physically and sexually active. Closing Remarks The United States is lagging behind when it comes to age equity and quality of life for women. It’s time we change that narrative by focusing on structural change. This includes the inequitable distribution of wealth and gerrymandering, for example.  Change will take more than a shift in perception. We also need to act on structural barriers for the disenfranchised. And this goes beyond women and the elderly. Support minorities through informed, tech-driven initiatives.Sign up for TARTLE here.

Are We Safe in the Metaverse? Why Only TARTLE Can Help

Here are some things you need to know about the metaverse.  First off, Alexander and Jason believe that the metaverse is an individual human’s choice on what they say is their reality. Second, it’s not some far-off end goal that your grandkids are eventually going to discover. The metaverse is already starting to happen in the here and now.  Lastly, the lines between the physical and the digital have blurred significantly. When we rely on our perception to decide on our definition of reality, what happens to our values, beliefs, and relationships when we have the technology needed to simulate all the physical aspects of this world? Lost in Translation Between Physical and Digital Most of society is lost in the digital. We spend so much time projecting our lives on the internet through the perfect photos and the wittiest posts. But this isn’t an ideal system, or even a healthy one for human beings. We are not getting paid for all the work we put into refining our identity online. Beyond that, the movement from physical to digital means that a lot of the physical comforts that may be denied to us in the real world can now be pursued freely online. And when people are looking for a dopamine rush, they’re bound to go for what’s most readily available. Think of virtual reality porn and Oculus goggles.  If we must face a future with the metaverse, we need to think about the kind of values we would want that technology to emulate for humanity.  Closing Thoughts TARTLE believes in a user-centric metaverse, where everyone can access the platform and use it to empower themselves through their own hard work. You have the power to create and share your data, get paid for your efforts, and withdraw that payment so you can use it for your benefit.  These are real and tangible benefits that were derived from a purely digital platform. A seamless back-and-forth between the physical and the digital. It’s a balanced and humane application of a metaverse. Sign up for TARTLE through this link here.

Beware of the Avatar: TARTLE's Mission to Make the Metaverse Humane

How do you understand the metaverse? It’s on its way and it’s going to change the world. One day, you will have the power to load all of your senses into the online space. You’ll see, hear, and touch a digital landscape. And at the pace that this technology is developing right now, we may even be smelling and tasting things online as well.   The pace of innovation we are experiencing today was first made possible with Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG), especially World of Warcraft (WoW). The opportunity to charge into battle as a worgen hunter or draeneian priest captured everyone’s imagination. This was your chance to train a highly customized character in an open world with its own economic system, political controversies, and social structure. A few years later, the next big step is taken: virtual reality headsets. You’ve effectively gone from a third-party perspective of another world to a first-person point of view.  Preserving Humanity in the Metaverse Before the metaverse can happen, Alexander and Jason discuss the benefits of developing augmented reality even further. It’s the next natural step in the evolution of technology; the chance to “overlay our eyeballs.”  We can swap out the physical world for a full immersion into a digital landscape.  While this would be a massive step forward for humanity, a lack of people-centered foresight could mean that augmented reality (and subsequently, the metaverse) may become a place that brings out the worst in people.  Imagine how emboldened trolls are on social media platforms, and then take it up a notch. Those trolls will have the same access to avatars and the metaverse that you do. They’ll hide behind the same tools that you use to connect with other people—and the scary part is that they might not have to face any penalties for their behavior. Closing Thoughts The TARTLE metaverse exists so that people have the opportunity to understand their self-worth. It’s a platform that treats people as empowered individuals instead of animals on a data farm. Eventually, we will be exploring a world without physical boundaries. Amidst all these changes, we need to ensure that the technologies we develop continue to put humans first. Sign up for TARTLE through this link here.

How TARTLE is a Symbol of Hope and Change

If you are an entrepreneur, you can probably relate to that adrenaline rush or feeling of butterflies in your stomach when you first opened your business. Regardless of whether your business failed or succeeded or you’ve moved on to another venture, there was that one point where everything chaotic suddenly focused on one main target.  That’s the beauty of entrepreneurship. It’s an opportunity to engineer new things, tinker with novel ideas, and contribute to the evolution of a product or service. Alexander likened this process to that of walking into a forest and finding the perfect flower. “I have to slowly change my path. I have to change the time of day when I go out there. When is the sun going to hit? Is it going to be in bloom?” he explained.  “It's that tinkering. It's that acting over, and over, and over, and over through the randomness of everything occurring in this forest, in this total ecosystem. And I funneled through the entropy and found that just small changes have led me towards a solution.” Government Regulation is Pesticide One of the biggest reasons why entrepreneurs fail is a lack of cash flow. And as it turns out, the currency used plays a pivotal role in this problem. In the podcast, Alexander and Jason mull over Breedlove’s article, entitled Bitcoin is Hope, which discusses how Bitcoin can shift the store of value beyond debt and into a decentralized network. This would stabilize businesses and allow them to operate at incredibly low costs. In this scenario, Bitcoin isn’t just a store of value, but the system that your business operates in. A decentralized network allows businesses to take action on their own, instead of fighting everyone else for grants or struggling to come up with the capital to pay upfront. However, the value of Bitcoin can still be manipulated. When it comes to providing a platform where people know that their work is secured and is identified as their property. Expectations vs Reality on Human Progress, Experience, & Our Existence

Your government is a Ponzi scheme. Yes, we’re talking about all governments. Think of all the money being printed out by the central bank just to cover all the debt that’s being incurred, while they’re simultaneously encouraging more investors to enter the system. It’s a long cycle of paying earlier investors with funds from recent investors, and all that debt gets transferred to the shoulders of the general public. Yes, people like you. So much social engineering goes into making sure that you are controlled by money. The truth is it’s just a piece of paper. “It's no longer actual, like a certificate to trade it back in for gold or something else. It's a note. It's debt. We're just, we're throwing debt around, you work so someone else can print more and make your work worth less,” Alexander explained. As the system grows, more people join, earn debt, and pay back into it. The people issuing are the ones who get more funds. The ones at the top are earning big. The one thing that the government cannot regulate, no matter how hard they try, is trade. Trade is incredibly dynamic and grows alongside humans. It adapts and comes from all different areas. It’s a core human activity—one that TARTLE is passionate about preserving. Here’s the Key. Unlock Your Cage. Your existence is highly improbable. Imagine the long list of successful choices your ancestors make so that you could become a living, breathing, and thinking being.  Going through the daily motions of working, eating, and sleeping can make it difficult to think of the bigger picture. But you deserve to have opportunities where you can connect, find meaning, and explore the world around you. No false sense of scarcity. No limits. TARTLE was made to allow that sense of independence and connection. On this platform, all transactions occur exclusively between a buyer and a seller. Everything on the platform comes with no strings attached and was made because someone worked hard to create it. Conversely, everything you bring to the platform is borne out of your own efforts. You will get paid for your hard work and no one else. Transact in truth. Act with power. It’s time to step out of that cage. Sign up for TARTLE through this link here.

