If you aren’t aware – an Esport, or electronic sport, is an activity where competitors battle against each other in a videogame to see who is the best. Today I’m gonna take you through my first experience of being at an esports event in-person at the Mississippi High School State Championships. The students combatted each other in three different videogames: Super Smash Brothers, Madden NFL, and Rocket League. Four schools qualified for each videogame, meaning twelve schools total were in attendance. Players started their day with a semifinals matchup, and if they won, advanced to the finals, the victors then earning the title of State Champion. While Madden and Smash Brothers are available for purchase, Rocket League is free on all platforms for anyone interested in the game. You can find the full day stream of the State Championships at the University of Southern Mississippi's Twitch ChannelEmail your tech questions and opinions to: [email protected] Hosted on Acast.
