Uncommon Eternity
What happens when we die? Pastor Doug Wekenman answers the question that many churches are afraid to talk about. Heaven is real, and hell is real. The questions is not if we will live forever, it is where we will live forever. We as Christians don't often live like we have an uncommon eternity ahead of us. What would it look like if we truly understood what Heaven is going to be like and lived with an urgency of telling everyone we know about the good news of Jesus so we can enjoy eternity together?

Pastor James tackles the Bad Theology statement, "God won't put on you more than you can handle". The Bible doesn't promise us that we won't go through trials we can't handle. In fact, it is full of examples of people going through things they cannot take on alone. It does promise us that when we face trials, God goes with us. It's more than we can handle, but not more than God can handle. When we place our circumstances in His hands, our trials point to His glory.

Peace - Joy - Hope
Shawn Johnson, lead pastor of Red Rocks Church, preaches the Christmas message and reminds us of this: as much bad news as life can bring us (especially after a year like this one), Christmas is about celebrating GOOD NEWS! More than perhaps ever before, we can relate to the participants of the Christmas story on a whole new level, and Shawn walks us through their story from a new perspective. Mary and Joseph were not strangers to interrupted plans, halted work, and chaotic life-changes. And Shawn reminds us that in the middle of our own chaos, pain, or tragedy, we can experience a supernatural joy that comes only from God. Because when Jesus arrived on the scene he brought peace, hope, joy and salvation and that’s a reminder we need every year, but especially this one.

We were never promised a calling from God that does not include difficulty, and this year has made it clear that we need to persevere through some challenging things. Instead of focusing on others' criticisms, or our own negative thoughts, we need to focus on what God thinks of us and be reminded that He made us on purpose for a purpose.*Mature content: please be aware that this message includes someone’s story involving suicide and a violent mental break, so we want to let you know about the content before you push play.

King Me
Jimmy Rollins, lead pastor of i5 City Church, brings a powerful message for week 6 of Kingdom Culture! Under the Influence
In week five of Kingdom Culture, Ronnie highlights the things in life that can leave us feeling shaken. At times we find ourselves covering over the pain of our shaken lives with Christian quick-fixes, but at the heart, we are not allowing God to do the restorative work within our souls that will bring us true peace. Ronnie reminds us that the God of the Universe LOVES us, in spite of our flaws, mistakes, or the storms we’re facing, and HIS love cannot be shaken.

2020: What Do I Do, Say & Post?
In week four of Kingdom Culture, Shawn handles the timely question “what should I do, say, and post within the context of this crazy world we’re living in?” Shawn reminds us that there are two cultures right now: Earth 2020 culture - where we each have strong views on politics, racial tensions, the pandemic, and more and we’ll fight to be RIGHT on social media about these things, and Kingdom Culture - where our culture is built upon the Kingdom of Heaven and we show LOVE to others regardless of how different they may be from us politically, racially, or otherwise. Our words have power, and in 2020 the way we show LOVE through our differences may be the biggest way we point others to Jesus.

4 Things Christians Should Say More Often
Doug Wekenman brings a powerful message for week three of Kingdom Culture. In his message Doug highlights four things that Christians should say more often: 1) I don’t know, 2) I can learn something from that person, 3) It’s gonna take more than that to offend me, and 4) I was wrong.

Led by the Spirit
In week two of Kingdom Culture, Ronnie digs into what Kingdom Culture means and how we are led by the Holy Spirit. As we check our motivations and tendencies we can see our beliefs, and as we check the fruit of our lives we can see the ways that we ARE or ARE NOT walking with the Spirit. Ronnie reminds us that when our view of God gets bigger, our burdens and anxieties get smaller.

Just Passing Through
Shawn kicks off the Kingdom Culture series and reminds us that while the troubles we encounter here are real, we are citizens of Heaven and we are simply passing through Earth on our way to Heaven. This reality can give us strength and purpose through challenging times as we think “will ___ matter in 100 years?” Shawn reminds us that when we walk and talk with the Kingdom of Heaven in mind, we create Kingdom Culture, and we do this when we 1) pray for it, 2) look for it, and 3) live with it in mind.