Empower Yourself and Benefit! Sign Up for TARTLE Now

The hardest thing for most human beings is to hold themselves responsible for their actions. If you can relate, there's no shame in that. It could be because it’s easier to ignore everything that didn’t work out in your favor, or because it’s easier to pass the buck to someone else. Maybe you’re used to delegating responsibility to other people. It can be difficult to strike a balance between fulfilling our tasks and making sure that we respectfully interact with the world around us. As humans, we have our limits—and our capacity to take on responsibility is shaped by the lives we live, the values we hold, and the people that we share our lives with. So what’s one way we can have a healthier relationship with responsibility? It doesn’t need to be this big problem you need to ignore or hand it to someone else. When we view responsibility as a burden instead of an opportunity, it can complicate our relationships with others and ourselves. We may find ourselves constantly on the offensive, rather than unifying and seeking understanding. Take Up Space. Reclaim Your Choices. Ironically, the choices we make to live an easy life make things harder in the long run. If we put off stretching because we feel lazy, our bodies break down faster. If we choose to binge on fast food and snacks because they’re delicious, our health deteriorates faster as well. This is also applicable on an emotional and social level. If we avoid voicing out our concerns or asking questions because we’re afraid of looking stupid or rocking the boat, we could bottle up assumptions and negative emotions until the situation becomes messy.  It’s common to limit ourselves and try to take up as little space as possible. We’ve created technology and algorithms meant to run the markets on our behalf. But the reality is as humans, we’re built to experience much more.  Closing Thoughts TARTLE is built to reward honesty, responsibility, and good decisions. When you reclaim your ability to inner engineer your actions, you can reorient your path in a more positive direction. You can use all that data you’re giving away for free to fund your lifestyle, track and improve your decisions, support causes that you care about, and more. It’s time to ditch the path of least resistance. Responsibility is empowerment. Informed choice is connection. You have final human freedom. How We Benefit from TARTLE in Community, Memory, and the Future

The internet has become a massive, all-encompassing place for people from all walks of life to gather and share everything they’re passionate about. It can be a place to bond over hobbies like books, movies, music, and TV series. It could also be a tool for earning money. Stocks, cryptocurrency, forex, and other investment options have become more accessible to the people on the ground in this exciting new digital age. That’s why it’s no surprise to us, as Jason mentions, that creativity will soon run on the blockchain. The rise of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) has allowed content creators and artists to publicize their work and create an unbreakable chain of ownership of their output. Take Your Phone Back Imagine we ask you for your phone and you give it to us. If you need to call, text, or access the internet, we’ll do it for you—all you need to do is tell us. We’ll type in your passwords, messages, and personal information. We’ll be your conduit to the internet. Sounds uncomfortable, right? But that’s what you’re letting big tech get away with today. With TARTLE, we turn that around. You get your phone back. We leave the room and give you the key to the door. That way, you can lock it from the inside whenever you want some time alone. We’ll knock to let you know if we’re coming in and if we do, we’ll give you the space and dignity you need as a fellow human being. Your rights are respected in our community. Make Good Choices, Get Better Outcomes According to Alexander, one of the most beneficial AI algorithms for a human being is one where people are allowed to say this: I made these choices. This is my outcome. And this outcome was not good for me. This gives us the power to analyze the course of our life, instead of just following where outside forces take us. On a wider scale, we could apply this concept of a digital ledger to government policy and trace the outcomes of its implementation.  Alexander adds that humanity is bad at remembering. If we aren’t careful, we end up rehashing and slowing down our evolution. It’s time we endorse tools that help us pay attention, recognize patterns, and grow.Sign up for TARTLE through this link here.

How to Succeed at Saving the Climate and Our Future With Mark Jaccard

Our pace of innovation comes at a heavy cost. The price of innovating new technologies has led to extensive environmental harm in the past few decades alone. So how can we come together and answer the climate emergency before it’s too late? Mark Jaccard has a keen focus on energy efficiency and systems. His work is dedicated to discovering how they should be used and engineered for our future. In this episode, Alexander McCaig discusses climate stability in the backdrop of Mark’s book, entitled The Citizen’s Guide to Climate Success. Making Climate Stability Possible Across Borders Awareness encourages political action. Policies that mitigate the emission of greenhouse gasses, for example, are going to be crucial in saving the environment. Mark Jaccard believes that this phenomenon is already happening in developed areas, such as Canada, the United States, and Europe.  What’s important to consider is that we don’t have to make everybody agree. As Mark points out, the world has successfully acted on ozone-depleting substances such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). While not everybody understood the full breadth of the problem, the governments of developed countries were prepared to act. However, Mark also believes that making climate stability a priority in developing countries will be one of the world’s most pressing issues. This is because while CFCs are mostly generated in developed countries, the bigger problem is in developing areas where inferior refrigeration technologies cause more harm to the environment.  In addition, the level of awareness is much lower. It’s not just because of lower levels of education. The reality is also that people in developing areas have very different priorities. It’s difficult to tackle long-term and large-scale issues like the environment when your day-to-day welfare is constantly challenged. How We Can Ensure Climate Stability To effectively tackle the climate change issue, we need to address several realities. First, greenhouse gas emissions will continue to grow and will be especially prevalent in the developing world. Second, energy use on the planet will increase. Mark believes that preventing the worst of climate change calls for energy systems that don’t emit CO2, especially in the developing world. This is why, he explains, his book doesn’t just call for individuals to change their behavior. It’s also about how we can hold communities and governments, at large, accountable. To make this happen, Mark suggests global diplomacy. Tariffs and sanctions will send the message that the climate is a global problem, and you need to be a part of the solution. Since this kind of action takes place between governments, many view this as a top-down approach. However, Mark emphasizes that this approach needs to be paired with an effort to raise awareness on the ground. Fossil Fuels and the Growing Energy Crisis In addition, Mark believes that climate stability can be achieved when we refine our approach to fossil fuels. They produce plenty of quality energy (which Mark refers to as “exergy) and as we move away from fossil fuels, we can still use them by converting them into hydrogen and electricity, and capturing the carbon dioxide. For as long as humans exist, we will indulge in energy-intensive activities that hurt the environment. However, it is possible that as our quality of life improves, so does the rate of energy used per person. Mark points out that this is already occurring in Europe and North America.  Also, we can invest in building additional infrastructures for fossil fuels so that we can still enjoy its high energy quality without harming the environment. This involves technologies that can capture the carbon dioxide out of the smoke stack and bury it underground. Closing Thoughts Preserving the environment for the generations after us is not an easy feat. We need to undo (or at least refine) several elements of our society that we’ve grown so used to. For example, we need to think about making cars and air conditioners more energy-efficient and eco-friendly. We need to look at the way we’ve built our cities. We need to make difficult, sometimes expensive lifestyle choices.  And that’s just on an individual level. We also need to think of raising awareness within our community. Lobbying for laws and policies for the environment. Holding our government and corporations accountable for their own impact on the climate. This sounds like a massive undertaking. But remember: all you need to get going is to take one small step. And then another. And then you keep going until it all builds up. TARTLE's Big New Predictions on Money, Technology, and Society

