Giving Your Couples Confidence ft. Bel Zev Films

Creative Storytelling ft. Eric Floberg
To be a creative storyteller is to be a listener, to be someone who is more interested in the story of others than their own. When it comes to wedding filmmaking, this means being passionately invested in the couple and who the are, making a film that is solely for them.
This is Eric’s philosophy for wedding filmmaking and it’s how he’s able to make the emotionally charged films that he does. Start with the couple, dig deep in to who they are and let that drive your creativity and your story.
Make sure to listen closely to hear a $100 off code for Eric's course "The Classroom" which is available until Monday night: https://education.ericfloberg.com/

SHOW LOVE E018 | You are Not Your Client - ft. Taylor Petrinovich
Today we're talking about two subjects that have been talked about on this show before but it's important we have a refresher... One is the idea of branding, why would you spend money on re-branding your business? and if you do, what does it look like?
I chat with Taylor Petrinovich about her recent rebrand and how she's positioning her brand to fit firmly in the high end market. We talk about the all important factor of branding which is that "you are not your client" and that your brand isn't necessarily there to represent your own personal aesthetic or taste, it's there to appeal to your ideal customer.
And secondly, I get Taylor to go deep on Instagram for me. Taylor's a wizard on the gram and she gives some fantastic advice to tidy up your feed and streamline your posting workflow to save you time and stress.
If you enjoyed the show and want to hear more from Taylor, she's hosting a free challenge designed to level up your wedding film business.

COVID vs the Wedding Industry ft. Jai Long
There is a lot of fear being spread within the wedding industry right now. Postponements, loss of income, creatives are scrambling to figure out how best to keep their businesses afloat.
On today's show, I'm speaking with Jai Long. As someone who has mastered the art of upselling, he breaks down his philosophy with me of how we can be making the most out of each wedding we do manage to get over the line this season. We talk about diversifying our offerings into things like live streaming and instagram edits and how these are powerful tools for generating extra revenue.
But most importantly, todays show is about focusing on the positive, not getting paralysed by the negativity that you see online right now and working on ways that you can best serve your couples and your business at the same time.

SHOW LOVE E015 | Stills to Motion ft. Chris Turner
Todays episode is a little different, this one is specifically for the photographers and I'm joined by Chris Turner to talk through everything a wedding photographer needs to know to start experimenting in the world of video.
We're going right back to basics talking about settings, gear, editing software and how none of them have to slow you down or take your focus away from your photography.
Todays episode is for any photographer who has thought about how to add a simple video option as an add on for their couples but hasn't known where to start.
And for anyone wondering... As a videographer, I really don't see photographers learning video and offering video to their couples as a downside to my business. As Chris mentions in the episode, there will always be couples who want a full service videography team to go all out on a video, but there are a lot of couples who just want "a little video extra" and this is where photographers are perfectly placed to fill that need as a suplimentary service to their photography.
Besides, photographers who know video make for freaking epic second shooters! So get learning people!
Also, Chris and I have a few resources on the basics of editing over on our YouTube channels, so go give those a watch if you'd like to learn more

SHOW LOVE E014 | Our Community ft. John Bunn & Nick Miller from How To Film Weddings
‘Wholesome hustle’ is a phrase I would use to describe John & Nick’s approach to growing their podcast ‘How To Film Weddings’. No-one can deny the time, effort and vision these two have put into this project that they began back in 2018.
Besides the educational benefit that podcasts like ours bring to wedding filmmakers, what’s sets How To Film Weddings apart (I believe) is the community support that John and Nick have built around their content. Their Facebook group (with roughly 6,400 members) is meticulously curated with weekly threads, discussions, critiques and support.
(well managed) Facebook groups, in my opinion are one of the best tools stay-at-home-creatives have to stay connected with their peers, talk shop, ask advice and generally have the sense of community that a communal office would otherwise provide.
On today’s show, I talk with John and Nick about how they grew their podcast and the values they use to grow their thriving community.

SHOW LOVE E013 | New Beginnings ft. Bottlebrush Films
Grace & Andrew aka ‘Grandrew’ aka Bottlebrush Films have had an incredible year… After re-imagining their already successful wedding film company with a bold new look, they crafted one of the most action-packed filmmaker workshop/getaways I’ve ever seen.
It’s clear that the investment in both time and energy that these two have put in to their brand, to make it something that they love, can get excited about and can truly stand behind has already been worth it and will continue to pay back for years to come.
Branding, logos and dance-party-workshops aside, Bottlebrush Films has consistently put out some of the most fun, creative and inspiring films I’ve ever seen and they are a brand I look to as a leader in our industry for pushing the boundaries of what a wedding film can be.
Oh yeah and they have their own playlist on Musicbed… Feeling inadequate as a filmmaker yet? I know I do!

