10. FEAR AND PREPARING TO WIN.
Fear and Winning.
“The will to win is not nearly as important as the will to prepare to win. Everyone wants to win, but not everyone wants to prepare to win. Preparing to win is where the determination that you will win is made. Once the game, or test, or project is underway it is too late to prepare to win. The actual game, the test, or project is actually just the end of a long process that is getting ready in which the outcome was already determined. So if you want to win, you must prepare to win. Once you prepare to win, winning is almost anti-climactic.
-Bobby Knight
Winning is in all of us. Winners don’t think normal. Everyone says think outside the box, but there is no box when you start out on a new journey, new goals for yourself. When you are in the chase for greatness, the chase to win, the ability to block out the noise, your head has to be in it. The only things you have are the things that are most important to you. That’s what winning is about. Every single day you have the opportunity to win. When you see those wins, and capture those wins, they bring you a little closer to what’s next. But most people don’t want to get in the race. Winning is a noble thing. It inspires others to be better themselves. When you win, someone else is going to win because of that. In order to win, your mind has to be stronger than your feelings. When your feelings win, your decisions typically suffer. When you remove emotions, you can fast track winning.
The fear of losing, of not playing, of what happens if, in my experience has been the detriment to my own goals and aspirations. If you want to win, if you want to hit a home run, you have to walk yourself up to that batter’s box and face the pitch, face the unknown that comes from trying to win. There is always a little bit of fear, but there should never be any doubt, disbelief in yourself, your abilities.
When you don’t have any doubt, it keeps your emotions under control and you keep going and going and going. You need that fear because it pushes you beyond what you would normally push yourself.
Fear gets you to move. The fear of not going for it, not walking up to that batter’s box, not doing and becoming more, what you leave behind and how much growth you still have propels you to do it.
Champions systematize the whole process.

8. SUCCESS.
Success isn’t about how much money you make, it’s not about who you are friends with, what kind of car you drive, what your job is, where you live, how cool you are, who you are dating. It’s about how you feel. Please. If you do not feel happy, if you do not feel positive every single day and are thankful that you have air in your lungs, are healthy, and simply exist in the world please start the discovery of what needs to change.
-
Success comes down to having grit-which is a series of monotonous behaviors repeated over and over and over again.
-
You must give 100% all the time. There’s no excuse for not giving 100% all the time when it is 100% your choice. When you choose to not follow through on what you need to do, that is 100% on you. You know what it takes to look yourself in the mirror at the end of the day and say I gave it 100%.
-
You must stay focused on the things that will drive your success and do it every single day. Not every couple days or every couple weeks. You must remind yourself, manifest it every single day.
-
People severely underestimate the amount of progress that can be made in 5 years and overestimate the amount of progress that can be made in 5 months. This is where procrastination comes becomes relevant. Your capacity expands to the time allotted to do any tasks. If I tell myself I have an entire day to do something, odds are I’ll take the entire day to do it, especially if it is a task that I know will not take me the entire day to complete. However let’s flip it. If I tell myself I have 1 hour to do a task that I know will take 2 hours, my capacity expands because I have no choice not to if I want the task to get done.
-
The power of visualization-You must Visualize your success. Make it a real vision. Have a visualization of where you want to go. Thank people who show you what it takes to get to the next level. Stay humble, stay hungry, surround yourself with people who are going to push you, so that when you have success you realize you are just getting started.
-
Big goals inspire big actions. Big actions produce big results. We play to the level of our goals. The work comes before the belief. Model your behavior, your actions after someone who is doing exactly what you want to be doing. Confidence comes from the big goals.
-
Fitness is boring, when you are overweight it takes a tremendous amount of faith in the work to know that it is going to pan out for you. Fitness, business, and career are so in parallel with how they work. Do the monotonous things over and over and over again-this is what grit is.
-
You must give 100% all the time. There’s no excuse for not giving 100% all the time when it is 100% your choice. When you choose to not follow through on what you need to do, that is 100% on you. You know what it takes to look yourself in the mirror at the end of the day and say I gave it 100%.