What’s Your Money Worth? Today, we’re facing a money paradox. The cost of goods and services increase while your salary stays the same. On top of that, the quality of the goods and services that you can afford is decreasing. How many times have you taken a trip to the local supermarket and found yourself contemplating the cost of moldy fruits?  When you look at global logistics and supply chains, it’s tough to think of how delays in one area can affect an entire ecosystem. But it’s the reality we live in today. The Suez Canal blockage of 2021 halted supply chains for a week, but the effects of that delay are expected to last for months. Crop production and shipments affected by the Omicron outbreak and climate chaos have limited the availability of French fries around the world, particularly in Southeast Asian fast food chains. So what do we have to do? It’s time for the government to step in. Time to take out more debt to pay for these delays. But this is only a band-aid solution to a bullet wound. It’s one thing to have a shortage of good products in your local supermarkets and restaurants. But if your pay and purchasing power is not increasing alongside the price of goods and services as well, something is wrong.  Stepping Into the Future This episode is scheduled for release on May 26, 2022. Here are Alexander and Jason’s fearless forecasts for the year ahead. The global supply chain will continue to experience delays for the rest of the year.  Prices will remain high. Inflation rates will rise to 10 or 15 percent. Asset prices increase. The world starts transitioning to micro manufacturing. The last forecast is particularly noteworthy because it’s the start of a new system. People will stop relying on a fragile way of doing things and start creating smaller, more robust networks. One challenge to having an incredibly interconnected network was that people started relying heavily on others to conduct business. While this meant that products could be manufactured faster and cheaper, it compromised their quality.  And beyond the products themselves, it also affected our capability for self-sustenance. The resurgence of craftsmanship isn’t coincidence. The idea is that today’s generation wants to feel a sense of community and identity. They want to know that when they purchase products, they were created locally and their decision to purchase is supporting local communities as well. It’s the same with TARTLE. You own 100 percent of your work and you are completely responsible for the creation and sharing of that information. If you want to be a part of the next wave of craftsmanship, community, and technology - you can sign up for TARTLE here.

Here's the Secret Behind Why TARTLE Grew Super Popular, Super Fast

Let’s use history and the evolution of technology to talk about adoption rates. In the past, technological development was heavily associated with warfare. Private enterprise was the driving force behind the transformation of longbows and broadswords to trebuchets and siege engines. Notice how this meant that development was placed in the hands of the wealthy and the influential. Today, we ask ourselves: what happens when the tech advantage is given to individuals? What if the ordinary people are empowered, through technology, to rise above being pawns of the one percent? How Do We Avoid the Future of Warfare? One of the biggest concerns we face as a collective is the transition of warfare. In the future, the internet will be the platform upon which entities and governments wage war. This will continue to loom over us if the state continues to define for people what their data is and how it should be used. And this is a recurring problem in many aspects of our lives. Decision making is centralized. Most of the time, we’re waiting for somebody else to tell us what to do as part of an overarching system. “That's what's been happening. People have given up their freedom to external hopes and beliefs. And then they turn around, and then the outcome that they're promised, never happens. No matter who you are, whether you're Conservative, or Liberal, or Democrat, Republican, or Socialist Party, or Marxist Party, it doesn't matter,” Jason explained. Unless we decide to come together and use the internet for fostering human understanding, we won’t be able to change our path. Closing Thoughts Today, businesses are fundamentally supported by data. And in the future, it will only be supported by data. Unless you have the data to pre-empt your business decisions and stay ahead of the curve, you may not be able to keep up with these changes.  This doesn’t hold true for businesses alone. Our digital identities as individuals will soon become a pivotal part of our freedom and autonomy. RELATED: Diving Into the Deep End With Financier and Author, Leo Tilman TARTLE is free to use. How YOU Fit in the Future of Data Networks and Technology

This episode is a deep dive into the power of growing networks. Alexander and Jason begin by discussing Metcalfe’s Law, which refers to how the value of a network grows as each user joins. Over time, the users and their data become a powerful asset. Metcalfe’s Law and Web 4.0 We had serious problems with definitions and data collection in Web 3.0. This made it difficult for us to understand the full extent of our technologies. We did not have the best opportunities to interact with data. In TARTLE, the network is composed of millions of people that come on the system and function as an individual node. Each person willingly provides their data, which is essentially a definition of their worldview. After this, it is processed by AI.  There’s a reciprocity and sense of balance that did not exist in the traditional system. We’re no longer talking about just sharing information from one computer to another. This is a chance for human beings to be the nodes themselves. It’s an important development for two reasons. First, the network becomes more robust as each person joins TARTLE. This means that the value, definition, and sovereignty you have over your information becomes stronger. Second, the protection of your digital rights increases as well. Closing Thoughts Before TARTLE, we basically went on the internet and allowed big tech to put us in digital indentured servitude. The reality is that every time you go online, other people are using everything about you—your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, location—and for their own profit. Now, TARTLE gives people an opportunity to build a strong network of direct communication, data privacy, and personal autonomy. This isn’t just another way to make money. When you sign up on the platform, you are supporting yourself and upholding others as well. Take our first step and sign up here.