Light and Easy
In week two of Follow Me, Ronnie preaches about Jesus’ antidote for the struggles, anxieties, and stress we each carry during challenging seasons. Ronnie brings new clarity to Matthew 11:28-29 NIV “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Ronnie reminds us that we were never meant to carry the heavy parts of our life alone, and that Jesus is gentle and humble and that He wants to help us in each and every season.

Thank God I Said "Yes"
In week one of Follow Me, Shawn Johnson reminds us that when you read the Bible you will see multiple people who 1) experienced what they did because they said YES and 2) they had the opportunity to say yes because they were LISTENING. Shawn opens up the series by asking: if a yes takes us closer to the miraculous provision of God, are you listening for your directive so that you can say yes to it? What is God calling you to (even if it doesn’t make sense)?

Grace of Gratitude
Andrew Matrone, the lead of Red Rocks Young Adults, speaks to the power of gratitude in our relationship with God. Through the story of the 10 lepers who were healed, and the one who returned to say thank you, Andrew reminds us that our gratitude impacts the restoration of our soul. When we return to God to give Him praise for what He’s done, gratitude allows us to not only combat the lies of the enemy, but to fully experience the life that God wants for us here.

What in the World is Going on Here?
In week three of Echoes of Eden, Doug Wekenman concludes the series by asking “what in the world is going on here” regarding the current world we’re living in today. Doug closes the series by driving the point home that Jesus was “the perfect son of God, who lived the perfect life, to die at the perfect moment, as a perfect sacrifice in order to perfect some very imperfect people...proving that good triumphs over evil in a story of sacrifice and unbreakable love.”

The Love of the Father
Regardless of how many times we’ve read or heard “For God so loved the world,” the truth in that verse can be difficult to fully comprehend. As we look at the person of God and His character, Ronnie reminds us that the entire story of the Bible showcases the love of God and His invitation for us to experience eternity forever with Him. With the help of his three year old daughter, Ronnie reveals some of our misconceptions about God’s love and he uses verses in the Bible to center our understanding of God on TRUTH instead. The love that God has for us is lavish and unconditional and it is transformational in our lives when we begin to accept it!

Do You See What I See
In a moment in time when so many of us feel like we don’t have enough of something (time, money, security, health), what can we learn from Jesus as he ministers to individuals and their needs? Teaching through Jesus’ miracle of the loaves and fishes, Ronnie points us to the fact that God is in control even when the odds feel stacked against us. Jesus has the ability to GIVE you what you LACK and to walk with you through seasons that feel uncertain. As you face moments when there is not enough of what you need, remember that there is another person in the equation, Jesus, and he will see you through your challenges.

Crazy Joy: Part 2
As stay-at-home orders begin to lift around the world, many of us are asking: What changes now? What stays the same? And how are we to live and work in our callings in this transition season? Continuing from last week, Shawn points us to the life of Paul in Acts, when Paul was wrongfully imprisoned and yet still ministered to everyone around him. Even in the midst of his trials and hardships, Paul remained committed to the calling that God had given him, and we can do the same. Shawn reminds us that when our calling is tied to the PEOPLE in our lives, our calling doesn’t change, even as the world around us steps into a season of transition.

Crazy Joy
As our work, schooling, and day-to-day lives have changed so drastically over the last weeks, many of us have wondered things like “what is my purpose right now?” “what is my calling in this season?” Shawn encourages us, by looking at the life of Paul, that we can choose to live on-mission even when we are not able to meet with others face-to-face. In the worst conditions imaginable, as he awaited his execution and lived under house-arrest, Paul continued to reach lost people. Shawn reminds us that instead of putting off ministry for “when things are back to normal,” we can reach out, support, encourage, pray together, and invite people to church NOW, right where we are. Even if our neighborhood or city looks different today than it did a few months ago, we are still CALLED to reach the hurting, we can still live ON-MISSION, and we’re still EQUIPPED by the Holy Spirit to minister to those around us.

