Years ago I used to go to the canal and stare into the water for hours to do just that.so join me for an hour or so. Let's gather at the water's edge. Episode 93: Abstractive essentials
Hello, Its been a while. I have been busy the past months with my other label, producing and tidying up links etc.If you were not aware, surprisingly, i also produce 90's Jungle ! of all genres, what a contrast of genres's huh ?So from ambient at little or no BPM to 180-190 BPM. I am a troubled guy. ;-)I also was conscious that i was recycling the same ambient tracks at times, and didnt feel comfortable with that, so at the same time, i've been putting together new material, so now i'm back it should be fresh and not so repetitive. This episode is more of a sound collage of ambient and soundscapes.Nothing too deep. But i will be going deeper in the near future. Thank you for all the support even in my absence, you all really are the best fan base. Now to the music .............

In this episode, we are exited to feature music from the label Mythical Records. A label of fine art electronica music, experimental music, contemporary classical music, and ambient music. While their artists' aesthetics are experimental in nature, they primarily deal with professionally trained classical musicians, who have turned to a more experimental side of music, including stylings spanning the darkly decadent to the childlike dreams of fairy tales.https://twitter.com/mythicalrecordsThe 2 tracks we are exited to show case are from their album Where tides defy the moon. Hello, A big massive thank you on a universal scale for listening to my mixes.I did have a wobble not so long ago whether or not to continue with the series. But over the months / years, I am reminded that I have been contacted many times, randomly by such decent human beings, who enjoy them, and so many talented artists asking to showcase their music that it would be a crime if I did. So here I am. "Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom."–Lao Tzu.

Tonight, included in this mix we present a track from fhae, a Meanjin-based experimental solo project created by Ellena Ramsay, in which they combine ambient acoustic guitar and gut wrenching vocals. fhae's second album is to be released in early 2023 with single 'love you' of which was released in late November 2022 and is featured right at the beginning of this mix as it should. Episode 47: Not here, Not this, Not self
Today we feature Ben McCarthy. An electronic musician and sound artist from Toronto, Canada. His work is produced intuitively, meticulously arranging found sound, samples, and software to make music that slips in-and-out of various genres. He has given us free rein of 3 of his excuisite tracks from his up coming album DECORATIVE ARTS which will be available digitally from Bandcamp released on 25th June, Featureds+h ground at 24:12After Anomie at 29:010& All our happy days are stupid at 38:33"The songs collected here are more exploratory than experimental. Pushing to make an mp3 of the sounds and songs I heard seeded in generative melodies, field recordings, sampled videos, and free software. Made over countless smoky nights begun after my bbs were in bed, ending in the wincing chirrup of dawn birds. Lubricated by too much of my best friend’s rye. And just dumbly grasping for that sound, watching my breath unfurl between the monitors."A bath of experimental / explorational ambient that fits very nicely within our world. Cold, bleak dystopian episode tonight, Current mood. Old and new ambient music used in this with a little sprinkling of our own special dust. ;-)
In this mix amongst other tracks we were lucky to be asked to feature 2 tracks from Alpha Mound & Tidsrymd from their EP Slow wave Sleep / Dröm I Färg.2 beautiful tracks from a Swedish collaboration.time stamps, 8:00 Dröm I färg59:40 Slow wave SleepAlso, below is a link to an acompaning video. Little about the artists ....This is the first collaborative release of Alpha Mound and Tidsrymd, and the topic of this particular sonic meditation is the altered state of dreams. Combining our resources we have made two pieces combining synths, electric piano and processed guitars, somewhere in the realm between ambient, doom-jazz, post rock or ethereal, minimal shoegaze. It's a slow building wall of sound, meditative but forceful, emerging in spacey, atmospheric, rolling melodies. The EP is accompanied by a music video created by Alpha Mound (a.k.a. Joakim Westlund). The video takes the viewer on a colourful journey through space, using original video material from the ESA/Hubble-telescope, manipulated, combined and overlayed with still images by Joel Filipe, Gaetan Othenin Girard, Anfal Shamsudeen & Casey Horner (which are further manipulated and animated).About the artistsAlpha Mound is the recording project of Joakim Westlund, who, since 2012, has released many albums, EPs and collaborations. His style is focused in the ambient genre and sometimes mixed into more deep going indie-electronica and kraut sounds. The sound design is always a main feature where you can find complex melodies alongside slow drones and spare rhythms. Tidsrymd is the moniker of recording artist Johan Ohlsson. So far two digital EP:s have been released on Stålverk Records dabbling in neo-kraut, ambient and minimalism. Johan is also a member och the lo-fi electronic duo A Farrago.Links to show some love.https://soundcloud.com/tidsrymdhttp://www.alphamound.com/https://alphamound.bandcamp.com/album/slow-wave-sleep-dr-m-i-f-rghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPkRS-b4NtI