More Work, Less Money: How Life Changed After the American Dream

In this episode, we continue covering history’s biggest lessons.  We now find ourselves in 1975, when the United States experienced its biggest population boom ever. This boom led to an increase in people looking for jobs—and a massive deficit in the government’s capacity to provide. From 1975 until now, the people on the ground faced two problems: first, wages stopped increasing; and second, the value of money was decreasing. This means that we are working twice as hard to earn only half as much. The advent of the internet connected people like never before. But at the same time, they’re getting left behind. The American Dream is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve, and people are still exposed to the same imagery of a Great America.  The Rise of Debt How do you influence the favor of the masses? Thatcher’s answer was to give free housing to low-income individuals in the United Kingdom. After that, she decides to introduce mortgages. This effectively turns people into debtors. What started as something good turned into a new form of slavery. “You're paying with money that is continually worth less where you have to work more to buy yourself out of something you never even own,” Alexander explained. In the United States, Reagan decides to deregulate credit. This gave way for Wall Street to begin financing extensively. In turn, everything starts to become more expensive. Everything is just artificial building stimulated by artificial growth. At the end of the day, your wages aren’t going up. As an ordinary person, you’re still in the rat race all day long. It’s a vicious cycle of having to borrow more money to finance a standard of living that you are expected to maintain. All this is happening against the backdrop of world events like the rise of the Berlin Wall, the fall of communism, the Silicon boom, offshore manufacturing, and the rise of nations. Closing Thoughts Politics is downstream of economics. Throughout history, the system has been twisted to favor the welfare of the one percent. When we look toward the future, we have to start being proactive. This entails creating the tools and platforms that the people on the ground need to claim personal responsibility and free themselves from a vicious cycle of earning less, incurring debt, and working more. TARTLE's Big Role in Stopping Us From Repeating History's Failures

If we don’t have the courage to find new ways of doing things, we’ll find ourselves caught in a destructive cycle. Let’s go over some of the biggest events in history that shaped the world we live in today. Germany’s Rise to Power in the 1900s In the country next door, factories and improved industrial capabilities were improving Germany’s economic standing. But beyond their borders, other European countries were feeling the pressure. Politicians arbitrarily drew geographical borders with little regard for the cultural nuances of each area.  This led to the rise of the Black Hand, an underground movement that fueled resentment against the ruling monarchs. World War One The resentment culminated in the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. From there, it was a free-for-all: political allegiances were quickly formed and World War One began. The First World War was a battle of technologies. Early tanks and artillery, mustard gas, and trench warfare made sure that destruction could be both targeted and widespread. Forget riding into war with horses and javelins. The fate of your enemies could now be decided with the push of a few buttons. The Treaty of Versailles In the aftermath of the First World War, we lost twenty million people. And the world leaders of that time decided to find a way to make Germany pay. The burden of war reparations crippled the German economy and agitated the people on the ground. In today’s terminology, the world was trying to make Germany pay a half trillion dollars. No country is capable of paying that amount—especially back then. World War Two With Germany collapsing under the debt, Adolf Hitler seized the opportunity to sow and ferment radical sentiments. He used the same tactics that the Black Hand used to undermine authority.  This time, 50 million people die. The New Deal and Economic Stimulus After the Second World War, the New Deal ushered in the golden era of America. Technology stopped focusing on warfare and started working on consumer goods. Marketing became a crucial aspect in shaping human behavior. And in addition, 78 million people were born in the US. That’s not just a fiscal stimulus. This era also witnessed a manufacturing stimulus and human life stimulus. - We’re quickly approaching modern times. The rise of world organizations such as NATO and the EU have encouraged greater collaboration and trading between countries. So far, everything is at peace, and the one percent believe that this will continue to hold together. But will it?

Are We Really In Control Of Tech Development and Innovation? With Bernd Stahl

Here are some issues worth mulling over when it comes to the development of AI: data protection. Biased decision-making. Bias in employment. The social impact on the environment. The future of warfare.  What are your thoughts regarding the impact of tech innovation on humanity? Don’t you think you deserve to have a say when it comes to how technology is being developed? In this episode, Alexander McCaig welcomes Bernd Stahl back on the TCAST. The pair navigate some important questions regarding the ethics of artificial intelligence, and the impact of its progress. The Trickle-Down Effects of AI One issue Alexander raised was regarding the top-down hierarchical approach that’s commonly been used in many different kinds of organizations, throughout the history of humanity. This approach usually backfires because all the power to decide is concentrated in the hands of an elite few. As a result, the people who form the base of the top-down approach are dependent on them. However, AI can be developed in a way that would enable resource-holders to directly analyze the general public, using ethically-sourced data to power their algorithms. Through direct interaction with the communities that they want to research and develop, the benefits of future technology can better tickle down to those who need it the most.  But this system also poses risks, especially when the people who are being studied do not have a say in the amount of data that is taken from them. With this, Alexander raises the idea of allowing people to choose which data can enter these systems and be analyzed.  Discussing the Deadlock in AI and Ethics To this, Bernd discusses the magnitude of this initiative. While the European Union is trying to achieve this through its General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Bernd points out that it can be difficult for the individual data subject to communicate their desires to the data collectors. In addition, data regulation needs to account for changes in consumer’s preferences over time because as humans, we aren’t very consistent in what we want.  Due to the complexity of this relationship, history has developed in a way that allowed companies to accumulate the resources and the power to benefit the most from AI. There is a strong recognition that this imbalance is problematic. It’s inequitable, it does not help humanity evolve or enforce equality, and it does not give the disenfranchised the best chances to succeed in life through technology. So Alexander raised the question: what if we could work towards a collective decision on how we define the ethics and outcome of AI systems? If we agree on our vision of the future and focus our efforts on that as a collective, we could better inform the AI algorithms and help direct them to a clearer path. One that is in favor of humanity.  However, Bernd pointed out that vast differences in preferences and moral stances can make it difficult for us to agree on one clear direction.  Closing Thoughts AI is capable of helping us. This is undisputed. One area that Bernd believes AI can be most utilized is in medicine. For example, personalized medicine can look into the genome sequencing and medical history of an individual, and run it against other samples. This would potentially empower scientists, providing the information they need to tailor a specific combination of pharmaceuticals so that individuals can get bespoke treatment. But are we maximizing the potential of our technologies, or allowing those seated in power to take a hefty cut of the benefits for their vested interests? Bernd likened the creation of AI to the discovery of fire. If we could ask the first person to figure out what fire was to predict how vital it would be to the evolution of humanity, they would have no idea how to respond.  We can only work on what we know. This is why Bernd Stahl recommends looking at AI with continuous reflection and assessment. We need to be capable of seeing how AI is developing and providing our feedback.  And that’s why your data is worth billions. How to See Beyond the Shared Fiction in Modern Economies

