Title
Pandemic
I wrote and recorded this within a day. I didn't have the poetry of spoken language alone to handle my mind the night that coronavirus really arrived in the United States, with the first school closings and event cancellations, so I wrote this based off a riff I woke up humming earlier that morning. Even if we're lucky enough to stay distanced from it, this pandemic forces us to face the idea of death, and I'm usually very comfortable with that subject. My father's been sick since I was little, so I've thought a lot about it. I also tend to believe deaths happen when we're living, in a deep sense. But this week I was shaken by the gravity of how we can deny or not know that something is wrong, and so we don't communicate something we should have before time runs out. That's what this song is about. Since life is imperfect, the song ends on a note of remembering humans make mistakes, so hopefully you do the best you can and remember that.

About Millaze
Revering the songwriting process as a means for survival from dissociation, Millaze uses her dreamhop piano to balance grey area. Combining pure piano craftsmanship in the singer/songwriting tradition, with diverse orchestrations of eclectic pop with a modern hip-hop instrument palette, Millaze’s multi-album “books” follow a Little Girl on a lost adventure in a dream world, Oakland. Autobiography mixes with illusion as Millaze spreads herself across the world, questioning the dialectic nature of opposing forces. It is this gravity of purpose that defines Millaze’s musical catalogue, and creates a musical world in which to both lose and find self.
