A lethargic Monday morning in studio. The crew covers the COVID-19 figures before unpacking the weekend's main events. Locally, Namibians once again showed their disregard for COVID-19 regulation in videos that surfaced over the weekend, where the aftermath of a heavily attended funeral turns into a ruckus, with someone doing doughnuts with a BMW in front of the cemetery, while another pulled out a gun and started firing it off in the air. On yesterday's show, the crew predicted a fallout from Namibian athlete Christine Mboma's stunning performances so far this year, and once again, life decides to imitate art. Mboma and compatriot Beatrice Masilingi were withdrawn from the 400m hits at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, under suspicion of increased levels of testosterone. This has naturally caused an uproar on social media following the country's jubilant celebration of their stunning achievements. This dominates this morning's conversation. Perhaps more astonishingly, in second place was another Namibian with Beatrice Masilingi clocking an equally impressive 49.53. LEGAL SHIELD AWARDS BURSARIES TO DESERVING STUDENTS
Trustco Insurance, through its Legal Shield product, has devoted itself to support two University of Namibia Law students for the 2021 academic year. The students will receive financial support as well as an opportunity to conduct their Work Integrated Learning at Trustco Insurance upon graduation.
This year’s recipients – Mayemo Abigail Namakaliza and Doreen Lyomba will each be awarded Legal Shield bursaries amounting to N$30 000.00, after undergoing a vigorous selection process that considered an array of criteria as well as personal attributes. The financial assistance will enable them to focus on their studies rather than the financial hardships one encounters when pursuing a higher education qualification. The Legal Shield bursary initiative has awarded in excess of N$1.1 million to numerous students since 2002.
Upon completion of their studies, the two recipients will be granted the opportunity of employment at Trustco Insurance where they will each receive valuable practical experience in the legal working environment. This will equip them for the future by enhancing their confidence in executing tasks.
The bursaries awards were handed over by Trustco Insurance’s Head of Claims, Mr. Kevin Anderson, who placed great emphasis on the fulfilment of social responsibilities. He stated, “It is indeed a proud moment for us as Legal Shield to change the lives of our future law makers. This long tradition of investing into our youth is not merely a financial investment, but a moral obligation to make our society a better place through our social investment initiatives.” The next generation of the van Rooyen entrepreneurial dynasty, Le Hugo van Rooyen, had the opportunity to sit down with the recipients and shared some valuable tips in legal studies, a career he regards highly for the success of a corporate entity. “I am equally excited to witness this historic handover, to see the energy and fire in the eyes of Doreen and Mayemo. They are the ones who need to take the judiciary system to the next level in Namibia” he said.
Trustco Insurance continues to assist law students annually by means of bursaries and employment opportunities. To date, a total of 46 bursary recipients have benefitted from the financial assistance provided through the Legal Shield Bursary initiative. The management of Trustco Insurance believes that investing in promising legal students is an investment in the future. Legal Shield was launched in 2000 and was at that time the only Namibian legal insurance provider. It offers affordable cover against legal costs stemming from civil, criminal, matrimonial, labour and administrative matters.

The ad, which seems to take a dig at women with the use of the phrase 'slay queen', sparks a debate on social consciousness. This also comes on the back of at least 3 cases of women in Namibia filling lawsuits against defamatory comments made against them. One that is of particular interest is the suit filled by Justice Minister, Ivonne Dausab, against LPM Parliamentarian, Hennie Seibeb. HOLY GHOST FIRE!!! Is that what Q is wearing today? So many questions! Neville has to wear one of his other hats this morning, so he only joins the show midway, after Merja and Q navigate an awkward sports update. The conversation settles on mental illness, an issue the crew unanimously agree to be a serious issue in our community, with many unwilling to, first admit that they are suffering from depression or any other mental condition, and secondly reach out to anyone for help. It gets heavy, so we throw in some quick hits at the end to pick you back up for the day.

