About Hugh O'Shea
You play so brilliantly! Emotionally heartfelt!! Very strong yet delicate!! I love the stir it has caused!!! Thank you so much for the experience!! :) FemArtNYCHugh, you are a first-rate composer and player. Etude No. 1 (Opus 13) is just gorgeous piano music. Frank SmithHugh O'Shea is a composer and pianist from Melbourne, Australia. A self-taught composer, he first began writing after commencing music studies at NMIT (Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE). His early compositions were mainly written for piano but during his university studies at La Trobe he began composing ensemble works and also composed music and songs for campus theatre productions.  After graduating in 2003 and being awarded a Bachelor of Arts (Music and Politics) he wrote soundtracks for documentaries and commercials. He received his Diploma of Education (Primary) in 2007.Etude 1/13 from his EP Quartet, reached number two on the ReverbNation local classical music charts in Melbourne a few weeks after its initial release in May 2008. All four tracks from the EP receive airplay on local and national radio in Australia and internationally on the internet. After selling out, Quartet was re-released in August 2012 with a new cover design and different track running order. Since then, the profile of Hugh O’Shea and the Quartet EP have been raised significantly, receiving high praise from many of O’Shea’s peers and listeners alike.April 2006 witnessed the premiere performance of his first choral and instrumental work his second commissioned work - Laudate Dominum, which was performed in Melbourne's famous St. Patrick's Cathedral. In 2008, between teaching, performing and the recording of the Quartet EP Hugh has been working on a larger choral and instrumental work - a Miserere based on the vulgate version of psalm 49  - which will be performed next year.In 2013 Hugh is planning on releasing a full-length CD of piano solo and ensemble works.