How long have you been waiting for your life to begin? How much control have you given other entities over your future? We’ve created an economic system that judges the worth of entire societies based on their money. And for the longest time, we’ve confirmed that value. We continually accept this judgment and place our faith in it.  But really, we’re all living in a shared fiction. The one percent we’re trusting to create a better world for humanity, composed of central bankers and larger regulators, is crippled with red tape, bureaucracy, and even corruption.  Preparing for the Fourth Industrial Revolution The fourth industrial revolution is a pivot towards intensive, data-driven measures. We’ll be moving from the physical world to the digital. The internet of things, the metaverse, Web 3.0—all these initiatives involve more data. It’s important that we have the tools we need to position ourselves strategically as this change occurs. So let’s talk about how TARTLE helps individuals secure their economic privacy and economic liberty. On TARTLE, you are capable of choosing between sharing your information and keeping it to yourself. Conversely, you can also fine-tune your data packets so that you only get the information you need for your business. No bloatware involved. Both paths create value for you—even when you decide that you want to limit the data you’ll be giving, you create an environment of scarcity.  With economic liberty, TARTLE acknowledges that your data is your right. By extension, your decision to use it creates economic gain for yourself. You have the choice over how much financial gain and economic empowerment is possible, regardless of whether you are a buyer or a seller on the platform. TARTLE safeguards your economic privacy and economic liberty by providing a place where you are in complete control of your information. You can trust that every transaction you make is fair on both ends. Closing Thoughts Our current system calls for us to believe that other entities have your best interests at heart, so there’s no need for you to take any action. But there’s no proof that they do. And you’re giving up so much of your freedoms in exchange for their participation. This must be a significant factor in why people love cryptocurrencies. Despite the steep learning curve and risk, you are the sole owner of your wallet and key. No-one else can take control of it, and nobody needs to ask for the bank’s permission to do anything. We deserve a system that shows us an immediate outcome for our hard work. This is where TARTLE comes in.  We built this platform so humanity could determine the value of society by their work, and give individuals an opportunity to learn how to monetize their own information. Let’s take back our information. On TARTLE, we are in control. Let’s learn to say this: What I do is my business. What Big Tech is Doing With Your Data and Why You Should Be Afraid

Big tech is making some big moves on your personal information. Now, they’re making it look good by dressing it up with some fun statistics. For example, Spotify Unwrapped gives you a list of all the music you’ve listened to the most in the past year. Google Maps has a similar function. It compiles a neat list of all the countries, cities, and places you’ve visited. It’s time to call this out for what it is: they’re showing you all the personal information they’ve gathered from you, and are keeping it in their systems.  The Crown Jewel of Data: Location Your location data is critical information. We’ve seen journalists, politicians, and gamers doxed for one thing or the other on the internet. In this episode, Alexander and Jason discuss how a Catholic priest was outed by a Christian publication. This happened because they tracked his location using Grindr, and found that he was visiting gay bars and private residence from 2018 to 2020. They concluded that it was his phone based on the location data as well. “A mobile device correlated to Burrill emitted app data signals from the location-based hookup app Grindr on a near-daily basis during parts of 2018, 2019, and 2020 — at both his USCCB office and his USCCB-owned residence, as well as during USCCB meetings and events in other cities.” - The Pillar That’s highly specialized location data. Three years of the priest’s whereabouts, being logged and stored by the app. And a data vendor was all it took to ruin his entire life. Getting Something for Free? Then You’re the Product Should he have been a priest if he was a closeted homosexual? That’s not what we’re trying to answer here. The core of this issue is that someone tracked this individual’s private choices and exposed them without their consent, without them even being aware that they were tracked in the first place. Those fun end-of-the-year summaries on your app activity aren’t for free. They are blatantly telling you that you are the product, and you can have your data weaponized against you without your knowledge. That’s the kind of chaotic world we can expect with the inevitable weaponization of data. Protect Your Data. Join TARTLE. This is a wake-up call for you to start being more vigilant about who and where you share your data. You need to own the information you create on your gadgets. Those are your personal assets and you worked hard to create them. With TARTLE, you can take that information into your hands and choose to share it on your time, at your pace. Why Buyers Should Commit to Ethically Sourced Data Through TARTLE Now

As a buyer, your first priority is making sure that you’re doing what’s best for your business. So what’s stopping you from jumping into TARTLE’s data packets? If you’re still having doubts about investing in our platform, let’s talk about the benefits you get from ethical data sourcing. Create Direct Relationships With Your Customers In the traditional data sourcing setup, a lot of the information that you buy is incredibly biased. This is because you’re buying them off of third parties that observe human beings, and not the human beings you’re serving themselves. Every middleman you entertain in your data sourcing gives room for misinterpretation and corruption of their information. So remove the guesswork. Half of the headache in growing a business is figuring out what makes your customers tick—that’s why we all shell out so much towards marketing campaigns. But with TARTLE, you can invest in facts. Making the move toward ethical data sourcing means that you don’t have to make assumptions about your customers, because you can reach out to them whenever you need to. What Your Commitment to Ethically Sourced Data Symbolizes TARTLE is where the world goes to buy and sell data. And if you're not ethically sourcing your information through TARTLE, you're not getting your information properly and you're not getting the best information possible. - Alexander McCaig When you come to TARTLE, you are taking on a commitment. You want to ensure that your values, actions, and business align with one another. This is an active decision to care about the future of your company, the planet, and the people who support your products and services.  It can be overwhelming to think of ways that you could make change happen. After all, movements take decades to build up the momentum they need to succeed. So if you can’t find the time to commit to so many other things just yet, commit to this one step.  Commitment to TARTLE symbolizes a commitment to human beings who want to establish consensual relationships and share truthful narratives of their lives. Why Should Buyers Trust TARTLE with Data?