Trustco Life introduces new medical insurance product - OnawaMed
Windhoek, Namibia – Trustco Life developed and introduced OnawaMed as an affordable and unique medical insurance product to provide access and cover against the costs of consultations at private medical doctors.
OnawaMed is underwritten by Trustco Life and will unlock medical care by selected private doctors and pharmacies to the average Namibian for whom quality healthcare is unavailable due to high and ever-increasing cost that is exceedingly higher than the consumer price index the past few years.
The Covid-19 pandemic that was preceded by a hepatitis E outburst required from Trustco to innovate and develop an insurance product that adds value to the overall health of the nation.
It is no secret that traditional medical cover is not affordable to the average Namibian. In 2019 it was revealed that expenditure in healthcare, which is influenced by the annual inflation in medical fees has consistently exceeded the Namibia consumer price index for the past years.
As a means to try and curb expensive medical costs, OnawaMed will offer insured members access to fifteen (15) doctors’ consultations and fifteen (15) acute medication prescriptions up to the value of N$150.00 per prescription per year. This product is now available to members country-wide as Trustco Life expand its network of service providers, being doctors and pharmacies.
The product will cover the main member, and up to four (4) dependents who will enjoy cover under the OnawaMed policy. The product also includes a free funeral benefit for all the insured members.
Head of Trustco Life, Annette Brand stated: “We are extremely excited about the medical insurance product. In this difficult economic climate, it is our duty to Namibians to provide a service and product that stretches the value of the benefit of our loyal and new members.
For more information on the product or our list of service providers contact any of the Trustco Life offices country-wide or visit the Trustco Life website at www.life.na or email at [email protected]

Goco
Namibia has about 1.6million goats that are spread over all the regions. The majority of these goats are found in the communal areas where they have played an important role to ensure economic survival in subsistence farming. Goat meat is actually lower in calories, total fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol than not just lamb, pork and beef meats, but also turkey and chicken meat. This makes goat meat the healthiest red meat, even better than turkey and chicken
Dirk Kleinschmidt had a chat to Paul Scheeperspers from GOCO and Chef Phillip about the future of Goat meat in Namibia.

Elisenheim, the lifestyle of choice
Windhoek, Namibia - Elisenheim Estate, on the outskirts of Windhoek has been taking shape steadily for a number of years now. With the declaration as a township in 2011 it has grown into a sprawling community for people from all walks of life. Being one of the largest ongoing lifestyle property developments in Namibian history, Elisenheim boasts a residential growth of well over 3000 residents currently.
Driving down the newly-paved road towards the estate you are greeted by an atmosphere of sheer tranquility with cattle grazing on the side of the road, giving you that ‘’out-of-town’’ feel that so many crave. You are welcomed at the entrance by a capable security team who stays on the alert all the time to ensure the safety and security of all residents and visitors. ‘’ It is winter now, we know many of the other suburbs have a safety challenge during this time, criminals like to take chances but our team boasts a proud track record on safety ‘’ said one of the burly security men at the gate.
The pathways are filled with residents walking their dogs or taking a normal afternoon run, obviously trying to either shake off the post-lockdown kilo’s or merely trying to destress from the daily corporate rush of city life beyond the boundaries of Elisenheim.
With the newly completed speed bumps and four way stops along strategic roads, the safety of your family, especially children are enhanced against reckless drivers. Pets are ‘’ living their best life ‘’ at Elisenheim with ample space for daily walks, providing that residents always keep their pets on a leash.
Snakes, what snakes? Okay, we live in Windhoek, a place surrounded by mountains where different wildlife and creatures roam. Whether you live in Eros, Klein Windhoek, Cimbebasia or Katutura, always make sure that you don’t create an environment where snakes, rodents or any harmful insects finds a warm spot to hide.
The recently opened mall surely completes the quality of life 'Elisenheimers' desired for such a long time. Gone are the days you have to drive back another 20km if you forgot a loaf of bread upon your return from the city. The newly inaugurated retail store, gym, carwash and restaurant offers a lot of quality and service for your convenience.
So, if you have nothing to do on a Sunday afternoon and fancy a stroll, thinking of starting a new family or dreaming of a new lease on life; make your way down to Elisenheim Lifestyle Estate. You will be hooked!
