What happens when we don't talk about the struggles we go through? We feel shame. Luckily, Katie loves talking about all the issues she faces as a 20-something year old. We may not be able to go through the process of recovery together (that's individual), but we can feel solidarity on the bench. Let's destigmatize the human experience together. New episodes every tuesday. IG: @katie.eu

summer stagnation and resting without guilt
after a very long (and unplanned) break from the podcast, katie is back to talk about the feeling of summer stagnation (dare she say, the 'quiet period'?) and what it's like to finally rest without guilt. part ramble and part reflection, this episode is a true snapshot into a 3-year-long recovery journey.

friendships: how to make peace with losing good friends
let's talk about something we all struggle with: losing friends. as I'm navigating my 20s, I've had a lot of friends come in and out of my life and I'm learning how to cope with losing close friends.
in this episode, I talk about how I navigate losing a close friend. I get candid about my mindset and limiting beliefs, concrete actions and phrases I used to seek out support, and how I left college feeling uplifted and included despite everything. this is (kind of) a continuation on my last friendships episode, so go listen to that if you're interested in my take on the definition change of friendships, popularity, and how I found my friends.
as always, I hope you feel solidarity on the bench.

this episode is a final reflection from my time at college. I talk about the struggle of being a social floater, looking back at april 2022, seeing old figures, and so much more. perhaps one of the most vulnerable episodes to date, this is the true testament to the name 'solidarity on the bench.'

who is “that girl” and why do we all want to be her?
let's talk about the phenomenon that had a CHOKEHOLD on social media during the pandemic -- TikTok's "that girl." I researched this phenomenon for my senior thesis (and am continuing this research into the spring) because I am truly fascinated by identity subcultures.
in this episode, I talk about:
- who is "that girl," truly?
- some takeaways from my thesis research
- how to implement these takeaways into your everyday life

solidarity with sophia carter: being alone in your 20s
let's talk about something we all struggle with: the feeling of being alone. in this very special episode, I'm joined by fellow creator and friend sophia (@sophiaecarter) to hold space for a conversation about loneliness. as two girls navigating their 20s (I'm 22 and sophia is 20), we've both had our fair share of both (1) being alone because we CHOOSE TO and (2) being alone because you truly have no one to hang out with </3
in this episode, we talk about our own experiences with loneliness and friendship fallouts. this is also, accidentally, a loving continuation of my first episode on friendships.
as always, I hope you feel solidarity on the bench.

the person behind the podcast
I should have posted this first but, alas, I'm still dipping my toes in this medium. so here's a belated introduction episode if you're curious about the human behind the microphone.
in this episode, i talk about my mental health story, my life as a student, future plans, and content creation.
while this one may not have any profound *oh* moments, I thought it would be worthwhile to give a formal introduction. plus, this episode's bench is truly about the crazy ups and downs of life.
p.s. the audio is a little weird in this one but I could NOT film another 30 minutes of me talking about myself (it was more exhausting than I realised) so I'm sorry about that!! the next few episodes should have crispy audio!
as always, I hope you feel solidarity on the bench.

friendships: the definition change, "popularity," and how I found my friends
let's talk about something we all struggle with: friendships, popularity, and the struggle of feeling alone. as I navigate my 20s, I'm realising that friends and friendships tend to serve different purposes.
in this episode, I talk about how the definition of friends has undergone three major changes (which can result in 'shock' or feelings of loneliness like it did for me), some of my current friendships, and final takeaways about the subject. i wanted to talk about friendships because it feels like an unspoken thing in our society, especially in your early 20s.
as always, i hope you feel the solidarity on the bench.
