"Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures...But when God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us...Because of His grace He made us right in His sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life." (Titus 3:3-5, 7) The book of Titus is a little pastoral letter in the back of the Bible that's easy to miss. "Tell me, you who want to live under the law, do you know what the law actually says? The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave wife and one from his freeborn wife. Fact 1: No one knows for sure when Jesus was born. Fact 2: Christmas is not based on a pagan holiday. " (1 John 2:15-16) The Bible commands: Do not love the world. But what does loving the world really mean? And what, exactly, should we be doing to avoid falling into that trap? (Hebrews 7:25) The above is a great verse to begin questioning your understanding of the words “salvation” or “save” when they appear in the Bible. These words can have different meanings other than just initial salvation (or salvation from hell). "...if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9) We are saved by grace through faith and not as a result of works. Yet in the above scripture, it says you must confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord to be saved. Isn’t that a work? "But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons." (Galatians 4: 4-5) The phrase most focus on from this passage, typically during the holiday season, is “God sent forth His Son, born of a woman.” This indeed ties in with the Christmas story nicely, but those with spiritual ears will hear clearly the phrase at the end of this passage, which has deep meaning.