Trust can be difficult to establish—trust from society, in a brand, with corporations, or with anybody that chooses to participate in TARTLE. If you’ve ever run a business before, you know that finding and nurturing repeat customers is no easy feat. Navigating Web 3.0 In this episode, Jason Rigby briefly discusses the world’s pivot towards Web 3.0. We’re moving into an era where transparency on the internet is key. This is a world where we give the end user opportunities to empower themselves, and make the decision to sell their data.  We are creating a world where individuals can take back control of their personal information and create relationships with data buyers from around the world. For sellers, this is a chance to connect with other people, businesses, and organizations that can help them uplift their life. Encouraging Corporate Transparency How far can our personal information travel without our knowledge? Whenever you are purchasing data, there is a high likelihood that the source is incentivized purely off of profit.  All the data you are using to create and improve your products and services is made possible because of the support of your target audience. These are human beings who find value in what you do and create. It doesn’t make sense to get your data from people outside of those that support what you do.  Building Trust in Technology As a buyer, you need to be mindful of where you source all your raw materials—even your information. Other firms may be selling you their data just so they can profit from the covert surveillance and manipulation of the very people you are trying to serve. If you want to create goodwill and trust, you need to nurture a direct relationship with your customers. You don’t want to leave them in the dark, wondering how you know all about their consumer behavior. Ethical data sourcing has become a crucial part of corporate social responsibility, and it’s time to make that a priority in every organization. Sign up for TARTLE through this link here.

How You Can Benefit from Universal Basic Income

This episode explores the concept of universal basic income. What if we were given a standard amount to afford our basic needs? How would it affect us, especially individuals in dire situations? And how can we make it a possibility? Restoring Human Dignity Plenty of people across the world struggle to secure their day to day needs, even in developed countries. Poor living conditions, unstable and unsteady income, and an uncertain future—all these factors combine to create a state of fear that makes it impossible for individuals to evolve. Universal basic income is an opportunity to give people a basic energetic need. It allows people to uplift themselves. It respects their inherent human dignity and liberates them from the struggle of fulfilling basic needs, which is something no human should ever have to shoulder on their own. Financial Security as a Right, Not a Privilege We may not realize it, but so much of our success depends on the luck of the draw. Isn’t it unfair to think of how the birth lottery determines a significant part of our personalities, environment, and future? With universal basic income, we give everyone access to one of the simplest, yet most important determinants for success: money. The emotional and mental stability you get from knowing that you can afford three meals a day and a roof over your head is often understated. It is only when our basic needs are fulfilled that we can hope to evolve. TARTLE’s Advocacy for Universal Basic Income “We are at the beginning stages of the greatest use case from mankind on universal basic income.” - Alexander McCaig All TARTLE participants receive daily cash rewards from the platform. And as more people sign up, we may see these daily payouts increase as well. This is possible because as more data enters the platform, and more information becomes protected, the value of this information increases. Each individual that signs up for TARTLE increases the overall marketplace value of the data that they submit.  So you don’t just get the opportunity to finally take control of your data. The First Step to Helping Science and Human Progress with Dr. Avi Loeb

We are used to thinking that the universe revolves around us. That nothing superior to humanity could ever exist. But realistically, our time is only a small fraction in the billions and trillions of years that the universe has been in existence.   In this episode, Dr Avi Loeb returns to the podcast for a deeper dive into what the universe has to offer—and how human ego is preventing our capacity for human progress. You Are Not That Special Once upon a time, the biblical story of Abraham and Lot was written. The lives of these two coincided with the arrival of a meteor that obliterated the entire region.    Religious narrative explains that this was a manifestation of God’s wrath. The city of Sodom was destroyed because of the sinfulness of its inhabitants. But the alternative is that it could have just been about a meteor that happened to hit that city.   Dr Avi Loeb’s point is that the narrative does not necessarily put humans at the center of a big event. This rock was heading for a collision course with Earth long before Sodom was constructed and inhabited by people who sinned.   For people to deserve punishment, we must assume that free will is a possibility. But how does this align with the reality that the meteor was already on its way to Earth millions of years before these people were even conceived?    These are interesting contradictions to think about. They are borne out of humanity’s desire to assign meaning and purpose to these events, with us at the center of everything. A Small Blip on an Infinite Timeline Consider this: our recorded history only covers the past 10,000 years.   The amount of time it took for humans to create, develop, and launch rockets to the nearest star spans 50,000 years.   And stars were formed billions of years before the sun.   What does this tell you? It means that humanity is grappling with vast distances and incredibly long time scales. If there are other alien civilizations out there, it’s presumptuous to assume that they are the same as us.   What’s likelier is that they may not be synchronized with our progress, not just temporally but in terms of tech advancement as well. It wouldn’t be wise to assume that our existence has a massive impact on the entire timeline of the universe. Is Superiority the Root of All Evil? Human history has shown that groups of people are consistently trying to become superior over others. You only need to look at the results of the Second World War and the Nazi regime to see how destructive it can be to feel superior.    So what would help unite us and prioritize our equality?   Dr. Avi Loeb believes we need to accept that we are not the smartest kid on the block. If there are alien civilizations, it’s more than possible that they have progressed faster and further than we have.    All our genetic differences are insignificant and meaningless. The Nazi doctrine, and other radical ideologies that seek to discriminate, will lose meaning.   “We will perhaps have more respect towards each other and regard all of us as equal members of the human species because there is a smarter kid on the block. How can you brag if there is someone much better than you are?” Dr. Avi Loeb points out. Closing Thoughts What good is our technology if we only use it to advance a particular niche that does not help the totality of human understanding? Take a closer look at what’s being developed and you’ll notice that the benefits of these innovations are not always aligned with humanity. We need to stop advancing technology just for the sake of making bigger and better-looking technologies.   To guarantee our preservation, we need to humble ourselves and bring our focus back to humanity. We won’t progress if we don’t unite. We won’t know more if we’re too afraid to disprove the theories we hold so close and dear to ourselves. And we won’t know how to empower ourselves if we think that we already have the answers, by some misplaced idea that we are at the center of the universe.   Sign up on TARTLE: https://tartle.co

Money, Society, and Choice: What’s Trust Got to Do With It?