The Essentials
Who are we when our routines, jobs, and day-to-day lives are turned upside down? Many of us equate what we DO from 9am to 5pm with WHO WE ARE, but during this challenging season of time, who are we? What is essential in our lives? Ronnie points us to a passage from Jesus’ ministry where He clarified that what you BELIEVE is far more important than what you DO. As so many of us encounter changes to our livelihoods and vocations, Ronnie encourages us that it’s time to reorient our self-identity so that God is at its center. When we understand and believe that God’s Spirit is doing its work in us, we are able to rest in the finished work of Jesus and we can trust that “you DID, so I AM."

Take Home Church
Two churches - i5 City and Red Rocks Church - celebrate one weekend of church together! Jimmy Rollins, lead Pastor of i5 City in Baltimore, shares a message reminding us that before the Church was centralized in buildings, it was mobilized in homes. As he reads through Acts, Jimmy points out that we are perfectly placed right now - in our apartments or homes - to do ministry for those around us. The people that you do life with now (whether face-to-face or digitally) are interacting with God’s Church through YOU. Even in this uncertain time, Jesus is still in the business of restoring relationships, bringing peace, and showing grace IN houses.

Jesus’ resurrection on Easter morning is a gift for everyone! This year, more than ever, we need the reminder that “He is risen, you do NOT need to be afraid.” Shawn’s message reassures us that 1) Jesus is who He said He was, 2) He did what He said He would, and 3) We can trust Him with our lives. In this ongoing season of uncertainty, Shawn highlights the things he’s learned in his battle with anxiety and reveals how we can battle our own fears and anxieties with the Truth of God. Even when our world feels upside down, we can walk in freedom and confidence because the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now lives inside of us!

In this message Ronnie explains the meaning behind Good Friday, its implications for our eternity, and what we can learn from Jesus’ willingness to die for us. This message includes a time for communion, where we remember Jesus’ sacrifice for us through eating bread and drinking juice. We would encourage you to participate with us wherever you’re listening today, as a way to remember Jesus’ love for us on Good Friday!

My Anxiety is My Weapon
In a world that is overcome with unknowns and worries, we are often drawn to two things: anxiety and distraction. Ronnie’s message focuses on the role that God plays in seasons of chaos, as we fix our eyes on Him. Instead of numbing our anxieties with food, substances, or mindless time on a screen, we can use PRAYER to free ourselves from our burdens, releasing our worries to God. Our anxiety isn’t ours to carry, and when we release it to Him, we are able to seek the life of freedom that God so graciously wants to give us.

The Spiritual Discipline of Celebration
In this crazy, wild and burdened world, it's difficult for the church to practice the Christian discipline of joy. We need to know that joy comes from the Lord, He wants us to enjoy this life, and that, ultimately, you deserve that joy. ———— 167: TAKE HOME FAITH: Each of us has 168 hours in a week, and we get to spend 1 of those in church together each week. Following Jesus in your other 167 hours hinges on 4 things: God’s Word, prayer, worship, and God’s people.

Persistent Prayer
Each of us has 168 hours in a week, and we get to spend 1 of those in church together each week. Following Jesus in your other 167 hours hinges on 4 things: God’s Word, prayer, worship, and God’s people. In seasons of joy, hardship, or uncertainty, prayer is a powerful piece of our connection with God. Ronnie’s message focuses on the role prayer plays in our ongoing relationship with God, and what we can learn from the story of the “persistent widow” in the Bible. God wants to hear from us regarding what we need, over and over and over again. When our faith is strong, or when it’s at its weakest, God never tires of our ongoing prayers about the things that are dearest to our hearts.

Each of us has 168 hours in a week, and we get to spend 1 of those in church together each week. Following Jesus in your other 167 hours hinges on 4 things: God’s Word, prayer, worship, and God’s people. In the midst of our hardest seasons, worship is a powerful weapon to fight for ourselves, our family, and our future. Shawn’s message digs into the way he battles his own anxiety with worship and how we can use worship as an instrumental way to speak truth over ourselves. In the middle of chaos, we can use worship to start moving our souls towards God. By doing this we trade fear, dread, anxiety, and depression for joy, power, rest, peace, guidance, protection, and confidence.

Called Out
What do you believe about God? Every problem, hardship, and difficult situation will force you to answer that question. Ronnie takes us into the book of Exodus and unpacks how a guy named Moses answered that very question when God called him out.

