Ep. 169 - Spider-Man 2 heads to PC & Twitter/X exodus to BlueSky
Welcome back to the Spectator Mode Podcast and you’re listening or watching episode 169! In this episode we cover the recent announcement of Spider-Man 2 heading to the PC, the Analogue 3D, the reveal of Team Bloober’s Cronos: The New Dawn, and the reveal of the Alien: Isolation’s follow-up to keep things positive. Of course, we have to bring the chaos and we also discuss the downfall of Twitter / X and seeing more people (including our very own Keith) making the trek to Bluesky, how much time consoles have left in the spotlight, and the always interesting physical vs digital conversation. And while this is an adult show, we have removed the curses, so everyone can listen to the show, wherever you want.#spiderman2 #bluesky #analogue3d #cronosthenewdawnHosts:Keith MitchellScott AdamsKarl “Mase” SmartSean GarnerTopics: 00:00 - Intro02:08 - Games we’ve played / shows we’ve watched30:02 The Twitter/X exodus to BlueSky: What does it mean, why did we do it, AI image scraping, and other things?42:00 - We’re finally getting a sequel to Alien: Isolation:49:09 - Spider-Man 2 heads to PC and what that means57:35 - Team Bloober’s Cronos: The New Dawn looks interesting1:02:14 - What’s going on with the Steam Deck 2? - What do you want to see with the eventual release?1:05:23 - Analogue announces the Analogue 3D, a modernized N641:19:09 - How much time do you think consoles have left1:35:53 - Physical vs digital: a silly and long-winded rant session1:50:31 - OutroFollow us on Twitter, BlurSky, YouTube (Remember to Subscribe, ring the bell for notifications, and leave a like or comment), and our website (www.theouterhaven.net and associated links, such as AU, UK, etc), as well as check out the spectator mode podcast at Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, Buzzsprout, Spotify, and wherever podcasts are hosted.

Ep. 89 Why Outriders isn't coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC Day One
While Xbox, Square Enix, and People Can Fly have announced that Outriders, the upcoming looter shooter will be available to play via Xbox Game Pass day one - but only for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series. This has obviously frustrated a number of PC gamers, as Xbox Game Pass for PC and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate also provide acess to a vast number of PC games. So why is this happening? Why is Outriders only heading to Xbox Game Pass for consoles and not the PC? We have a good idea why and we break it down in this episode. #outriders #peoplecanfly #xboxgamepass

Today's episode of Spectator Mode Podcast is going to be a bit different as we look at the current crisis in America. While this is a gaming-related podcast, we are citizens of this country, many of us are affected by these events and we're tired of the nonsense ad we're going to use the platforms available to us to speak on these events. Not to worry though, as we still have plenty of gaming stuff to talk about.Timestamps:Current State of American Affairs - 0:00 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmOBQHjW6Zs&t=0s) -33:00 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmOBQHjW6Zs&t=1980s)PS5 Reveal, What We Wanna See - 34:15 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmOBQHjW6Zs&t=2055s) -1:30 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmOBQHjW6Zs&t=90s) .00Thanks for listening. 57: Until You Fall Fantasy Sword Fighting VR Game is amazing - PAX East 2020 Interview
While at PAX East 2020, in the Indie Megabooth no less, I encountered a fantasy sword fighting game that takes place solely in VR. That game being Until You Fall, which features fantastic graphics, interesting gameplay and I simply couldn't pass it by. Thankfully, the fine folks who were showing off the game. Jill Sciulli and Dave Bennett Schell, were more than happy to let me try the game for myself. While doing so, I found myself being engaged with how well put together the game is. Not to mention that this is still in development and is available as an early access title. Afterward, Dave took some time to speak to me regarding Until You Fall and Schell Games' PAX East 2020 experience, the future of VR headsets and more.Check out more of our PAX East 2020 coverage ➜ https://www.theouterhaven.net/news/gaming/pax-east-2020-coverage/Read our gaming content ➜ https://www.theouterhaven.net#paxeast #vr #virtualreality #untilyofufall #videogames

35: Episode 35 - You got politics in my gaming
This week we touch on the delay of DOOM Eternal and if releasing among some of the biggest games of 2020 is going to hurt sales of the game. We got more news regarding PlayStation 5, and we're really excited. Game file sizes are getting bigger but people just don't understand why. Censorship has been brought back to the forefront of gaming as Blizzard screws up majorly regarding how they handled the Hearthstone mess. We have also forgotten a thing or two, so you'll have to listen to find out what it is.That and more on this episode of Spectator Mode Podcast.Subscribe to us on:Audioboom (https://audioboom.com/channel/spectatormode) | Overcast (https://overcast.fm/itunes1454432466/spectator-mode-podcast) | Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/show/3hMI4hk4B8tQIsbI6QD6YN) | Stitcher (https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-outerhaven-productions/spectator-mode-podcast?refid=stpr) | iTunes (https://apple.co/2GY6ddQ) | Google Play (https://play.google.com/music/listen#/ps/I634ijd7ebd4d3e2yevouqkmbmi) Follow the Spectator Mode Podcast crew on Twitter:Spectator Mode Podcast- https://twitter.com/spectator_mode (https://twitter.com/spectator_mode)Keith Mitchell – https://twitter.com/Shadowhaxor (https://twitter.com/Shadowhaxor)Karl Smart – https://twitter.com/Themasething (https://twitter.com/Themasething)Diego Perez – https://twitter.com/CircleSquareDPRob Dolen - https://twitter.com/actuallybobdole#videogames #blizzard #china #hongkong #doometernal #playstation5 #gamefilesizes #callofdutymodernwarfare #reddeadredemption2 #gamingpodcast