Do you think you have a healthy relationship with money?  It’s true that money can’t buy happiness. However, it does give us the security and stability we need as humans to better pursue it. So let’s take a look at the process of distributing money, our relationship with the government, and how we can improve it. Money as a Social Construct Why is money valuable? It’s only because we decide it is. In the past, we’ve turned to other stores of value to determine what we should use as a currency. We’ve used glass beads, salt, and even speckled granite.   So, who has the power to control our money—and by extension, an important aspect of our society? By virtue of our inaction, that responsibility falls in the hands of central bankers. The problem is that this has become the reflection of a society’s worth. Regardless of where you are from, someone else is in charge of controlling the flow of money.    But with TARTLE, we have the power to invert that model. You decide how much your information is worth, and no one else. How Does Liquidity Affect Us? It’s like a dam: when somebody controls the flow of a certain asset, then it affects its liquidity and volatility. Someone is manufacturing demand and supply for it. This makes people feel like they constantly have to be on guard, in case there are market changes that affect their standing.   With TARTLE, the liquidity of data is instantaneous.    With TARTLE, you don’t have to worry about running out of information. Regardless of whether you are a buyer or a seller, information is being created every single day. It’s not valuable because you have to bulk up ahead of a shortage in supply. It’s valuable because inherently, information is power. There is no reason to act in fear or to try to pre-empt anything because everybody has all the information and opportunity they need to participate. And there is no limitation to the amount of information you can have—especially on TARTLE. What Does Trust Have to Do With It? The younger generation does not trust the government. Alexander McCaig clarifies that he isn’t trying to create a problem with this statement. There’s no need to open a new government or anything drastic. The reality is just that people want choice—and when their work has been devalued, they will merely find the path of least resistance. Better options to fund a good quality of life.   When the government is asking its citizens to place its trust in the dollar, it’s asking them to have faith in the market even if they do not have all of the facts. To let them control it for you.    But trust implies that both sides are open with their decision-making, and transparent about everything.  Closing Thoughts Everybody deserves a platform where their personal autonomy, capacity for choice, and need for consent are respected. A marketplace built on transparent reciprocity, where everyone is rewarded for their hard work.   What’s your data worth? https://www.tartle.co

Does Tested Neuroscience Have Anything Useful to Say On Performance? With Steven Kotler

When was the last time you had the freedom to pursue things you were curious about? These activities are key to unlocking our peak performances. Find out more in this illuminating episode with our special guest, Steven Kotler.   What motivates you?   It’s a simple question that can be answered in a variety of ways. You can look at extrinsic motivators, which are things in the world that you work hard to get. Examples of this include money, sex, fame, a new house, and car.   And then you can also have intrinsic motivators. This includes goal-setting, grip, passion, curiosity, purpose, autonomy, and mastery.    When we discuss cultivating motivation, we’re discussing how we can align and tune-up that entire stack of skills. Steven Kotler concedes that this isn’t an easy feat—but when you finally get the hang of it, the benefits are extraordinary.   You may think that this isn’t something you’re capable of doing. Maybe you feel different from the “greats” of this world. But in this episode, Steven Kotler and Alexander McCaig disprove that mindset. The reality is you are just as capable of peak performance as any other athlete.   It’s the first basic point of Steven Kotler’s book: all human beings are foundationally hardwired for peak performance. Our biggest challenge is learning how to work with our natural biology so that we seamlessly enter a flow sequence that empowers us to become our best selves. What Happens if I Just Push Through? What’s our instinctive response to getting something done? We try using raw grit to push ourselves through the task. And grit is trainable, but you have to work at it by pushing yourself slightly harder than you want to every single day. Grit without flow is a recipe for burnout.   The way our system is wired, we need to get some flow from an activity before we’re comfortable enough with learning how to get gritty.   Extrinsic motivators can only do so much in propelling us forward. Once we get what we want, we need to start asking ourselves: what else can we look forward to?    This is where intrinsic motivators come in. And Steven Kotler believes that it’s best to start with curiosity. Look for different curiosities that introduce more passion into your life. Learn things that catch your eye: read some books, watch a movie, listen to a lecture, take a quick class…there are so many ways to feed your curiosity.   Once you start cultivating them, you can really start looking for where they overlap and intersect. And then you can start building something that’s uniquely your own from these intersections—something that fuels your passion because it gives you all the dopamine you need to focus.   It’s important to think of achieving peak performance as a marathon, not a sprint. This won’t happen overnight.  It’s all about getting a little today and a little tomorrow, until everything compounds into the peak mindset we’re looking for. The Role of Autonomy in Motivation What does our personal autonomy have to do with cultivating motivation? This was a salient part of the discussion, as TARTLE is an advocate for human rights.   If you have to do something that is not of your own choosing, Steven Kotler believes that the best way forward is to find something in the task that affords an opportunity for mastery.   At this point, Alexander McCaig shares his personal experience with rowing. Sure, it helped him get through college and he was pretty good at it. But he did not have any motivation for the sport.    “My life became a function of how low can you get a specific number over a set distance. That was the mastery, right? How do I get there? How do I get there the most efficiently?” Alexander McCaig shared, “Everything else, it paid for me to go to university at the time and all that other good stuff. But it wasn't truly something I had any passion towards. I wasn't actually intrinsically motivated to do this thing.”   When Alexander McCaig chose to leave rowing, he regained his sense of autonomy. And he shares that the benefits were twofold: first, there was a massive difference in his internal happiness. Second, he freed up more energy to focus on the things he really wanted to do. Steven Kotler’s Encounter With the Flow State Steven Kotler shared his experience in being diagnosed with Lyme disease, a chronic autoimmune condition that can be fatal when it reaches the brain. He was incredibly sick, and described it as having “the worst flu you’ve ever had crossed with paranoid schizophrenia.”   Neurologically, Steven Kotler struggled. He lost both short-term and long-term memory, suffered from hallucinations, couldn’t see straight, and experienced pain everywhere. This was his life for three years.   In the middle of this dark period, one of his friends demanded that he try surfing. Initially Steven Kotler laughed at this suggestion—after all, he couldn’t even walk across a room. But she insisted, and eventually he gave in. They took a trip to the beach, carried him to the shore, and handed him a board the size of the Cadillac.   And then they walked him to the lineup and he sat on his board.   “I took all the energy I had left in the world, I think and decided I was going to try to catch that wave. And it was maybe, as I said, like a foot and a half on,” Steven Kotler explained, “But I paddled and puffed my feet and popped up into a dimension that I didn't even know existed.”   Later in the episode, he described his feeling while surfing as a “very powerful altered state experience.” And he found out that this altered consciousness is referred to as a flow state.    This flow state is incredibly similar to the state of mind that athletes used to become superhuman. So What Really is the Flow State All About? How did Steven Kotler interpret his experience of the flow state, in the context of his Lyme disease? To this, he refers to a book called The Breakout Principle by Herb Benson.    First, an autoimmune condition is caused by a nervous system going haywire. According to Herb Benson, moving into a flow state jumpstart a release of nitric oxide. This pushes stress hormones out of our system and lets in a variety of feel-good neurochemicals, such as dopamine and serotonin.   When Steven Kotler entered the flow state, he effectively reset his nervous system to zero. In addition, these neurochemicals are huge immune system boosters.   We most commonly see the flow state with athletes. But it can also take on a mystical form as well. Abraham Maslow, in his study of high achievers, found that their one commonality was a capacity to alter consciousness and place themselves into flow states.    Suddenly, a common thread is established between high achievers, athletes, and Steven Kotler’s experience on the waves. Everything boils down to shifting into the flow state. Closing Thoughts Our quality of life can be improved significantly if we understand how our biology works, and what we can do to build towards our flow state. Steven Kotler’s life experiences and insights highlight the urgency for systems and foundations that give us autonomy, the freedom to pursue our curiosities and our passions.   As it turns out, there is nothing that separates us from high achievers, athletes, and mystics. We’ve got everything we need to be built into our human biology. What we need to work on is our capacity to induce our peak performance.   Let’s build a world where we can make that happen for everyone.   What’s your flow state worth?