SHOW LOVE E011 | The Client Experience ft. Henry Martens
🎥SHOW LOVE Ep011 | The Client Experience ft. Henry Martens 🎥
We all expect our work to stand on it’s own, and the growth of our business to directly reflect how “good” we are at making wedding films… But I’m afraid to say that isn’t the case. Obviously you need a good product, but how clients experience your work, how they remember you, how they talk about you to their friends who are about to get married has to do with an all encompassing feeling called “the client experience”.
It’s the reason Louis Vuitton stores have staff who open the door for you, and why Apple ensure their packaging is always super satisfying to open. Neither of these things improve the product once it’s in your hand, but they work to ensure that every interaction you have with that company builds a positive experience for you, the customer.
Today I’m talking to the legend, Henry Martens. Henry is renowned as a world class wedding filmmaker, his work speaks for itself and yet he puts real time, effort and budget towards improving his client’s experience. Most of us will take a potential client out for coffee, maybe even lunch if we really want to book the wedding. But Henry will fly across the country and take his couples out for dinner AFTER he’s booked them!
Get the coffee ready, today’s episode is a long one and we’ve got a lot to get through!

SHOW LOVE | E010 - Travel the World ft. Nisha Ravji
I'm sure we've all, at some point, dreamed about the possibility of getting paid to travel the world filming/photographing incredible weddings. So on todays episode I sit down with the legend Nisha Ravji, who is arguably the most well travelled wedding photographer in New Zealand. The laundry list of stunning locations that she's travelled to to capture weddings is enough to make most of us froth at the mouth...
Amalfi coast, Italy
Santorini, Greece
Bahamas
Banff, Canada
Fiji
Uluwutu, Bali
Paris, France
Los Angeles, USA
Tokyo, Japan
Brooklyn, New York
Isle of Skye, Scotland
Toronto, Canada
Iceland
Honolulu, Hawaii
Kerry, Ireland
... But life on the road isn't all just glitz, glamour and instagram likes. I chat with Nisha about the good, the bad, the ugly and everything in between that it takes to become a "destination wedding photographer".

SHOW LOVE E007 | Building Your Brand ft. Till Death
🎥🎤SHOW LOVE - EPISODE SEVEN! 🎤🎥
Building Your Brand ft. Mel Branson from Till Death
On todays episode we look at all things branding and owning your business' vision.
As Mel says, "it's imperative to understand what you are trying to say - with your business". When couples are looking for their wedding videographers it comes down to more than simply who makes the best films for the best price. Couples are like any other customer, they buy in to the idea what you do, who are and what you stand for, even if it's mostly subconscious.
I asked Mel to come on today specifically because her brand stands out from the crowd as a true representation of who she is and the product she's selling. rather than trying to figure out what she thinks couples would want, she just tried to make the best, most authentic experience and trusted that it would resonate with people, which (spoiler alert) it did!
Wait til the end of the episode where we also break down an epic documentary film 'Like Coming Home' that Mel created. You can watch the doco with the link here: https://vimeo.com/349204614

E04 - Crafting excitement ft. Humdrum Films
🎥🎤SHOW LOVE - EPISODE FOUR! 🎤🎥
Crafting Excitement ft. Humdrum Films.
This month I sit down to chat with Jared and Jacob from Humdrum Films. These boys produce some of the best, most energetic wedding films in my opinion and they give some great insight for anyone who wants their films to stand out from the crowd.
Today’s topic “Crafting excitement” is one I chose specifically for these boys as their films have an undeniable energy and go against the grain of how most people are producing wedding films today. Whether it’s the gear they are using (or not using!) or their attitude when filming on the day, there is a whole lot to learn!
Sit back and enjoy :)

E03 - Embracing Photography ft. Patty Lagera
On episode three of the podcast I chat with Patty Lagera about hybrid shooting and how videographers can start to think about embracing photography offerings within their business.
It's an area that I think scares a lot of us but I believe that we will begin to see more and more couples who primarily just want a video of their wedding along with a handful of beautiful portraits (rather than photos of the entire day) and videographers who can offer this as a service will be at an advantage over those who don't.

E02 - Coverage: Beyond solo shooting ft. David Agamata
This one is for all the videographers who are shooting weddings solo. Whether you're unsure about what multiple shooters could do for your films or you've just got used to shooting alone, David Aga and I chat through some of the benefits of increased coverage from multiple cameras and how it can really take your storytelling to the next level.
Also, if you currently use one extra shooter, what's holding you back from getting a second (three videographers total) like David does? Leave a comment on the Facebook page and we can discuss the pros and cons! www.facebook.com/showlovepodcast