34: I rather be playing Anthem (Ep. 34)
This week we're taking a look at a recent news article that talks Ninja's arrival on Mixer and the impact he's had. Red Dead Redemption 2 was finally announced as a PC title and we're all excited to either play it again or for the first time. While the WGA has decided that video game stories aren't really important to them for some reason. PlayStation's renewed interest in PlayStation Now has us wondering what else is in store, while Diego gives us the rundown on the state of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. It's not very good if you're wondering. Closing it out, we discuss Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and how it's captivated us and why we can't put the game down. This and much more on this week's episode. 32: Episode 32 - Ground Wars and Goose Games
This week's episode is a little more laid back than usual considering it's only Diego and Rob on the panel this time. That doesn't mean there's any less content though! Rob talks a bit about Minecraft and how the game seems to be becoming popular again, and then both Rob and Diego share some more thoughts about the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta, specifically the new 32 vs 32 Ground War Mode. Not only that, but Diego takes some time to talk about Untitled Goose Game, Borderlands 3, and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III, which got a demo on the PlayStation Store last week.Later in the show, the two discuss the upcoming State of Play and what they'd like to see from it. Also, the August NPD report came in, and the guys take a look at what games sold well and others that didn't do too hot. Finally, a court ruling in France might mean big changes for the way we buy digital games, and Diego and Rob ponder as to what this could mean for Steam, other platforms, and the industry as a whole. All that and more in this episode of the Spectator Mode Podcast!Subscribe to us on:Audioboom (https://audioboom.com/channel/spectatormode) | Overcast (https://overcast.fm/itunes1454432466/spectator-mode-podcast) | Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/show/3hMI4hk4B8tQIsbI6QD6YN) | Stitcher (https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-outerhaven-productions/spectator-mode-podcast?refid=stpr) | iTunes (https://apple.co/2GY6ddQ) | Google Play (https://play.google.com/music/listen#/ps/I634ijd7ebd4d3e2yevouqkmbmi) | YouTube (https://bit.ly/2TvlSXK)Follow the Spectator Mode Podcast crew on Twitter:Spectator Mode Podcast- https://twitter.com/spectator_mode (https://twitter.com/spectator_mode)Keith Mitchell – https://twitter.com/Shadowhaxor (https://twitter.com/Shadowhaxor)Karl Smart – https://twitter.com/Themasething (https://twitter.com/Themasething)Diego Perez – https://twitter.com/CircleSquareDPRob Dolen - https://twitter.com/actuallybobdole#callofdutymodernwarfare #goosegame #borderlands3 #legendofheroescoldsteel3 #NPD #stateofplay #xbox #minecraft