Why Do We Need to Control the Value of Money? Let's Find Out

How do you feel about deFi and the latest innovations? Do you jump in headfirst or bide your time? Alexander McCaig and Jason Rigby discuss how markets work, the appeal of new technologies, and the importance of regulation.   We’ve always been told that knowledge is power. And it’s true. Information is what drives markets. Do you want to corner a specific market? You need information. Do you want to understand it? You still need information.    For far too long, the people who have had access to this information are the ones on Wall Street, or the ones who can afford ultra-fast internet and tech equipment. But with TARTLE, that’s about to change.   In this episode, Alexander McCaig and Jason Rigby discuss data-grabbing, the battle over money, and how we are at the center of everything. The Importance of Regulating Emergent Technologies Regulation is not bad. In some instances, establishing oversight on markets has been what makes it more accessible for the people on the ground. This is because it protects market participants from malicious actors, especially those who are not familiar with the commodity or currency yet.   Emerging technologies are appealing because they are innovative, and it’s always exciting to think that we may be early adopters of the next big thing. But we have seen just how catastrophic an unregulated commodity or currency can become. It’s not just a matter of losing jobs and money. When the stakes are high, people lose their lives as well. We only need to look at the Wall Street Crash of 1929 to see this.   So when we look at bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, it’s not enough to find out how we can use these technologies. We need to ask ourselves what the right regulatory response is as well. The Role of Choice in New Technologies With the introduction of decentralized technologies, particularly in finance, the world has realized one thing: people want choice. Consent in the outcome of new markets.   This highlights the problem we face with fiat currency. Government-issued currency isn’t inherently bad. But printing lots of money is. And an elite, exclusive group of bankers controlling that entire system makes it worse.   Why don’t we get to decide how far we go in our participation, and how much we can get out of it? Why does it feel like someone else is taking advantage of our hard work?   These are questions that anyone is bound to have mulled over in their lifetime. For too long, we’ve had to adjust to the whims of another person or entity. This centralized model does not listen to us, or cater to our needs. It’s time we find a new system to work with. Why TARTLE Wins On TARTLE, everybody can be a market participant and a part of the investment. The market is capable of naturally equalizing; everybody can be a part of the investment. Everybody has the same access and the same information on the platform. And of course, everybody is fairly compensated for their hard work.   It’s almost like the relationship between mining and the price of gold. It’s the effort put into extracting the ore and refining it that makes it so expensive. Bitcoin mining operates in a similar fashion. But with TARTLE, you don’t need to have lots of complex equipment or cash to become a data champion.    Nobody takes a cut from your efforts.    It’s time for you to find out: what’s your data worth?   Sign up at TARTLE: https://tartle.co

It's Time: Stop Big Tech from Abusing You Today!

Summary There’s more to your data than meets the eye. Let’s find out how much information has been kept from you. In this episode, Alexander McCaig and Jason Rigby discuss how YOU are a modern-day cash cow for the bigwigs in Big Tech. In the previous episode, we discussed how using TARTLE can help save your life. Now, let’s talk about how we can improve your quality of life. One of the most pressing problems we have today is that people don’t know the value of their data. We find ourselves giving away a treasure trove of information in exchange for meager services, like access to our ancestry or participation in a social network.   Big tech and other companies make so much money out of our data. It’s time we take back what’s rightfully ours. You Are A Modern-Day Slave We are allowing big tech to create a captain’s log of every human being there is. We are giving them the power to look over our shoulders while we write down our most secret desires, while we report the outcomes of our day to day activities.   It’s a violation of our right to privacy and it happens on a daily basis. We need to wake up now, before it gets even worse.   At the rate we’re going, we are allowing other companies to take data out of our human body. And then they conceal their intentions behind 200 pages of legal mumbo jumbo, and then they go ahead and make $600 billion off of our human work.   We’ve got a term for it here: data slavery. Living in the Wild West of Data Era What’s extra insidious about this is that it’s happening right under our noses, as we speak. We wouldn’t let other companies like Walmart get away with slave labor, so why do we let it happen with our personal information?   These companies may not be stealing to your face, but that doesn’t make it okay. You deserve to know that you are being farmed for your data and that other people are making money off of you.   You are a unique human being. Throughout your existence, you’ve created thoughts, actions, and preferences that are valuable to the evolution of humanity. You do not deserve to become a pawn in someone else’s convoluted gamble for profit and power. Conclusion TARTLE is designed to allow people to feel a sense of reciprocity. That they’re actually getting what they deserve. The platform is a more ethical and sustainable way of sharing data.    On the TARTLE Marketplace, you get to choose how much data you share. You can capture your ancestry, genomic sequencing, social determinants of health, and more. Once you’re done uploading that information, you can choose who you sell that data to. That’s how important your consent is to us. You are a part of the process every step of the way.   You also get to keep all of the money you earn from TARTLE. We do not take a cut from your hard work.   What’s your data worth? Sign up for the TARTLE at tartle.co
