It is GRAMMYS WEEK here on Talk Direction and Oh My God was it exciting! Harry Styles is the first member of One Direction to attend, perform at, and WIN at the Grammys. There was SO much to discuss: -Harry wore three different Gucci looks over the course of the night, all topped with colorful boas. Most notably, his performance look was a leather suit, no top, and green boa. -Harry opened the Grammys with a sultry version of Watermelon Sugar, arranged by singer/songwriter/producer Dev Hynes (aka Blood Orange). We are obsessed and NEED Harry to work with Hynes more going forward. -Side Note: Sarah Jones, Harry’s drummer, smashed it on the drums in a full leather suit (gloves included) while very much pregnant! -Harry’s performance pod included HAIM, Black Pumas, and Billie Eilish, all of whom watched each other perform. -Harry won Best Pop Solo Performance for Watermelon Sugar and looked completely shocked. First of many to come in our opinions! -Finally we discuss the #Haylor (Harry & Taylor) and #Hizzo (Harry & Lizzo) moments of the night. Harry Styles is confirmed to star alongside Emma Corrin in a movie based on My Policeman, a story about a married man who falls in love with another man during the 1950s. The book is told from the wife’s perspective and deals with love, marriage, and the homophobia of the time. We talk about the importance of queer people telling queer stores and dig into the directing/producing history of the team telling this story (big thanks to Stef for this one!). We also have fun looking at behind the scenes photos for Don’t Worry Darling, the movie Harry is just wrapping filming for, starring Florence Pugh and directed by Olivia Wilde. Neither of us have read the script yet so we make guesses as to what the blood stains mean on Florence's dress, why Harry’s head has fake blood, where Harry’s tattoos went and how long it took them to cover with makeup, why Harry is wearing a floral apron, and whether or not there is a time jump in the movie based on one picture where their outfits seem to look like something one may see today. We also talk about Olivia Wilde’s interview/conversation with director of Promising Young Woman, Emerald Fennell, for Variety. Wilde talks about her approach to directing and the emphasis she puts on creating a comfortable, non-hierarchical, warm environment for all crew and actors on her sets. We’re finally reunited! We’re super excited that once we’re again able to discuss important issues face to face like the state of the economy, and more importantly, Harry’s white pants. This week we discuss who Zayn’s new music partner seems to be, a startling revelation about Fireproof, and our top five OT5 moments in honor of the fifth anniversary of One Direction becoming a band. In this episode: - Liam/Sophia engagement rumors flew around twitter recently, with Liam himself adding fuel to the fire when he retweeted a tweet including #SophiamIsEngaged. Oh, Liam. - Zayn tweeted pictures from a studio, heavily alluding to the fact that he was working with singer/producer MakeYouKnowLove. - The boys helped to write a children’s book for charity about a half-girl/half-dinosaur going on a wacky adventure. (Their next project should be a live-action movie spinoff of this book. Like a Spice World type deal, but where they’re also half-dino. We’d watch it.) - Liam, Niall and Harry’s action1D’s videos were released! - GREAT things have been happening at the concerts recently! Louis ripped open Liam’s shirt (God bless), Harry squawked at the crowd for not kissing each other, and a fan favorite was added to the setlist! - Our main discussion is a special one in honor of the fifth anniversary of One Direction being formed! We discuss our top five OT5 (OTP = one true pairing/ OT5 = one true… five pairing) moments! Hello beautiful listeners! We’re super excited to bring you our fifth episode! This week we talk about Niall becoming a zombie, the big Louis story, and 1D’s first two music videos– fall color palettes, emo stares, and all. (Note: This episode was prerecorded on Friday and there have been loads of new things going on since then but don’t fret, we’ll cover them all next week!) In this episode: - Fellow boybander Nick Carter asked Niall via twitter if he’d play his brother in an upcoming zombie movie, Dead 7, created by the same people that brought the cinematic masterpiece that is Sharknado into the world. - The Sun posted an article saying that Zayn would be dropped from Syco, the record label One Direction is on. - On July 14th, People Magazine posted an article saying that Louis was going to soon be a dad. This is a huge story so we do discuss it, but we really tried to be respectful and not speculate since this is a very personal story. - We tried to make our main discussion a light and nostalgic one this week! We delved into the 1D vault and re-watched the videos for What Makes You Beautiful and Gotta Be You and talk all about them. Their baby faces, excessive boyband-y pointing, beach frolicking -- we cover it all, pals. - We introduce a segment we call One Direction movie connection where we say movie titles and challenge the other person to think of a 1D song that encapsulates the film. We may go on a few tangents about classic Disney Channel movies but hey, High School Musical was a masterpiece, there’s no denying it. - We read out the feedback we’ve gotten about our questions of the week! We’re kind of hoping this is true, so we can see more of the incredible acting skills he demonstrated in the infamous iCarly episode. - Our main discussion this week is all about Zayn’s departure from the band. We attempted to include it all – where we were when we found out, the boys’ reactions, the statements that were made, the ones we wish had been made, the twitter drama between Naughty Boy and Louis, and the two unofficial Zayn tracks that’ve leaked. Hello! We’re super excited to bring you the first episode of Talk Direction, a weekly One Direction podcast! We have big plans for this podcast, friends, BIG PLANS.