Jesus is King
Doug continues the series by talking about all the ways a Jewish carpenter from two thousand years ago still influences our culture today. Jesus' life ended by hanging on a cross. At that moment, he must’ve looked like a complete failure to most people watching. Nothing could be further from the truth. Since that moment, his influence has not stopped growing. Usually, when someone dies, their impact on this planet begins to decrease. Jesus inverted that trajectory!

Keep it Dead
This week we launched a new series called Modern Jesus. Jesus was a young carpenter who later became a Jewish Rabbi who lived on the other side of the world over 2000 years ago. So why should we continue to follow Him today? How can he possibly still be relevant today? So much time has passed, and Jesus has only grown more influential, not less. Ronnie mentioned this weekend, Jesus surrounded himself with the people on the margins, like the social outcasts and sinners. Jesus changed the culture he walked into and disrupted the pious legalism that was enforced by the religious authorities of the day.

The Power of Words
This week Ronnie reminded us how words have incredible power and have since Creation. God brought life with words and we also see that the enemy brought death with words. Words can bring death to marriages, careers, and friendships. However, they can also make relationships sweet, families strong and days filled with hope and healing.

The God Crutch
Doug pointed out this weekend, deciding to get healthy is often more complicated than we think. It’s most complicated when we continue to carry around our crutch. But one thing we do know is that, God is always ready to heal, redeem, and restore!

There’s More Where That Came From
Ronnie reminded us that we cannot love well until we fully understand and receive God’s love for us. When we live out of this love, everything changes. By choosing to love like this, God’s love is being perfected in us. Then we get a clearer picture of the love of God.

Change of Mind
As Ronnie shared that, the original intent and understanding of repentance was/is a shift that takes place in our minds. It is a change in the way we think that gives way to changes in our allegiance and affections. Repentance is the root that ultimately and eventually blossoms and bears fruit in our lives.

God Behind Bars (GBB) Live
For the very first time in Red Rocks history, we were able to bring the weekend experience LIVE into our campus at the Denver Women’s Correctional Facility! God continues to move in ways beyond our imagination. It was an incredible gift to be there worshipping alongside these women as Ronnie brought the message and reminded us of our identity in Christ and the freedom to live out of this identity.

Spiritual Beings, Physical Experiences
Eric mentioned this week, our God is such an intentional God. He hears, He speaks, He sees, and He surrounds. We know that God is always speaking. We know that He has a much larger perspective than we have, and we know that He provides the right people to surround us with in such a time as this. God does this almost always by interrupting our own plans.

God's Plan For Community
Andrew talks about how God designed us to be intentional, that we have more in common with each other than we will ever know. As followers of Jesus, we are commanded to be hospitable and help meet the practical needs of God’s family in community.

The Significance of Stuck
Ronnie shares that being stuck could perhaps be significant. In being stuck, we need to assess our patterns. Assess what we're focusing on. He reminds us that God's plan is not for you to remain stuck, or stationary, it's to release you into your purpose.

Great God Story
Eric reminds us there is more to come! Life is more of a "zig-zag" and not a safe, straight and narrow path. He says, "Great God stories often have significant 'zig-zags' and through this, we must walk with Him. We must surrender our story and have confidence that God is working on His plan. Through surrender, the story God has written for you is always beyond what we could ever imagine.

Afraid & Amazed
Shawn challenges us to stay in the fight! He brings us to Luke 8 when Jesus calmed the storm but before He did this, the disciples were so afraid. Yet, they stayed and were amazed over and over again. If they would have given up too early, they would have missed everything! Just as the disciples, we can relate. We can be afraid, but we must stay in the fight or we'll miss everything!

Can You Hear Me Now?
Guest speaker, Todd Crews, shares the importance of knowing God's voice. He shared three way God's voice communicates to us. In these three ways, God He is growing us, guiding us and changing us.

Fight Week
Shawn prepares us for the fight. He challenges us that because we are following Jesus, there is a calling on our lives and because of this, our lives matter. So we must expect a fight. Following Jesus is not the easiest way to live, but it is the best way! We have to expect storms to come. We have an enemy that wants nothing more than for us to quit. Don’t let opposition be the reason you quit, let it be a reminder to fight!