The gang is all here and so is episode 29 of the Spectator Mode Podcast! Join Keith, Karl, Diego, and Rob as they take you all on yet another journey into the world of videogame news.First up is everyone's favorite "What have we've been playing this week", and boy does Diego have a story to tell. Something about being banned on PlayStation Network. Remedy's Control has been in our minds, in our hands and we can't wait to talk about this original IP. It's a breath of fresh air among the gaming scene. We can't forget about Capcom's announcement of Project REsistance, but is it really another Outbreak wannabe? Or is it something entirely? Yakuza 7's new turn-based combat, Gears of War 5 and Telltale Games being revived are also front and center. Lastly, we close it out with 2K Game's NBA2K20. Welcome back to yet another funfilled, yet off the wall episode of the Spectator Mode Podcast. Hope you got that popcorn ready!Just like clockwork, we start off with games we've played this past week, which is always interesting. Then we moved on to Gamescom 2019 and game announcements we were looking forward to and disappoints on games that didn't surface. That includes Death Stranding, Need for Speed Heat and the lack of a new Resident Evil game. We eventually segway into why we felt Gamescom 2019 was lacking and why companies aren't really excited to jump into new IPs. Moving on to more depressing news, we touch on the layoffs that affected the GameInformer magazine and the decline of Gamestop. We also weigh in on if Battlefield V and is its days numbered now that Call of Duty Modern Warfare (2019) is almost here. That and more in this episode of Spectator Mode Podcast. Thanks for listening. 27: Episode 27 - So many games so little time
This week there's just two of us holding down the show, but it's all good as you have two our the gamiest members. That said, we're all about not only the most recent games we've been playing but also the games we're looking forward to this Fall 2019. We also took some time to talk about the update to No Man's Sky and Remnant: From the Ashes (It's so damned good!). Changing gears, we reflect on the number of games that are releasing fairly soon that have received little to no marketing. We're fearful of them and their chances of selling. Of course, where's there's some good talk, there's also some bad stuff that follows. We're referring to the departure of Bioware's Anthem lead producer, the swatting of the recent swapping of Kyle ‘Bugha’ Giersdorf. As well as the bomb threat of Bandai Namco US and the death threats toward Square Enix. It's been bizarre as of late. You know what to do. Sit back or don't, but be sure to enjoy the week's show. Thanks for listening. 26: Episode 26 - Blame Video Games For Everything
Folks, we have a bit of a serious show this week. As you know, video games are yet again under attack thanks to the government of the US of A nothing being able to actually anything for gun control. So once again, they just blame video games because that's the answer. Keith gets a bit emotional over this mess, he's quite upset over this. But it's not all serious, as we talk about what games we've played this past week. Resident Evil is on our minds and we discuss which new entry in the series we'll see first. Moving on to Gamescom, which is right around the corner and we wanna see some new games. But what we'll see and what are we excited for? Lastly, we move on to the ESA dropping the ball again, as it's discovered that they leaked not just E3 2019 press and journalist info. Nope, they also leaked several other lists as well. We saved the serious chat surrounding Walmart removing game adverts and even games from their stores and how the USA needs to stop blaming video games for every major violent act carried out.Yep, this one is a bangerThanks for listening. 25: Episode 25 - The ESA E3 2019 Leaks and You
Hello faithful fans, we're back after a brief hiatus and boy if we don't have a bunch to talk about. First up is super popular Fortnite streamer, "Ninja", making the jump to Mixer (https://www.theouterhaven.net/2019/08/ninja-makes-the-jump-from-twitch-to-mixer/) . We still can't believe that happened. Riot Game's Tom Cannon officially has announced that the company is working on a fighting game (https://www.theouterhaven.net/2019/08/tom-cannon-confirms-riot-games-is-working-on-a-fighting-game/) . Could this be a revival of Rising Thunder or something else? Then we close it out with the horrible news that the ESA (https://www.theouterhaven.net/2019/08/the-esas-massive-info-leak-screw-up-is-damaging-beyond-belief/) , the company the organizations the largest gaming convention in North America, E3, has a problem. For some reason, EA's EVP Matt Bilbey has a hard time understanding why the gaming community perceives them as the bad guy. 22: Episode 22 - Epic Games and the future of Crowdfunded games
With Epic Games being attached to several high profile crowdfunded games (Phoenix Point, Outer Wilds, Shenmue 3), what does this mean for future crowdfunded titles? 18: Episode 18 - A Loot Box by Any Other Name - 6.21.2019
Welcome to another episode of the Spectator Podcast, the Outerhaven's weekly podcast where we talk the latest news, topics and everything else that's video games.Recently, EA has been making the rounds and trying to tell people that loot boxes aren't really a bad thing. Nah, instead they're perfectly fine and are surprise mechanics that gamers everywhere love. Well, we don't believe the hype and we're not too thrilled about EA's rather crappy tactics. Speaking of crappy tactics, we jump into what would happen if gaming would be taking over by streaming. We don't mean Twitch streaming, but all your games being played via the all-mighty cloud. We're not completely convinced we're ready for that. Oh, and Keith recaps how much money he's spent via Kickstarter and gets a bit sadder on the inside.Lastly, this show is a bit PG-13, as there are a few swears it in. We're all grown adults here, nothing you haven't heard before. That and more in Spectator Mode Episode 18.Thanks for listening. 2: Episode 2 - Who's excited for Pokemon
Pokemon Sword and Shield (https://www.theouterhaven.net/2019/02/pokemon-sword-and-shield-revealed-first-look-at-gen-8/) has been announced and it's going to be the first Pokemon game ever for two of the hosts. Why are they excited about this game? Blizzard tries to keep their card game, Hearthstone, afloat by changing up things with "The Year of the Dragon (https://www.theouterhaven.net/2019/02/hearthstone-announces-the-year-of-the-dragon/) ". Our resident Hearthstone expert breaks it all down. We discuss our Dead or Alive 6 review (https://www.theouterhaven.net/2019/03/dead-or-alive-6-review-fighter-to-the-end/) , as well as touch base on the DLC issue plaguing the launch. Speaking of DLC, we're old. So we talked about the state of DLC, microtransactions and try to make sense of it all. All of us were big World of Warcraft players that have long since retired. However, with a new challenger, Pantheon (https://www.theouterhaven.net/2018/03/pantheon-wow-killer/) , being worked on. Could this lore us back to the MMO scene? Thanks for listening.
