About vlou
vlou is the bass-forward music project of South African bassist and composer Vee Lourenço. Incorporating live bass and digital production, and influenced by Marcus Miller, Khruangbin and Flea, vlou's sound is rooted in a fusion of modern psychedelia, funk and jazz.
vlou released her debut single and music video "Scenes from a Dream" in 2021 and is currently working on an EP. vlou's live performances include concerts at Ancienne Belgique (July 2022) and Queer Pride in Brussels (May 2022).
Vee completed her BMus degree at Rhodes University in 2013 and has over 16 years of experience in various musical contexts as a bassist, composer, performer, producer and recording artist in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Vietnam, France and Belgium.
